Two months into hiding...
Chuuya stared at Marina as she slept. She was doing much better now, since she hadn't been taking Mori's medicine. She was less pale now, slept less, and ate more. She was gaining weight now, having been on actual antidepressants since Yosano discovered the fakes.
Now that she was stronger, Dazai had been carefully easing up to her, showering her with affection, food, and care. He couldn't count how many times he had cleaned up after dinner, watching them go to the bathroom together...and finding them an hour later, Marina relaxed into Dazai's chest while his laptop played whatever show they had found online.
Chuuya had wanted to join them, but they needed a larger tub...
Chuuya was training with a few of the other Agents, especially Kunikida. He hated how much the man seemed to predict his moves, flip him onto his back, make him see stars and lose the air in his lungs.
He heard Kunikida's car coming up the driveway and he glanced at the window, sighing softly as he stood.
Dazai was snuggled against her back, fully relaxed. He didn't have on as many bandages this time, at least...mostly they were concentrated around his neck, shoulders, and arms, leaving his chest and stomach bare before continuing down his thighs and stopping at his knees. Chuuya touched his scarred hip as he got up, kissing both of their heads before leaving the room and heading downstairs.
Kunikida let himself in, staring at the tea waiting for him on the table. "Where's Dazai?"
"Sleeping in." He tilted his head at him. "With Marina."
"How is she doing?"
"Fine, actually." He chuckled. "She's worried about the weight she's gaining. None of us care." He handed Kunikida a cup of tea to drink before the blond kicked his ass again. "Turns out Dazai has a food kink after all..."
Kunikida set the cup down, not drinking. Chuuya drank his quickly, not minding the heat. He tilted his head at him, huffing softly. "Let's get this over with, then...I'll need a good long shower to recover after you kick my ribs in. Be warned. You risk the wrath of Dazai if I'm too injured to fuck him properly."
Kunikida flipped Chuuya onto his back for the third time, staring down at him. "Why do you keep doing that? I've tried to get you to stop coming at me head-on? You're a terrible learner."
Chuuya had used his ability to land slower, staring at Kunikida's ass. He laid on his back, staring at something else when the man turned to face him. "Oh? Am I?" He smirked, rolling onto his stomach and using his ability to get to his feet. "Maybe I just like the view."
Kunikida stared at him blankly, looking up at the clouds scuttling across the blue sky. "Maybe I throw you around too much...I think you have a major malfunction."
Chuuya laughed, kicking a stone into Kunikida's shin that was turned into a small bullet by his ability. "How about we do something else?"
Kunikida at least rubbed his leg after that, hissing in pain. "You need to learn hand-to-hand combat, Chuuya. You definitely over-rely on your ability whenever you have the opportunity. You can be just as fearsome with your hands."
Chuuya couldn't stop the smirk that formed, trying to bite his lip into compliance. "Uh-huh...my hands?"
"Why do you always do this? We can't have a single normal conversation, can we?"
"It's not my fault you bring everything around to my hands and my legs. I think you find me sexy." He cocked his hips, cooing as he moved his gloved hands to his face. "Ahhhh, I might even be turning you gay..."
Kunikida's eyebrow twitched and he turned his head away. "Again...I threw you to the ground too hard..."
"Oh, come on, Kunikida. You know I like it rough." He smirked. "Show me a different move. I want to throw you around next. I'm a giver. Just ask Dazai." He walked closer to him, humming as he grabbed Kunikida's arm before he could retreat. "Where are you going? I'm not done learning!"
"I need some water."
Chuuya followed him, laughing. "Fair enough."
"Actually, if you're ever in a fight where you can't use your ability, maybe you could traumatize them enough that they'd just leave you alone. You wouldn't have to learn how to defend yourself. You could just tell them how much you like staring at people's asses and imitate the sounds Dazai apparently makes."
"You've been thinking about this alot." Chuuya stopped walking for a second, looking the blond up and down, his eyes staying on his ass as he walked. "Are you jealous?"
That got the blond to stop. He looked over his shoulder at him. "What are you talking about?"
Chuuya couldn't suppress the excited shiver at the sound of his exhausted voice. He smiled as sweetly as he could. "That I can make Dazai squeak and you've apparently not seen anyone, woman or man, naked?" He stepped closer, tilting his head. "You know, you could just ask my permission to-"
"So you just whore out your boyfriend?"
Chuuya blinked, laughing and leading him inside. "Whore out is a bit strong...he can have who he likes...as long as they aren't ancient as fuck." He handed Kunikida a glass from the cupboard.
"Are you guys seriously talking about me again?" Dazai was seated at the kitchen table, not taking his eyes off his laptop as he worked.
"Kunikida keeps bringing up how sexy my legs and hands are."
"Kunikida's a creep," Dazai agreed. He smirked at his partner. "But a fully-dressed man is as close as he'll get to see anyone naked."
Kunikida drank his water slowly, scoffing softly. "You two together are awful...no wonder you two worked well together in the Mafia."
"Oh no." Chuuya laughed. "Nobody could work with that asshole. I give you serious kudos for putting up with him so long, because I wanted to kill him since day one."
"I've thought about it...but you were running around in the Mafia and we need him to keep you in check." He set his empty glass down, looking at Dazai. "I hear Marina is being given her own desk in the Agency. You two will be alone most days."
Chuuya still couldn't believe how fast things were finally moving, now that she had been an officially welcomed into the Agency. She had been offered her own apartment as well, which she had been hesitant to accept. Chuuya had brought up that she'd have a space to go if she needed her own time, and that had been good enough for her to start packing up her things...slowly. She was still feeling guilty about leaving the men behind while her new life started seemingly without them.
Dazai shrugged a little, sighing. "At least we'll have each other...and you, every other day, training the slug." He looked up at Kunikida, chuckling. "And you thought I was bad..."
Kunikida kept his eyes on Chuuya as he finished his second glass of water, wiping his mouth with his gloved hand. He sighed softly. "We'll let you have your quiet time now...I think I'm done going easy on him."
Chuuya smiled, beaming up at Kunikida. "You were going easy on me?"
"And Yosano should be by to bring Marina for her first day of office work," Kunikida continued, ignoring Chuuya as he walked the redhead for the door. He held the door open for him, staring down at him. "Please stop staring at me like that, Chuuya."
Chuuya snorted, waving his hand. "Please...I can do what I like...keep walking." When the blond turned around, Chuuya went right back to staring at his ass. He glanced over at Dazai to see how obvious he was being, but Dazai was staring as well before lowering his eyes back to his work.
Apparently he wasn't the only admirer.
Kunikida started off slow as he taught Chuuya new moves, allowing the redhead to flip him the way he had been for several times in a row, though Chuuya was gentle as he used his ability to carefully lower the man to the ground. He looked back at him, laughing softly.
"Alright...that's a bit fun." He offered his hand to Kunikida, using his ability again to lift the man to his feet.
"You don't have to be gentle to me, Chuuya. I can handle getting thrown."
Chuuya licked his lips slowly, nodding. "So you like it rough, too..I just didn't want to break you, Kunikida." He laughed, Kunikida's face finally flushing a slight red. "Just relax! Loosen up, my budding gay friend..."
"I'm not gay."
"Bisexual. That's fine." Chuuya smiled at him, folding his arms. He forced a scowl on his face. "Or are you attracted to pans too?"
Kunikida sighed loudly, immediately starting to jab into Chuuya's ribs. The first couple blows, Chuuya thought he was kidding and he batted his hands away as he laughed. The first kick for his head made him realize he wasn't, and he ducked quickly, holding onto his hat. He jumped over the next kick, his eyes wide.
He really made Kunikida mad this time...
He smirked, starting to throw his own punches. It took longer than he thought to get actual training!
Kunikida was just as good at blocking as Dazai, showing how much they had practiced before...Kunikida passing his knowledge to Dazai over the years of their partnership. Who taught Kunikida? They were good.
"Not going to use your ability, poet?" Chuuya hadn't used his either, though he expected to see a slip of paper in his hand eventually as the fight wore on. He was starting to breathe heavily, listening to Kunikida's own huffs as they fought. He ducked another kick, missing the second and falling onto his side. He stared up at Kunikida in surprise, his eyes widening.
"You start talking, you get distracted, you lose." Kunikida squatted beside him, helping him to his feet. "You can't expect to run your mouth during a fight. I know that's how you and Dazai operate, though."
"You're so hot when you're telling me how stupid I am." Chuuya took his hand, chuckling. "It's not as patronizing as you think, actually."
He sighed, tugging him to his feet and staring at him. "You have a long way to come before you're ready to fight anyone properly, without your ability."
Chuuya smiled up at him. "You've only been training me for seven days. I'll learn eventually. Promise."
Kunikida turned to watch Yosano's SUV crawl up the driveway. "Time to get to work."
"You can work here today, Kunikida! Dazai will make a third plate anyway. He's an okay cook." He watched Yosano park and he moved towards the door, listening to Marina in the kitchen sorting through her bag and telling Dazai the contents, making sure she didn't forget anything.
"You're going to be fine, Marina." Dazai lifted his eyes from his work, smiling at her. "The ladies will take excellent care of you...I promise."
"You think so?" She touched her hair, pulling it up into a ponytail. She brushed her hands over Chuuya's favorite V-neck purple shirt, then checked her slacks. "I'm so nervous."
"You look amazing." Chuuya smiled at her, leaning in the doorway. "But your ride is here, so you'd better be going."
Marina nodded quickly, pulling her bag over her shoulder. She walked around the kitchen table to hug Dazai, then stopped in front of Chuuya to give him his own hug.
Chuuya held her tightly, smiling as he buried his face into her neck. "Have a good day at work...I think Kunikida is going to stay and work with us."
"Ugh, the testosterone in this place is going to skyrocket." She wrinkled her nose at him playfully. "You better behave yourselves while I'm gone."
"Best behavior. Got it." He smiled at her, watching her walk to Yosano's SUV and get in. She waved at him one last time and Chuuya waved back.
"Your tastes are consistent at least," Kunikida sighed.
"I love my sweet brunettes." He tilted his head at Kunikida, chuckling. "So are you staying?"
Kunikida checked his watch, sighing down at the time. "...I might as well. It would save some time."
"Atta boy. You can have the couch." Chuuya guided him inside, collecting his laptop from the coffee table. He unplugged it, opening it as he walked towards the kitchen table to sit. "Just to let you know, Dazai's serves lunch at noon and then he likes to take a walk. I smoke outside, so you'll probably have the house for a little bit."
Kunikida watched them work for a moment before settling on the couch, pulling his own laptop free and opening it in his lap. "Very well."
Chuuya opened the first email of many to come, resting his cheek in his hand as he read through it. He frowned at the warm up, his eyes widening. Oh! He knew the answer to this one!
Two friends went out for drinks together. They ordered the same drink. Juli was really thirsty and finished five in the time it took Hinata to finish one. The drinks were poisoned, but only Hinata died.
How?
Chuuya typed as fast as he could back to Fukuzawa, determined to finally be the one to answer it correctly. He sent it, his heart pounding into his chest. He smiled as he sat back, glancing around at Dazai and Kunikida. They both seemed to be reading. Had he beat them?
Chuuya opened each email as it came, then started checking the cases that were up in case he could offer any advice. He was chatting with Atsushi about one of his cases when Dazai stood up and started getting lunch prepared.
"Your little weretiger does ask a lot of questions," Chuuya sighed. "How can he type so fast?"
Dazai chuckled. "He can type eighty words a minute if he's excited. We like racing each other. It's good fun for us."
Chuuya blinked, frowning at him. "Huh?"
"I'll show you in a minute." He turned back to making lunch. "Let me finish making this, okay?"
"Mmm..." Chuuya went back to his computer, groaning softly as he saw how many times Atsushi messaged him. He closed his laptop as he yawned, chuckling. He stood up, stretching and trying to pop his back. "I'm going to have a smoke." He reached around Dazai, grabbing his lighter. "Stop running off with these, you freak."
"I needed it!" He put the lid back onto his candle, pushing it out of the way so he could put his cutting board onto the counter. "You like it smelling nice in here, don't you?"
"Eh." Chuuya set the cigarette into his mouth, humming softly. He clicked the lighter as he walked towards the door, glancing at Kunikida as he seemed to be wrapping up one last email. He smiled, stepping outside and lighting the cigarette. Mama shot out between his legs before the door could shut. He sat on the step, watching her play before darting towards the woods and chasing Sensei back into the clearing where they both rolled and bounded. He smiled as he recognized the calico, snapping his fingers for him.
The calico didn't seem to notice or care.
Kunikida sat down next to Chuuya, frowning at the cats. "You two are...strangely...nice to work with. Dazai's usually fucking around, making a nuisance of himself. One time he ate a mushroom that made him lose his shit. It was such a pain...and today, it's like he's actually a good employee."
"That actually sounds about right." He laughed and he flicked the ash away far from Kunikida, humming. "I don't know what happened. One day he was a pain in the ass. The next day, I came down to the kitchen and he was wearing an apron making scrambled eggs. He seemed so...relaxed." He leaned back, smirking. "He kinda looks cute when he wears it. I wonder what got into him..."
"Probably a stable work and home life. For a while there, I thought he was falling apart at the seams." He sighed as he watched Mama chase Sensei around. "And then I found out about you and Marina."
Chuuya blinked at him, chuckling as Mama and Sensei came sprinting up towards them, Mama using Chuuya's shin as a wall to bounce off of and tackle the calico.
"I thought you only had one cat." Kunikida pulled his feet away from the scuffle of claws and fur.
"Sensei swings by at odd times to play with Mama. I think he gets lonely spending time with Haruno." He chuckled as he watched them. "She should really keep her windows and doors shut if she doesn't want him running around."
Kunikida chuckled. "She said she was going to keep windows shut, since he likes to sit out on her fire escape and chirp at birds. She must have forgotten again."
"He's going to get hit by a car if he keeps this up." He frowned at the calico as the cat pulled away from Mama and trotted up to him, butting his head into his hand. "You're a reckless cat, dude."
The calico meowed up at him, tilting his head.
Chuuya finished his cigarette, flicking it into the empty flower pot he was using as a trash can for his butts. He stood, stretching with his arms over his head. He tilted back, humming as his shirt lifted and exposed the top of his hips and some of his stomach to Kunikida. He smirked when the blond got up quickly and turned to walk back inside, letting the cats in first.
"Sensei!" Dazai set the bowls onto the table, laughing as he squatted to wiggle his fingers at the calico, who swatted at his hand before running up the stairs. "Marina's out, kid! No cuddles from her today!"
Sensei meowed loudly before disappearing up the stairs.
Mama curled up in her bed, washing her paws and legs. Chuuya brushed her fur, checking his phone. He swiped away the notifications of Atsushi's messages, moving onto the email he got from Fukuzawa, finally congratulating him on the correct answer.
He smiled down at the message, locking his screen again before turning to Dazai and Kunikida.
Dazai ate slowly, thumbing through his phone. "Marina's settling in well with the ladies. Apparently Mii has gone missing again. Isn't that strange?" He smirked at Chuuya, watching Sensei slowly came down the stairs. He stopped at the bottom, sitting and tilting his head. "I told you, kid. She's out."
He meowed at him, lowering his body to the floor where he tucked his feet under his body and seemed to fall asleep.
"Poor thing. It seems he just wanted to hang out with Marina." Chuuya chuckled. "Like we're not cool enough for him anymore."
Chuuya picked up his bowl of steak and rice, carrying it to sit closer to Dazai, who looked up at him. He smiled, kicking the chair out for Chuuya to sit.
"You should have seen Kunikida throwing me around, Dazai. He had no concern for my safety."
"Because you can stop your fall," Kunikida pointed out, frowning at him.
Dazai hummed, tilting his head. "Aww...I bet you're bruised..I'll take care you after lunch."
Chuuya pretended to sniffle, running his hand up Dazai's leg as he pouted up at him. "He even twisted my wrist. I fell on my back super hard."
"You could have stopped your fall. I didn't throw him around that much."
"Kunikida, how could you?" Dazai looked at him sternly, continuing to eat. "That's so rude...you have to be gentle with him. He's so much smaller than you are."
"He could stop his fall! He controls gravity!"
Chuuya leaned into Dazai, resting his head on his shoulder as he pouted at Kunikida next. "I think I still hurt..."
Kunikida grumbled, turning back to his food and continuing to eat. "You're ridiculous...an Executive sobbing over how hard I've thrown you around...while you control gravity!"
"You haven't even seen his pretty rich girl persona. It's fascinating to watch as he transforms into the character." Dazai kept his face more even and blank than Chuuya did, who was grinning into Dazai's shoulder.
Kunikida stared at them, groaning softly. "Not interested."
Chuuya tutted and finished his bowl, setting it in the sink to clean up later. He leaned against the counter, watching Kunikida. "Like I'd even show you, hater."
When Dazai finished eating, he stacked his bowl onto Chuuya's and started towards the door. He waited for Sensei to join him before he left for his walk.
"Where's he going?" Kunikida frowned at the door.
"I told you. He likes to go for a walk." He chuckled and he tilted his head. "You could join him, if you like. I need another smoke. There's a lovely trail you could walk with him. It runs along a stream. Sometimes you can even see deer, but mostly it's just a lot of bugs ruining the moment." Chuuya picked his cigarettes out of his bag again, looking over his shoulder at him. "Or you can stay here and be boring."
Kunikida walked beside Dazai, Chuuya behind them enjoying the view. He was smoking again, exhaling smoke over his shoulder so it wouldn't bother the men in front of him. He switched his gaze from ass to ass, Sensei trotting between the two men.
"Enjoying the sights, Chuuya? Can you see okay?" Dazai smiled over his shoulder at him.
"It's amazing." He pushed a branch back before it could snag on his pants. "I should do this more often."
Kunikida looked around slowly, frowning a little and glancing at Dazai's phone, which had a timer counting down. "You do this every day?"
"I try to. For twenty minutes, it's a nice walk...I wish I could do it longer, but I think Chuuya would burn down the kitchen if he tried cooking, and Marina had been too tired to do anything but laundry for us." Dazai frowned, sighing and reaching backwards for Chuuya's cigarette. He set it in his mouth, humming. "I shouldn't have even let her do that much..."
Kunikida looked around, watching birds hop from branch to branch. "It's good she got the help when she did...and she looks better."
"She looks amazing." Chuuya took his cigarette back, chuckling. He blinked when Dazai stopped walking, staring down at the stream babbling over rocks. He stood next to him, holding his wrist in case the idiot jumped in and tried to drown.
"I don't want a swim, Chuuya." Dazai smiled down at the water. "Sometimes I can imagine Oda here...sitting and writing...listening to the stream, looking up at the trees."
Kunikida frowned, looking at Dazai. "Oda?"
Chuuya shot him a glare, dropping his hand into Dazai's. "You keep doing that, Dazai." He leaned his head into his arm, pulling him closer and humming. He could almost see the man as well, across the stream, sitting with Sensei and petting his head as he twirled his pen between his fingers, waiting for inspiration to fall onto him.
"This is a lovely place to remember," Dazai said. He closed his eyes, tipping his head back and sighing. "I like it here."
