Chapter 15:Too many funerals
Its a brand new day in the kingdom of havan right now with the sun bright out right now in the skies. Though today isn't all that grand actually because today is the many funerals they will need to have for the people they lost in the battle for havan. While they plan to transports those already to menagerie in the smaller ships to their home.
Though right now everyone was getting up right now was everyone who were getting ready for breakfast today. They where in the small cafeteria area right now as they were all in their usual attire at the moment. Though they all where starting to eat breakfast still waiting for a few people to get up right now.
"So today is the day i guess the day for us to have well…you know"merucyr sadly broke the silence eating his breakfast
Weiss sighed looking down"i…i know what you mean i can't belvie we have to have a funeral right now. I haven't been to one since…pyrrha"She admitted
"Oh how was it? Me and ren didn't go"nora asked softly
Jaune thought for a moment slightly smiling"it was nice i'm sure you guys would have loved to be their. Maybe…maybe when we get to argus we can visit her"he suggested making the two like the sound of that
Ren still struggled a little with his one arm as he managed
"That would be nice. Though still a few of us aren't up yet"he commented
Blake sighed looking down"You mean velvet…maybe someone should go check on her to see if she'll come down. I'm sure shes up right now"She suggested
"I got it…might as well check on bun"may said offering as quickly joining her was cardin to help out.
As the two walked down the hall which didn't take long to the hotel room they were staying in. gently may knocked on the door to get her attention but as she did it slightly opened itself. Then she peeked inside seeing no one in the living room.
"Guess shes not in here maybe"Cardin stated though a small distant noise could be heard in another room as she sighed
"Not quite guess shes in her room still"may sadly said walking over to the room with him cautiously. The two slowly opened the door to reveal what she was doing
That being that velvet was curled up in the corner of her bed still in her pajamas. The rabbit was still crying her eyes right now because of what today was right now. As she was wailing quietly to herself hoping no one heard her.
Cardin sighed stepping in as may walked over taking a seat on the bed which got her attention as she jumped
"Oh uh…its just y-you two"velvet said whipping her face to hide the tears but they knew she was crying
"Yeah…you sleep alright bunny ears?"cardin asked kindly
"What you gonna yank em like i heard you did"may joked to lighten the mood up a little making the rabbit slightly laugh
"Funny…i..i slept okay…just well getting my morning routine started"velvet replied but they knew she was lying.
"Don't worry bun i know today will be tough. But their are people here for you right now…come on give us as mile"may said with a smile toward her
Velvet tried to not smile but smile a little toward them which made them smile
"Hey theirs the cheerful rabbit we knew. Come on were eating breakfast right now before we all get ready for today"cardin said
"Yeah that means get your lazy butt out of bed and join us because luckily uhh zanny made breakfast. I tried to tell him not to but he was persistent"may said making the rabbit ears perk up.
Velvet got up staring at the nearby closet full of her usuall attire as she stared at her combat gear. But declined to not wear it as she kpet her pajamas on mainly being black sweatpants with a brown tanktop that was a little baggy. But she picked up a zip up brown hoodie wrapping it around herself to stay modest.
They made their back downstairs for breakfast as they all noticed them arriving greeting them with waves and smiles.
"Their you guys are though you'd miss out breakfast. Because man i needed some coffee to start my day"zoey said taking a sip of the warm liquid.
"Yeah…coffee"velvet sadly said fixing herself a plate of some fruits with a bit of eggs. Though zoey quickly realized what she did mentioning her team names as she set her cup down worried now.
"Oh i didn't mean to i…i.'m sorry i didn't mean to bring up bad memories for you"zoey apolgized as her tail fluffed up.
"Its okay…i just gotta get used to be the last one on my team…its something i need to adapt too"Velvet sadly replied as some immediately became concerned for her. As onxyia walked over taking a seat next to her
"Bun…don't talk like that okay look i know it hurts. But look where all here for you where all…devstated on what happened"she sadly said as she looked down
Perun scoffed slightly"you mean that psycho team i mean come on…can;t belvie they all ran away like a bunch of cowards. Coudln't handle that lose of theirs"he commented as eria looked away by the mention of that day as she stared at her breakfast not really hunger anymore now.

Though they all continued to eat breakfast for the day as zwei sauntered over to his owner for some table scraps. Ruby noticed that as she sneakily handed him a piece of bacon as the small dog enjoyed the greasy treat.
But as they kept eating for maybe twenty minutes as they began to get the dishes cleaned up at that moment. While they did alot of them sat down in the small lounge space as curiously neptune picked up the remote
"Hey lets see whats on the news today. Maybe if were lucky we can beat the traffic"neptune commented pressing the button on the remote as the tv turned on for a news report. It played out for them all to hear
"This is kent brockman reporting. From what we have gathered in the last week tragedy stuck out kingdom as of mistral. Some may not know but recently the white fang and several other groups have tried to attack our gracious hutnsman academy. But fortunately thanks to the efforts of the faunus people of menagerie from what we gathered. Their leader ghira belladonna and his edlest daughter blake belladonna. Both of them gathered up a miltia of faunus to finally strike back against the white fang. Thanfkul they were successful in their defnece of our kingdoms and we can't thank them enough for the support. Maybe some might be wrong on how the faunus people are viewed"the news reporters said making blake smile hearing that

"We can see that sun. though congrats you leading that little charge on the fang might have changed their views on us"zoey commented
Winter chuckled"actually it might have done alot more in my opinion. I'm sure the council here are very thankful for what happened"she replied as it coninuted
"Though along with that sighting of the branwhen tribe where spotted their as well along with the despardos who assisted in helping stop the fall. But thanks to their efforts along with qrow branwhen who was traveling with a group of students thanfkully noticed the attack assiting in the defense of our kingdom. Though on that day we also lost several people that day one of them being leonardo lionheart headmaster of the academy and coucnilmen of our own kingdom"the news reprotted continued before displaying a picture of lionheart on screen with his wife skehmet making some not like that as it continued
"Tragically he lost his life defending his kingdom to his last breath. Along with that recently we found that his wife was killed alongside him buried in an unmarked cabin in the woods. His daughter bastet lionheart is troubled by the news. But tragically the group of students had one death a girl by the name of coco adel along with lance corporal beidou hargreaves"the news anchor continued before showing a picture of coco and beidou on screen.
This made velvet flinch a little as she shook a little covering her ears right now shutting her eyes tight. Immediately eden reached over to console her shielding her the best she could.
Mercury sighed"oh right…guess the news would report on this awesome"he said with no joy
"Come on man they where going to do it eventually. Should we continue or…"neptune asked as some stayed silent as it did wanting to see where it was.
"These two and many others tragically lost their lives defending our kingdom for that we thank them. The culprits weren;t all caught with some of their associated even being from vacuo and our kingdom own gang. Word is how even the gang known as the spiders assisted us which may be hard to believe. Although we have shocking news for everyone around as well since this broadcast is being played here and in atlas"the anchorman continued making winter flinch hearing that slightly.
"James might see the news report…i better be prepared incase he sends a hit squad here"she thought to herself though eavesdropping on her thoughts was vance who narrowed his gaze hearing that.
Then the tv showed something shocking that being the grimm knights that they dealt with. That being aarne, diego,conri, melissa, jack, nico and finally kiyo. Along with zane their making him feel embarrassed now
"Shockingly in the last few weeks we got several reports of more of these thirteen knights of grimm being slain. Though rumors have circled around being more possible but a surprise indeed. The one who started the fall known as omega a beacon student is found to be alive. But this may come to shocking to some people. For some reason these so called knights hes allied with don't see him as an ally even"he said which caught them offgaurd for a moment
"Uhhhh what did he just say?"yang asked confused as onxyia shushed her turning it up a little
"For some reason when the attack on havan happened. Shockingly two more of them are dead the one that from what we found out a women named kiyo nadko the other may come shocking. The misrtlain ripper himself with another serial killer dead himself tyrian callows. These mosnters were all put down but shockingly the one to put those grimm freaks down was this knight known as omega"he said
The news report then showed the news footage of zane fighting against the two. Though when it showed him killing jack then kiyo it made him visbale jump looking down in shame.
Adam noticed it softing his gaze"i'm guessing you want this off to not be reminded of killing them"he asked as he was about to answer
"It seems that this grimm knight may be a traditor when even atlas has had a tough time dealing with them. I mean we did some digging ourselves with the faunus from menagerie as several of them came forward to us. From what we gathered apparently…this grimm hybrid saved the faunus people of menagerie their. And several people have been coming forward from our very own academy saying the same thing"he continued which caught them offgaurd as it started to show random people on the tv they interviewed
"Oh that uh thing. Well uh i was in vale when the fall happened ran into it. But for some reason it didn't kill me instead saved me from some grimm"a random individual said with a few others coming forward saying the same thing
Then roland appeared on screen with someone asking him something
"Sir…sir! You were their on the island of the faunus when it was attacked by the same two grimm knights from the fall"the reporter asked making him scoff.
"I think you mean one"he correcred catching them by surprise
"Excuse me sir?"the reported asked
"You heard me. From what our chieftain told us he got word on our island being under attack. Along with that even help for havan defence. Even my own daughter who…tragically died on the fall teammates can back me up that he saved people their"he commented as team LZRD came into view
"Uhhh yeah kinda gotta agree with on that. Where from shade and well he aint lying"zydra spoke up
"Are you sure your not just trying to get your five minutes of fame?"the new reporter asked making dandee flip him off as it was blurred out.
"Shut up. Seriously alot of people may not take out word for it but i mean come on a few people gotta come forward admitting it. Because all i saw the guy kill was a bunch of grimm"dandee commented as the news report showed a few more interviews as well as it came to a surprise to see neptune on screen

"Alright buddy one for starters i wouldn't say kill more like saved my butt and several others. Second sometimes these news outlet are wrong i suggest you do your research. Now drop dead"neptune said as it then showed what happened on menagerie
As it showed him through a shaky cmaera fighting off the talon fighting them off expertly. Along with issuing out orders telling others to protect the faunus of menagerie. It even showed him and conri squaring off with each other brutally in his prowler form as attacked him like a wild animal
"Their you have it several people are now claiming this so called monster isn't a monster. Taking that last interview words in we did some digging. Atlas refused to release the records of that nevermore knight identity because they couldn't find it out. But a simply search in the newspaper archive gave us our answer. It seems these mysterious kidnappings are related to these knights of grimm. But we shall see as the hybrid is under the confinement of paddy bogs recon specialist for the atlas military. Thoguh another is a surprise the terrosit known as adam tarrus even assiting in the defense of havan. Also under confienment but both will probably face trials in atlas for their crimes. Sighing off"the news report ended
All of them where silent for a moment before rogue fist bumped the air
"Neptune you blue hair idiot! c'mere !"Rogue said hugging him tight right now
"Okay dude seriously. You actually said something smart for once and probably solved a huge problem"sun added offering a fist bump to him as he returned it
"Hey just speaking the truth owed grimm boy much for saving my butt"neptune replied as it made zane feel a little better hearing that right now. Nadia smiled herself sighing

As in the shower where eria was staying with the others. She walked into the showers as everyone took their own along with getting dressed for the occasions.
Eria opened the door to step inside and prepared the shower for the right temperature. Once it was the right temperature she stripped her clothing and stepped in to wash herself. She slightly flinched from the temperature but eventually her body adjusted to it as it sprayed her down
She began to wash herself down in the shower which woke her up a little. It felt nice to get a nice early morning shower in today. As she started to scrub she looked as the mirror reflection and went wide eyed. Their she saw tyrian with the shard of glass in his skull staring at her wth a sinister grin.
"My lovely wife will hunt you and your sister down…she'll kill you for murdering me girl. The first kill is always very interesting"the tyrian vision said digging into his skull as he gripped the glass shard. Then he yanked it out of his head pulling out a piece of grey matter with it.
Eria started to breath a little faster as she covered her ears closing her eyes tight
"This isn't real…this isn't real…calm down"eria muttered but she was terriefd right now as she backed up against the shower walls. She slide down as she shut them tight hoping it was gone. As she sat their taking rapid breaths she slowly opened her eyes. She looked to see that it was gone with tears on her face. It must have been her mind playing tricks on her.
As she sat in the corner then she heard a knock on the door making her yelp"hey sis you okay in their? Been like twenty minutes"rogue voice said behind worried
"Y-yeah just taking my time a little sleepy"eria quickly replied
"Okay….finish up where heading out soon"rogue said
"Ok…i will sis"eria said as she heard two pairs of foostep walk off. Maybe one of the others where with her as she let out a sigh of relief. Then she noticed tyrian was gone and she cleaned herself up.
After she got done showering and changed back into her attire heading back downstairs to meet up with everyone. They all where in suits and black ties with some of them wearing the same ones they wore at pyrrha funerals. As for a few they wore similiar ones they wore at diego funeral.
Though nora was wearign a black skirt with a black turlenck with the sleeves cut off. As ren wore a simple black dress suits along with a pink tie that jaune helped him put on. Cardin wore something similar with a blue tie. May was wearing a black skirt with a sleevless dress shirt top with some black heels. Velvet wore a simply black dress with sleeves on it as she kept looking down the entire time.
All of them where dressed up right now all except for zane who was in his usual attire
"Sucks that you can't come kid…though properly planning on doing a funeral for pirate when we head to atlas"paddy said
Zane sighed looking down"yeah…rather not start anything. Please…give my condelsnces okay"he asked
"We will though lets hope this thing isn't too big"cardin said as eria changed into a changed into black dress skirt with a black wool sweater with black charater shoes. They all left the place right now before making their way to the service
As they took a trolly car together to reach a grand building that had a line of cars outside. It caught them by surprise but it was a man who was an important figure for havan as the citizen of the city were behind some police officer forming a barricade to pay their respect.
Though greeting those who where on the family and friends of the man along with those who died. Was bastet wearing a brown and black thin trench coat with a black sleevles dressed underneath it. With a pair of black hells.
Fenix was by her side in a black tux and maroon tie as he held his daugther lavi in his arms as she wore a black skit with a black blouse as she looked confused right now it seems.
People where greeting them comforting them right now as they paid their condelsnces.
But soon the lion spotted vance walking over as he set his daughter down who noticed him. She rushed over hugging his legs looking at him
"Uncle vance"she cheered as he tail swayed around as he smiled slightly picking her up holding her.
"Heyya sweet pea….you doing alright?"he asked as she nodded
"Daddy said where getting icecream after seeing grandpa. Why are alot of people here to see grandpa and grandma?"she innocently asked startling them as they stared at her parents

Soft music was playing throughout the room as they were all getting seated at that moment. Though they all noticed a few coffins in front of the servies that was in the center of the room. That contain the bodies of coco adel, skehmet and leonardo lionheart, ryuu, along with some others who tragically lost their lives that day during the fall.
Next to leonardo coffin was hi weapon in good cotnion along with a pciture of a younger him in huntsman attire. Their was also sekhmet with a picture of him on their wedding day. Another was coco posing with her teammates as her handbag was next the coffin. Along with ryuu being their as several wild flowers lined his coffin. But beidou body was their in an atlas military unfirom with her mitlary patch and clothes on the coffin.
All of their eyes were closed as a sigh of respect for them with their arms folded slgitly and their hands intertwined with each other. All of them had bouquets of roses on them as right now laying one faba laying one down of brown flowers for his nieces as they noticed him
"Oh hello your here too i assume"may called out as he turned to them with red eyes meaning hes been crying for a while. Nezumi was by his side as she sighed
"We came here to show some respect for the girl. Once we…well…leave we'll have to break the news to her parents and brothers"nezumi sadly said startling them a little
"I forgot she mentioned having a bunch of brothers. God they'll be devastated to hear this"blake said upset
"You said it man those guys are a hoot. Though uh you doing okay sir"sun asked as the man looked down trying to fight the tears right now but sighed sniffing with tears slowly slipping down his cheeks

Immediately velvet walked over wrapping her arm around the man large frame as she buried her face into his chest beginning to let her own tears out of her eyes hugging him.
"I'm sorry…i'm so sorry that she died because of me"velvet cried shocking them that she even thinks that. Faba pulled her back seeing tears still running down her face as he whipped them away from her eyes with a thump sighing.
"This isn't your fault. I don't want to hear you start saying its your fault because it isn't. I know who took my niece and when i get my hands on him. I'm snapping his little neck like a twig"he growled as nadia scoffed
"Join the club i'm going after his dirtbag of a dad. Though i wonder if the others are here i mean arra and asher are probably busy right now"nadia said though she actually had some voices call out to her right now

But what came to them was that asher moore and maggy where here as well. As asher wore a simply black tux with a grey tie but he looked even deadier than a corpse here. Maggy just wore a simply long sleeve dress with matching black heels.
"Wait….what are you doing here arra? I thought you were escorting those refugee?"bastet asked whipping the tears away with a slight horaed voices
Immediately arrastra walked over hugging the women pulling her into a tight embrace not wanting to let go right now as she rubbed her back in a circular motion looking down with an upset look on her face
"I wouldn't miss this right now…we were good friends of your father after the events in kuchisake"arrastra softly said
This made the dam break slightly as the women returned the embrace. Qrow noticed asher walking over with maggy arm wrapped around his as the two approached him

But the man chuckled a little before staring at summer who slowly stepped forward. As asher went completely wide eyed to see her in the flesh. Before summer knew it he smiled walking over hugging her laughing slightly
'Well i'll be…the mighty summer rose is alive. Guess that video footage the doc had was true…good to see you again sum"asher said as they separated
"Yes it is i…"summer paused before feeling around her body for some reason. Then she felt around where her wallet was staring directly at asher who smirked to reveal he snatched it

The girl flinched seeing him as the two swappwed glanced with each other. Before imemdialty she rushed over with tears running down her face hugging him for dear life right now not wanting to let go sniffing and sobbing into his chest.
Asher wrapped an arm around her smiling"oh…well this is just a surprise right now. Kiddio i thought you where still with that psycho. You…you actually got free from him"he said in joy as they held it for a minute till they separate with the girl still having tears running down her face at that moment.

Maggy chuckled"well i got stuck in a cage for a while. But the only one to show anyone kindness their was this one here. Although…"she paused looking at the tiger who sighed smiling
"Yeah i adopted her i mean whats another kid. Besides i've always wanted another daughter since the other one here became old and not cute anymore"nadia teased slightly making her eldest stare at her

The group all sat down with each other close by in rows with each other. As they all where next to each with some seat reserved for them at that moment. Waiting for when the service will start.
The pastor soon came up and spoke"welcome everyone to this day. A day we remeber the lives of those who trgiacally passed on a tragic day indeed. Because without them our kingdom wouldn't be were we are today. We can't thank them enough from the bottom of hearts. We are to pay our respect to leonardo and skehmet lionheart, coco adel- sherise, beidou hargreaves and many many others who lost their lives. Their lives were taken far too soon for our world from the attack on our kindom. All of them did not die from a sickness that plagued them. No they all served our world honrabel with the deaths of huntsman, huntresses or people willng to stand up for what was wrong. They all knew the risk of that day but today we lay down these and many other to rest to pay them respects. Unfrontuanlty we will won't have the others coffin here today since some where shipped back to their homes"he paused a moment
"No more show of strength. No more acts of courage. No more battle to be fought. Today we put to rest leonardo lionheart a huntsman who soon took the reigns on leading out next generation on defending their kingdoms. He layed down his life to protect our kingdom and his people as tragiclaly his wife will be joining him on that journey. But we know that despite his cowardniess at times he showed one last sigh of bravery to hise kingdom and his people.'"the pastor replied turning his head to face the body of leonardo lionheart.
"We thank you from the bottom of our heart leonardo lionheart. May you live on peace and someone take the reigns on leading your proud academy once its been restored to proper order. "He finished before turning to the body of coco adel.
"We must thank this young women as well. She layed down her life as a huntresses like none other. No more of her warm smile to brighten up anyone day. But she did what any leader would do and protect her teammates till the end. But we pray for her family back in vacuo on hearing the tragedy of her pasing. May she watch over her family and friends from beyond the veil for the actions she did today. "The pastor turned to the body of coco adel.
"We thank you from the bottom of our hearts coco adel. May your show of strength guide those who can't protect themselves. You;ve done an honorable deed for the kingdom of mistral"the pastor said before turning to the ground.
"Now i ask you all silently pray"the pastor replied as he bowed his head as several others did as bastet tried to hold the tears back but arrastra pulled her into an embrace as they both prayed silent. Fenix started to crack sobbing as asher consoled his old friend with declan helping him
Lavi looked confused right now staying silent as vance sat her on his lap with an upset look. Neo had tears forming in her eyes as lazuli comforted her little sister the best she could. Once their they passed by several graves as the police kept the crowd back away from them. The pastor then began to give another small semnor for them but it felt like it went forever. The speed soon ended as they began to lower the casket into the ground but lavi looked confused right now worried for her grandparents
"Why are you putting grandma and grandpa in the ground. They still need to wake up from their naps"lavi innvcently said confused making alot of them not even wanna speak right now. Fenix stared at his daughter swallowing hard as tears flowed
"Sweetie…sweetie i'm sorry grandma and grandpa have to go to sleep. They need to go to sleep for a long time"fenix said choking on his words confusing her as she broke free of her mother grasp.

"Grandma and grandpa are still asleep…they need to wake up for ice cream…i want to tell grandma what i did back home"lavi said confused as bastet began to sob hugging herself as she lost feeling in her knees ugly crying. "Don't put grandma and grandpa down their! They still taking their naps and need to wake up"lavi yelled with tears forming as the pastor stepped forward with a devastated look on his face
"Sweetie please return to your parents…they can explain to you whats happening"he said with a upset look confusing her balling her hands up pounding on his legs

Seems velvet is heartbroken after the lose of her reamining teammate. Along with having lavi not understand what happened to her grandparent...not going to lie cried slightly writing that. But I wonder what will happen next chapter!
