A few years came and went, witnessing the birth and deaths of many trolls in the Troll tree. But none more tragic than the death of Branch's grandmother. Harmony had not been there that day as she was doing her job as the tree's local songwriter. It wasn't an official job, but it let her forget momentarily how much she still missed Floyd after all this time. By the time Harmony made her way to the Rosiepuff residence, she'd noticed with a frown that the laundry was half hung on the line, which was unusual. As Harmony looked closer, she saw rose petals scattered across the tree limb on which the pod sat.
Harmony was more worried than ever as she quickly approached the petals, kneeling to touch them just as the faint sound of crying could be heard nearby. "Branch?! Rosie!?" she'd call out as she followed the sound of crying until Harmony reached the ground, where she'd freeze at the sight of a grey Branch kneeling on the ground crying.
"B, what's wrong? What happened?" She asks him worriedly as she walks over to check him for any injuries. Branch doesn't respond, tears streaming down his face as he sits almost catatonically.
Knowing she won't get anything out of him, she picks him up and carries him back to Rosie's pod, where she puts him in his bed and stays by his side for the rest of the night. It wasn't until Branch came to in the middle of the night that she found out that a Bergen had taken Rosie because of Branch's singing. Saddened by this news, she'd pull Branch close to offer him the comfort she knew he needed.
With Rosie's death came several challenges: her taking care of a young traumatized Branch who has taken to refusing to sing ever again, her juggling her slowly growing career in music with a child, and then finally dealing with her abandonment issues.
Somehow, though, Harmony made it work; she stayed by Branch's side every day until the trolls finally escaped the Troll Tree on Trollstice Day. Sneaking through the tunnel they had dug underneath from the tree was terrifying, but many hoped it would work. Harmony was afraid they'd get caught, holding onto Branch tightly as she followed the crowd of trolls through the cramped tunnels.
Everything was going fine until they all could feel the tunnels starting to collapse as the Bergens began digging up the ground to find them. Before Harmony could even start running, she could feel the trolls behind her shoving past her and Branch, forcing her to run to avoid being trampled on until she and Branch were finally out of the tunnel with the other trolls, who were dirty and scared just like her.
"It'll be okay, Branch-" she starts to say as she turns her head to look down at the young troll, only to stop as her blood runs cold. "Branch?! Where are you!" She calls out, not getting a response as she frantically begins looking for him. Worried now that he was stuck in the tunnels, she'd start rushing back toward the tunnels only to stop in her tracks as the tunnel collapsed behind the King and his daughter Poppy.
Thinking he had gotten lost in the tunnels and was now crushed in them, she sank to her knees, tears trickling down her cheeks as she stared at the tunnel before she eventually forced herself to her feet.
She knew that as much as she wished she could dig the tunnels back out to save Branch, she could do nothing. She had to leave unless she wanted to be caught by Bergens. With that realization, she'd sadly make her way from the tunnels, unaware that Branch was alive and with the pop trolls as she separated from them to make her way into the world, determined not to let anyone else that close to her to avoid any more heartbreak.
