CH 26
Hour later the three of them went to hungry jacks for dinner. Nick enjoyed eating his cheese burger with chips and drink plus chocolate Sunday for desert.
Pete watches as Nikki ate her large dinner. When finish she sat back letting out her breath. "I can't believe I ate all of that"
"you and little one must have been hunger" Pete said
"Yeah. I was like this when I was having Nick. It got worse when I was four months and the craves don't start there. I'm dreading to find out what cravings I'm going to have this time"
"Well what ever it is, I'll some how make sure we got plenty of it at home"
"i know you will Pete"
"mum what cravings did you have when you had me"
"cottage cheese, pickles and olives sandwiches"
"Yuck that horrible" nick said screwing his face up
"well that what you wanted" Nikki said smiling.
When they return home Nick went to bed since it was his bed time. Pete went to tuck him in and read a book till Nick was asleep. Then he walk into the living room to see Nikki sitting down on the couch with her legs cross in front of her and her lap top on her laps. She way typing away when he walk in and sat next to her and put his arm around her shoulder
"Checking your mail"
"Yeah, look at what my brothers sent to me" she click onto one link and show Pete what one of Nikki brothers said which made him smile.
"Very funny"
"I know"
Nikki showed Pete all the links that her brothers sent to her and what she said when she send back a reply which made Pete laugh. Pete watch Nikki check her e-mail messages and the ones she reply back to before she close down her lap top and putting it on the coffee table then sitting back and leaning against him
"what a day it been"
"True, when your first ultra sound"
"when you return next month"
"Great I'll be looking ford to it"
"I know you are" Nikki close her eyes and she relaxes. Pete watch her so he move which cause her to open her eyes
"I was comfortable"
"i know a better place" he pick her up in his arms
"Pete I can walk you know"
"I know" then he walk towards the door then stop
"Lights please" Nikki turn the lights off then she let him carry her to bed.
Then they remove there clothes and got into bed where Pete turn the fan on and the lights off since there was two switches above the head board. Then Nikki kiss him before snuggling up to his side and close her eyes and fallen into peaceful sleep. Pete watch her sleep for a few minutes before he close his eyes and went to sleep him self.
The next morning Nick went next door since Nikki was working and Hammersley was leaving for it patrol. On the way to port Nikki stop off at a grocery store which just open
"Nikki"
"snacks for work"
"Ok, want me to come with you"
"I'm good"
Nikki got out of the car and open the back door to get her hat and shoulder bag then she close the door and put her hat on before walking into the store. Pete waited for her to return. When she did she was carrying two bags with her. She open the back door to put them in when she pass one to Pete while grinning
"Nikki" she move back to close the back door then open the front one and got in while Pete look at her
"Are you hungry again" Nikki laugh
"no it for you to take with you"
Pete look at her as she put the seat belt on then he open the bag and look to see what was in it. He raise his eye brows then look at Nikki who then laugh
"tooth brushes" Pete said
"Yep, know the crew, they would give you a hard time about it like they did with swain" Pete laugh
"That is true, thanks" he lean over and kiss her.
Then he close the bag and put it in the back seat just as Nikki started the car up. "now the captain and X don't have to worry about finding a tooth brush to give to the crew" Pete said
"True after all they ran out of the ones we gave to them every time captain went through number of XO"
"that is true" Nikki drove them to the dock while talking and laughing.
When they got there they both got out and Pete pick up his sea bag and the bag with the tooth brushes in. then he move back to close the door then he walk over to where Nikki was talking to Kate.
"Morning X"
"morning buffer, congratulation"
"thank you X" He said smiling
"Nav told me how she told you" Pete turn to smiling Nikki then back to Kate
"Really"
"Yes she handed you the test results"
"Ah yes then. I'm going to get change X, oh Nikki brought these for the crew, you might need to use them" Pete pass her the bag then he walk up and onto Hammersley.
Nikki watch him then turn to Kate who was laughing "Nikki"
"Well I heard you ran out of the ones that got the words XO on them and if the crew are like what they said and did to swain, it would be worse for Pete"
"sounds like it, thanks"
"I didn't get a change how my replacement"
"crew doesn't like him after the comments he said. Hopefully we will have a replacement, if not it going to be a month of hell"
"sounds like it alright"
Then the crew started walking off Hammersley they congratulated Nikki on being pregnant before they started taking boxes onto the ship. When Pete walk off the ship he smile when he saw Nikki still talking to Kate
"Hello sailor" Nikki said as he stop next to her as she look at him up and down while grinning
"Nikki"
"Yes"
"stop teasing"
"You should talk Pete"
Kate pass him the pen and clip board then walk over to see what the guys were doing "all he needs now is a whip" Nikki said making Kate laugh.
Pete stop and turn to Nikki shaking his head at her then turn to see what they crew was doing.
"Your in trouble when we return" Kate said
"i always am and knows how to punish me"
"Really"
"Yep" then they saw car stop next to Nikki and they saw who got out
"Great looks like it going to be hell of a month" Kate said to Nav
"It looks like it" Mike walk over to them
"morning Nav"
"morning sir, no replacements"
"No"
"Oh well at lest you got plenty of tooth brushes"
"what" mike look confuse till Kate open the bag to show him then he turn to Nikki and grin
"thanks"
"Well you have run out of XO tooth brushes" Kate laugh
"Very funny Nav. X how long before we set sail"
"We will sail on time sir"
"good, if you need me I'll be in my cabin" then he turn to walk on the gang way
"sir do you need X help with any thing" Mike stop and turn to grinning Nikki and blush Kate
"no I don't think so" He turn around and took two steps when he heard
"what a shame you can't help him out of his uniform Kate"
"Nikki, sounds like you hormones are out of whack"
"i know and I know who to blame for that" she turn around to see Pete bending over then spider said some thing to Pete who straiten up and turn to Nikki
"Great sexy ass Pete" making the crew laugh
"i can't believe you just said that"
"i know after all I can get away with it"
"i know" Pete walk over to Nikki
"did you have to say that in front of the crew"
"Well I couldn't say sexy naked ass now could i" Kate laugh as she walk away.
"Nikki" he gave her a look.
She step ford and kiss him "i love you to. I better go before I make things worse"
"your right" then he gave her a hug and kiss, the crew cheer them on
"Yep you need a whip to whip them into shape" Pete laugh.
"See you in a month"
"ok fair winds" they kiss once more before Nikki walk back and got into her car and drove away. While Peter went to hurry the crew along.
Hour later Hammersley left port for it month patrol. Nikki and Pete keep in contact with each other by e-mail and Skype. Nikki keep Pete up to date about his mum since she call Vicky once a week and let Nick talk to her knowing it would make her happy.
The day Hammersley return back from it patrol Nick and Nikki were waiting on the wharf when they watch as Hammersley comes in "mum is that Hammersley"
"Yes it is"
"how do you know, they all look the same" Nikki laugh
"It the number eighty two"
"Ah" they watch as Hammersley dock.
The crew wave to Nav as she did in return. When the gangway was in place
"come on" Nikki said then they walk up onto Hammersley with Nikki saluting the flag before stepping onto Hammersley.
Nick follow Nikki till she stop at an open door "Hello sailor" Nick move so he could look into the room just as Pete turn around and grin
"Well hello there" Nikki walk in to give Pete a hug and kiss "Miss you" Nikki said
"miss you to... hey I see you brought some one else with you, come here sport" nick grin as he run into Pete arms
"hi dad, miss you"
"miss you to, have you been good"
"Yes"
"Have you been helping mum around the house like I ask you to"
"Yes dad just like what we talk about"
"good boy" he ruffle Nick hair.
"how was your patrol"
"Captain trying to get a new navigator. Lieutenant O'Brien set wrong course direction and we almost ended up in new Guinea if it wasn't for X showing up and notice the wrong course direction"
"how much was you off course"
"Thirty degrees" Nikki was shock
"that a lot and it would of taken two hours plus to get back on course"
"five hours cause of the time we were on that course."
"ok, we will talk more later, I promise to give Nick a tour"
"Ok I'll be half an hour"
"ok"
"mum I need to go to the loo" nick said
"in here son" Pete open a door
"cool you got your own bathroom" He walk in and closing and locking the door.
"While he in there" Pete said he pull Nikki into his arms for a passionate kiss.
"that much better" Pete said
"Yes it is"
"How little one" Nikki got Pete hand and put it over her lower stomach
"Is that bump our baby"
"Yes it is" Nikki said smiling
"i can't wait till I see that bump"
"I bet you can't" they kiss once more till they heard the toilet flush.
"what do you feel like for dinner tonight"
"Pizza, Since nick been a good boy while you were away I ask him on the way here what he would like for dinner, he said pizza"
"Ok pizza it is and what do you want" Pete asked
"I got what I want right here in my arms" She said smiling
"Same here, but what do you want to eat"
"Chicken wings and cheese potato bites"
"Sounds good to me" then the door unlock then it open
"Come on nick, let me finish showing you around Hammersley while Pete finish his duties"
"ok mum" Nikki kiss Pete once more before she and Nick walk out of the cabin.
Pete went and finish his duties then he went and got change and pack his sea bag before leaving. When he was on the back of the boat he smile when he saw Mike talking to Nikki and Nick when he walk over to them
"sir" he turn to Pete
"buffer, enjoy your shore leave"
"I will sir, you to" they saluted each other since Pete was in his white uniform
"come on lets go and get some dinner" Pete said as they walk towards the gangway
"I already order" Nikki said
"ok what pizza did you ordered?"
"Meat lovers, peperoni and apricot chicken"
"sounds good, what do you think Nick"
"Yummy" mike watch the three of them walk off Hammersley together.
Nikki and Pete got there arms around each other with nick next to Pete. He turn and smile when Kate walk over to him carrying her sea bag.
"Are you ok" Kate asked
"Yes, Buffer just left with Nav and Nick. They sure look happy"
"just like us"
"True, heading home"
"Yes, how long will you be"
"couple of hours. Plus going to see Steve about a replacement"
"ok I'll go and get some groceries and head home then"
"Ok I'll pick some thing up for dinner"
"sounds good to me" they kiss before Kate walk off Hammersley while Mike return back to his cabin to finish his paperwork.
Two days later Nikki and Pete were at the Barry general hospital for Nikki appointment. They been looking ford to this moment since they found out that Nikki was pregnant and it would be Pete first time to see there baby not only on the ultra sound but see it grow when he at home and hopefully be there at the birth since he miss out on a lot with Nick.
When it was time and there were in a room where Nikki was lying on the bed with a sheet covering her hips since she was wearing skirt and a top to the appointment. Her stop was raise to under her breast and the doctor and nurse was there.
"Ready to see your baby" the doctor asked
"Yes we are" Nikki said smiling.
Pete reach over and held onto her hand when the doctor put some gel on the transponder then put it on Nikki stomach and move it around then he turn the monitor around for them to see
"there your baby"
"Wow" Pete said when the doctor pointed out where the baby is
"amazing" Pete said again
"Yes it is" Pete turn to Nikki who turn to him with a smile of her own
"there our baby"
"Yes it is" Nikki said then her cell phone rings.
Pete let go of Nikki hand so he could get it out of her purse and pass it to her to answer it
"Unknown number" Nikki said before answering it
"Hello Nikki Tomaszewski...Hi victor... what" Nikki look shock as she turn to Pete
"Is she ok... ok... Yes he here...Sure" she pass the phone to worried Pete
"your mum in hospital, chest infection" Nikki said
"Uncle victor, how mum... yes... ok... your in trouble... sure... hi mum... you don't sound to good" Pete walk away to talk to his mum.
"Pete worried about his mum"
"I'm sure she will be fine" the doctor said
"It not that simple, she got stage four cancer and she got about two month..."
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that" she turn when Pete walk back over to her
"Yes mum you get some rest, hang on Nikki want to talk to you" When Nikki held her hand out.
He pass the phone to her "hi Vicky... yes he been looking after me... I know...Vicky want to hear some thing special...ok" Nikki gave the doctor a nods so he turn the volume up
"Can you hear that...that the baby heart beat... yes first ultra sound... yes that normal... no not till next month... ok you get some rest and we will send ultra sound picture to you... ok, bye" then she hung up.
"Nikki are you ok" Pete ask as she started to cry. Nikki sat up on the bed and wrap her arms around Pete
"Hey what wrong, what did mum say"
"that she wish she would be here when the time comes, it not fair Pete" He rub her back
"i know" He turn to the doctor and nurse
"Nikki told us about your mum"
"i heard" when they pulled part Pete wipe her tears away while looking at her
"I'm sorry Pete"
"don't be, it not your fault"
"i know" He kiss her
"At least she heard the baby heart beat"
"True" Nikki lay back down again and Pete held onto her hand.
They spent the next few minutes looking at there baby before the doctor finish what needed to be done then he wipe the gel off Nikki stomach.
"Every thing looks great, I'll see you in a month time" He said as he pass Pete copies of the ultra sound
"thank you doctor" Nikki said.
Then he walk out of the room so Nikki could get dress. Once done they walk out of the hospital with there arms around each other.
Two days later Pete called the hospital to see how his mum is doing. He is please that the chest infection cleared up and would be going home in few days.
