"You're not making my life easy Shepard. Firefights in the Wards, endangering Britannian Royalty, while the Britannians are still baying for blood mind you, an all out siege of Chora's Den do you know how many..." Ambassador Udina stopped his hard gaze sweeping past the freshly arrived Hana to Tali'Zorah who stood with Susaku a protective step just ahead of their VIP. All around the office Hana noted that the E.U., Chinese Federation, Japanese, and Middle Eastern Alliance Ambassadors were setting up their desks likely preparing for their own work ahead. "Who is this? A Quarian, what are you up to, why are you dragging a whole array of aliens to my office?"
Hana could hear Garrus huff slightly at the statement. "Proving several points all at once Ambassador. First meet Garrus of Citadel Security who was in charge of the investigation of Saren, whose investigation was stonewalled by Saren. This is Wrex a mercenary hired by the Shadow Broker to take vengeance on Saren after Saren betrayed the Broker to eliminate vital data that would place Saren both on Eden Prime and as the commander of the Geth attack. Which this Quarian has the evidence placing Saren in command of the Eden Prime attack."
"Really, well maybe we should start from the beginning miss..." Udina started, and Tali gave a slight bow, proper for interactions with a Britannian or E.U. aristocrat, but out of place with the current crowd.
"My name is Tali', Tali'Zorah Nar Rayya." The Quarian answered before looking uncertainly to Susaku.
"We don't see many Quarians, why did you leave the flotilla?" Udina asked.
"I was on my Pilgrimage, my right of passage into adulthood." Tali answered simply, though Susaku clearly had more to ask.
"Pilgrimage? Like to a holy site, or something?" The Japanese man asked.
Tali laughed slightly. "It is a tradition among my people. When we reach maturity we leave the ships of our parents and our people behind. Alone we search the stars only returning once we find something of value to bring back with us to the flotilla."
Hana raised a eyebrow. "What kind of things do you look for?"
Hana could hear Wrex muttering in the background. "Three hundred year war against Synthetics, gotta be guns and ship parts."
"It could be large stocks of resources, like food or fuel, or a useful technology. Or maybe they learned knowledge or skills to improve life on the flotilla. Through the Pilgrimage we prove we are of value to our community, rather than a burden on the Fleet's limited resources." Tali explained.
Susaku shrugged and then asked. "So what did you find that would have Saren out to kill you?"
"During my travels I began hearing reports of Geth gathering in the traverse. Since they drove my people into exile they had never ventured beyond the veil. I was curious. I tracked a patrol ship of Geth to a uncharted world were they started making camp. I waited for one to become separated from its unit, then disabled it and removed its memory core." The Quarian stated earning a shocked expression from Anderson.
"I thought Geth would fry their memory cores upon capture, a defense mechanism." Anderson stated.
"So how did you manage to get the data?" Hana prompted the Quarian.
"My people created the Geth, we know how their core systems work. If you're quick, and lucky you can occasionally snatch data cashes with useful data. Most of the Core was wiped clean, but I still managed to salvage some portion I thought could hold some value. This was in its Audio banks." As she spoke Tali activated her Omnitool and soon a recording was playing.
Background noise like that of a ship maybe a space station or a Dreadnought began playing and the familiar voice of Saren began speaking. "Eden Prime was a major victory. The Beacon has brought us one step closer to finding the conduit."
Anderson almost lit up in excitement
"That's Saren's voice! This proves his involvement in the attack!"
"Yeah, but what the hell is this Conduit he's talking about, and why would Eden Prime bring him a step closer to it?" Hana asked.
"The Conduit must have been something on the Beacon, or why Saren attacked in the first place. Maybe a Prothean technology, or a weapon! I knew it, he's out to slaughter humanity." Anderson insisted.
"Wait there's more on here." Tali stated, a hint of frustration in her voice. "Saren wasn't alone." And Tali hit her Omnitool again and a new voice played.
Now a smooth feminine voice joined whatever conversation was taking place. "And one step closer to the return of the Reapers."
Udina scowled. "I don't recognize that second voice, the one talking about Reapers."
Hana turned to Tali. "Are they some sort of new Alien species? A Geth ally or something?"
Tali shifted on her feet nervously. "According to the memory core, the Reapers or Old Machines, were a hyper advanced machine race that fifty-thousand years ago hunted the Protheans to extinction. And then they just vanished... at least that's what the Geth think."
Susaku raised an eyebrow but now Ashley and Garrus spoke first with Ashley scoffing. "Didn't show up in my history books."
Garrus shrugged. "We just need more evidence for that."
Susaku then turned to the Quarian stopping her before she could respond. "What do you think, Tali?"
"Makes more sense than the Protheans just giving up a galaxy spanning empire to just disappear for no reason. Synthetics are... weird." The Quarian stated with a shrug.
Udina shrugged. "Even though it sounds far fetched, it's not something we should really care about, it has no bearing on our case."
Hana wiped sweat from her brow. "My vision on Eden Prime. It was probably the Protheans being killed by the Reapers. Though it feels like there's something else to it still."
Udina scowled at Shepard. "Or just remnants of your psychotic break. Once this is all over your doomed for a psych evaluation and discharge Shepard. The only reason you're here now is political, don't you forget that."
"I don't get that, but call the Reapers whatever you want. The Geth have taken to revering them as Gods, and they think Saren can bring them back." Tali interjected before shuffling back, clearly scared to deal with human psychology and internal politics.
"Robots worshipping mythical Robots and a Turian serving as their prophet. The Council is just going to love this." Udina scoffed.
Hana took a step forward thrusting her finger down. "The Reapers are a threat to everyone. We have to warn them."
Anderson then stepped in. "Regardless of anything else, those audio files prove that Saren is behind everything. And if we can get the Britannians to share what they have we can also prove that Saren killed Nihlus. We can prove Saren is a traitor already!"
"The Captain is right, I need to get this to the Council immediately!" And Udina stormed to his computer typing away.
It was then that Kaiden and Wrex both shrugged before Wrex spoke. "What about her, the Quarian?"
"My name is Tali." The indignant Quarian replied.
"We can't risk a civilian Commander." Kaiden stated speaking for the first time since this meeting started.
"You saw me in the alleyway, I can handle myself! You know what I can do let me come with you. I tracked and bested a Geth scout ship all by myself!" Tali insisted.
Garrus shrugged giving the Quarian her due credit. "That is impressive."
"But what about your Pilgrimage?" Hana asked.
"The Pilgrimage proves we are willing and capable of giving of ourselves to the greater good. It would undermine my entire Pilgrimage if I allow you to face an entire army of Geth without a Quarian at your side. Your Captain keeps saying Saren is a danger to the entire galaxy, my Pilgrimage's completion can wait." The impassioned Quarian seemed like she was about to go into a much longer speech but was stopped when Susaku spoke up.
"We can also teach her a few skills the fleet might find valuable. After all our ship doesn't have a Knightmare tech, and I don't think I can repair those damages alone." The Devicer insisted but Hana suspected he had a few other motivations behind his insistence, just what they were Hana couldn't put her finger on.
Hana smiled welcomingly. "Well to avoid a riot among the men, I have no choice but to happily invite you to help... though between impending court-martials, and questions if the Council will do anything to help us in that regard might not be a long or successful mission. Even so glad to have you aboard."
At his desk Udina stood straight. "Anderson and I will be going ahead. Finish cleaning up your mess and see if you can't convince the Britannians to share their evidence on Saren. Then meet us in the Council chambers."
Once Udina left Shepard turned back to her team. "Ok Tali wanna help me collect a reward from the Asari Consort, maybe check out this club called Flux before we go to the Britannian Royal Manner?" Garrus raised an eyebrow while Wrex chuckled, but Ashley and Kaiden both sighed.
"You should have just asked me to help wring out a few payments Shepard." The Krogan stated.
"I have some forms to submit to C-Sec, I'll meet up with you all at the Council Chamber." Garrus announced while walking out of the room.
And now Susaku somewhat sighed. "Williams, Alenko, I'll accompany Shepard and Tali."
Ashley smirked. "Real eager to jump on that grenade Susaku. Well good luck."
Lelouch stood back over the railing that allowed him to observe the Council's proceedings. At his side Kallen stood with a bundle of small bags hanging from a strap on her shoulder, next to Kallen stood Villetta who was similarly dressed with similar bags at the ready. And down below the Citadel Council was in session with the Hanar ambassador the Hanar in the midst of its current tirade in trying to convince them to make a declaration that would put all Prothean ruins and relics in human space under Council protection to prevent further destruction of the 'gifts of the Enkindlers'.
"... This one shall summarize the previous speech. The relics of the Enkindlers are endangered by the negligence of the human race. This one would prefer that the relics and sites are declared holy sites of the Enkindlers. However in the interest of Galactic unity and prosperity, It would suggest that the Council places every relic and ruin originating from the Enkindlers under the protection of the Citadel Council to prevent their destruction." The Hanar Ambassador finished his speech.
Valern was the first of the Council to speak in response to the Hanar. "The loss of the Eden Prime Beacon was a significant blow, however present evidence suggests that the Geth had every intent to destroy the Beacon and were more likely to be responsible for its destruction."
Then Councilor Tevos jumped in. "Yes, and not only in this stage but in general an intervention of this magnitude would send the wrong message to humanity..."
Lelouch scoffed. 'You want humanity, but not as equal allies but to work for you, and you fear anyone who would resist you. The Krogan, the lystheni clans. You couldn't make it any more obvious that you want humanity to "solve" your Batarian problem.'
"... A message that couldn't be further from the truth. We on the Council wish for humanity to become contributors to galactic society, not to engage in petty squabbling with their Superstates."
And Councilor Sparatus then closed the debate before the Hanar representative, overly polite as ever, could get its turn to speak. "Besides the Citadel doesn't have the resources to do this, garrisoning each site already would be a difficult endeavor, let alone finding any still buried sites before human Tomb Raiders found them."
And with that the hearing was decided and the Hanar turned to float away while the Councilors turned off their speakers and silently began to talk among themselves, all while Lelouch used his Omnitool to discreetly listen in. "Sparatus, what does that... large busted human woman my youngest daughter is obsessed with have to do with Prothean relics?" Tevos asked.
"What? What are you talking about? Tomb Raiding, it's a human profession...what does breasts have to do with raiding tombs?" Lelouch watched as Tevos turned away from her fellow councilor in embarrassment, just as Udina began walking towards the podium likely to shout some more angry nonsense.
However Lelouch was distracted as Kallen answered her comm, and then a moment later hissed out loudly, "You did what?"
Kallen looked away from Lelouch and towards the main stairs to the Council Chamber as if looking for someone, however all there was was a single Turian in a C-Sec uniform who was far too happily tapping away at his Omnitool and who kept stopping to laugh as he did so.
"Who the hell is Commander Shepard?" The Knight asked still scanning.
"No I didn't see them on Eden Prime... What no you never shared that with me!" As Kallen's face grew increasingly red, Villetta took notice and joined Lelouch in listening into the conversation of the distracted and highly distracting Knight.
"What the hell does having a Quarian with them have to do with... no, just that data wasn't supposed to be shared without the Prince's permission, I don't care if you're not under his direct command or not." Now Lelouch was nervous, the only people not under his direct command who had information that shouldn't be shared were Lloyd and Cècile.
"What the hell sort of excuse is, ' After talking to her Euphemia liked her'? Wait I think I see her now..." As Kallen spoke the elevator opened and the far too happy Turian walked up to and joined a group led by a Japanese woman in N7 armor, behind the woman a Quarian girl and the Alliance Devicer from Chora's Den followed with a Krogan following close after.
The group walked up the stairs straight to Captain Anderson, the walking figurehead for the Alliance supremacy movement. There the Captain turned and joined them storming up the steps toward the Council where Udina was now playing an audio clip of Saren congratulating his Geth army for the attack on Eden Prime while an image almost certainly taken a short time ago from Lloyd showed a side angle view of Saren being lifted up and interfacing with the Prothean Beacon.
The audio finished and Udina pointed to the space between himself and the Council. "You wanted proof there it is."
Sparatus sighed and shook his head. "The evidence is irrefutable. The Council will strip Saren of his Spectre status and all efforts will be made to bring him in to make him hold an account of his crimes."
Beside Sparatus Councilor Tevos looked worried. "I recognize the second voice on the recording. It's Matriarch Benezia."
Hana raised an eyebrow and took a half step forward. "And is that a name of importance?"
Up in the overhang Lelouch almost scoffed, 'just what is the Alliance teaching their men if they couldn't recognize what a Matriarch is?' The Prince thought to himself only to feel himself deflate with disappointment as beside him, while Tevos was giving her explanation Villetta muttered to herself just loud enough for Lelouch to hear, "oh that's what a Matriarch is".
Tevos nodded to Shepard. "Yes, Matriarchs are powerful Asari, who have entered into the final stage of their lives. Revered for their wisdom and experience which has allowed them to live as long as they have. They serve as Guides, Mentors, and Cultural leaders among my people. Matriarch Benezia in particular is a powerful Biotic with a wide following, even I had turned to her for advice in the past. If she has joined Saren, he has gained a powerful ally."
Valern then interjected. "I'm more interested in these Reapers that they are talking about, do we have any intelligence on that?"
Anderson stepped forward while Lelouch listened carefully. The Beacon data was sure to contain more that Anderson had, but it was always good to gauge the knowledge of one's rivals. "We could only confirm what was extracted from the Geth's memory core. The Reapers were an ancient race of Synthetics who waged war with and wiped out the Protheans. Then they vanished."
Lelouch leaned in listening only to be startled, though not revealing any sign of it, as another woman, one Lelouch didn't recognize with black hair, glasses and a diplomatic buisness dress with a large bag like purse leaned on the railing next to him with a smirk, her golden eyes locked on Lelouch and full of mischief. "Isn't partial knowledge so misleading? It's sad how easily people jump to conclusions that benefit them."
Down below Shepard took the lead again. "The Geth worship the Reapers as Gods. Saren has made himself the Prophet of their return."
Anderson then continued Shepard's line of reasoning while Lelouch locked eyes with the woman next to him. "So Lelouch, are the Reapers a threat to all life, a myth, or something else? Maybe they're your ancient Gods, your saviors from the oppressive Protheans, or maybe they're a symbol for the absolute limit of biological life?" The woman chuckled while Lelouch glared, certain he knew this woman but was unable to place her.
Down below Anderson gave his explanation to the Council. "We think the Conduit is the key to their return, one way or another. Saren is searching for it, that's why he attacked Eden Prime."
"Do we even know what this Conduit is?" Valern asked while the woman across from Lelouch continued her prodding, but next to Lelouch Kallen prepared her Gun-Sword and Villetta loosened her gun holster strap.
"Yes Lelouch. Which Conduit do you put your faith in? What shall be your crucible?" The woman again teased.
"Saren is looking for it and thinks he will get whatever it is he wants from it, he wants to bring back the Reapers. That's bad enough." Hana's voice echoed up from down beneath the Britannian Prince and the woman challenging him.
Lelouch sighed. "I don't yet know, but I will learn."
"Oh, aren't you Britannians supposed to be superior to everyone else? Why does it sound like you know less?" The woman then turned to look down to the proceedings below.
Sparatus then interjected. "Listen to what you're saying. Saren wants to bring back the machines that wiped out all life in the Galaxy? Utter nonsense, it has to be. Where did the Reapers go, why vanish without a trace, and why is there no evidence of their existence. If they were real we would have already found something."
Next to Lelouch the woman frowned. While Hana Shepard continued the argument. "So far the track record with you and me has been if I believe something is true and you don't, then it clearly is true. Saren's betrayal, the Beacon. Betting against my judgement is a losing bet, and you're doing it with the lives of everyone in the Galaxy."
"So Lelouch. How much about this do you think your Father knows?" The woman asked her expression hard as she glared down at the Council. Beside her Lelouch now also frowned, she was playing into his suspicions about his Father, his unspoken detest for the man.
Now Councilor Tevos spoke. "This is different, you proved that Saren betrayed the Council, and that he's using the Geth to search for the Conduit. But we have no hard evidence why.'
At her side Valern then joined in. "Let's assume that Saren is using the Reapers myth to deceive the Geth and mask his true objectives."
"So you'll accept that the Protheans just vanished without any evidence as to why fifty thousand years ago. But won't even entertain that the reason why might be because they were exterminated. If Saren finds the Conduit that extermination will happen again!" Shepard pressed.
Above it all Lelouch shrugged. "At this point what my Father knows of this can't have an impact on what's happening."
"Can't it?" The tone was mocking.
"Saren is a rogue agent on the run for his life. He's been cut off from all Council resources, he's been stripped of his Spectre status." Sparatus insisted as Udina stepped forward with the man's perpetual glare getting worse.
"That's not good enough! You know he's hiding somewhere out in the traverse. Send your fleet in!" Udina demanded.
"A single fleet can not track down one man." Valern retorted.
'Udina is a war crazed lunatic. How the Alliance chose him is a true mystery.' Lelouch thought.
"A Citadel fleet could secure the entire region. Keep the Geth from attacking any more colonies!" Udina insisted.
Now Sparatus interjected. "Or spark a war with the Terminus Systems. We will not be dragged into a galactic war over a few human colonies."
"Humanity needs this help, this is well beyond what the Superstates can even pretend they can deal with!" Hana stated.
"Self obsession. Being blind to the truth of others. Masks and Lies. That is what they hate." The woman muttered next to Lelouch.
"I am sick of this council and it's anti-human bul..." Udina began but his microphone was cut off as Tevos interjected.
"Ambassador, we have another solution. A way to stop Saren, add a layer of protection for your human colonies. One that does not require fleets or armies." Tevos stated while looking over to her Turian counterpart.
'So that's what this farce is about. With the Turians leading the opposition and with popular support it would be next to impossible to make a human into a Spectre, but with the potential scandal staring them in the face and worse a potential war sparked by their rogue agent, Sparatus has no other option.' Lelouch thought grimly to himself.
As Lelouch thought through the political theater before him, Sparatus protested the suggestion of his fellow Councilor. "No they aren't ready for the Spectres. Humanity's infighting already is a setback, what if the responsibilities crushes them?"
"I already faced Saren on Eden Prime, the Geth, and I managed to salvage the entire situation despite Saren trying to destroy everything behind him and the Britannians interfering. I proved to you despite the veil of secrecy and Saren's agents how he was involved with everything that happened, despite your insurance otherwise. And I have one of the best combat records the Alliance has ever had, and I have the backing of the Japanese government while also having Nihlus wanting me in the Spectres. And you think that by making my job easier for me you're going to crush me?" Shepard countered while making Lelouch clench his teeth.
"So whose going to be crushed? The Alliance Marine, looking to wash away a bitter bloody past, or the Britannian Prince seeking truth and to reshape the galaxy?" Lelouch's golden eyes companion asked, causing Lelouch to cast a glare her way, but the woman was already gone, stepping into an elevator alone while removing her black hair and revealing her long green hair beneath.
'What the hell did she mean by that?' Lelouch wondered as the elevator doors closed concealing the woman who was already rapidly changing her clothes.
The Council silently cast their votes and then reviewed their voting panels before casting their focus back to Shepard with some dramatic intent. Then Tevos spoke. "Commander Shepard, Step forward."
As Tevos spoke, more of those looming over the Council Chambers all gathered to watch as the Council began the exceedingly rare public initiation. Asari, Volus, Elcor, Salarians, Turians and even humans of each nation gathered to watch.
Tevos then began the public initiation. "It is the decision of the Council that you be granted all the power and privileges afforded to the Special Tactics and Reconnaissance Branch of the Citadel."
"Spectres are not trained but chosen, Individuals forged in the fire of service and battle. Those whose actions elevate them above the rank and file." Valern then intoned.
Next Tevos continued. "Spectres are an Ideal, a symbol. The embodiment of courage and determination, self-reliance. They are the right hand of the Council. Instruments of our will."
Lelouch rolled his eyes. 'Labels, but those titles mean nothing.'
Now Sparatus joined in, "Spectres bear a great burden, they are protectors of Galactic Peace, both our first and last line of defense. The safety of the galaxy is theirs to uphold."
Now Tevos joined in. "You are the first human Spectre, Commander. This is a great accomplishment for you and your entire species."
"Meiyo o arigatō." Hana responded while bowing to Council in a formal manner.
Now Valern took over. "We're sending you into the Traverse to hunt down Saren, he's a fugitive from justice. You are authorized to use any means necessary to apprehend or eliminate him."
Lelouch scowled. He had plans for the Traverse, having a Spectre out there was going to endanger many of those plans. He'd need to message Milly at the very least, couldn't risk that thief of hers on Noveria and Shepard crossing paths.
"Any idea on where to find him?" Hana asked.
"We will forward any relevant files to your Ambassador and to Captain Anderson." Sparatus stated.
"This meeting between the Council and the Federated Systems Alliance is adjourned. Last on the schedule for today is Britannia's Eleventh Prince, Lelouch vi Britannia, bringing forth an issue on behalf of the Britannian Emperor Charles zi Britannia." Tevos stated, and now Spectre Shepard turned to Anderson accepting the man's congratulations while Lelouch made his way to the elevator to go down to the podium.
Lelouch passed Shepard's group, scowling at them all the while. Anderson was talking about giving something to Shepard, likely as Lelouch knew that Spectres were expected to be given initial provisions by their government and then expected to provide for themselves. Indeed Saren wasn't the only Spectre with his own little private army, while not the majority, many Spectres had anything from an elite team, to a full mercenary outfit waiting to be called upon. And as Shepard was now the first Spectre, likely the Alliance would be showering her with little gifts to keep her tied to them. As his Father and his older brother had both noted, a Spectre in the pocket was worth as much as an entire Knight Order.
Meanwhile Villetta and Kallen spread across the chamber planting the packages across the chamber getting everything ready as Lelouch walked up to the podium. "I am Lelouch vi Britannia, and son of Empress Marianne." The Prince announced as he stepped to the Podium.
"Bring your grievance to the Council and present your case so we can determine the validity of your claims and make a judgement." Valern stated in rote barely even looking at Lelouch.
As the Councilor spoke Lelouch put on a smirk. "Sorry but this is less of a case of me having some petty gripe, and more an incoming declaration." The Prince responded, and as he did both Kallen and Villetta took their positions behind Lelouch.
"What are you trying to do Prince?" Sparatus demanded now glaring at Lelouch.
"Just this." The Prince stated activating his Omnitool and hitting a key that activated the four holographic projectors each working together to create a single all encompassing image. As the image first appeared many in the crowd flinched but then everyone straightened.
Looming over the Council Chamber looking down imperiously and with complete disdain for all who may be in the chamber. The head was truly massive anyone in the room barely able to amount to a mouthful for the giant among them. Not one to take any half measures, the holograms not only had their own speakers, but the Emperor also had Lelouch hack the Council speakers allowing the holograms voice to match the ego of the Emperor that the hologram displayed.
"I will keep this simple and short, so even the most simplistic of you can understand. From now on the Armstrong Cluster, the Kepler Verge, and Attican Beta are now all dominions of the Holy Empire of Britannia. Any violations of our sovereign claims will be met with the full might of the Britannian Navy and Army. Any violators will be treated as invaders of Britannian lands and annihilated. No mercy and no quarter. Any attempts to try and reverse this claim will be nothing less than an attack against myself, my family and Britannia itself. You have one week to remove any assets belonging to the Citadel Council from these regions of Britannian space, otherwise we will mark them as Mercenaries and Pirates and destroy or seize them as such. The Might of Britannia shall mark the path to the future, this is our crucible, the fires of conquest which shall see the Geth's fleets broken where even the Quarians failed, and where the Asari and Salarians fear to even try because of their incessant failure. This shall mark Britannia as the true rulers of humanity and the determinators of this Galaxy's future. All Hail Britannia!"
And then the hologram and its recording ended. The Council of course was left silenced by the sheer audacity of what the Britannian Emperor had just done, and this silence was all the cover needed for Lelouch to turn and make a hasty retreat from the podium. As he fled Lelouch kept a mask of neutrality even as he seethed within. While it wasn't a declaration of war, his father had essentially begun a proxy war between the Council and Himself. Now those territories were certain to be flooded by every pirate possible, as well as the Geth, and any other proxies the Council decided to send into the Traverse. And why send him, was it because Lelouch's father saw him as the most expendable of the Princes? Lelouch could hear the Council calling for him to come back, but it was too late, Lelouch was certain to reach the elevator and make a clean escape.
Akmaleeee: Your welcome.
Imperial warlord: So far simple enough, but I think this one came out interesting.
OMAC001: possibly, but we have seen some certain logos already.
Pkd: But the cannons are inconsistent and placed in spots where... based off ME logic the layout of the ships is already a little counter intuitive since they obsess over momentum with the inability to recognize that part of the math equation for kinetic impact is Mass of the object thrown. So safely wrapping those guns into the broadsides, which apparently the Normandy is the only Frigate that doesn't have any, makes more sense.
Though why have gunners, or broadsides when ME logic just turns all ship battles into a duel of the main guns which run the length of the entire ship and can only be aimed by the ship engines and thus the pilot is beyond me. Still having some ships that can manage volume of fire rather than being in a perpetual dick measuring contest with the main guns has value. And the Asari Ships haven't been abandoned entirely as useless crap for not embracing the dagger frame design so there has to be some tactical value to ships with shorter barrel guns since the Asari are decentralized as all fuck and it's amazing that their government scapes enough money together to pay beat cops on the streets let alone fund building the Citadel's (pre-humamity) second largest navy. So if the Asari see value to shorter wider ships, then there has to be something other than a suicidal death wish behind the reasoning.
