"Doctor Reagan."

Jamie had just picked up the chart of a woman named Amy Rayerson when he heard someone call him. Turning around, he found it was Mr. and Mrs. Garson. He held a nervous laugh in and remained professional.

"Mr. and Mrs. Garson. Is something wrong?"

Matt stepped forward and stuck his hand out. Jamie was expecting him to deck him one. Almost gingerly taking Matt's hand, Jamie shook it. He then listened to what Matt had to say apprehensively.

"Doctor Reagan. I just want to apologize for the way I acted the other day. It was completely inappropriate. Thanks to you, our little man is healthy and happy. I just want you to know, that when the time come for us to have a second baby, you'll be our first choice when Megan is ready to deliver."

Jamie nodded and gave his two cents.

"Just take care of this beautiful family."

Matt shook hands with Jamie one more time and watched the new family leave the maternity floor. Taking Amy's chart, he walked down the hallway towards her room. Stopping for a minute, he knocked and then entered when he heard someone respond. Smiling over at Amy, he gave her a sympathetic look.

"How are you doing in here Amy?"

Amy tried to smile at Jamie, but a contraction tore through her, and she tried to bite back a scream. He guided her through the contraction and gave her encouraging words.

"Bare down and breathe through the contraction Amy. Just breathe. In and out. In and out. There you go. Ok, almost there."

Jamie correlated with the machine that Amy was hooked up to and made a few notes in her chart. Setting the chart on the end of the bed, he listened as Amy made light conversation with him as he washed and dried his hands at the sink.

"I think Jessie will be the first one out. Their all girls, but I think she'll be the first. She's the stubborn one. I never imagined when I got pregnant that I was going to have triplets."

Jamie smiled as he put a mask and then gloves on. He kept the conversation light as he sat down in front of Amy.

"Well, this is the first set of triplets I'm delivering. I've delivered close to 3,000 babies. Quite a few sets of twins. But this set of triplets are the first. You are doing wonderfully Amy. Where's Todd?"

Todd was Amy's husband. He'd been there for every appointment Amy had. But today he wasn't here. This made Jamie wonder. Amy spoke up as a nurse helped put her feet up.

"He's stuck in traffic. He's sick with grief that he's not here with me right now. I told him not to rush over here and take his time. I want him to be here with me to see these little girls being born, but not at the expense of him possibly getting injured."

Jamie nodded and kept his professional mask on.

"Ok Amy, deep breath in for me. There you go. One more."

Amy winced and looked away.

"Is she coming?"

Jamie looked up and nodded.

"Yes. I'm going to start count down from 10. I want you to start pushing. When I get to 1 we'll take a little rest for a minute ok?"

Amy nodded her head, and a nurse helped her leaned forward.

"Ok."

Jamie smiled behind his mask and started counting down.

"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4… You are doing great Amy! Keep pushing! 3, 2, 1. Ok, let's take a little break."

Amy shook her head no and continued to push.

"I can do this Doctor Reagan! Really!

Jamie nodded and stayed seated. Sandy kept a hold of Amy's hand and squeezed it.

"Keep pushing Amy! That's it! Ok, the head is out! Here come the shoulders! I got a right shoulder. One more push Amy! One more!"

Amy let out a cry. Jamie couldn't tell if it was from the pain she was experiencing or that she felt alone.

"Where's Jessie?"

Jamie held up a screaming baby and let out a laugh.

"I've got her Amy! Here's your beautiful little girl Jessie!"

Jamie was still holding up Jessie when the door to the room opened, revealing Amy's husband Todd.

"I'm here baby! Oh my god, that's a lot of blood…"

Wincing inwardly, Jamie shook his head and had Sandy cut the umbilical cord and place Jessie on her mother's chest. The other nurse Mara leaned down next to Todd and took his pulse. Amy looked down at her husband's fallen form on the floor.

"Todd? Honey? Are you ok?"

Jamie turned his attention over to Amy and reassured her.

"Amy he's ok. He's breathing. He just doesn't like the sight of all this blood. We'll get him re-hydrated and on some oxygen for a little while and into a bed. He's going to be just fine."

Amy couldn't help it. Her emotions were so high right now.

"You're sure he's ok Doctor Reagan?"

Jamie nodded and continued his conversation.

"Yes. I promise."

Amy nodded and turned her attention back to her daughter Jessie.

"Hi baby girl. I love you. Daddy is ok. He'll see you when he wakes up."

Hours later, Todd was back in the room with his wife looking down at his last little girl Rebeca. He was tracing her tiny nose with his seemingly large index finger. Turning his attention back to Jamie who was just finishing up, he gave a nervous smile.

"Look Doctor Reagan, I'm sorry I made an embarrassment out of myself and passed out. I don't normally do stuff like that. I don't know what happened…"

Jamie gave a small smirk as he threw away his soiled gloves and mask into the biohazard bin by the door.

"No worries, Todd. You're not the first father I've seen lose consciousness in the delivery room while his wife is giving birth."

Todd gave a chuckle.

"Good to know doc. Before you go, would you mind taking a picture with us?"

Jamie smiled and nodded politely.

"Of course. You have a beautiful family."

"Hey, sorry I'm late. Difficult C-section. How long have you been standing here?"

Eddie smiled over at Jamie and grabbed for his hand.

"Not too long. It's ok. I know how your job is. Sometimes you stay later. Happens to me too."

Jamie and Eddie had been going out for the last couple of months. It was still new, and they were still learning a lot about one another. But it felt good to be spending time with someone outside of work other than coworkers.

Before Eddie, he hadn't had much of a social life. Not since Sydney anyways. She'd called off the wedding because she didn't agree with him becoming a doctor instead of a lawyer. He'd loved Sydney, but not the same as he did Eddie. The love he had for Eddie was different. It was something he'd never felt before. He couldn't describe it.

"Ready to go? I've got a great place picked out for dinner."

Eddie's eyes widened.

"Jamie… Where are we going?"

Jamie raised his eyebrows and gave a small smile, pulling her in for a kiss as they reached the outside of the hospital. Pulling away, he answered.

"It's a surprise, and I think you're going to like where we're going."

Eddie's smile grew.

"Mmm, as long as its somewhere where I can get a decent steak. I'm starving."

Jamie laughed and pulled her in for another kiss.

"Good, because I want to treat my girlfriend to a nice meal."

Eddie's excitement grew.

"I'm imagining a mouthwatering steak in front of me right now. How fast can we get there?"

Jamie looked down at his watch as they stepped into a cab.

"Forty minutes. I made the reservation for 7:30pm."

Thirty minutes later the arrived at their destination and Jamie held the door to the cab open as Eddie got out.

"Gallaghers? Really? It's kind of expensive…"

Jamie held out his hand for her to take and she accepted it.

"I told you I wanted to treat you to a nice dinner. You want a mouthwatering steak, don't you?"

Eddie nodded and headed inside with Jamie.

"Yes, I do!"

Jamie looked at the host just inside the door.

"I have a reservation for 2 under Reagan."

The host nodded and grabbed a couple of menus.

"Of course, sir. Right this way."

The couple followed the host over to a table next to the window, where the hustle and bustle of the city went on just outside. Sitting down, Eddie looked down at herself.

"Geez Reagan, I feel so underdressed here. I wish I would've known where we were going. I would've worn that little black dress you like."

Jamie leaned over the table and placed another kiss to her lips. Pulling away, he answered.

"You'd look sexy in just about anything."

Eddie rolled her eyes playfully.

"Well, now that we decided that I look hot not matter my wardrobe choice, Let's order. Excuse me? Waiter?"

Jamie smiled and shook his head, starting to peruse the menu looking for something that looked appetizing.

To Be Continued…

A/N: So, question for you guys: how's my pacing with Jamie and Eddie? Moving too fast? Or at just the right pace? Let me know! Thanks!
