"Ok and breathe. That's it. Take nice deep breaths. There we go. That's it for today. I'll see everyone next week."

Eddie gave Jamie a weary smile and stuck her hands out in front of her.

"Help me up babe."

Jamie gingerly helped Eddie to her feet. She made a face and looked him in the eye.

"Oooh. Jamie, I need to sit down."

Nodding and looking at her with concern, Jamie helped her sit down on her pillow.

"Actually Eddie, how about instead of sitting on your pillow, let's lie you back on it ok? Easy. Easy. There we go. Let me just call Doctor Carollson and Mara over here. Aren't you glad that we are having these classes in the hospital?"

Eddie wasn't sure what was happening. Jamie turned his conversation over to Doctor Carollson and Mara.

"Doctor Carollson. Mara. Eddie needs help."

Sighing, Eddie stared up at the ceiling.

"Slow down baby girl. Not yet."

Jamie looked at Eddie and gave her a sympathetic look.

"Easy babe. Just breathe. Now, are you experiencing any contractions?"

Eddie shook her head and watched as Doctor Carollson put a blood pressure cuff around her left arm and took her pressure.

"What's going on?"

Doctor Carollson gave her a sympathetic look and reassured her.

"Shh. It's ok Eddie. I just need you to lie back and relax. Ok?"

Jamie knelt beside her squeezing her hand. She was doing her best to remain calm. Feeling the blood pressure cuff become less tight around her arm, Eddie watched as Jamie put her knees up so that her feet were flat on the ground.

"Just relax babe. Let's get your knees up. There we go. This is just a precaution. What do we have Doctor Carollson?"

Doctor Carollson frowned and then looked at Jamie.

"Her blood pressure dropped. That's why she started losing consciousness."

Jamie nodded and looked to Eddie.

"Let's check a glucose level really quick. Could also be her sugar dropping too fast in combination with the low blood pressure."

Mara smiled at Jamie and quickly poked Eddie's index finger.

"Already on it Doctor Reagan."

Eddie winced and then glared at Mara.

"Ow."

Mara gave her a sympathetic look.

"Sorry Eddie."

Jamie sighed when he looked at the blood sugar meter as it beeped.

"60. What was her blood pressure?"

Doctor Carollson frowned and shook her head.

"80/65."

Now it was Jamie's turn to frown.

"Ok. Eddie. You're going to need to be on a monitor for at least an hour or two."

Eddie began to protest.

"Jamie. I'm fine. I just need to eat."

Jamie sighed once more and kissed her forehead.

"We just want you to go on the monitor for an hour or two to make sure you and the baby are doing ok. I'm sure she's fine. But we just want to make sure. You know me, I leave no stone unturned when it comes to the health of mother and child."

Eddie's eyes became wide, and she looked Jamie in the eye.

"Jamie? What if this has something to do with that funny shaped blood vessel inside my uterus?"

Jamie had to admit, that was on his mind too.

"Don't worry, we'll look into that. We'll cover all our bases alright? Right now, I just need you to take a deep breath and relax. There you go sweetheart. Mara and I are going to help you lie on your left side. There you go."

Eddie was nervous. She didn't know what to think at the moment. She just wanted their daughter to be ok. It wasn't long until she was in a semi-comfortable bed listening to her daughter's rapid heartbeat. Doctor Carollson gave Eddie a sympathetic smile as she moved the wand around for the ultrasound machine.

"Let's see what we have here."

Squeezing Eddie's hand, Jamie had his eyes glued to the machine next to the bed. Pointing with his pinky finger at the lower part of the screen he spoke.

"Can you zoom in on that a little more? Lower left quadrant."

Eddie's eyes were glued to the screen as well.

"Is she ok?"

Jamie nodded his head and then turned to kissed Eddie's forehead.

"She's fine honey. We're just ruling out some theories we have."

Eddie nodded and willed herself to stay calm. Jamie on the other hand was a ball of nerves on the inside, even though he had his professional mask on.

"Let's get images of all four quadrants. I don't want to miss anything Jenna."

Now it was Doctor Carollson's turn to give Jamie a sympathetic smile.

"Jamie. You can relax. Eddie's in the clear. Nothing has changed. That strange shaped blood vessel still has adequate blood flow. Good placental blood flow. No obstructions, no placental tearing, and no signs of an abruption."

Jamie let out a sigh of relief and helped Eddie clean off the gel from her belly. Placing a kiss to Eddie's belly he spoke.

"Baby girl, mommy and daddy love you. Give your mom a little break. She's doing a very hard job keeping you healthy and growing."

Doctor Carollson smiled at Jamie.

"Well, I don't see why we can't kick you out of here. Eddie's blood pressure has come back up and her blood sugar is normal. Make sure she eats."

Eddie smiled.

"Don't worry. Eating won't be a problem. I'm sorry if I caused any problems for you guys."

Doctor Carollson only smiled.

"You didn't cause any problems Eddie. We're here to make sure you and your baby are healthy. I'll have Mara get the discharge paperwork and you two can get out of here. I'll see you two in class next week. Take care."

Jamie shook hands with Doctor Carollson.

"Thanks Jenna. We really appreciate what you're doing for us."

Doctor Carollson smiled.

"All part of my job Jamie. As you well know. Well, I'm due up in the OR for a C-section. I'll see you two next week."

Mara looked to Jamie before she left the room.

"Doctor Reagan, I wanted to give you an updated list of your schedule."

Jamie put a hand up.

"Mara, I'm off till Monday, leave it in my box please."

Mara nodded and smiled.

"Of course. Have a good couple of days off. Glad you and the baby are ok Eddie."

Eddie nodded.

"Thank-you Mara. If Jamie gives you a hard time, talk to me. I know all his weak spots."

Mara laughed.

"Oh, I think I know all his work weaknesses. But I'll drop you a line if I need help."

Eddie smiled and nodded.

"Noted."

Mara left the room and was back in a few minutes with Eddie's discharge paperwork. Jamie helped Eddie put her shoes on and helped her to her feet. She wrapped her jacket around her tighter.

"I'm cold."

Jamie nodded but looked at her.

"I can see that babe. But it's boiling outside. You're not going to want your jacket when we get to the car."

Eddie nodded.

"You have a point there babe."

The summer had been brutal so far. It also didn't help that their apartment was on the 12th floor of their building.

"How about we go home, and we order in. Get you comfortable on the couch and put those feet up."

Eddie loved that Jamie was so caring. This was one of the many reasons she fell in love with him.

"Ok. As long as we could get something spicy."

Jamie gave a soft laugh.

"Well, then this baby girl is going to have a lot of hair on her head."

Eddie gave a smirk of her own and then laughed.

"That's an old wives tale Jamie. It's never been proven that eating spicy foods is linked to how much hair is on a baby's head."

Jamie gave a chuckle.

"You've been reading, haven't you? I think we should read together. I know sometimes you have a lot of questions. Let's go home and get you comfortable. I'll get you anything you want."

Eddie laughed and leaned into him as they got to the Chevelle.

"This is why I love you. You know exactly what I need and when I want it. Must be that anticipation thing you do with Mara, isn't it? At work? She anticipates all your needs in the delivery room."

Jamie turned to Eddie before he turned the car on.

"Why Eddie, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you were jealous of Mara and I."

Eddie looked at Jamie and made a face.

"Why would you think that Jamie? She's your work wife. You two work well at work together and you know what each needs while working. Work wife and husband. Just like me and my desk partner. We're work husband and wife."

Jamie turned to Eddie.

"You and Officer Sanchez? I can believe it. I've seen you two when your handing each other cause files back and forth."

Eddie smiled to herself.

"Glad you and I see eye to eye on this particular conversation. Now, when we get home, scratch getting Thai food. The baby now wants a stack of buttermilk pancakes with blueberries and marionberry syrup."

Jamie nodded and turned on the car.

"Well now that you want breakfast, I'll have to get some bacon and eggs. Now I've got a craving for bacon."

Eddie gave him another face and laughed.

"If I didn't know any better Reagan, I'd think you were going through a sympathetic pregnancy with me."

To Be Continued…

A/N 2: So, this was just a hiccup in the road. Nothing is wrong with their baby girl. Thoughts on what you would like to see in the next few chapters? Let me know! Thanks!
