A/N I think Edward's prone to depression. In his first TRS story, he was bullied into depression and he can be down on himself canonically, sometimes. My FanFiction buddy inspired this fic, because of her engine psychologist in her Thomasverse.
Emily was seeing another new client. So, Edward's prone to depression, she thought. According to his driver.
Edward arrived and Emily asked, "So, Edward, I've been told you're prone to depression. What depresses you?"
His reply was, "I sometimes get very depressed when other engines treat me like an old, weak, useless engine. I get really down on myself and cry in my shed or with an engine I trust, like Henry or Thomas, when my age being talked down gets me in depression." and he began to cry, small sobbing and sniffling with a sad look. "Th-This i-is o-one o-of th-those t-times," he said, every word was another sob.
Emily said, "Let it all out, Edward. Go ahead and cry. In my therapy, just open the floodgates as needed and let the tears out. Your crew, if present, or I, with your consent if it's just us, can dry the tears if you like. I've got hankies for that and I don't judge anyone for a waterfall of tears. Vent and I can help you find the words to express your feelings and help you see from a new perspective, if needed or you're ready."
Edward's driver said, as he pulled out a cloth from his pocket, "Cry it out. Edward, I'm here for you, just to wipe away tears from your eyes.". He rubbed his engine's cheeks and wiped his wet eyes, then pressed the cloth to his eyes and wiped all his tears away as best he could as Edward went on sobbing.
Edward said, sobbing, "I-I f-feel o-old, w-when th-they c-call m-me w-weak a-and u-useless. I-I j-just w-want t-to h-help, b-because I-I'm k-kind. Wh-When I-I f-first c-came h-here, b-bigger e-engines w-were m-mean t-to m-me b-because I-I w-was o-old and sm-smaller. I-I c-care h-how o-others f-feel", sniffled again, hard, coughed as he choked on his tears and hiccupped. He gasped and gulped, shaking with his sobs and let his driver comfort him.
Edward finished his cry and his driver dried his last tears away, wiping his cheeks and eyes dry of tears. He went back to the cab with the sodden cloth, then Emily continued with Edward.
Emily asked Edward about the rest of his life, just to know how to best help him. After he told her his story, she said, "I know now just who you are, kind, wise and patient. However, not being treated the best can hurt.", when the session ended. She left to go about the rest of her day.
Edward had a drink and then on with his day as well.
A/N This is a part of him that showed in his first book story and the less TRS-based time of the show.
