Chapter 8 Plans
"Good morning my love."
"Good morning umm and a lovely morning it is."
She stretches and moans and leans over and gives him a little kiss and jumps out of the bed.
"Hey where do you think you are going? Get back here."
"Boo I have to use the bathroom and we have to have showers. We need food cause last night's activities took my energy."
"Yeah kinda zapped mine too. You were a little wildcat last night and I have the marks to prove it. But I am not complaining at all."
"Good you better not be. God I love you my darlin sweet man."
"Lord Annie Rose, my sweet girl, I love you so much words can't begin to say how much."
"Come on love shower with me. We need to hurry so we can get ready for today. I know today is going to be slow all morning but after lunch we will be very busy. I would like to get everything together this morning before we talk to Elliot."
"Yes, I was thinking the same thing. We want two more hangers larger than the ones we have now right? And we want them to open from the top?"
"Yes love we do. Glad you mentioned that. I need to grab the blueprints for the hangers. We also need another office building for our employees."
They got their showers and ate breakfast. They met Jason and Gail at the car.
"Good morning you two. Are we ready for today?"
"Yes Jason we are. It's going to be a long day and this morning we have to sit down and go over what we want Elliot and his crew to do."
"Are you talking about the extra hangars you want him to build?"
"Yes and another office for our employees. With the new employees we will need more room and break rooms for everyone. We want them all to be comfortable."
"Of course you do. You don't need a tired or ill pilot flying clients around."
"No ma'am we sure don't. I feel like our pilots have ample time in between flights to rest before going up again and again. Don't you all think so?"
"Yes Ana I agree with you. It's not as soon as they land they take off again. You all have more pilots waiting in the wings to fly the next group up."
"Thank you Jason. Now I have a question for you Jason. What do you think about us having two new helicopter hangars built? They will be two stories so that we can have an opening at the top so the guys don't have to roll them out and put them back in every time. It will only be for smaller helicopters. We will have helipads for them to land and take off on."
"That's a good idea. I don't know if you know this but I am sure Elliot does. You can get the prefabricated buildings they are easy to put together and take down. You can have them that open at the top. They are a lot less expensive than building one. The company can come in and put them up for you or you can order them. They will deliver them to you and show Elliot and his crew how to set them up."
"Oh I read something about that a while back but didn't know how reliable they would be."
"Oh yes, they are very reliable. We used them in the Marines. You can get them temperature controlled. That way no condensation will get to them and possibly mess something up by getting wet."
"Oh now I didn't know that. Yes, we will have to talk to Elliot about them, Might be a good idea if you sit in on our meeting at lunch time with him."
"I can do that but I don't want to step on Elliot's toes. I will be there if he needs to ask me any question about the reliability of the prefabricated buildings. I will help all I can."
I am sure he won't mind the more knowledge the better. Gail, you are welcome to join us. We are having lunch catered in."
"We need Mable, she is purchasing manager and Chad and Brent are financing since. We can all roll numbers and see what all we can do. We might be able to add more down the line later if these work out."
"I think I will sit this one out. You don't need a roomful of people when you all have so much to do and talk about. Thank you though and I will have lunch with you."
"Alright sounds good."
They arrive at work and Jason and Gail do their by opening doors and checking the premises to make sure it is all clear.
They all walk to the door and Jason unlocks it and walks in first.
"Come on, it's clear no one is here yet. Y'all are early I do believe."
"Thank you Jason. Would anyone like a cup of coffee? It should be ready. I set it before we left yesterday."
"I'll go and check Ana. You two go on to your offices. I should say office because there is no wall between you."
"Yeah, we'll blame that on Chris and Elliot for doing it that way."
"Hey I can't help it if I want to be close to you all the time."
"Ain't he just the sweetest?'
"Oh go on you two."
They all laugh.
It's work time and everyone is coming in.
"Good morning everyone."
"Good morning Ana, Chris and everyone else."
"Mable I need you Brent and Chad in my office at lunch time. We are having lunch delivered from Downtown Grill. If you will give your order to Gail she will be more than happy to order what you all want. We are having a meeting with Elliot about adding new hangar buildings."
"Alright I will be there and I will bring the monthly purchasing budgets with me."
"Yes ma'am thank you."
"Brent you and Chad please bring what you need so we can make sure everything is feasible for these building.
"Yes Chris we will have the financial reports with us. May I ask what this meeting is about so we can be better prepared."
"Well we are wanting to add two more hangars to our property. There are two ways to go. We can have Elliot and his crews to build from the ground up or we can go with these prefabricated hangars. Jason told us about the prefab on the way to work this morning."
"Yes I have heard of those and from my understanding they are very well put together and are less expensive. Yes we need to get Elliot's take on them after all he is the architect. He knows more about this than we do."
"Thank you Brent and we will see you all at lunch."
They all went back to their offices and started checking financials and reports. Chad was looking into prefabricated versus building from the ground up.
"Brent, I think it would be better to go with the prefab. From what I have been reading they are not only less expensive they are easier to maintain and if they wanted or needed to move them they could."
"That's interesting, let's see what Elliot has to say. After all this is his cup of tea."
Lunch time rolls around and everyone comes walking in with their folders. Elliot, Jason and Gail walk in and sit down too.
"Lunch is on the way. Would anyone like anything to drink while we are waiting?"
"I got it sugar. What can I get y'all?"
They all wanted water.
Lunch was delivered and they ate then they got ready to get down to business. Gail left after lunch.
"I know you all Elliot. He is going to go over some things with us about adding a new office building and our two new hangars."
"Hello everyone, good to see you all. Ok now let me say this I looked at some measurements last night from what we have already done with this office. I think it would be less expensive if you just add on to this one. There is more than enough room to add more offices, break rooms we can add another kitchen and more bathrooms."
He waits to see what Ana and Chris are going to say.
"We won't be crowded adding on to this building?"
"No, because I want to add the new offices and all the extra rooms from the back. I want to make this office wider and higher, not longer, I would like to add some offices by building an upstairs. There will be plenty of room. Look at these blueprints I drew up compared to the ones that you and Ana did. See the difference? This way when we decide where you want the hangars you will have room length wise and I won't have to cut up more ground to accommodate for the buildings."
"Alright now this won't interfere with us working here in our offices?
"No Chris, everything will be done from the back."
"I like the idea of an upstairs. We should have done that to start with."
"Yes we should have but none of us thought about it."
"Ok now if I may interrupt Elliot?"
"Ok course Brent."
"Thank you now, can you give us a ballpark figure on the cost?"
"Yes I can look at these figures and tell me what you think?"
"Oh wow I thought it would be double what this building cost."
"No, the reason being I have a lot of the material in my warehouse. Cut out the middle man this time."
"Very smart move."
"So the bottom line is forty three thousand. I am saving you thirty thousand."
"Ok that sounds very good and wow what a savings Elliot. But can you afford to do that big of a cut for us?"
"Of course I can. I told you I have the material in my warehouse and I have extra left over from when I built this office. I knew y'all were going to need it so I didn't use it for any other jobs."
"Well thank you bro."
"You're welcome. Now what about the new hangars you are wanting?"
"Well we were thinking of having two helipads built on top of them. I think it would be better to have them on the ground floor. We do want the roofs to open up though."
"Alright, we can do it. Now which helicopters are we going to put on the helipads?"
"We want them for the smaller helicopters and the bigger ones out on the ground. They can be rolled into the hangars."
"Do you want the same as the other ones or something different?"
"Well Jason mentioned using prefabricated buildings like a lot of companies are doing. He said they used them in the service and they were very economical and some were temperature controlled. Have you used these or heard anyone saying how they are?"
"Yes I know about them. I have a few buddies that have them. They are easy to assemble. You can have the company that would deliver them set them up. Or I can do it. But it would be smarter and safer to let them set them for you. They know more about what they are doing than I would. They have to use cranes to stand the sides up."
"Ok so would it be less expensive to go with prefabricated hangars? How much would the difference be?"
"Well for me to build two hangars with temperature controlled units and the size you are wanting we are looking at close to three hundred thousand."
"Elliot, Chris I just looked at the website and they can do it for seventy thousand less. So what do you think? Can they set them up and make them sturdy enough to withstand the wind blowing in them as the helicopters take flight?"
"Yes they can. They are built to withstand earthquakes in some places and high winds."
"Let me talk to some companies that I know will treat you both right."
"Ok that's fine. Now when can you start on the office building?"
"Oh I can start that tomorrow. I don't have anything pending and besides I am contracted to y'all."
"Yes we know that but I know you have side jobs. We agreed to that and if you have anything that needs finishing please do that first."
"My crew are waiting for you to give us the go ahead."
"Alright, alright start tomorrow. Thank you."
"Now if we are finished I will leave you and go make some calls. I will be able to give you some numbers tomorrow."
"Sounds good thank you Elliot."
"See you all later. If I get any answers I will come over and talk to you and Ana tonight."
"Alright thanks."
Elliot walks out.
"Alright what do you all think? Are we looking good financially to do this build?"
"Yes we are, we are looking very good."
"Alright well right before we leave there will be a meeting Friday morning. Everyone will be required to attend. There will be breakfast catered from Betty Jo's. It will be buffet style."
"Is anything wrong Ana?"
"Oh no, no nothing is wrong. We just want a meeting. We have decided to make some changes but nothing bad. No one is losing their jobs. We might be adding more employees."
"Alright well we go back to work."
"Have a good day all.
"I think I had them worried there for a minute."
"Yeah I think you did."
Alright now we are done and time to get to work. I have a tour over Dollywood in a hour Boo. When is your tour?"
"Mine is at three o'clock."
"Sandy, can I see you in my office please and bring your Ipad."
"Yes Ana I will be right there. Would you like some coffee?"
"Yes please just cream, thank you."
"Yes ma'am."
Sandy walks into Ana's office.
"Thank you for the coffee. Now I need you to send out a mass email to all of our employees and all of our pilots. Please make sure no tours are scheduled for Friday morning from nine o'clock to eleven o'clock."
"This is for maintenance also correct?"
"Yes Sandy, every employee we have. I feel like they need to be here too to know what is going on."
"Yes ma'am I will put that out as soon as I get to my desk."
"Please add that breakfast will be served. It will be catered by Betty Jo's and it will be buffet style."
"Yes ma'am."
Sandy goes back out to her desk.
"Hey love, did you get everything done?"
Yes I did. I told Sandy to make sure there were no tours scheduled from nine o'clock to eleven o'clock. I feel like that is sufficient time to go over everything we need to talk about."
"Yes I agree with you it should be and maybe we will finish before eleven. That way if we do, the employees can sit around and talk about what we have decided to do."
"Yes I think so too."
"Alright Boo I have a tour to take over Dollywood. My clients are here and I will see you in a few hours. I love you."
"I love you Annie Rose."
"Yes I will be here. My tour canceled the three o'clock and changed it to four thirty this afternoon."
"What was the reason for the change?"
"It was Gerald who wanted to show his brother our helicopters. He is from Georgia and he was running late because of an accident on interstate 75 North coming out of Atlanta."
"Oh accidents we can understand."
"Yes we do and I am not worried about Gerald he wouldn't lie to us."
"Oh lord no he wouldn't he has been friends with our dads for years."
"Yeah I know that's why I told Alice to reschedule four thirty."
"Do you think his brother will be interested in buying one from us?"
"Not sure why he wants to look at them. I don't even know if his brother has a pilot's license."
"Well you can find all that out when they get here."
"Alright love got to go love you."
"Be careful Annie Rose, I love you."
Ana walks out of her office and goes to talk to her clients about the tour.
"Gail you ready to ride?"
"Yes ma'am let's do this."
"Hello I am Ana Steele and I will be your pilot for this tour. This is Gail, she is my co pilot. She flys every tour with me."
"Hello my name is Carrie Jennings and this is my husband Tony and our daughter Letty. Nice to meet you all."
"Nice to meet you all as well. Have any of you ever been up in a helicopter?"
"Well I have when I was in the army but that was quite a few years ago."
"Ok well have you told your family about what they will experience going up and in the air?"
"Oh yes Ms. Steele I have and they are looking forward to the flight over Dollywood. We want to go to Dollywood in a few weeks and we would like to see it from the air."
"That's a good idea, you can see everything from up here. Excuse me for a moment. I have to do my flight prechecks. I need you all to put on your cans. I mean headphones. These helicopters are loud."
Ana checked her fuel, her gauges and made sure her passengers were secure.
"Tower this AnnieRose7548 asking permission to take off for Dollywood?"
"AnnieRose7548 you have clearance for takeoff."
Ana, like a pro, brought the bird up in the air like she has done for the last three years.
She hears her female passengers scream and then laugh.
"Carrie, are you and Letty enjoying yourselves? I surely hope so. We have about twenty minutes and we will be over Dollywood."
"Oh my yes I love it. It took my stomach for a minute. Thank you for asking."
"That's what I am here for to make sure you enjoy the tour and you are alright."
"Ms. Gail, how often do you fly?"
"Tony, are you enjoying the flight so far? You haven't said anything. I was wondering if it was me doing the flying."
"Oh no Ana you are doing fine. I am just amazed at the scenery. I have never been this way. We live in Tampa, Florida and mostly all you see is water on the west side."
"Everytime Ana takes her helicopter up I am with her."
"That's cool so you two are good friends?"
"Yes, Letty, we are very good friends."
"Alright we are coming up on Dollywood. I have cameras equipped on here to take pictures if you would like to have some. I can't fly too low but you can see from the pictures when we get back what Dollywood looks like from up here."
"Oh wow that will be so cool. Want it mom and dad?"
"Yes Letty it will."
"Would you all like your picture taken in the helicopter?"
"Oh can we really while we are flying?"
"Yes dear you sure can."
"Yes please."
"Alright all of you look straight ahead see the red dot flashing? When it stays solid the camera will take your picture. It will show you in the helicopter."
"Cool."
Are you all ready?"
"Yes Ms. Gail."
"Get ready to say cheese and smile."
The camera is flashing and they get ready for their picture to be taken.
"Smile mom and dad?"
"Alright got it and you can have your picture when we get back to the office."
"Thank you Ms. Gail."
"You are welcome Letty."
They are flying over Dollywood and Letty is so excited. She is bouncing in her seat.
"Calm down child."
"I am sorry I was just excited to see it."
"There is Timber Canyon and some of the roller coasters in Wildwood Grove, Rivertown Junction there's some good eating places in The Village. Here is Jukebox Junction and Owen's Farm. There are Adventures in Imagination, Wilderness Pass and Showstreet where a lot of music entertainment is performed."
"Oh my goodness this place is huge. Thank you for taking us on this wonderful tour."
"You are welcome. Now it's time to go back."
"Do we have to Ms. Ana?"
"Yes honey we do. I will take you on another flight whenever your parents are ready to go again."
They arrive back at the helipad and wait for the blades to slow down so they can get out.
"Wait for the blades to slow down please. Keep your heads down when you exit the helicopter for your safety."
After they are away from the helicopter Ana takes the memory card out so they can develop the pictures for the Jennings.
"Just the guy I am looking for. Aaron, would you please take this and develop these pictures? I am going to give this family a tour of the helicopters that are in the hangars while you do that."
"Yes Ana I will have them ready when they are ready to leave."
"Thank you."
"I would like to show you the helicopters we have. Some or for tours others are either sold or for sale."
"Oh I didn't know you sold them too?"
"Yes sir we do. We didn't at first but there was a big demand for us to and well it has gotten bigger and we have to add more hangars."
"So I imagine you all sale to the ones that fly in Pigeon Forge?"
"Yes sir, we do from time to time. We also have out of state sales which are from word of mouth."
"Very nice two businesses in one. I thought about doing something like that a few years ago but there were way too many commercial helicopters in Florida."
"Yes, I can imagine Disney world and all the beaches. I know there are tours there that people like going out over the beaches. So you decided with all the commercial helicopters you didn't think you could make a go of it?"
"Yeah something like that and I would have to buy the helicopter and find somewhere to keep it safe and all the things that are required to have one. To me it wasn't in our budget."
"Yes they cost a lot to maintain."
"Ms. Ana, you have small ones and big ones."
"Yes Letty we do. We have two people, four people and we have one very large one that seats up to seven people. Would you like to see it?"
'Yes ma'am please Ms. Ana."
"Follow me it is over here in a hangar by itself because it is too big to have anymore in here with it. That is why we are building two larger hangars."
"Oh my goodness dad, look at this helicopter it is huge. What kind of a helicopter is this Ms. Ana?"
"It's a Bell 407 Seven-Seat Light Helicopter. The cabin inside is very comfortable."
"May we look inside please?"
"Of course you can. Come on, I will show you the inside."
"Wow when you said it was comfortable you were right."
"Thank you for showing us this one."
'You are welcome. Your pictures should be ready now."
They all walk back to the office and Christian is waiting on them.
"Mr. and Mrs. Jennings and Letty, may I introduce you to my fiancée Christian Grey. We own this company together."
"Very nice to meet you Mr. Grey, your fiancée has been a great tour guide on this trip. We have enjoyed it tremendously. You have a wonderful young lady there."
"Thank you . Ms. Letty, how was the tour for you?"
"OhmygoodnessitwasawesomeamazingIlovedeverybitof itMsAnashowedusthebigsevenseaterandletusseeinsideit ItwassocomfortablesittinginthoseseatsIdidn'twanttoget up."
She takes a deep breath.
Everyone was laughing.
"My word Letty you are ten years old not five slow down we can't understand a word you are saying."
"I am sorry it was awesome and amazing and I loved every minute of it. Ms. Ana showed us the big seven seater and let us see inside it and the seats were so comfortable I didn't want to get up."
"Now that is better."
"Wow you did have a good time. We try to make every experience a good one and a memorable one."
"Well you did for this little girl. We enjoyed it too. We told Ana that we were planning to go to Dollywood in a few weeks and this tour showed us where everything was. We are on vacation and we don't usually come to the mountains. We live in Tampa and are so close to the beaches but this year we let Letty choose where to go and she chose Dollywood."
"Well I am glad she did. She and you all will have a wonderful time there. It is amazing and there is so much to do.?"
"Excuse me, sorry to interrupt but I have the photos for the family."
"Thank you Aaron. I appreciate you doing them so quickly for me."
"Would you all like to see your picture in the helicopter first?"
"Oh boy do I."
"She is still on cloud nine."
"Look mom and dad oh wow this is so cool. The kids at school won't believe me unless I show them this picture. It is so good and shows us flying you can see all around the helicopter that we are flying. Thank you Ms. Ana."
"You are welcome and here are your pictures of Dollywood so you can see where you want to go when you get there in a few weeks."
"Oh mom look this is so clear and I see what Ms. Gail was telling us and pointing out to us. The roller coasters, the water rides, the food places oh my goodness look closely there is Ms. Dolly and she is waving at us."
"Well I'll be that has never happened before. How about you Boo has that happened on any of your tours?"
"No love it hasn't none that I am aware of anyway."
"Um Ms. Ana, why did you call Mr. Grey Boo?"
"Oh I'm sorry Letty, that is a nickname I gave him when we were little kids and it has stayed with him all these years. I didn't mean to confuse you honey."
"No ma'am you didn't, I was just wondering about it all and it is a cool name."
"Well Ms. Letty thank you and yes it is a cool name. See we are the same age well I am a few minutes older than her. My parents and her parents are best friends. My mother and Ana's mother gave birth to us on the same day only a few minutes apart. How about that? We were both crying and our dads put us in the crib together and we stopped crying and were holding hands. And from the day Ana could talk until now I have been called Boo by her and I have always called her Annie Rose. It was to aggregate her when we were little but I love the name so it stuck with her. Don't let her fool you, she loves it when I call it that."
"Oh that's your name and or call letters on your helicopter. I remember you saying it before we took to the sky."
"Yes ma'am it sure is."
"Well we have held you all up long enough we need to get going and I am sure you both have things to do. Ms. Ana we did sincerely enjoy the tour and we loved to hear about your childhood. It is amazing."
"Thank you Mr. Jennings I enjoyed showing you all around and hope to do another tour for y'all if you want one. Don't mind Christian he loves telling that little story about us but it is true."
"Well we are going now thank you for everything Ana. You made this little girl's dream come true."
"My pleasure and I have a gift for you Letty."
Ana walks off to her office.
"Letty this is for you. I hope you enjoy it. It is remote controlled so let your dad and mom show you how to fly it."
"Thank you Ms. Ana."
She runs to Ana and hugs her around the waist.
"You are welcome sweet girl and we hope to see you all again. Bye for now."
The family walked out and left.
"Well love that was interesting."
"Yes it was and she was so sweet and very well behaved inside the helicopter. She did bounce a few times but she was excited to see Dollywood."
"Yes you could tell she was still excited when she ran all her words together. I don't see how she could do that without taking a breath but I guess kids can. I don't remember if we did that."
"I don't either, Boo. Don't you have a tour to take?'
"Yes I do but they aren't here yet. It's not four thirty."
"Well Gerald and his brother have twenty minutes."
"I am sure they will be here. I know he would call if they can't make it."
"Alright love I am going to find something to drink. I am done for the day but I have a showing of a four seater to a company out of Knoxville. It shouldn't take more than an hour tops unless they want to purchase it today."
"Well it looks like Gerald is here. I will see you later love and have a safe flight."
"I will and I love you. Good luck on your showing. Oh you know if they buy it we will have to order another one?"
"Yes I know but I don't think they will buy it today. Anyway we have to check them out financially unless they are paying up front. Then we have to check their license and credentials."
"Yes ma'am we do. Ok see you later."
"Later be careful."
Ana and Gail meet with the men that want to look at the six seater helicopter and they told her they knew they were are interested in buying it and they have all their credentials in order and all four of them have had a pilot's license for at least ten years.
"Gentlemen, I am aware that you are interested in our six seater Bell 407 seven seater light for six passengers."
"Yes Ms. Steele, we are very interested in it."
"If you gentlemen will follow me to the hangar I will be glad to show it to you. It is top of the line and after you all look at it I will give you the price."
"That will be fine as I stated in my phone conversation to you. We know they are expensive machines."
"The Bell 407 can fly for a range of 324 miles. This is a luxury helicopter for travel and very comfortable seats and plenty of room."
"Well Mr. Richmond what do you all think about the helicopter? I know you all are qualified to fly the six seater. We have to check everything by law before we can let anyone fly it. I hope you understand?"
"Of course Ms. Steele we do. Now Ms. Steele I believe we have taken up most of your late afternoon. What is the price of this luxury helicopter? We are very interested in this one."
"This one is four million dollars gentlemen."
Not one of them batted an eye. I guess they knew the price.
"This is the paperwork we have discussed and everything you all need to know is on there. If I can help in any way please feel free to call me."
"Let us talk it over and we will be in touch with you next Monday one way or another. But we are very interested in this one and we would have to fly elsewhere to purchase one. We have heard very good reviews of you and Mr. Grey about your company and your knowledge of helicopters."
"Thank you sir and I will be looking forward to your phone call. Hopefully we can do business."
"Yes ma'am we hope so too."
The gentlemen left and Ana and Gail went back into the office to wait on the men.
"Ana, did you see their faces when you told them the price? They didn't even bat an eye. They knew the price."
"Yes they knew the price and they knew we were the only ones that had one close enough to them. I do believe we just made a four million dollar sale."
"Lord how mercy, that's a very expensive toy."
"Yes Gail they are but some people like to travel in comfort and the Bell 407 is a luxury helicopter."
"Yes it is that."
"We will see what they say on Monday."
Meanwhile Christian and his tour
"Christian Grey, I would like for you to meet my brother Walter. I have told him so much about you and Ana. He knows your fathers but not as well as I do. He has been in the Army and is just now retiring."
"Thank you for your service Walter and nice to meet you sir."
"My pleasure Christian and thank you. I am sorry about the delay but I have found out everytime I come through Atlanta it is a mess."
"No apology is needed sir, we know how Atlanta is. It is a mad house on the best day."
"Yes son that is true. Now where are we flying that pretty bird this afternoon?"
"Well Walter Gerald didn't give me a specific tour, he just wanted me to take you both up and show you the countryside and the mountains. We will be flying over Dollywood and the rivers. Any particular place you would like to see? Just let me know."
"That sounds good and did Gerald mention that I wanted to see your helicopters that you have for sale?"
"Yes he did and may I ask if you have a pilot's license and all the credentials you need if you are interested in buying one?"
"Oh no problem, yes I have everything I need. I was a pilot in the Army for the last fifteen years. Matter of fact I flew the medic helicopter."
"Oh wow that is amazing. Yes sir, I do believe you are qualified."
"Yes I am and Gerald is too. He just doesn't like to pilot one much."
"Really Gerald you never told us that. I bet our dads know don't they?"
"Yes Christian they do. I just never cared for flying one myself. I can if I have to, I am still certified and all."
"Ok well then let's go get in this pretty bird as Walter said."
