"Ugh, it feels as if I had split my body into thousands!" I said as I sat up on the couch, with Eda spitting out her drink. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you." I said as I rubbed my head as she coughed.
"Scare me? You've been out of it for days!? Are you ok!?" She questioned as she practically ran over to me, getting into my face.
"Yeah... just felt really tired is all." I said, placing my hands on her shoulders and pushing her back. "What happened?" I asked, with her crossing her arms.
"Luz and her friends held a moonlight conjuring, something happened and you were out of it. Ring a bell?" She asked, with me shaking my head.
"Last thing I remember was talking to you and Luz after my fight with Lilith." I said as I scratched my head.
"That was a week ago!?" Eda said in shock.
"Stop yelling, my head feels like it's going to tear itself apart!" I said as I grabbed my head as it was ringing.
"Huh, kids first hangover, only downside is, is that you missed the best part. The drinking!" She said with a laugh, where I laid down.
Later that day
I was sitting on the couch with King laying on my lap. Me passing out for so long worried him, and he wasn't really scared of touching me. Eda was doing her thing, and Luz was talking to Gus, who had come over.
"Gus, I'd love to go to school with you, but I don't know how I can." Luz said as she points to her banned poster, which also had one of me with thousands of eyes as a wanted poster and Eda behind me. "Principal Bump banned me from Hexside."
'Oh, yeah, I forgot about him.' I thought as I sat up and switched clothes, now wearing the white suit.
"You know, it's still disgusting watching you absorb and suddenly wear other clothing." Eda said while pointing at me. "But nothing." She said as she looked at Luz. "Bump did you a favor. There ain't nothing for you at that dweebus factory." Eda said before looking at Gus. "No offense, dweebus."
"It's okay. I come from a long line of dweebuses." He said, with me rolling my eyes at him.
Luz slams the box she's holding down, making it clatter. She stands and looks at Eda. "Well, I would love to go some day. Better than unpacking boxes in the Eda Coven." Luz said, confusing me on what was going on.
"Oh, you think you're clever, huh?" Eda said as she stood up, placing her hands on her hips.
"Ooh!" King said as he got up off my lap. "Fight, fight, fight!" He cheered.
"Can it, King!" Eda said while pointing at King. "First off, it's the "Bad Girl Coven" and second off, I guess you don't want in on the T-shirt order, huh?" Eda said as she pulls out a piece of paper with a t-shirt drawn on it.
"I don't care about T-shirts, Eda! I want to learn magic!" Luz said as she gestures to Gus. "And they teach that at Hexside!" Luz said as I stood up.
"I mean, yeah, well—" Eda, at a loss for words, grunts and then leaves. "I don't wanna hear another word about Hexside, unless it's "Hexside is on fire" and "let's grab front row seats"!" Eda said as she slams the door.
"Aw, look what you did. I'm gonna go rub it in. Nyeh!" King laughed as he ran after Eda.
"I should get going, I have somewhere to be." I said as I started walking away, but stopped once I realized I didn't know where principal Bump would be and school was closed at the moment as Gus was here. I decided to go to my room and sleep until tomorrow.
The next day
"You are not fully there today." I said as I watched Eda MOPPING outside.
"I'm trying to protect her. Hexside chews up anything unique and spits out bland mush." Eda said as she picked up a flower and rips it apart out of anger.
"I chew insects. I turn them into mush." Hooty chimed in, with me looking at him as I stood next to the door, arms crossed.
"Not the same thing, but A for effort." I said as I looked back at Eda.
"But that's my beef. Does she need to draw her own conclusions?" Eda asked as she looked at me.
"Yes." I said, with her looking at me in interest now. "Everyone must, including me." I said as I looked off into the distance. "Let me put it in a way you can understand. I wasn't taught how to use my powers, I self learned. Hooty here was taught by you. Look how we turned out." I said as I pointed my thumb at Hooty, who was eating bugs.
"I gotta get that girl into school." She said in horror, making me grin.
Later, Hexside
Sitting in the office, I sat normally while Eda took a pencil out of the mug on the desk, with Bump sitting across from us. "Been quite a while since I've sat here, huh?" Eda said sarcastically as she puts the pencil on her top lip and reclines in the chair, crossing her feet next to Principal Bump's name plate. "Extra weird without you yelling at me for picking fights or stealing." She said with a grin.
Principal Bump looked at me, with me nodding with a grin of my own. "Is it time?" He asked, with me nodding while Eda looked confused.
"Come again?" She asked, looking between us.
"We had an interesting talk the last time he was here." Principal Bump said as he looked back at her. "About enrolling the Human into Hexside." He said, where Eda turned her head to face me very slowly.
Eda sits up; inhales as she fixes her hair. "You knew this was going to happen." She said, a bit angry but understood where I was coming from.
"It's not a bad idea." He said, with me nodding in agreement.
"Wait, really?" Eda said as she looked over at Bump in shock.
Bump gets up and walks over to a file cabinet. "I think the student body could learn a lot from having such an exchange student." He said, making Eda grin. "But before I even consider that, there's a lot to be answered for." He said as Eda reclines on the desk again. Principal Bump magically turns her upside down without looking. He pulls a stack of files out of the cabinet.
"Oh... right. Yeah." Eda said as she rights herself. "I heard all about that abomination incident." Eda said with a hidden smile.
"Oh, he's not talking about Luz." I said, with Eda looking at me in confusion.
"I'm talking about the necrotic experiments, the graffiti, the scams, the cheating, Miss Jenkinmeyer's teeth." Bump said, with Eda sinking into her chair. "The trouble you caused when you were here, Eda." He said as he drops the pile of paper and books onto the desk. Eda looks at the page on top, which reads, "PERMANENT RECORD --~-- EDALYN CLAWTHORNE".
"Huh. I thought there'd be more." Era said in both disappointment and shock, making me laugh at her.
"And I can't believe that Eda is short for Edalyn!" I said while almost falling on the ground. She punched me in the side, knocking me out of my chair.
Later
"I don't wanna do this!" Eda complained with a grunt.
"There's the whiny rebel teen I remember. You'll need this to clean up all the hexed graffiti you left us. Good luck." Bump said as he passed the mop over to Eda, and the water to me.
"Why am I helping her again?" I asked, not sure why I was here.
"You wanted Luz to join, this is your punishment from me!" Eda said as she dips the mop into the water and goes after the graffiti on lockers that reads "EDA RULES BUMP EATS STINK." The graffiti avoids the mop. She tries again, it moves again. She tries slower, it moves slower. She tries to wipe the entire row of lockers, only succeeding in making all the graffiti combine and now read, "MOTHER NOOOO!!!" She slams at that, and it moves again. I laughed as I walked over to it.
"I'll make you a deal!" I said, with it forming a question mark. "We don't mop you, but you move over to... say my coat? From there, we move you over to somewhere else... like any other building that you like... besides Hexside." I said, with it forming ... for a second and then making a thumbs up. "Great!" I said as I placed my back against the locker and let it climb on.
"That's one way of doing it." Eda said in announce.
Later
We walked through the cafeteria, ghosts falling onto the floor behind us. We dumped a writing bag at Principal Bump's feet. "There. The girls' changing room is ghost-free."
"As well as the men's and women's bathrooms." I said in annoyance. "I'm never doing this again." I said as I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Are you ready to give up?" Bump said as he takes a ghost out of Eda's hair. "You've barely scratched the surface." He said, making me groan and glare at Eda as it was her fault that we were in this mess.
She turns and sees a kid helping another kid with a spell. "They're just as bad as Luz. She'd love it here." She said as we turned back to Principal Bump. "All right. What's next, Bumpikins?" She said, making me fade palm as he grins and holds up two plungers.
Later
"I got off all the graffiti. Apologized to Jenkinmeyer for stealing her teeth. Caught all the wild cerebi. Ah, we should be good." Eda said as I was covered in water, my coat somehow flying next to me, completely dry, as the graffiti turned into wings.
"I am never plunging another toilet with teeth ever again." I said as I glared at them.
Bump shakes Eda's hand. "It will be very exciting to have a real human exchange student." He said, with Eda smiling.
"And you won't tell the Emperor's Coven about this, will you?" She asked in secret.
"No. Hexside School is safe for you three. I'm the principal, not a stooge. Consider your pupil our pupil." He said, making me smile.
Banging interrupts us. We turned to face Willow, who backs away from the door as it's hit again from the inside. A third hit shatters the door, and Gus and Luz burst through, panting.
"Eda, Dakota?" Luz said in shock, with Bump looking at me.
"I thought your name was Anorev?" He asked, with me shrugging.
"Still getting used to doing random stuff." I admitted as I didn't know why I gave him that name.
"Guess who got you into Hexside!" Eda said as she placed her hands on my shoulders, shaking me back and forth.
"What?" Luz said in shock.
Seeing a snake like monster coming up from behind Luz, I pulled the gun out of my stomach and aimed at it. Luz flinched as I pulled the trigger, with the bullet flying past them and putting a hole in the wall behind them. Everyone looked at it and then back at me. "That's a warning shot." I said as I put more blood into it. "Want to see what happens when it hits?" I questioned, with it slithering away.
"Uh, sorry, Sir." It called out, with me looking on in shock as it answered me.
"What did you do?" Bump questioned as he approached Luz.
"Ugh, kid." Eda said as she face palmed.
"To think that any student of yours would be capable of doing anything but create chaos... Eda, whoever you are, take your student and leave! You are all banned from this campus!" He said, shocking me.
"Come on, kid. Let's go." Eda said with a grunt.
"Wait, Principal Bump. Don't blame Luz. I told her the ban was lifted." Gus said, with us looking at him. "We were fighting over the Human Appreciation Society. I brought Luz in because I wanted to win. This is all my fault." He said as he lowered his head.
"If that's so, Augustus, would you be willing to accept her punishment as your own?" He questioned, with me knowing it was a test.
"Yes, Principal Bump. I would." He said as he looked up at him.
"Huh. Dang, dweebus." Eda said as she placed her hands on her hips with a proud smile.
"Very well. Bump said as he looked at Luz. In light of that, barring any more trouble, you shall officially be enrolled in Hexside School next semester." He said, where Luz gasps and smiles.
"Uh, hold on. Hold on!" Eda said as she walks over to Luz and puts her hands on Luz's shoulders, then glares at Bump and gestures for him to step back. He takes exactly two steps back, but I grabbed his arm and walked over to the room that they broke.
"So, what is this room?" I asked, looking down the pit.
"Detention." He said, where I crossed my arms. "This instills the will of being a good student onto whoever is inside." Bump informed, with me looking at him.
"Just that?" I asked, confusing him. "Can it be anything or just that?" I asked, curious.
"Anything, why?" He asked, looking at me with a raised eyebrow.
"So I can have it get rid of my anger?" I asked, with him shrugging his shoulders.
"Theoretically, yes. But I would have to know what your anger is pointed at." He said, with me looking at him.
"Lilith and Belos. I want my anger for Lilith to go away, for Eda's sake." I said, looking back into the pit. "If I touch them, the snakes that is... Will it be affected by my mutation?" I wondered out loud.
"Mutation?" He asked, curious.
"Yeah, anything I touch with physical contact will die. I use wooden hands to do my touching." I said as I showed him my hands.
"Then it's a lost cause for you. They are living after all." He said, with me nodding and walking away with Eda and Luz.
Later that night
The door of the human realm opened, with us looking at the flying coat. "Ok, so we are giving you a whole new world to place your art. Make what you want, just know that no one will ever be able to take you down." I said as Eda and I stood at the door, opening it.
The coat now read "GOODBYE MOTHER!" Before flying through the door and vanishing for good. "What are the odds that it will run into Wanda? Or Luz's mother?" Edna asked with a chuckle.
"One in eight billion." I said, getting a whistle from Eda as we closed the door. "I'm going to bed, we've both have had a long day." I said with a groan as I walked away.
"Good call."
Same time, Wanda's POV
Hearing the front door open, my eyes shot open. Throwing the blanket off, I ran towards the front door and saw it was closed. Looking out the window, I clearly saw it was open with a light shining out. I opened the window and jumped out, with me running at the door.
As soon as I got in front of it, a coat was thrown in my face, knocking me down. Tossing it aside, I looked at the door and saw that it was now closed. "Dang it!? I was so close!?" I yelled as I stood up, looking at the coat on the ground that had "OUCH" written on the back. "Who just throws clothes through portals like that?" I questioned as I reached for it, but stopped once it grew wings and floated, shocking me. "ITS ALIVE!?" I screamed out in shock as I backed away from it.
It turned its back on me and the back changed. "NOT ALIVE, HEXED!?" It corrected, with me nodding as I was now talking to a coat.
"Ok... so why are you here?" I asked, not sure what to make of this.
"TO EXPLORE THE WORLD AND FIND A WALL FITTING OF MYSELF" It now read, with me crossing my arms.
"Check in with an artist museum, find a white canvas and you can do whatever you want from there. You could even go across the world and no one could do anything. If someone tries to damage you or the canvas, then they would be imprisoned for attempting murder as well as damaging property." I informed as I crossed my arms. "Before that, do you know anyone named Dakota on the other side? He is a friend of mine and I can't seem to reach him." I said as I looked at the door.
"YEP, THIS IS HIS COAT!?" It read, with me smiling at that.
"So he is ok." I said as I placed a hand over my heart. "If you want, you can stay here while I ask a friend for the perfect canvas to plaster your art." I said, with it forming a thumbs up and then floating inside. 'I'll have to ask what he looks like another time.' I thought as I want back inside to go to sleep.
