It was a perfect day. Nothing could go wrong. Taking a deep breath, I took in the air. I was on top of the Owl House, taking in the sun. "Hey, Dakota!" Wanda said, sliding into a seat beside me. "Do you mind if I join you?" She asked as she was already doing it.

Dakota looked at her, not surprised by her sudden presence as she had been trying to spend more and more time with me. "Sure, go ahead." I said as I rolled my eyes.

"Dakota, have you ever been bullied?" Wanda asked, with me looking at her. "I don't know much about you, and I figured that I would ask." She said, with me nodding.

My expression darkened, and I hesitated for a moment. "Yeah, I did. It was more like a rivalry than a bully." I said as I remembered the redhead freak. "We first met when he brought a friend of his into the bathroom, he said "anyone in here is getting jumped." Too bad for him I wasn't going to let that slide. As soon as they came at me I started throwing down. I was the only one to walk out of that bathroom. Bruised up and cut up." I said as I moved my hair to the side and to show a hook scare on the side of my head.

"That's from the fight?" She asked as she reached out to touch it, but stopped before she could.

"Billy was obsessed with trying to prove he was better than me. He always wanted to fight. As much as I hate him, I also have respect for him." I said as I moved my hair back.

Wanda nodded, understanding my feelings. She cut my powers and reached out and placed a hand on mine, offering silent comfort and support. We were growing closer, bonding. Wanda admired me for some reason, for what I didn't understand.

We looked down at the front door as Eda and Luz walked out, with King sleeping on Luz's back. "Alright you two, I'm off to drop Luz off at Hexside, try not to break anything while I'm gone!" Eda said as she and Luz got on her staff and flew away.

Later

Coming to a stop, I turned around and watched as Wanda nervously walked up to me., She was trying to spend more time together, it was clear that she wanted to get to know me better.

"Wanda." I said in a warning tone as it was getting out of hand. "How can I help you?" I asked sarcastically as I wasn't going to help her.

"What can you tell me about your family? Would you mind sharing?" She asked, and I was caught off guard by her question. I hadn't thought of them lately, with the last time being that Grom situation. I missed my family, and taking them from this world hurt me.

Talking about them made her curious, and I honestly wanted to talk about them. "Sure." I said as I leaned against the wall. "My family has played a significant role in shaping who I am today." I said as I looked up, with Wanda standing in front of me. "My mother was always a source of love and support. She was incredibly caring and had a heart of gold. Her warmth had been a guiding light in our lives." I said as I thought of my mother.

"My mother was the same. When Pietro and I fought, she would break it up with this game she called "Loves and kisses." She chased us around the house and when she caught us she would smother us with kisses." Wanda said as she thought of her mother with a smile.

"Yeah, mine wasn't like that. She just held the family together. If I got into a fight, she scolded me. Dad on the other hand encouraged it, saying "Be a man!" Or "Only pussys back down from a fight!" God he was such a drunk now that I think about it. He always had a beer in his hand!" I said as I thought about it.

"Tell me about your father, you already know mine... I just pray that you don't meet him." Wanda said with a distressed expression on her face.

"My father was strict. He believed in discipline and hard work. It was challenging at times, and I appreciate the values he instilled in me. His dedication to our family's well-being was unwavering." I said as I crossed my arms, with her looking away as I talked about him. Must be because of how her father was.

"What about your sister?" Wanda asked curiously.

I frowned as she brought up my sister Laura. "My sister... She's too young for me to say much about her. She was only a year old when our family passed away." I said as I looked away from her.

"I'm so sorry, Dakota, I didn't want to upset you. I just wanted to get to know you better." Wanda said softly. "Losing your family was incredibly hard on you." She said as she looked away.

"I'm back!" We heard Eda, with me going to greet her. I didn't want to talk about my family anymore.

Later

Eda was now in her old grudgby jacket, showing a photo album to us. "And here's when we took down Epiderm High in the semi-finals!" Eda said as she points to a photo of her younger self holding a trophy. She had fluffy orange hair. "Oh, I was the youngest on the team, but I had what some call "star power". AKA, this!" Eda said as she pulls a box out from her hair labeled "Eda's Rad Cheats". "This is my cheat box. I have all my best weapons in here. Smoke bombs, sock-worms... Mwah. You name it. Oh, I never lost a game with this bad boy." Eda said as she smiled at it.

The door was slammed open, where Hooty entered. "Hoot-hoot! Guess who found a special friend in the forest." He said, with my eyes widening as he brings in Lilith, wrapped up in his elongated body. "It was me! Hoot!" He said as he released her, where I got up and pulled out the gun, aiming it at Lilith who looked at me in shock.

"Lilith!" Eda said as she stepped in front of me.

"Edalyn." Lilith said as she dusted herself off as Wanda lowered my arm.

"So this is Lilith?" Wanda asked as she got in front of Eda. Hooty's body retracts back into the front door, which then promptly slams shut. "I have my own grudge against you!" She said as she grew a red aura around her, her voice one of anger.

"If anyone makes her bleed, it will be me!" I said as I pulled a sword out of my chest and aimed it at Lilith.

"One, your anger should be with Belos, not me." Lilith said as she held a finger up. "Two, I don't know you so you can leave!" Eda said as she held up her second finger before making a shoo motion with it.

"No she didn't!" Wanda yelled as she stormed over to Lilith, with Eda pushing her back.

"Lily, you just walked into a Slitherbeast nest, and poked the Queen who can control reality!" Eda said, with me pulling Wanda back by her coat. "Thank you!" Eda said as I started making my approach, with her pushing against me. "My Titan, just stop!?" Eda yelled, with me pushing her as I walked forward.

Getting in Lilith's face, she leaned away from me. "State your business, before I skin you alive!" I threatened as I placed the swords tip against her stomach.

Lilith summons a scroll, which rolls for some time before coming to a stop. She clears throat and then begins to speak. "Edalyn Clawthorne, Dakota the Monster, you two are hereby under arrest by the order of the Emperor of the Boiling Isles—"

Eda used her magic to roll up the scroll, which smacks Lilith in the face before vanishing, getting a small scream from her. "You were saying?" Eda said with a smirk.

"Come on! I have to bring you in. It's time for you to join the coven. The Emperor has big plans for the Isles, and he wants you to be a part of it all, and he is a key figure in it!" Lilith said while pointing at me, with me getting ready to strike her down, with Wanda stopping me.

"Care to explain yourself?" Wanda asked, with her nodding.

"Belos came across a prophecy years ago, and it states that he will either help the Day of Unity or destroy it all. Belos is trying to get him to help with the Day of Unity, but he is only making things more complicated." Lilith said as she placed her hands in front of her. "I'm sorry, I don't think we're acquainted?" Lilith asked as she held a hand out to Wanda.

"Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch!" Wanda introduced, with Lilith smiling at this.

"Ah! Another key figure! Who would have guessed it!" She said in excitement. "You are to help him with the Day of Unity, to bring a new light to our world!" Lilith said, with me raising an eyebrow at her, with Eda and Wanda doing the same.

"So we both play a part in this?" I asked, with her nodding. "Bring a new light into our world?" I questioned as I looked at Wanda, where she did the same.

"Day of Unity?" She questioned, where we both blushed and turned back to Lilith.

"We're not baby making in front of everyone!?" We yelled, making Eda and Lilith blush.

"NO!? You got it all wrong!?" Lilith said as she waved her hands at us. "The Day of Unity involves the unification of the Human and Demon Realms, creating a utopia free of wild magic where only the worthy should receive this utopia. At that time, everyone will journey to the head of the Boiling Isles, and those who are worthy should inherit the aforementioned "utopia." You and this monster are to perform a spell to make it possible." Lilith said as she looked at Wanda. "You will be the center of it all, a beacon to start it off!" She said with joy.

"There is no way we are doing anything for you or your King." I said as I crossed my arms. "Leave!" I warned, with Lilith standing firm.

"Make me!" She challenged, with me getting ready to kill her.

"What an incredible opportunity for me." Eda said, with us looking at her as she held her photo album.

What are you even looking at?" Lilith asked as she walks over and grabs the photo album from Eda. "Grudgby pictures? Feeling sentimental?" Lilith taunted.

"Pah! Me? Never. I was just telling everyone here how good I was." Eda said as she summons a grudgby ball.

"Oh, Edalyn. Not only is the curse affecting your hair, but your memory as well."

Lilith holds up the picture of young Eda, unfolding it to reveal a young Lilith with an even larger grudgby trophy, and several medals.

Eda let out a groan when she saw it. "Ah, tell you what. We will go with you peacefully to the Emperor..."

"Really?" Lilith said with joy while Wanda and I made X's with our arms.

"Sure. If you beat me at a game of grudgby. Then get to pick their game or whatever they want, no blood spilling Dakota!" Eda said as I held up my sword. I lowered it and crossed my arms. "Luz is always challenging people to things. Why not us?" She said with a smirk.

"Hmm... Game on." Lilith said as I walked away to think of a match that I was good at.

A match!

Later

"Chess?"" Wanda asked as I stepped out of my room with a chess set that I had found lying around. "Why do you have a chess set?" She asked as she crossed her arms.

"I can't cause her harm and she seems like an intelligent person, so I want to challenge her to a Chess match." I answered as I walked into the living room, when I started setting up the pieces on the table. "Right now she is in her own match with Eda, and will be exhausted." I said as we could hear them outside.

"Do you know how to play?" Wanda asked as she crossed stood over me as I sat down.

"I was vice president of a chess club in freshman year, I got this." I said as I leaned back into the chair. "Want to go a round while we wait?" I asked, making her sigh and sit down. She chose Black while I chose white.

I started off by moving a pawn to D4, with her moving a night to F6. "I don't think I have really played chess before." Wanda said as she looked down at the board.

I moved a pawn to C4 and she moved her to E6. "It's been forever. I used to play with my grand father all the time." I said with a smile as I moved my knight to F3 and she moved her pawn to D5.

"You didn't mention him earlier." She said, with me nodding as I moved my knight to C3 and she moved her pawn to C6. "What was he like?" She asked as I moved my bishop to G5, scaring her as she moved her pawn to H6.

"He was a military man, worked in communications." He loved it. "My mother and him were close, and I loved being with him. He taught me how to play." I said as I moved my bishop back to H4, with her moving pawn to C4, taking my pawn.

I moved my pawn to E4 and she moved hers to G5. "How good was he?" She asked as she looked up at me.

"As far as I know, he only lost once." I said with a smirk as I moved my bishop to G3 and she moved her pawn to B5. I moved my pawn to H4 and she moved hers to G4. "Of course, it was luck that cost him that game." I said as I moved my knight to E5 while she moved her rook to G8.

"Ok, so who was it?" She asked as I moved my bishop to E2, making her move hers to B7. "Had to be someone smart enough to get past him." She said as I used my knight to take her pawn on G4, with her second knight to move to D7.

"I thought I made it obvious." I said as I used my knight to take her pawn on F6, with her using her queen to take back F6 as it had put her in check. I ended up castling, with her holding a hand up.

"What are you doing?" She asked, with me looking at her.

"Castling. When there are no pieces between a rook and king you can move them in together. The king goes on the other side and the rook is placed next to the king." I informed, with her nodding. She had the opportunity to do it as well, but ended up moving her pawn to E5. "You know you could have done it as well, right?" I asked, with her making an oh face.

"I thought it had to be a specific amount of spaces between." She explained as I moved my bishop to G4, and she moved her rook to D8. "I'm not going to castle." She said, with me nodding.

"That's too bad." I said as I moved my to H3, where she moved her queen back to E7. I spun the board around. "You just annoyed me." I said as she looked on in shock. I started playing for us both. I moved the Queen back and moved her bishop to C8. I then moved my queen to E2 and her bishop to E7. Moving my rook to D1, I moved her pawn to take D4. I moved my pawn to E5 and made her pawn go to D3. Using my pawn, I took her queen on F6, with me using her pawn to take mine on E2.

"Your rooks!?" Wanda said as I hade made her put me in a tough spot. Which rook would be taken? I ignored them to take E7, with me using her pawn to take F1, then turning it into a queen. I ended up using my king to take her queen, making her gasp. "You fiend!?" She yelled while pointing at me. I then made her King take E7, with me using my bishop to put her in checkmate in D6.

"There, you win." I said, with her looking up at me.

"You're an ass!" She yelled, getting up and pointing at me. "You can't do that!? You can't just switch us around like that!?" She yelled, with me shrugging at her. She stormed off, throwing the board in my face with her magic.

"Called it." I said with a smirk as I picked the game up.

Later

"So, this is called Chess?" A strategic board game to test others against each other. Lilith said as she finished reading all of the rules and instructions on the back of the box.

"Yep. That simple." I said, with her turning the board around, with her being white.

"As the challenger, I shall go first!"She said as she moved her pawn to E4, with me moving my pawn to A6, beginning my George Defense. She proceeded to move her pawn to D4, with me moving mine to D5. She moved her pawn to E5, and I moved my bishop to F5. She moved her pawn to C3 and I moved mine to E6. She moved her bishop to D3, with me using my bishop to take hers on D3.

"Here is your first freebie." I said, with her using her queen to take my bishop on D3, with me moving my pawn to C5.

"I don't need your freebies!" Lilith said as she moved her night to E2, where I moved my to C6. She proceeded to castle, where I moved my pawn to C4. She moved her queen to E3, and I moved my pawn to B5. She moved her night to D2, with me moving mine to E7. She moved her pawn to B4, and I moved my knight to F5.

"What do you think about this game so far?" I asked, with her looking up at me.

"Interesting." She said as she moved her queen to H3 and I moved my pawn to H5. "You keep trying to trap me, or lure me in." She said, with me nodding. She moved her rook to B1, and I moved my bishop to E7. She moved her rook to E1, and I moved my pawn to H4. She moved her night to F3 and I moved a pawn to G5.

"Don't have a lot of moves left." I said, with her butting her thumb as she moved her king to H1, and I moved my rook to G8. She moved her pawn to G4 and I used my pawn to take G3. She used her pawn to take G3 and I moved my king to D7.

"Now who is running out of moves!" She said as she held her head up high as she moved her pawn to G4, with me moving my rook to H8. She moved her queen to F1, and I moved my knight to H4. She moved her queen to F2 and I moved mine to G8. She moved her knight to D2, with me moving my queen to G6.

"I would say you have about... 33 moves left." I said, with her losing her smile as she looked at the board.

"What makes you say that? She asked as she looked up at me.

"Just a skill my grandfather taught me. Always play in your head and you will be able to predict how your opponent will play." I said as Eda leaned next to me.

"What? That's bull! You can't use magic like that!" Eda said as she crossed her arms.

"It's not magic, it's typical for chess players to have that skill... but to see so far." Wanda said as she crossed her arms in turn.

"Stop toying with me!" Lilith said as she moved her pawn to H3 and I moved my Rook to H7. She moved her rook to F1 and I moved my rook to H8. She moved her pawn to A3, with me moving my queen to G8. She moved her knight to G6 and I moved mine to G6.

She moved her night to F3 and I moved mine to F4. She then used her Bishop to take F4, with me taking her bishop on F4. "Don't make sacrifices like that." I warned as it annoyed me as she moved her knight to H2, with me moving my bishop to G5.

"They are my subjects, I will lead them as I please." Lilith shot back as she moved her queen to C2 and I moved my knight to E7. She moved her king to G2, and I moved my knight to G6. She moved her Knight to F3 and k moved mine to H4.

"Check." I said, with her looking at my knight. She moved her king to H2, where I moved my knight to F3. "Check." I said as she crossed her arms in thought. She moved her rook to take my knight on F3, where I moved my queen to A8.

"That will keep you away for now." She said with a smirk as she moved her knight to E2, and I moved my pawn to A5. She moved her king to G2, with me moving my pawn to A4. She moved her Queen to D1, and I moved mine to D8. She moved her rook to B2, where I moved a pawn to F6.

"It's almost over." I warned as she moved her rook to A2, with me moving my queen to F8. She moved hers to C1 and I moved a pawn to F5. She moved her queen to G1 and I used my pawn to take G4. She used her knight to take G4, with me moving my queen to F7.

"I have to admit, you are a skilled player." She said as she moved her king to F1, and I moved my queen to G6. "You said your grandfather taught you?" She asked as moved her room to B2, and I moved my queen to E4.

"Yes, he taught me everything about it." I said as she moved her queen to G2, and I moved my rook to H2. She moved her king to G1c with me moving my rook to G2. "Check." I said, with her groaning as she took my rook by moving her king to G2, and I moved my other rook to H2. "Check." I said, she moved her king to take H2, and I used my queen to take F3.

"You told me not to sacrifice my pieces and you do the same! You are a little hypocritical!" She said, with me shaking my head as she didn't get it. She moved her room to C2, where I moved my queen to F2.

"Check." I said, with her blinking in shock. She moved her king to H1, with me moving my pawn to F3. She moved her knight to G1, with me using my queen to take C2. She used her night to take F3, with me moving my bishop to F4.

"It's over." Wanda said, with us looking at her. "He had you from 30 moves ago, no... before that." Wanda said as she looked at me. "From the beginning!" She said as I I looked back at Lilith, who was struggling.

"It's not over until I lose!" She said as she moved her night to D2, with me using my queen to take D2. She moved her other knight to G1, where I moved my bishop to G3. Her eyes widened, before moving her king to H1, with me moving my queen to F2. She moved her pawn to G5 as she had to move, with me moving my queen to F1.

"Checkmate." I said, watching as she tipped her king over slowly.

"I am indeed bested here." She said as she stood up, and looked at Wanda. "I have lost at a battle of physical powers and mental stamina. What will our challenge be?"

"A simple one." Wanda said as she used her magic to cut off my powers, kissing me on the cheek, making me blush. "Touching him." She said, with Lilith shaking her head.

"Then I am bested." She said as she placed her hands behind her back. "I will retreat for now, as I cannot touch the monster without risking my life." She said as she walked towards the door and left.

Later

"Checkmate." I said, watching as Eda pulled her hair in frustration.

"36 and 0!" Wanda said as she held a hand out to me.

"You have GOT to be cheating! There is no way you beat me in two moves!?" Eda yelled as she pointed at me.

"Fools Mare, classic." I said with a grin as I looked away from her.

"I'm back!" Luz yelled as she ran in, followed by Eda flipping the table and storming off. Wanda moved the board back, setting it up to how it was. "Oh, chess!" Luz said as she moved the white queen to B3. "Checkmate!" She said as she walked off, with Wanda and I looking at the board, with me shooting up as that was the most casual checkmate I had ever seen and it was done on me from Eda's game!?
