Opening my eyes, I saw that I was in the middle of a stone field with broken pillars. Looking up, I saw stars, black smoke and flashes, with me seeing movement from the inside. "So, my champion died." I heard, with me looking forward, seeing a skeleton on a throne. They were covered in black, and leaning on one of their hands. "I never expected you to travel the way you did. To another planet of all things." The voice spoke, with me looking around.
"Who said I was your champion!" I yelled as I walked over to the throne. "I am no one's champion!" I said as I stood in front of the throne.
I watched as the skeleton stood up, getting in my face. "Watch your tone with me, child!" It said, with a black aura radiating off of her. "If I didn't need your powers to break this loop then I would end you where you stand!?" She yells as the aura got larger, covering everything in its wake.
I grabbed it by the face, getting a gasp from her as her aura slowly started to fade. "My power?" I questioned as the skull started cracking. "You have no idea the power I have!" I said as the black cloak burned away into black flames, the cracks spreading across the rest of the bones. "My power is the touch of death! I am the end to all things!" I said as it grabbed my arm. "I am the one who can silence breath, snuff out the light of life, with but a touch." I said as I brought it closer to my face.
"I am Death, the last dance partner for every soul!" She said, trying to push against me.
"You may be the dance partner, but I am the final note of the song. The silence that follows the applause. The emptiness that follows the fulfillment." I said as I reached out with my other hand, grabbing its neck. "I am The End." I said in a low whisper before removing her skull from her body, with the rest of her turning to dust.
There was a blinding flash of light, and then...nothing. Nothing but the dust of Death herself, drifting silently to the ground. I stood alone in my new dwelling, the weight of my actions sinking in. I had claimed Death herself. Now there was no one to guide the souls to their final rest.
I sat down, contemplating my next actions. I would have to take on Death's role, guide the souls to the afterlife, but always from a distance, never to touch. I was The End. I was the last note, the final silence, the ultimate emptiness. He was now, truly, the end of all things.
No, not yet. This isn't the end. Standing up, I held my hand out, with a man forming before me. He gasped for air as he looked up at me. "Dakota?" He said, before shaking his head. "No, End of all things." He said as he knelt down.
"Decay, I leave Death's mission to you." I said as I could feel my body in the distance. I have to return, Eda and the others need me." I said as I started walking away, walking into the darkness that surrounded the area.
I can't believe that I was on another planet this entire time.
Later, Wanda's POV
"The Boiling Isles, born from the flesh and bones of a fallen Titan. This original magic was so potent, all life on the Isles evolved to wield magic too. For years, we explored those power freely. Until, a mysterious witch appeared who declared that he, and he alone, could speak to the island. He said that we were using magic all wrong. His teachings took hold, his strength grew, and he became... Emperor Belos. Belos said that mixing magic was wrong, that only he had that right. So he created the coven system. And there, our knowledge was restricted, and our potential sealed away. Those who resist are called wild witches, and they face harsh punishment. Emperor Belos has since retreated into his castle. There are whispers that say he's planning something big." King informed as I was now ready for battle against the entire demon realm if needed. "I wonder if catching Eda was part of his big plan. What do you think? Luz?" King said, with me looking back at Luz, who was now wearing the witches cloak that Eda made.
"I don't care what Belos is up to... because today, I'm saving Eda!" She said as she placed her hands on her lips like some kind of hero.
"Luz, what are you doing?" I questioned as I crossed my arms. "You are not going, I am! Alone!" I said as I placed a hand on my chest. "Belos doomed us all, and for that I plan on ending him before the End comes." I said as I could tell something was off with the magic in the air, and it wasn't good.
"This is serious. Eda used her power to save me and got caught by Lilith. Now Dakota is dead and Eda's the Owl Beast and is being taken before the Emperor! I don't know what he's planning to do with Eda, but I'm going to rescue her!" She said, with me narrowing my eyes at her.
"Haven't you been listening to me? He's the Emperor! He's the most powerful witch alive!" King said, with me looking at him.
"King, please try to understand. Eda is in this situation because of me. Because of my stupid choice. I have to make up for it." Luz said as she looked at him.
"She's in her Owl Beast form! How will she even recognize you?" I pointed out, with Luz shaking her head.
"I don't know. But I have to try anyway." She said, with me shaking my head as I planned to dive into Eda's head and force her back.
"Well then, I'm going too!" King said, with us looking at him.
"King..."
"No!" I said, interrupting Luz.
"Me and Eda don't always see eye-to-eye, but I do consider her family. I want her back as much as you do!" He said while pointing at me.
"Alright." I said, with them looking at me. You two will do exactly what I say!" I said as I looked at them both as they stood in front of me. "If I say run, you run and never look back! If I say fight, you fight like your life depends on it! If I say return home, you do not argue with me!" I said as they both nodded. Good, then we've got no time to lose!" I said as I led us out of the room.
Later, Lilith's POV
Eda, as the owl beast, was running wiled around the Emperors room, away from me. "Eda, stop that this instant!" I ordered as I followed behind Eda, where she tears down a tapestry of Belos and then begins chewing on it. I summoned a Bubble around, where she let out a howl. "Don't look at me like that. This is for your own good. Emperor Belos will heal you, and we'll be in his coven together. Isn't that wonderful?" I asked as I wanted my sister back, to be apart of the good that Emperor Belos had promised us all. Eda blowed a raspberry at me, with me glaring at her. "I will not fall prey to your childish games!" I said as I crossed my arms and looked away. I promptly stuck my tongue out at Eda before the door to the throne room opened.
I stopped and watched as Six Guards and Kikimora entered. "All kneel before Emperor Belos!" Kikimora bows and moves away from the door. I followed her and kneeled. A pair of glowing blue eyes approach from the darkness, eventually revealing Emperor Belos, who was walking with the body of the monster in hand. Eda shrieks and bursts out of the bubble, running towards Belos.
"Eda, no!" I called out as I reached out to her. Belos vanishes before Eda could attack him, appearing behind her and throwing her against a wall by lifting his finger. Eda falls to the ground, glowing red ropes appearing to keep her down.
I ran between Eda and Belos's shadow. "My Lord, I apologize for my sister's rash behavior. She is still in her cursed form. Once you've healed her, as promised, I am sure she will become a useful asset to the coven!" I said, glad that the curse I placed on Eda was going to end. It still haunts me to this day.
Emperor Belos summons his mechanical staff and raises it, healing Eda only to the point of allowing her speech in her Beast form.
"Ah. Where am I? What is this? Aw farts, I got caught." Eda said as she looked around, then at the body of the monster. "Dakota?" She called out, trying to move towards it, but couldn't.
"Edalyn Clawthorne, the infamous Owl Lady, the wild witch of Bonesborough. Mentor of Luz the Human. Friend of the Monster Dakota. Ally to the Scarlet Witch Wanda Maximoff. He said, with me raising an eyebrow as I had never heard of that last name, Maximoff.
"You stay away from me, or so help me, Titan-"
Emperor Belos chuckled, silencing her. "You've got it all wrong. They are safe, for now. Well... besides the monster, he is no longer amongst the living." He said as he tossed the body at Eda, who used her claws to pull him closer, appearing to be hugging him. "I just want the portal she came through."
"Tough, 'cause I ain't telling you nothing!" Eda said as she glared at Belos.
"Ugh, pity. Although I suppose I could ask the human herself." He said as he snaps his fingers, and the guards run in to drag Eda away, who wouldn't let the body go.
"Wait! Don't touch them! Lilith, don't let him hurt them! Lilith!" Eda begged me, and it was hard to watch. She really cared for the humans.
"Ah, taking her to the healing ceremony?" I said, curious on when he was going to heal my sister.
"I will not be healing her." Belos said, shocking me.
"But, you, promised me." I said, hurt as he had lied to me.
"Don't be so naïve, Lilith. This is the Titan's will. All wild witches must be dealt with with before the Day of Unity. You understand, don't you?" He said as he turned away from me.
"Of course." I answered, as he had lost my trust and my loyalty right then and there.
"Good." Belos said as he begins walking away. "Oh, one more thing." He said as he came to a stop,where he snaps his fingers, and Owlbert and the bottom half of Eda's staff appears in my hands.
"Destroy the Owl Lady's staff. She won't be needing it anymore." He said, with me watching as he left the throne room.
Later, Wanda's POV
"Perry Porter coming to you live from outside the Emperor's Castle." We heard as we walked past a crystal ball. "Edalyn Clawthorne, known commonly as "Eda the Owl Lady", has been captured and has been brought before the Emperor." He said as a crowd formed around us.
"For the crime of attacking a coven leader and refusing to join a coven, Edalyn Clawthorne's body shall be petrified in stone! Today, sundown, at the Conformatorium." A short red demon girl said as it cut to her.
"Today is a grave day for Bonesborough." Perry said with a solemn expression. Various demons and witches watching the crystal balls in the street murmur in discussion and walk off, leaving us.
"Please tell me that's not as bad as it sounds." Luz asked as she looked at King.
"Petrification is only done to the worst criminals, and once the spell is complete, it can't be reversed. This is the first one in years." He said, where he got a knowing expression on his face. "I think Belos was feeding them to Dakota, the time frame matches." He said, with me shaking my head.
The newscast shows several petrified witches in what looks like a graveyard before fading to a picture of Lilith. "Lilith." I said as I narrowed my eyes at it.
"She cursed Eda." Luz informed, with me looking at her in surprise. "She captured her own sister! She is the worst! If I ever see her again!" Luz picks up the crystal ball and smashes it to the ground.
"Luz, calm down. We need to think about saving Eda first!" King said, with us moving on.
"You're right, but how will we get to the Conformatorium in time?" Luz asked, with me looking at King as I didn't know what this Conformatorium was.
"We'll have to do something so diabolical, so criminally insane, that they'll have to send us to the Conformatorium." He said, with Luz getting an idea.
Later
I followed after Luz and King, who were arrested. They in a paddy wagon and they passed by a lot of petrified wild witches. It was not a pretty sight to see. I watched as two guards brought out a pedestal with Eda's name on it.
The paddy wagon continues on, entering the Conformatorium proper, a gate closes behind it. As soon as it did, I dove down. Using my magic, I created chains that wrapped around the gate and tore it off. I watched as guards came out to see what was going on. They lined up and started making spell circles.
I didn't let them finish as I lifted my left hand, picking them all up into the air. They all screamed in terror as I brought my right hand down, sending them all head first into the ground, either killing them or giving them all severe head trauma.
I watched as a larger guard came out from behind the paddy wagon and looked up at me in shock. I bonded his hands in magic cuffs, pining him to the ground. I tore the paddy wagon in half, with Luz and King walking over to us.
"Where's Eda?" Luz questioned as she got in his face.
"She's in the holding cell in the dungeon!" He said, with Luz holding out a pen and paper. "Draw me a map!" She ordered, with me freeing one of his hands.
"Try something, and I end you!" I warned as I summoned an Iron Maiden around him, getting a gulp out of him.
Later, Lilith POV
"Fools!" Kikimora said while I was looking out at the crowd. "You let the humans escape! And you drew her a map?" She questioned as I now made up my mind.
"Worry not, Kikimora." I said as I turned to face them. "I shall capture the humans." I said as I summoned my staff.
Later, Wanda POV
We hung two guards with vines from the ceiling, another by his legs, a fourth another was frozen solid trying to reach for fire, and a fifth is encased in ice. Reaching the door that held Eda on the other side, I used magic to undo the lock.
"King, watch the door." Luz said, with me looking at him.
"Weh?" He said in shock, but then nodded.
We stepped forward entered the room. Luz makes a ball of light appear as we could see Eda.
"Eda? Eda!" Luz called out as she tried to run towards her, but I held her arm back. Beast Eda turns at the noise and growls, going in for the attack. The thing I noticed was Dakota's body was here as well, a skeleton by the looks of it. As the rate of decay he has been going through, he would be ash by tomorrow.
"Eda, wait! It's me! It's me." Luz said as she tried reaching out to Eda inside the beast.
Eda closed her eyes, then reopens them to reveal them being gold again. "Luz? Wanda? Oh no. Oh no, no, no, no, no, wh-what are you doing here?" She questioned as we moved closer, with Luz hugging her, but Eda pushed her back.
"It's okay Eda, we're here to save you." Luz said as she activates a fire glyph on the chain keeping Eda in place, but the flame does nothing. I tried, but my magic was reflected back at me, knocking me back against the door. This surprised all of us.
"Your magic isn't strong enough for this. You need to leave! Now." Eda ordered as I got up and made my way over to them, with Luz still trying to burn the chains.
"But, but I can't! It's my fault you needed to save me. It's my fault you got captured. It's my fault that Dakota is dead!" She said, tears in her eyes.
"No. Listen to me. I'm here because of my own actions. I went against Belos's law, and for a while I was able to get away with it." She said before letting out a sigh. "But, well without magic, I can't do much. I don't regret anything. I lived freely and... I got to meet you three." She said as she looked as Dakota's body.
"Eda..." Lus said, lowering her head.
"But if you stay here, I won't be able to protect you. You need to leave. Now!" Eda said as I walked past her and over to Dakota's body, and I could tell that the disturbance in magic was coming for this. Now closer, I could see black smoke coming off of it, thin, and hard to see.
"But we're a family! Us weirdos have to stick together, remember?" Luz said as she didn't want to say goodbye. I knelt down and placed his skull in my lap, the rest of his body moving with him as I did, which was odd as it wasn't connected to the rest of him anymore.
"Goodbye." I whispered as I held back my tears, knowing that this was going to be my one and only chance to say this. There was no guarantee that his corpse would travel through the door, so I could not take him.
Eda sticks a claw into her hair, pulling out the key for the portal door. She activates it, making the door rise from the floor. It opens as she speaks, revealing my home.
"You have a family already, both of you." Eda said as I placed Dakota down gently and walked over to Luz. "Go back to them. And when you're home, use your fire magic to destroy the portal door." Eda said as she places the key around Luz's neck. "I don't know why Belos wants it, but we can't take any chances." She said, with me knowing that there was more to Belos than meets the eye.
Luz looks at Eda with tears in her eyes before tucking the key under her cloak and hugging her one last time. "I love you, Eda." She said, with me joining the hug as she was indeed a great person, and didn't deserve this fate.
"I love you too, kiddo's." Eda said as a siren blares as and a door in the ceiling opens. "Luz, Wanda, get away!" Eda ordered as she pushes us away as the chain around her neck glows blue and transforms into a cage. The ground beneath Eda begins to rise.
"No!" Luz called out as she reached out for her, grabbing her claw. "Not yet!" Luz yelled as she held on for dear life.
"I'm sorry." Eda said as she pushes Luz off. "Goodbye, Luz, Wanda." She said with tears in her eyes.
"Eda!" Luz called out as I caught her, the platform completely rises into the ceiling with an air of finality. Luz cries into my shoulder as she hugged me, with me looking at the door to the human realm. Suddenly, the door burst open and Lilith walks in while holding King.
"Drat!" Lilith said as I put Luz down, glaring at her as she was the one who caused all of this!
"Let me go!" King ordered as he flailed around.
"I'm too late, at least I found you, humans." Lilith said as I pulled King out of her grasp and now held him in my arms.
"You. You hurt Eda. You put her in chains. You caused Dakota's death!" Luz said as I passed King to her.
"And now, I will return the favor!?" I yelled as the walls around us started to crack. I send a magical ball of energy at her, with her blocking it with her staff.
"I just wanna talk!" Lilith said as she held her hands up, with me appearing behind her.
"You can talk to us from the afterlife, you bitch!?" I yelled as I summoned chains around her, as well as a guillotine. I forced her to her knees, where the blade came down. She broke free just in time to escape the blade, and spins her staff around, Luz uses the distraction to jump onto Lilith's back.
"Ah, stop! What is wrong with you?" Lilith yelled as they fell through the portal door, with King and I going in after them. Once on the other side, I summoned the False avengers. I wanted this to hurt, and hurt it shall.
I pulled Luz away as False Captain America shield smashed Lilith, with Her getting knocked back. She then brought up a barrier as False Black Widow shot her guns at her, running around. That didn't last long as False Hulk jumped onto the barrier and started slamming his fists against it, shattering it in two hits, shocking her as it screamed in her face. She then looked to her side as arrows landed next to her, with them exploding. She was sent flying further back, with False Iron Man flying above her. He ended up using a unibeam on her, pushing her deeper into the ground.
Now flying over her, I held my hands up and picked up a large chunk of the forest, with me bringing it down on top of her. I was breathing heavily as I was still pissed off at her. "Let's end this!" I heard Lilith behind me, with me looking at her battered and bruised body.
"I'M GOING TO FEED YOU YOUR OWN HEART!?" I yelled, with her looking at me in fear as I charged at her. I created the Hulks arm over mine as a projection and punched her in the face, sending her flying into the distance.
I flew after her, with me grabbing her by the back of the head and tossing her down towards the ground at a free way. Once she hit the ground, she summoned a barrier around herself as cars started crashing around her. Grabbing her barrier with my magic, I tossed her into an oil tanker and caused it to explode, with her taking off once more.
Reaching her again, she stopped herself this time and summoned a bright blue bird. I made a fist and crushed it before she could do anything with it. She looked up at it in shock before looking back at me as I elbowed her in the face. She spun around and I grabbed her hair, preventing her from leaving. Hearing something behind, I turned around and saw the X-Jet flying towards us. Either they were called our already out to be heading this way.
I flew us over to it and slammed Lilith against the top of it over and over again before she pushed me off. "BACK OFF!?" She yelled as she turned to face me. "I ONLY WANTED TO TALK!?" She yelled as she summoned her staff.
"YOUR ACTIONS DOOMED US ALL!? THIS REALM, THE DEMON REALM, THEY ARE ALL DOOMED BECAUSE OF YOU!?" I yelled as Lightning struck between us, with me looking at Storm.
"Enough!?" She yelled, with me looking to the side and Seeing Jean flying as well.
"Great, more magic users." Lilith said in annoyance. "And here I thought humans couldn't use magic."
"Oh, they aren't magical beings like you and me." I said as I coated them both with my magic, with them screaming as I absorbed their powers. "THEY ARE MUTANTS LIKE ME!?" I yelled as I shot lightning and fire from my arms as I shot at Lilith, who brought up a barrier just in time, but it broke as soon as they made contact with her.
"Please, just listen to me!" Lilith begged as she got out of the way, trying to hold onto the X-Jet.
"You deserve to be petrified! Not Eda!" I yelled as I caught both Jean and Storm and made them float behind me, still draining their powers so that I could end her.
"You're right. She said, shocking me as I stopped my attack. I deserve to be in Edalyn's place." She said as she lowered her head.
"Why did you do all this?" I asked, upset but now willing to listen to her.
"When Edalyn and I were younger, we were, the best of friends." She explained as I let Jean and Storm go. "We shared everything, including our pain." She said as she looked sad. "Being in the Emperor's Coven was my dream. I wanted to work alongside the most powerful witch on the Isles and make the world a better place. Eda wanted to be with me, but there was a problem." She said as she hugged herself, with me finding that we were no longer moving. "One spot was available. We duel tomorrow. The winner will join our ranks." She said, sounding like she was repeating the words that were told to her. "I knew Edalyn would beat me. She was younger, but worked twice as hard. She met me at my level." She said as Jean and Storm now stood next to me. "Emperor Belos always said, "To be great, you have to make sacrifices." What would he do in my situation? I found a spell that would take away her powers." She said, with me knowing that it was the curse. "I thought it would just be for a day." She said as she hugged herself tighter. "Eda said, I refuse to battle my sister. I've decided that covens aren't really my style. Hey, don't forget me when you're a big shot, sis." She said with a smile, but lost it the next second. "And as Edalyn walked away." She said, letting it hang in the air on what happened. "I made my sacrifice for the emperor, and it was time to receive my reward." She said as she looked up at us. "I've been pursuing Edalyn because if she joined the Emperor's Coven, Emperor Belos told me he would heal her curse. But he lied to me. I know how to rescue Edalyn, but I can't do it alone." She said, with me walking up to her.
"How do I know we can trust you?" I questioned as I didn't want to walk into another trap like Eda and Dakota did. Lilith appears to think for a second before tracing a large spell circle. Owlbert and the rest of Eda's staff appear in her hands. She holds them both out to me, where I take them. "Owlbert! You're okay?" I asked, with Owlbert opening his eyes and coos, nuzzling into my hands. I put him on my shoulder and helped Lilith stand.
"All right, Lilith. I don't like you, but... we need your help to save Eda." I said as I teleported us back to my home, with Lilith looked around in shock.
"Wanda!?" Luz said as she ran over and hugged me.
"Lilith promised to help us save Eda." I said as I picked up Owlbert and set him on Luz's shoulder, and gave her Eda's staff. Luz holds out the door key as we walked towards the door.
"Thank you." Lilith said, with me looking at her.
"Remember what I promised you." I said, with Lilith gulping as she remembered my threat.
"Now, let's head back." She said as we walked through the door. Stopping, I looked at Luz who was still on the other side, looking at the trees.
"Hey Luz, You... need a minute?" King asked with some sympathy. This was her home, and there was a chance that she would never see it again.
"No. I'm coming." Luz said as she walks up the steps as King follows Lilith, who was behind me. Luz pauses just before entering, taking one last look at the human realm, before walking through.
Same time, Dakota's POV
Walking the halls of a strange building, I watched as kids freely used their powers. I was invisible to them. I passed right through them. Seeing a wall open, I moved inside the elevator and a man with a wheelchair entered as well. We started going down, with him looking around. "Hello?" He asked, with me getting into his face.
"Can you see me?" I asked, where he shook his head.
"I cannot, where are you?" He asked, looking behind to see me.
"I'm in front of you." I said as the doors opened, where I walked out. "It's rather interesting that you can speak to the dead." I said as I walked on, with them following me. "Are you sure you can see me?" I asked, with him shaking his head.
"The last time any one of the dead showed, a student of mine had her leg turned to bones." He said, with us stopping at a door. "You're not the same person, your voice is that of a male, while the others was female." He said as I walked through the door as it opened, with me seeing a girl sleeping at a desk in a wheelchair.
"I think this is why I am here." I said as I walked over to the desk. "She was punished for something that was out of her control, and it's not fair." I said as I placed a hand on my chest. "I know that feeling, all too well." I said as I touched her shoulder, with her jerking awake.
"Professor!?" She said as she looked back. "Sorry, I didn't know that you were here!" She said as she did her best to fix her hair.
"That is quite alright." He said, rolling over to her. "What do you plan on doing?" He asked as I couldn't help but be captivated by her beauty.
"What do you mean?" She asked, confused.
"Return to her what has been taken." I said as I placed a hand on her leg, with her gasping as it grew back at a slow rate. Once it was fully healed, she stood up, flexing and rolling her foot. "There, I'm done." I said as I started walking away.
"Dakota!" The girl said, with me looking back at her as she looked around. "He's dead... isn't he?" She asked as she placed her hand over her chest.
"Have we met?" I asked as I walked back over to her, with the man shaking his head.
"If you are Dakota, then no. She is a friend who has been trying to reach you in the demon realm." He said, with me nodding at that.
"Yeah, sorry to disappoint you, but it's not really the demon realm, but another planet all together." I said as I looked at the man. "After I died... again, I came to a realization on a lot of things. Titans, gods, celestials, the infinity stones, the list goes on." I said as I stood in front of her. "Now, after killing death, I've taken her place. There is a lot I didn't know, and I'm still processing it all." I said as I placed my hands behind my back.
"I see." He said with a smile. "So we will see you once more, but only in death." He said, with me nodding.
"That, or if I return to my body, you will just be absorbed into me to be reborn. I'm not sure how that works. I felt like that was what she wanted, but I just over powered her." I said as I heard my name in the distance, a black fog appearing behind me. "I shall see you later, Old Man, Pretty girl" I said as I walked towards the fog as I knew that voice.
It was Eda.
Later, Wanda's POV
Walking down the hall of the Conformatorium, where Lilith, lead Luz, King and I. We passed by towering statues covered in what appeared covered in meaty tendrils. We came to a stop in front of a small platform, similar to what Eda was on.
"You can take this up to the stage where they're holding Edalyn." Lilith said as she held her hand out to it.
"Thank you, Lilith. What will you do now?" Luz asked as she looked over at Lilith.
"I will stay in the Emperor's coven, but I will make sure nothing like this ever happens again." She said, with me looking around as this was too easy.
"That's good to hear." Luz said with a smile.
"Wait, why are there no guards around?" I questioned, where a red tendril wraps itself around Lilith's legs, pulling her down. She screams as she was pulled towards the ceiling. I made an effort to free her but was pulled away as well.
"Lilith, Wanda!" Luz called out as another one grabbed king and pulled him as well. King screams as he also gets taken by a tendril. "King!" Luz called out as she held her hand out to him.
We were dragged up near the ceiling before being suspended on either side of the far wall, with me being next to Lilith. Fires ignite below us, flanking a skull-like throne that Belos was sitting in, his staff in hand.
"Ah, Lilith. You chose the wrong side." He said as he looked up at us.
We were pulled upwards, with it going black for us.
Later
Opening my eyes, I was tossed into a cage. Looking up, I saw Eda was here. "Hello, Edalyn." Lilith said, with me standing up and seeing Dakota's body again, more black smoke coming off of him.
"Lilith." Eda said with a growl as she started pacing. "You hurt my kids, killed one! You cursed me. Before anything turns me to stone, I'll tear you apart!" Eda said as she raised a claw.
King jumped between them as I moved over to Dakota's body, holding him. "No, don't!" King said, pleading to Eda, stopping her. She was trying to help. She even betrayed the Emperor for you! King informed as I tried using my magic, but something prevented me from doing so.
"What?" Eda said as she lowered her claw.
"If I knew something like this would happen, Edalyn, I—"
Eda was interrupted by the activation of the petrification machine. We all looked at the machine's eyes as it begins to glow, first yellow, then green.
"Well... I guess that this is it." I said as I looked as Eda. "This is our fate, much was his to either save us all... or to end us all." I said as I looked back at Dakota.
The crowd started chanting "Let Eda Go", and it was heart warming to hear that so many people loved and cared for her. A bolt of green energy directs itself to the cage. Eda dives in front of us, taking the full brunt of the blast of magic.
"Edalyn!" Lilith cried out, with me looking away and seeing the black smoke getting sucked into Dakota. I watched as black fire appeared over his body, watching as he stood up on his own. He let out a roar as he grabbed the cage, absorbing the magic that made it.
He turned to face Eda and grabbed her. He forced her to look her in the eyes and he opens his jaw, sucking away a green force from inside of her. We watched as the petrification was reversed, until she was safe.
He turned to me and held his hand out, his bone like hands. Taking it, he sucked my magic away, hurting me as I fell to my knees. He pulled a scythe out of his chest and threw it as the statue, destroying it with one his. He held his hand up and caught the scythe, placing it next to him as he let out another roar that shook everything around us.
We watched as flesh and blood regrew, lungs and other organs up until his skin appeared, with it being whiter than snow. His hair grew back and unlike last time, it was blacker than the abyss. He cracked his neck, looking at everyone.
Eda screams in shock, with Lilith staring in fear. King ran over and hugged his leg, where I slowly stood up to face him as he looked back at us. He reached down and picked King up with his own hand, shocking us that he no longer had his powers over the touch of death.
Luz and the platform rise in between us and the broken petrification machine. Luz looked shocked at the sight of a resurrected Dakota, we all were.
"No!" The little red witch yelled in anger. "What is happening?" She yelled as Dakota turned to face her, black fire coming out of his eyes. He aimed his scythe at her, and spoke for the first time.
"I am no longer the one who has the Touch of Death. I am what comes after. I am the End of All things. I am beyond Death! I am what comes after Death! I am The End!" He said as he slashed as the air in front of him, creating a rift. He spun around and collected us with his scythe, which surprisingly didn't cut us as he did. He tossed us all through the rift, with us appearing at the Owl House.
Looking back, I watched as he walked through, with the rift closing behind him.
"Dakota!" Luz said as she stood up. "Are you okay?" She asked, with him nodding as he walked forward.
He placed a hand on her head, shocking her. "I'm more than okay." He said as he walked past Luz and now stood before Lilith. "As for you, judgment has begun." He said, with Lilith looking shocked. "I made a promise that I would never kill you, and I plan on keeping it." He said as he looked at Eda. "Punishment must come, and you deserve it for all the things that you have done." He said as he placed a hand on Lilith's as well as Eda's. "Your punishment is to share this curse that you have placed on your sister. You can do it yourself, or I can invoke it myself." He said, with both sisters looking at each other.
Lilith cups Eda's face as Dakota lets go. "I should have done this a long time ago." She said as she puts their foreheads together. "With this spell declared, let the pain be shared." Lilith said, where Lilith and Eda glow blue and float. Their gems glow, and Eda returns back to her usual witch form. Luz shields King from the light, and they both turn when it fades to see Eda, back to normal, and Lilith land softly.
"Eda!" Luz called out as she ran over to Eda. Lilith and Eda turn their heads to reveal that one of each of their eyes has turned gray, and Lilith now has a streak of gray hair while Eda has a streak of white and her gem is still black. Eda laughs as Luz and King run and hug her.
"Can you still do magic?" Luz asked, where Eda traces a spell circle, which disintegrates.
"That's a no. It'll take some time to get used to this, and that." She said as she looked at Dakota. "What happened? We thought that you died!" Eda asked as everyone was looking at him.
"I did die, and I may or may not have killed death to get my body back, and met some other people along the way." He said as he rolled his wrist around. "Also, can you believe that we're not in another realm but another planet!?" Dakota said with joy, shocking us. "I know! God there is so much that I have learned after killing Death and absorbing her into me and KING!?" He said as he picked up King. "I can touch you!?" He said as he hugged King, one he returned.
"I like this you better than the gloomy you!?" King said with a laugh.
"I feel that I've been weakened as well." Lilith said, with Dakota looking at her.
"It's okay. I can teach you what I know, and what we don't know, we can learn together." Luz said as she puts a light glyph in Eda's hand. Eda activates it, looking shocked that it worked. The ball of light floats into the night sky. Lilith walks closer to the others.
Eda ruffles Luz's hair. "Thanks, kid." She said as she pulls Luz into a hug. "I look forward to that." She said as she looked at Dakota, who walked over and hugged her as well. "WOW, you really can touch people now!" Eda said as she returned the hug.
"Also, another thing!" Dakota said as he broke the hug and walked over to me. "I've kind of been wanting to do this for some time now." He said as he placed his hands on my hips. He dipped me to the side, kissing me. I was so shocked at the sudden touch that I blushed. But, in the end, I gave in and returned it, wrapping my arms around his neck.
Yeah, this was just the start of our happily ever after.
