Sitting in the living room, I was hiding behind King's stuffed animal castle. I was one with the army. If I wanted to be in the army, I first had to become the army. Luz was studying and experimenting with glyphs in a notebook across from me. King was wary of us, us being Francois and I.
"Luz, I need your help!" King said as he ran over to Luz, hugging her arm. "I think Francois is trying to start a rebellion!" He said as he looked back at us. After a beat, I moved a jagged dagger with a red gem on the hilt, where it falls out from behind him.
"In a minute, King. I'm getting so close to figuring out this glyph combo." Luz said, making me grin as I laid down, and started moving towards them like a worm.
"It's always glyphs and portals with you these days. What about King?" King asked, placing his hands on his chest, with me jumping up and catching him, getting a scream from him.
"He is right, you should play more!" I said as I let King go and sat down next to her.
"Why should I?" Luz said angrily, making me frown at her words. "Ask Lilith for help, King. She was in the Emperor's Coven. She has more experience with unruly mobs than anyone." She said, with me looking over at her as she was kneeling at the desk, extremely focused on drawing a glyph with a red paintbrush. Her eyes only a short distance from the paper. Her hair was messy and the whites of her eyes are huge, with tiny irises.
"Watching the ink dry is the best part." Lilith said as she finished, with me feeling bad for her. She had everything and lost it all.
"A fresh cup of tea for my favorite cup of tea. That's you, Lulu." Hooty said as he moved over next to Lilith and set down a cup of tea.
Lilith smooths her hair, and her eyes turn back to normal. "Hootsifer, you truly are a gem." She said as she pets his head. "How do you always know what to do?"
"What's going on? Is Hooty blackmailing her?"
"Oh, they're actually friends." I said as I pointed at them, where I waved soon after as they looked at me and then went back to doing what they were doing.
"Isn't that nice?" Luz said as she closes her book and stands up, holding a glyph. "Okay, this will work for sure. Now you see me... " Luz said as she slams the glyph to her chest and vanishes. King gasps, with me clapping as she had finally done it. Lilith looks up at us again, interested. "...now you don't." Luz said as she reappeared. "Oh, I guess it only lasts as long as I hold my breath. Still pretty cool, huh?" She said, with me making one and slapping my chest, vanishing.
"Oh no! Dakota's gone too!" King said in shock, with me getting up and tip toeing over to the hallway. Once there, I made my way down the hall and at Wanda's door, with me placing a sock on the doorknob. I then made a sign that said "if there is a sock, don't knock!" I then proceeded to return and remove the glyph.
"Historically, demons have never been united under a single rule until Belos. There's no such thing as a "King of Demons"." Lilith said, with me knowing where this was going.
King throws a plush at Lilith's head. "Blasphemy! Clearly, you know nothing of my reign of terror. Allow me to tell you!" He said, with me picking King up and placing him on my head. "I was once the mighty King of Demons. I was beloved almost as much as I was feared. But one dark day, an evil spell was cast... transforming me into this!" King said as he made fists as he looked down in shame.
"Oh? What happened to your "crown of power"?" Hooty challenged, with me looking at Hooty and shaking my head at him.
"A trifle! That was just to test Eda and Luz's dedication to me! I don't need to test Dakota, he has always been on my side! But as for Eda and Lilith... They passed. My real crown is still out there. But when I shrank, my memories got, uh... fuzzy." King said, with me knowing why too.
"How convenient. A hole in your memory for each hole in your story." Lilith said, not believing him.
"Nice one, Lulu! Up top!" Hooty said, where Lilith "high-fives" Hooty's face, giving him a black eye.
"Hey, I remember plenty!" King yelled while pointing at them.
"I remember armies bowing before me, being served the greatest of feasts... and falling from a massive height as evil hex shrank me. One day, I'll return to my rightful place... and all shall fear me!" He said, with me nodding with pride at his antics. Luz grabs King and gives him a belly rub.
"Aw, you're gonna be such a good tyrant! Who's the scariest demon king? Who is it?" Luz said, almost like she was talking to a Dog.
"Me! It's me!" King said while laughing.
"Your dedication to this farce would be charming if it wasn't so sad." Lilith said, with me looking at her in disapproval.
"Don't blame me for your ignorance. I'm not a liar, and I can prove it!" King said as he got up and storms off into the corridor.
"He called me ignorant." Lilith said as she gasped, placing a hand on her chest. "Me!"
"Stop it, you guys. This story is really important to him, so the least we can do is play along." Luz said as she started putting King's fortress back together.
"You mean indulge his silly fantasy?" Lilith said sarcastically.
"Who knows, it all might be true, and how he said his memory is fuzzy, it might not be as he remembered." I said, giving them a hint that he wasn't lying, but remembering wrong.
"Yeah... I'm a house of principles! You're asking me to lie? Hootrageous!" Hooty said while rolling his eyes.
"Could you please just go with it? For his sake?" Luz said, with me shaking my head as they didn't listen to me.
At the doorway, King was struggling to get back through with two long poles in his arms. They fall, and he picks them up vertically and walks through. They were Eda's and Lilith's staffs. "All right, you two shall regret ever doubting me. We're going to my castle!" He said, making me clap.
"Oh, how fun! I'll meet you all there!?" I said as I summoned my scythe and cut a rift open, with me jumping through and now stood on a beach of a small island. "I can't wait!" I said as I sat down and hummed to myself.
Later
Looking up, I got up and waved at King, Eda, and Luz as they flew down to me. They land next to me and start to walk into the jungle, with me seeing that they brought Hooty.
"After I shrunk, I woke up here, in Eda's arms, and she carried me away. Like a wittle baby." King said with a smile as we followed him through the woods.
"Awww..." Luz then grumpily gestures at Lilith and Hooty to follow.
"Fine. Aw." Lilith said with a growl as she didn't want to indulge King.
"Look!" Hooty said with a gasp as the fog clears to reveal a dilapidated tower.
"Ah, home sweet home." King said with pride as I knew that it was more than it than he knew.
"We have a long way to go, so we better get a move on." I said as I cut the crass in front of us to make it easier for us to travel.
Later
Trekking through the jungle, I climbed over a tree root with King on my back, with Luz and Lilith behind us.
"That tower is certainly intriguing, but—"
Lilith was interrupted as she trips over the root, but instead of falling over, Hooty extends himself to a nearby tree trunk to stabilize her.
"Thank you, Hootsifer." Lilith said with gratitude.
"My pleasure." Hooty replied, but his voice was muffled.
"But couldn't we have landed a little closer?" Lilith asked, finishing her earlier sentence.
"The treetops are so thick, this is the only way in." I said as I looked back at them. "Plus, now we can dramatically do... this!" I said as I let King grab a bush obscuring the path. He pulls it aside, revealing a keyhole-shaped entrance to the tower.
"Ooh. A door fit for a tyrant." Luz said with a smile, winking at King.
King chuckled at that, wiggling around on my back as we walked. "That's me!" He said with pride, making me smile at his antics. We walked toward the entrance, which was blocked by rocks. I let King climb them as he was reaching for them. Once he reached where he wanted to be, he looked back at us. "I'll find you guys another way in. Wriggle, wriggle, wriggle!" King said as he crawls into a crevice in the rock pile.
Lilith walks over to a wall with a strange symbol caved into it. "Huh. What a strange material. And this symbol. I've never seen anything quite like this." She said, with me looking at her from the corner of my eyes.
"Ha! I've seen better graffiti. I've got better graffiti on me." Hooty said as he raises his side, showing "LUZ!" and three cool S's graffitied on him. I hit Luz over the head with the handle of my scythe, with her rubbing her head.
"Clean him up when we get back!" I told her, watching as she winced as she continued to rub her head.
"Luz, look! This predates any language I know. King's story may be a fake, but these ruins are a history mystery." Lilith said as she started giggles and claps excitedly.
The rocks collapse, clearing the way. King peeks up, looking at us. "Eh? What's a mystery?" King asked innocently.
"The only mystery is how Lilith can be so smart and so wrong at the same time. Academics, am I right?" Luz said while fake laughing.
"You so are. Come on in!" King said as he moved inside.
Lilith gave Luz a dirty look, and she sheepishly smiles back. "For the record, that's not writing." I said, shocking them as I walked inside. "It's Titanic Artwork." I called back as they followed.
"How do you know that? And what is Titanic?" Lilith asked as she walked next to me.
"Me becoming Death opened my eyes to many things, past, present, and future, though that is always changing." I answered as I looked at her. "Especially my fate on being Death." I said as we continued on, where we
They use light glyphs to make their own lights and examine the room, which is littered with rocks stacked to make the same figure of something with two or three round rocks as a body and a crescent-shaped head placed horizontally.
"Ah, the chamber where I would devour the hearts of my foes. The taste was cold and bitter, but I bet yours would be sweet, Luz." King added sweetly was he looked over at Luz.
"With all the sugar I eat, it better be." Luz said with a wink as we moved on.
Luz and I notice a shadow resembling the rock figures passing behind us. She gasps, stops, and turns her light around. "In due time." I said, still walking on as I did not stop.
"Can't believe your eyes, huh? My castle does have that effect." King said as he took notice to Luz stopping.
Yeah. So much wonder." Luz answered with a sheepish laugh as she continued onwards.
Hooty gasps, with me looking at him and Lilith now looking at a wall. "Are you seein' what I'm seein'?" He said, making me smirk as they had found the image of the Titan.
"These carvings, they're ancient." Lilith said with a gasp.
"Wh-what does that mean?" Hooty questioned as he knew the inevitable.
"Well, if I've never heard about this ruin, let alone this entire island, who knows what other parts of history we scholars have missed?" Lilith said, putting together part of the puzzle.
"Are you saying..."
"That he may actually have been..."
"The King of Demons?!" Lilith and Hooty said as one, looking at me as I stood between them and King, who was standing at the top of a pile of rocks, showing off to Luz.
"Does it?" I asked as I walked over to the wall. "Or is there something that you are not seeing?" I hinted as I looked at them, where I saw that they were gone.
"Ah, my kingdom. I, uh... I got some bone dust in my eye." I heard king, with me looking over at him as Lilith and Hooty made their way over to him and Luz.
"What was up there?" Luz asked as she looked up.
King also looks up at the hole in the ceiling with rocks plugging it. "I-I can't quite recall. I just remember a muffled roar, probably some minion praising my name." He said with a shrug.
"Well, uh... wanna head back? This is all so cool, but Eda's probably on her third cup of apple blood by now, and the last time, it was real hard getting her off the roof. Then there is Wanda... we kind of left her behind." Luz said, before Hooty knocks her to the ground.
"Your Majesty! It's me, faithful ol' Hooty. You know I was messin' around with you the whole time, right?" Hooty said as he moved around King.
"Your Majesty?" Luz questioned as she stood up, with Lilith pushing her down this time.
"It's clear these ruins are of immense historical value. Perhaps you could tell me more about them." Lilith said as I stormed over and helped Luz to her feet. I pinched Liliths ear and grabbed the neck of Hooty.
"You two need to learn your manners!?" I said as I formed them to look at me.
"I suppose I could, uh, regale you with some tales." King said as he quickly changed the subject, where I let them both go. "Am I using that word right? Regale?" He asked, looking at me.
"Yes." I said, where he nodded in return.
"Uh, guys, are you hearing this?" Luz asked, with me looking at her.
"I'll show you where my throne used to be. It was made from the teeth of my enemies and... Boy, was it awkward to sit in." King said as he laughed. King leads Lilith and Hooty down another direction. Luz and I went down the hallway together, and we see that the walls are lined with recesses containing stone figures, resembling the little ones in the foyer, partially covered in fleshy goop.
"What are these things?" Luz asked as she stops by one figure with its "hand" sticking out. She groans in disgust and passes by.
"Guardians." I said as I stood there, watching as Luz came back.
"Just kidding. I'd never leave someone hanging. Up top, buddy!" She said as she high-fives it. It falls apart on her, shocking her. On the ground, Luz looks up and sees countless other figures in recesses towards the ceiling. She shines her light and sees that one of them is empty. Suddenly, we hear a hissing noise behind us. She turns and notices a figure running away., with me smiling as Luz chases after it, where I walked after her.
Later
"Uh, it's hard to remember. But that handsome devil looks familiar, huh?" I heard King as Luz approaches them from behind. I looked up at the picture, with me seeing that King was talking about his Dad, not knowing the true story behind it.
"Tour's over! We gotta go! Now!" Luz said in a panic as I stopped next to her.
"But there's so much to learn!" Lilith protested, where I rolled my eyes at her carefree attitude.
"This environment is not conducive to learning. It's conducive to death!" Luz yelled, hysterical.
"Ah, you saw the horrifying monstrosity room. Don't worry, they can't hurt you." King said, making me smile at him.
We heard the hissing sound, with everyone looking up and seeing a fleshy rock monster, alive, crawling along the ceiling. It rotates its head down to look at us, where I waved at him.
"That one can. Let's go!" Luz yelled as she grabs King and runs for the entrance, but the monster jumps in front of her and blocks her way. It changes its right arm into a claw and swipes at her. Lilith attacks it with ice magic, pinning it to a pile of rocks.
"Sorry!" I called back to it as we ran for the exit, where I laughed as this was fun.
"Dang, girl, you've been practicing!" Luz complimented Lilith, who smiled.
"You may admire my progress when we get out of here alive!" She replied as she looked back.
The monster slides through the ice spikes and gives chase, running along the walls and ceiling before again pouncing in front of Luz and Lilith. I stepped in front of them, pushing it back with my scythe. It stands tall, turns its head and changes its left arm into an axe. It prepares to strike, but an explosion at the head puts it on the ground. Eda jumps in from the rocks, wearing belts armed with explosive potions.
"Get out of here!" Eda ordered as she grabs a potion. "I'll hold it back and meet you outside." She said as I watched them make a run for it. She tossed a potion at the monster, hitting it again.
"Eda! We can fight it together!" Luz said as she stood by Eda.
"You can't beat this thing." I said as I hopped around the monster as it swung its ax arm at me.
"Go!" Eda ordered on a more, with me jumping on the ax arm and throwing its balance off. I walked over to Luz and Lilith, grabbed their ears and dragged them out. Once we exited, we stopped and turn toward the entrance.
"More running, less stopping!" Hooty yelled, not liking being here.
"Edalyn said to wait here!" Lilith said as I leaned against the main entrance.
"We can't let her fight it alone! We have to go back!" Luz said, where we heard explosions from within. We all look at the door, all but I with a frightful anticipation, a terrified King clutching Luz. Just then, Eda walks out, clutching a wound on her shoulder.
"Edalyn!" Lilith said in shock as she runs up to Eda and holds her up. "You're hurt. What of that horrible creature?" Lilith asked as I now stood between them and the doorway.
The creature climbs up and hisses, brandishing its axe-arm. It swings down on me, but a blue forcefield appears in the tower and the outside. The axe-arm goes limp on the outside, and the monster pulls it back inside.
"It can't get past the entrance. We're safe now." Eda said as I waved at the creature, with it crawling away.
"That thing must be guarding this place against intruders." Lilith said as she looked at it.
"But it's my castle. How could we be intruders?" King asked, looking at me.
"Oh, you're not the intruder. Everyone else is." I said, where everyone looked at me. "Trust me, King is safer here than anywhere else in the world. Even from Belos." I said as I looked up at the tower.
"Ok, Kid, spill it!" Eda said as she walked up to me, getting in my face. "What is this place? What is that thing? And most importantly, what is up with King and this place?" She asked, making me smile at her question.
"This is King's home, his "Kingdom" as you would call it." I said as I looked up at the top of the tower. "It was made to keep him safe from any danger, beyond that of mortals." I said as I held my hand up to the sky. "The King you projected isn't King." I said as I lowered my hand, looking down at King. "But Kings father." I said, shocking them. "A long time ago, this planet was chosen to give birth to a god. You all know it to be the Titan, Wanda and I know them to be Celestials. Anyways, other Celestial beings came down to put a stop to its power, only to find that they resisted their powers, cancelled them out even. Unfortunately, this all started with a simple misunderstanding. The First wanted to play, as his brothers told him to do. He was the youngest of them, a child who doesn't know any better. He played with the Titans kin, and the Titan felt threatened by them. He retaliated, causing a war. King's father sealed The First away, and left his son behind until the time was right." I said as I faced them completely. "Your father is not dead, but lost. Where he is, I cannot say, but only I can reach him without endangering your lives." I said as I closed my eyes and shook my head. "He regrets sealing away the first for just wanting to play." I said, looking at each of them.
"Why would King's father step forward?" Lilith asked as she raised her hand. "Were these beings so powerful that the Titan was unable to deal with them?" She asked, with me shaking my head.
"No, the Titan and the Celestial beings were evenly matched." I said, with her nodding. "That is all I will say." I said as I shook my head as King was about to ask a question. "Everything will reveal its self down the line, how it should be." I said as I looked at Eda. "Want to share how you two came across?" I asked, with everyone looking at Eda.
Eda groans and falls to her knees, where Lilith starts bandaging her arm. "Well, It's time for me to tell you how we really met." Eda said as she looked at King. "Eight years ago I was looking for a place to hide from the Emperor's Coven. I never knew this place existed and it just... appeared out of the mist. So, I landed. Now, I was one hot tamale, but the boiling rains were even hotter. I needed shelter. But when I found it... I wasn't alone. I assumed you were just some stray dog. But then... that thing was gonna kill us both, so I picked you up and bounced. Against my better judgment, I took you home with me. I'd gotten you the collar, 'cause... well, that's what you do when you get a new pet. But then... you were making subjects, and standing properly over them. When I called you King, you took a liking to the name, and I told you about kings and their kingdoms. And that's how you got the idea you were some despotic overlord. Oh, but you were finally happy. So I kept playing along with it." She said, a smile on her face as she remembered their reunion.
"I... I don't know what to say." King said, lowering his head as he felt hurt at the news.
"King..." Eda said, reaching out and pulling him closer, hugging him. Eda takes something out of her hair, revealing it to be the broken piece of King's horn. King was shocked and curious about this, and he slowly takes it from Eda's hand.
He gasps. "My army? My feasts.. My life... No! Keep that thing away from me! It's messing with my head!" King yelled as he tossed it away, with me catching it.
Luz extended her hand in sympathy. "King, it's gonna be okay."
King was panicking. Y-You're all just making fun of me, like usual, right?" King said as he hyperventilates as he looks up at me. "You can see everything, tell me that it's not true!" He said, with me shaking my head as to tell him that it was. "No! No, no, no, no! No, no, no, no, no, no, no!" King, now on the verge of tears, holds onto his head and breathes heavily before running away from the group.
Luz gets up and forlornly extends her hand as we watched King disappear into the jungle. "King!" Luz called out as I looked at the horn.
Later
"King?! King! Please, come back!" Luz called out as we walked through the woods.
"There is no need to call out to him, I know where he is." I said as I looked over my shoulder at them.
"Right, because you are an all seeing God. The past to the present to the future. I would like to say that I don't like you." Lilith said, with me looking away from her.
Hooty, after looking sympathetic for a while, starts bawling. "Is this what regret feels like? I hate it!" Hooty cried out, with me pinching my nose in annoyance. Hooty droops over Lilith's shoulder and continues crying, where she gently pats him.
"I lied to him, even though I knew he trusted me. Now, he's all alone." Luz said, with me looking at her as she sits down and silently weeps.
"For now, our best bet of finding him is through Dakota." Eda said as she crossed her arms. "This island is small, and he's even smaller. He can't have gone far." She said, with me nodding. Eda kneels down and comfort a teary-eyed Luz. "Don't worry. We'll find him." Eda said, assuring her that everything was alright.
We continued moving forward, with me coming to a stop. "Luz, you must talk to him." I said as I moved the bush out of the way, showing King, sitting alone on a log, staring out at the sea. A sympathetic Luz walks up to him and joins him on the log.
"Why Luz?" Eda asked as she stood next to me, looking out at King and Luz as they talked.
"Because out of us all... Luz's lie of believing him hurt him the most. Or... would have if I didn't say anything." I said as I looked up at the sky. "I know what must be done... but at times... I don't have the strength to do it." I said as I looked down at my hands. "Yet, if I don't do it... More sill die because of my actions." I said as I made a fist.
"What are you talking about?" Eda asked as she looked at me, with me shaking my head.
"Too soon to tell." I said as I smiled at her, where we looked out at Luz and King. "King is a King, he may not be a King by normal rights, but King he shall be." I said, with Eda crossing her arms and leaning against me.
"He is special... isn't he?" She asked, with me nodding.
"The three of you are... yes." I said, closing my eyes as I smiled brighter. We watched as Luz leads King back to us, both looking worried.
"King! You're alright!" Eda said as she runs toward King, but then stops upon noticing him looking sternly up at her. "You're mad at me. I get it. I would be, too." Eda said as she kneels down. "I'm so sorry, King." She apologized.
King suddenly pokes her on the cheek. "Boop. No more secrets, okay? You have to promise me." King said, looking up at her.
"Only truths. I promise." Eda said with a smile.
"Great. Now, before we leave, we have one more thing to check out." Luz said as she points toward the tower in the distance. I smiled at this and started leading the way back.
Later
I walked past the monster, who was maintaining one of the little rock statues. It looked at me as I simply walked past, even winking at it. It hisses and gets up to attack, but then it sees an exploding potion being tossed and it gets hit. Lilith then flies in on her staff, aiming Hooty like a bazooka.
"Special delivery... Pain!" Hooty said, using a deep voice for the last word before he fires a potion out of his mouth, and it hits the monster again. Suddenly, something invisible flies low past it. Luz takes a deep breath in, and she, King and Eda reappear on her staff, just like the glyph spell the showed off earlier.
"You sure they'll be alright?" Eda asked Luz in worry as I stood under the hole in the ceiling. Eda stops, and Luz hops off the staff.
"Hooty knows what to do." Luz said with a smirk. Hooty was coughing up potions in a rapid-fire fashion, while Lilith was holding his head and looking disgusted.
"Are you sure they'll be alright?" Eda asked herself as she didn't like what she was seeing. While Lilith and Hooty are battling the monster, Eda flies up to the blocked hole in the ceiling. She sticks a potion into the rocks and jumps down toward us. "Ready?" Eda asked as she looked at Luz.
"I always wanted to do something like this!" Luz said with a grin as she readies a glyph as Lilith and Hooty continue holding the monster off.
"They're in place!" Hooty called out.
"Hold your breath!" Lilith said where she activates an invisibility glyph and they inhale, turning themselves invisible. The monster hisses and looks around, confused, before getting hit by the invisible Lilith. As Luz aims the glyph at the overhead potion, the monster grabs Lilith by the head, turning her visible again. Just then, Luz changes the paper into a fireball and flings it toward the potion. It hits, blowing the hole in the ceiling open. Hooty hits the monster with his face, freeing Lilith. She grabs her staff, and starts following us up the open hole.
"Fly, fly, fly!" Luz called out as I flapped my wings next to her.
We start going up the hole, with Lilith producing a glyph to light the dark tunnel. The monster gave chase until we reached the end. A tunnel has lead to a small, empty room covered in cobwebs.
"Nothing here!" Eda said, with me rolling my eyes.
Everyone gets off the staffs and starts exploring. King hears hissing, looks down the hole and sees the monster coming in fast.
"It's coming!" King called out, with me moving him back away from the edge.
King shrieks and scats as the monster swipes its arm at me, but was stopped as I grabbed its limb. "Kneel!" I said before letting out a howl that sent a shockwave across the room. The monster kneeled, shocking everyone. "King, the door!" I said as I pointed at the door. Walked up to it and touches it, which triggers a medical reaction.
The door opens, causing everyone standing next to him. They looked around as I made my way over, the creature being left behind.
"What did you do?" Eda asked me as she stood next to me.
"I used King's natural language to stop the creature, curtsy of his father." I whispered as I looked at the eggshells. "That... I have to keep between us." I said with a wink.
"This room is old. Very old." Lilith said as she examined the wall, which was decorated with decaying plants and a skylight on the ceiling. In the middle of the room was a golden pedestal. King walks up to it and sees the remains of a broken eggshell at the top.
"I knew there was something up here! I'm like the mystery whisperer. The butler did it, magnifying glass, secret door!" Luz said with joy, where I rolled my eyes at her antics.
"It looks like that creature was made to guard whatever was in here." Lilith said, with Luz looking at me.
"You called it a guardian earlier!" Luz reminded, with me nodding. "King, does any of this feel familiar to you?" She asked as she looked at King.
"I'm not sure, but I think I know how to jog my memory." He said as he turned towards us. "Eda, I'm ready." He said, holding biscuits hand out to her.
"Are you sure?" Ed's asked, worried about what he might find.
"I am." King reassured, where Eda takes the broken piece of horn out of her hair and gives it to King, who places it on his stump. He gasps as his memories return to him. "I remember a deep roar... And then, something happened... but I was too small to do anything. So, I went back to sleep." King said with everyone looking at me, with me nodding as they were asking me if that was the battle. "And the next time I woke up..." King said as he removed the horn, with Luz kneeling next to him.
"King..."
"That roar. It meant "son". I don't know how I know that, but I do." He said as he looked up at me. "I think it was my dad!" He said, with me giving him a weak smile.
"It was him on all those wall carvings." I said as I waved my hand, with a gust of wind moving the dead plants, showing more images of Kings Father.
Lilith takes a picture of the wall carvings with an instant flash camera; the others look at her. "Oh, sorry. Were we discussing important revelations? I'll... I'll just... do this later." She said as she clears her throat. She takes the photo from the camera and sheepishly hides it behind her back, where Hooty eats and swallows the camera.
"Maybe you weren't exactly the King of Demons, but..."
"I was important to someone." King said as he started tearing up. "If... If he's out there, I want to find him. I'm not that old! It could be possible! Would you help me?" He asked as he looked at us.
"I'd do anything for you, buddy." Luz said, where I hid my frown by looking away at the door, knowing that he would never meet him as I have.
"Then... can we keep him?" King asked as he points to the monster.
"No!" Everyone yelled, making me laugh at his question.
Hooty wraps his body around the girls, who are all looking displeased. "Yes!" Hooty yelled happily at the thought of another friend.
Later
Walking through the door to the owl house, I saw an angry Wanda looking at us. "Ah, I forgot about the message I left on her door." I said with a guilty smile, knowing that I didn't forget, but needed her away as she would of put herself in danger as her powers don't work on Celestial beings, and with the Titan being one, it would not work in his domain... for now at least.
"So, it was you?" Wanda said as she crossed her arms.
"I got this." I whispered to the others, who stepped away from me. "Yes, it was I!" I chanted as I held up the invisible glyph. "Now, watch as I make my grand escape!" I said as I placed it on my chest...
"Why didn't he disappear like last time?" Lilith asked, with me throwing the sheet of paper in her face and running, with Wanda giving chase. I laughed at her death threats, as she was never cuter than when she was mad.
