CAPTION 4 - The escape

Elizabeth went to wash up and get something to eat, Henry was almost there. An hour later, a horn sounded. She picked up her bags, looked around and said a prayer:

PROTECT ME LORD, LEAD MY STEPS TO THE RIGHT PLACE, PROTECT MY SON FROM ALL EVIL.

She picked up the letters and put them all in the kitchen next to the vase of flowers. Even if someone came into her house, it would take them a long time to find the letters and she would be far away. She had to get away, her father had signed a contract with Charles and his family in exchange for which he gave Elizabeth to Charles as his wife and sent Jack Junior to boarding school abroad. She had been running from Charles for years, Jack and Abigail had saved her from them several times. She thought it was all over, but after Jack they started all over again, but it got worse in the last two years, she discovered several of their plans. Lucas had been helping out with Fiona, but when Lucas was threatened with a gun to the head for dating Elizabeth, they didn't know it was a lie. Thank God Fiona intervened and they didn't do anything to Lucas.

Elizabeth left, picked up Jack Junior and went to the car, it was a silent journey. Henry and she had hardly spoken since their last disagreement over a year and a half ago. They arrived just in time for the train to leave. Henry checked their bags and, seeing the look of concern on Elizabeth's face, decided to ask:

— Are you in any trouble? Do you need any help?

She simply replied that no, there was no problem, it was simply a trip to meet Lucas in Hamilton, to sort some things out. Henry raised his eyebrows and thought to himself, at the very least the two madmen are going to get married. He didn't know what came over her, she loved Nathan madly and everyone could see that, but she ran away like crazy. Saying goodbye quickly, he left, after all, I had already given my help at least to what she had allowed. Elizabeth saw Henry's disappointment and once again regretted it. She used her middle name to buy the tickets, so there was Grace Marie and the child was Tom Thornton, she used Jack's brother's name because it was the one agreed with Lucas so that he could trace her steps. Elizabeth laughed inside herself, few people knew her full name, because most people thought it was Elizabeth Thatcher, well in fact her full name was Elizabeth Grace Marie Thatcher, she remembered well when Jack found out along with Abigail and how much they laughed at the grandeur of her name. The distance was being covered and Elizabeth knew she would have to get off on the way to take a carriage, as the train was being inspected at the stops by Charles, her parents and her sisters, as the order was to take her even by force. Her old butler always kept her informed of everything that happened in the house, so the threats against the lumber company, the threats against Judge Bill Avery, against Nathan, Henry, Clara, Abigail, Rosemary and others were all true.

Your father was going to end the career of the judge and the police officer Nathan. He went into business with the lumber company in order to get his hands on Lee. Against Henry, his father threatened to throw him in jail again. Against Lucas, his father not only tried to take away the hotel, but also made his mother almost lose her publishing house. That's why she had to stay away from everyone, she was afraid that something would happen to the children, so they would have something to really bring her to her knees. Last time, your father warned in his letter, your time is running out, either you marry Charles and come home, or they'll all suffer... it's your choice...

Tears streamed down her face; but she stopped and saw several red serges. Maybe this would be a good place to go down, at least it seems safer with the mountie here. She had been on that train for almost twelve hours, and had traveled through more than eight cities on the way. So, having settled with the guy on the train, they took off their suitcases and backpacks and were placed on the ground outside the train platform.

A smiling blond policeman, seeing her with the suitcases and the sleeping child, came to the rescue and asked:

— You need help, ma'am! I'm a Gab sergeant at your service. I can take you to a hotel if you need me and carry your bags, as the child is asleep.

— I'm E... silence as she realized what she was about to say. But I'm still Grace Marie, and if it's no trouble, I'd really appreciate your help. But I need a place with a small price tag, please.

He took her to the orphanage in town and told her it belonged to a friend. The rooms there were rented at a fair price and included simple food, but everything was clean, so that was how the orphanage's income came in. That's how Elizabeth met Lilian.
