Islands of the stream

Chapter Nine

Lee Crane had fallen asleep while Selma decided to check outside despite the rain coming down hard to saturate the ground. Along with the humidity dropping further to make it easier to breath in the air. Taking her canteen to see if she is able to fill it up for the trip once they start to head for the beach.

Looking over into the horizon she is able to see some type of flying vessel heading inward to the villages. She had no idea just what it might be at this time, She didn't bother to keep track since it was moving away from her, Lee Crane and the cave.

She was able to fill the canteen with ease. Afterwards drenched from the rain she needed to head inside with the illumination of the cave to see.

When she arrived inside. She was able to see Captain Lee Crane having sometime of a nightmare as his body was trashing about the ground. She had to run over to Crane screaming out to the man for which she knew nothing about accept the fact he wasn't married and he had spent many of his years on the SEAVIEW.

"Lee, wake up already you're having a bad nightmare." she says with trying to touch his shoulders even though she could wind up getting hurt in the process. "Lee, can you hear me?" she remarked loudly. She wasn't able to get through to him so she decided to pour cold water on his face to have done the job.

It was at this point that the Captain woke up from the cold water asking what was going on with her and the water, "Why?" he said with some venom in his tone of voice.

"I wasn't able to wake you, Lee from having some type of a nightmare." she said with remorse as the Captain needed to get himself off the soggy ground and with seeing a soaking wet Selma.

"What has happened to you, Selma?" he pushed himself off the ground making sure everything was in order with his lanky body having to be fit.

"I went outside the cave to check things out with the rain and with filling up the canteen to drink. However Lee, I was able to see some type of vessel heading towards the villages. I wasn't able to figure out where the vessel came from." she exhaled with taking a sip of the cold water from the canteen.

With the shake of his head by Crane, he will tell her with his body next to her. "We need to be going Selma in order to make it to the beach no matter it's raining or not." he says with a calm tone of voice.

She moved in closer to the Captain to plant a quick peck to his cheek as she tells him the following. "I agree, Lee. We need to be moving along before it's too late." she will allude to with her comment.

Gathering themselves together before moving outside into the rain that was beginning to slow down slightly. They will both start to run in the rain heading for the beach.

The Seaview had met up with the U.S.S. Caroline as the Seals were all together now with James Harris on board with his buddies. The Captain had given vital information to Admiral Nelson telling him that more of the Russians and Chinese have moved in further weaponry some five miles away from the villages and the beach. Although all of the hostages had been moved to another village a few miles from their previous location.

However there was a coded message telling the captain and Admiral Nelson that Captain Lee Crane and a British officer had flee the Russians. There was no further information on just where the both officers have gone at this particular point.

Admiral Nelson had asked Commander Chip Morton to have the Seaview made ready at full red alert in case the Seals are unable to locate Lee Crane and the rest of the hostages. He asked Sparks that he will be in his quarters in order to make contact with the two flying subs and their locations.

"Sparks, please be sure that no one inquires about the coded messages?" he tried to stay calm the best he could with a possible war hanging over his head with the Russians and China,

"Yes, sir!" he tells him from inside the radio shack.

"Thanks, Sparks for having to be discreet!" Nelson will sit down at his office desk in his quarters.

Before ending the conversation with the Admiral and owner of the Seaview, "No problem, Sir." Afterwards their was silence in the radio shack.
