"Why did you want me here?" Reille asked.

"The place was filthy." Bakugo said offhand.

"I think you were lonely." Reille persisted. "I mean, any man would be lonely."

Bakugo frowned. "I'm not a man."

"So?" Reille said. "I've had a couple of months to look around, you know. I found something heroic upstairs.

"Yes," Bakugo said. "I was once a hero. Like in your books."

"What happened?"

"I lost everything." Bakugo said sadly.

"I'm... I'm sorry." Reille said. "So you... you were a hero, once. An real hero. If I'm never going to know another person in my whole life, can't I at least know you?"

"Perhaps..." Bakugo said softly. "…perhaps you just want to learn the monster's weaknesses!"

"You're not a monster." Reille said. "You think you're uglier than you are, that's why you cover all the mirrors up, isn't it? Hmm?"

There was a banging at the door, Bakugo went off to open it. Prince Shoto was standing outside.

"I am Prince Shoto, and you, beast, have taken—"

Bakugo promptly turned him into a rose and closed the door.

Reille Walked over to him. "Who was that?"

"Just an old woman selling flowers." Bakugo lied, extending the rose to her. "Here. If you'll have it."

"Why, thank you." Reille crossed the room, taking a pair of scissors to trim the rose, put it in the vase, and set it on the table.
