You said that I was naive
Kagome was being followed, but not one but two women.
She quickly bolted into the room she knew held him, but if she thought that would stop them, she was wrong.
Sesshomaru looked up at all three women.
"Can we talk?"
He blinked,
"Alone,"
His mother smirked, but Baba did not.
"Very well, Miko,"
That meant they could leave. Kagome looked back and matched his mother's eyes. His mother narrowed hers, but both women backed out of the room all the same.
"You will pay for that later, Miko, my mother does not liked being challenged," She had a lot to learn.
Kagome put her hands on her hips. "I thought I was the Lady around here," She snapped, using the power of a title she didn't even want.
Inside, he gave her a point; she could use it against his mother if she truly wanted, but he knew Kagome was not that kind of girl, at least not yet, but his mother would see to it, he was sure. That was if they didnt kill each other first.
"And speaking of mothers,"
"Miko-
"Look, a lot, and I mean a lot, of stuff has happened, stuff im still trying to process,"
"Like goes on, Miko, how much time do you need to dwell on something you can not change,"
She looked away.
"Sit and dwell if you wish. I do not care, but I do not have time to sit here and argue it with you,"
She sighed. "One woman following me around was bad enough, Sesshomaru,"
"Take the lesson or do not; it does not matter to me, but it would serve you well to accept them; my mother does not make a habit of aiding humans; she would much prefer to eat them,"
Kagome's jaw dropped.
He picked up the paper he had been looking at, slid open the door, and walked out.
Kagome poked her head out. "You're kidding, right?" He kept walking. "Sesshomaru!"
He smirked.
"Miko," His mother snapped. "Lesson one and it easy, you will address his as Lord Sesshomaru, if he allows you otherwise in private that is between you and him,"
Kagome looked back at her,
"And two," Inukimi drew close to Kagome, "Do not think he will save you from me,"
Baba smirked,
"So uh, now what?" Kagome asked quickly,
"You may do as you wish; I am simply observing,"
Inside, Kagome groaned. She went about her day, doing as she pleased for the first time since arriving.
She planted some flowers, made some bracelets for Rin, swept her patio, picked some herbs and mushrooms, and then helped prepare them. She stayed busy, enjoying not being yelled at not to do so. She quickly forgot they were even there, though the demons around her did not.
The hour grew late, and Kagome was gathering up some laundry, but his mother blocked her path.
"Something wrong?" Kagome asked,
"I have let you have your way all day, Miko, but I will draw the line here,"
"Draw the line?"
"Put that down, girl!" Baba yelled,
"But he said I could do what I want!" Kagome protested,
Baba growled, but Inukimi put up her hand. "You have free will over this place as Lady, and yet you act more like a servant girl,"
"I just like doing stuff myself, I want to be useful,"
"Drop it, Kagome," His mother snapped, making her drop the laundry.
"Who do you want to be useful for?"
Kagome cocked her head to the side,
"This is his house, his rules, everything you do reflect him,"
"But Sesshomaru-
"Lord!" His mother sneered,
"Lord Sesshomaru," Kagome said calmer, "Does as he pleases,"
"You are a naive girl,"
Kagome looked hurt,
"It is my job to turn you into a woman, and it needs to be done before he returns,"
"Before he returns?" Kagome questioned,
"Untill he mates you are Lady to the Western lands, that has meaning, rules, honor," His mother unfolded her arms "He is doing what he can for you, is it to much to ask you honor this title for him while you carry it?"
Suddenly, Kagome felt bad.
"If a Lady wishes to plant the flowers, she may choose them, buy them, pick their spot, but never dirty her hands," His mother spoke softly,
"If a Lady wishes to for herbs, she may look for them, but not dirty her hands," She kept speaking.
"But Rin-
"Is a child!" His mother snapped and grabbed Kagome's hands. "His may be covered in blood so that yours may stay perfect,"
They looked at each other, eye to eye. "Do you understand?
"Sort of," Kagome was dumb to what she was saying. How hard could it be just to play by their rules for a bit? If it helped him, it was the least she could do, and she did want to be useful.
"It will become clearer one day when you become a wife and mate;" Inukimi squeezed Kagome's hands. "Now rest, girl, for when you wake tomorrow, your new life starts; when you rise, you will no longer be Miko Kagome but Lady,"
His mother turned and vanished; Baba quickly followed after snapping at a servant to wash the laundry.
