Numbuh 86 was on one of her bad days, she was in the cafeteria eating a piece of bread, the nearby tables were empty since no one wanted to sit with her when she is like that, she thought this was fine since she didn't want to talk to anyone today
That was when at the table next to her Numbuh 60 who had an ominous look on his face slammed his food tray on the table as he sat with an angry look on his face
"Oh no…" Rachel said "Those two are on a bad day…" she said while looking at her friends from the other side of the cafeteria
"Is that normal?" Numbuh 1 asked, he ate with his girlfriend on Saturdays at moonbase
"Pretty much, but it never happened with both of them on the same day…" Rachel sighed
"You wanna talk to them?" Numbuh 1 said
"When those two are like that the best thing to do is leave them alone, their work is stressful enough without their boss pestering them" Rachel said while she ate a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs
Numbuh 1 looked at them both, Numbuh 60 was tapping his tray with a fork looking at his food with a mix of anger and sadness on his face, Numbuh 86 on the other hand was glancing at Numbuh 60 with anger on her face each time she heard the sound of his fork tapping on the tray
"Could you stop making noise for a second?!" Numbuh 86 yelled at him
"I'm not in my best days, leave me alone Fulbright" Numbuh 60 groaned at her while still tapping his fork on the tray
"You aren't the only one, go sulk about your stupid training methods and that imbecile base on arctic elsewhere!" Numbuh 86 yelled at him then gasped "S-Sorry I…"
Numbuh 60 got up and looked at her with an angry look "You know what? That's a great idea, better than staying with a lunatic who feels pleasure in wiping people's memories!" Numbuh 60 then realized what he had said as he looked at Numbuh 86 who looked at him sadly and bolted out of the cafeteria, he then sighed in a sad tone "Great Job Patton…" he shook his head and then left the room
After Numbuh 60 left the operatives that were in the cafeteria started whispering among themselves, Numbuh 362 sighed in annoyance "Yeah… I will have to talk to them later…" Rachel pinched her nose bridge a bit stressed
"You want some help?" Numbuh 1 asked her a bit worried
"This is moonbase business, don't worry about it" Rachel smiled at him then kissed him on the cheek
Numbuh 86 was in her office sitting at her desk resting her feet on the table while covering her face with one hand, she was tearing up a bit "Idiot… it wasn't bothering me that much, why I snapped at him like that?" She sighed "He was on a bad day like me…" she said while looking at the ceiling with a worried look
While that, Numbuh 60 was resting his head on top of his arm sitting at his desk in his office, he had a depressed look on his face while he played with an elastic ball around his table with his other arm "She was a jerk but… I didn't need to go that far" he sighed
"Yeah, you didn't" Numbuh 35 opened the door to his office and looked at him crossing her arms smiling at him with an understanding look "How are you doing?"
"Numbuh 35 I'm not in the mood, go away…" Patton said in a monotone way
"You don't wanna talk about what happened?" Numbuh 35 asked him
"Not with you, go away before I make you go" Numbuh 60 said
"Alright… You should apologize to Numbuh 86 though…" Numbuh 35 said as he closed the door
Numbuh 60 sighed "Tell me about it…" Patton got up "She likes those rainbow munchies cupcakes they sell in the candy department…" Patton said as he left his office blushing a bit embarrassed
Numbuh 86 was resting her head on her desk crying a bit "I look pathetic… I should apologize" Numbuh 86 sighed and opened a drawer in her desk and took a book out of it "Let me see…" Numbuh 86 looked at a couple of phone Numbers from operatives around the world "Here it is, Numbuh 23" Numbuh 86 dialed her Number on her communicator and waited a few seconds
"Hello? Who is it?" Numbuh 23 answered in her usual excited way
"Hey… It's 86… can you talk?" Fanny asked the girl blushing
"Yeah Sure, what do you want? Is it about that fight you had earlier with Numbuh 60?" Numbuh 23 asked smiling already knowing Numbuh 86 would call sooner or later
"How do y… ah… KNN, forget it, Yeah… Look don't make fun of me but… could you send me a couple of those chili dogs those guys from your sector usually eat? Numbuh 60 loves those things and I…" Numbuh 86 blushed
"Say no more, I'm heading to Moonbase right now" Numbuh 23 hung her phone and went to her sector leader to ask for a few chili dogs
Patton was waiting in line to order Numbuh 86's cupcakes in the candy department for several minutes already when it finally reached his turn to make an order "Ten Rainbow monkey cupcakes" he said in a monotone way to the operative taking care of the orders
"For here or to go?" The clerk asked him with a gentle smile on her face
"To go, careful to not crush them" Patton said scratching the back of his head a bit embarrassed by buying the colorful girly treats
"Of course, the KND candy store takes the utmost care with all orders" the girl said while handing him two paper bags with five cupcakes each
"Thanks" Patton handed the cashier some money and got out of the candy department, he decided to head directly to Numbuh 86's office, after crossing Moonbase getting a few looks for his fight with Numbuh 86 earlier he reacher office, before he could knock on her door he heard the sound of her doorknob
Numbuh 86 opened the door to her room with a basket full of chili dogs her eyes went wide after seeing Patton was right in front of her door already holding two paper bags "P-Patton?!" Numbuh 86 looked at him surprised "What are you doing here?" She asked him while blushing
Patton scratched the back of his head also blushing "Look… I should have been more considerate about the noise I was making… I shouldn't have said those things about you liking to decommission people as well… I know it gets on your nerves when people say that so… I bought a few of those cupcakes from the candy department you like so much as an apology" Numbuh 60 said still a bit embarrassed
Numbuh 86 sighed a bit relieved "Don't worry about it… I'm the one who started and should be saying sorry, I shouldn't have snapped at you like that just for some noise… I also shouldn't have said that stuff about your training methods or arctic base" Numbuh 86 blushed "Look... I ordered these for you as an apology… I know you like them and stuff" she looked at him a bit flustered
"I… Thanks" Numbuh 60 smiled at her as he handed her the paper bags with the cupcakes while she handed him the basket filled with Chili dogs, he turned back and was ready to leave when he felt Numbuh 86 grab his arm "Fulbright?"
"Hey… Look" Numbuh 86 had a shy tone to her voice with a hint of embarrassment "My mom made too much hot chocolate today… I know it isn't exactly a match made in heaven with chili dogs but… would you like to stay for a bit and drink it with me?" Numbuh 86 was blushing heavily
Patton blushed "I… would love to, I can handle salty and sweet just fine don't worry" he laughed as he entered her office closing the door, he sat on a couch Numbuh 86 put on her office a few months ago "Nice place you got here…" Numbuh 60 said a bit embarrassed
"Yeah… It's kinda comfy… So? you wanna talk about why you were so sad earlier?" Numbuh 86 said while opening a thermos and pouring some hot chocolate on two mugs, she then handed one to Numbuh 60 "It's okay if you don't wanna talk about it"
"It's fine, It's nothing from my private life" Numbuh 60 sighed as he sipped his hot chocolate "A girl I was training gave up and left, said straight to my face I was the reason she quit because I was too harsh in the previous simulation" Numbuh 60 said before eating a chili dog "This stuff happens, it always gets me in a bad mood though, What about you?" Numbuh 60 said
Numbuh 86 sat right next to Patton on the couch "Had to decommission a girl that lives right in front of my house this morning… wasn't exactly my friend but talked with her sometimes while waiting for the school bus… she has a little brother that is an operative as well, I usually don't care about what boys think of me but… the look the boy gave me in the hallway before I went to the cafeteria… it ruined the day for me, made me angry" Numbuh 86 sighed as she started crying a bit
"Sorry to hear that… makes me all the sadder for saying that stuff about you earlier" Numbuh 60 patted Numbuh 86 on the back
"It's okay, I get that a lot" Numbuh 86 chuckled to herself in a melancholic tone "Besides, I know you said that in response to the terrible thing I said" Numbuh 86 patted Patton on the back with a little more strength smiling at him trying to lighten up the mood
"Woah!" Numbuh 86's pat on the back pushed Patton a bit making the hot chocolate on his mug fall on his shirt "Ahh!" Patton felt a bit of pain as he felt the hot chocolate hitting his chest and belly
"Oh God!" Numbuh 86 put her mug aside along with the cupcakes and focused on Patton "Are you okay? You got burned?" Numbuh 86 looked at him a bit worried{
"I think it's not enough for a burn" Patton laughed "I'm fine, the hot chocolate is wasted though" he said
"I'm so sorry, I was trying to lighten up the conversation" Numbuh 86 went to her desk and grabbed a few tissues from its drawer "Take it off" Numbuh 86 pointed at his shirt
"W-What?" Numbuh 60 blushed
Numbuh 86 groaned "Stop being a baby" she approached him and took his shirt off for him, she blushed a bit while looking at his well-defined six-pack, a result of his constant training at arctic base, she then proceeded to wipe his chest and belly with a few tissues, she was blushing bright red while doing it
"I think that's enough…" Numbuh 86 was blushing bright red as well while noticing Numbuh 86 had her head right in front of him while cleaning his torse from the hot chocolate
"I already told you, stop being such a…" Numbuh 86 raised her head to look at Patton that was when their eyes met right in front of each other "baby…" Numbuh 86 blushing calmed down as she looked at Patton closely, it was replaced by a warm sensation on her cheeks and a slightly pink tone to them, without thinking Numbuh 86 got even closer to Patton and kissed him on the lips, she then noticed what she had done after kissing him for a few seconds "I… I'M SORRY! My brain went on automatic and I-" Before she could finish her explanation Numbuh 60 pulled her into another kiss which she gladly accepted as she closed her eyes and decided to just enjoy the moment
"Fanny, You wanna talk about what happened toda…" Numbuh 362 had just opened the door in time to see her two friends kissing each other
Numbuh 60 was sitting on the couch while Numbuh 86 was standing up in front of him resting her hand on his bare chest, they had their eyes closed until they heard Rachel's voice and opened them only to see their Friend and Boss smiling at them with a wide grin blushing slightly
Rachel waved at them a bit awkwardly but clearly very happy for them, she then closed the door to Numbuh 86's office without saying a word and left
"R-Rachel wait!" Numbuh 86 looked at the door blushing bright red, she tried going for it but Numbuh 60 grabbed her by the arm before she could leave "Patton?"
"The damage is already done, you sure you wanna spoil the moment?" Numbuh 60 grinned at her blushing as well
Fanny giggled "Why do you have to be such a boy?" She said as she sat on his lap grinning at him and then went back to kissing him
"Dammit…" Numbuh 60 stopped kissing her for a bit to get some air "I think I'm in love with you…" he said while panting but smiling at her
"Idiot…" Numbuh 86 smiled at him as she pulled him into another kiss and then pushed him back "I love you too" she chuckled, this time Patton pulled her back into a kiss
A few hours later after a lot of kisses and even watching some cartoon on television while snuggling together like two love birds the couple parted ways "Don't worry, My mom can clean this stuff in a flash" Patton said while putting his shirt back
"I wish I could take responsibility and clean it but if my father heard I brought a boy's shirt home he would attack moonbase like a mad man" Numbuh 86 sighed a bit embarrassed
"Eh, don't worry, I believe in you" Patton laughed "Let's hang out for a bit in my office next time" Patton waved her goodbye and left her office with a huge smile on her face
It was time to leave when Numbuh 362 met the two lovebirds talking with each other in the main hangar in a friendly way, she knew what was going on though and grinned at them "How is my favorite couple doing?" she said in a low tone trying to not draw attention to them
"We… are doing okay… sorry for fooling around during work earlier" Numbuh 86 blushed while smiling at Rachel
"Are you kidding? Do I look that uptight?" Rachel laughed at them "I'm happy for you two" she smiled at them sincerely and waved them goodbye as she entered her Roadstar
"I should probably go my way…" Numbuh 86 blushed
"Yeah… me too… My office tomorrow during lunch?" Numbuh 60 smiled at her
"You bet" She smiled at him then left for her Scamper
