The next day, after returning from work, Audrey quilled out a letter to Martha, asking her to come round to her flat in London on Wednesday after work, hoping to convey in her letter the urgency of the matter.

The next couple of days went by as normal and when Wednesday evening rolled by, a knock on her apartment door indicated Martha's arrival. Opening the door and seeing her friend, Audrey squealed, "Martha, come in", hugging her. "Thanks for having me Audrey, love," Martha replied, "but why all the urgency? I could tell by your owl that it was more than just a social call you were after - what's going on?" Audrey stiffened. "I think it's best if I make some tea first," She responded as Martha took off her shoes, "milk and sugar as usual?" At Martha's nod, Audrey proceeded into the kitchen to make tea.

The conversation that followed was a very tense couple of hours. The revelation that Audrey's father was a Death Eater was not a shock to Martha, though she was a little hurt, "Why have you never told me this before?" Martha had asked at one point. The truth was, Audrey said that Martha had already known what sort of people her family were (Audrey had to call muggle-borns mudbloods lest her parents and their so-called friends get suspicious of her leanings, after all), and revealing that her family were in with the Dark Lord wouldn't have served any further purpose and would've simply risked Audrey getting in huge trouble with them. Martha understood this - she had been a Slytherin after all, and say what you like about Slytherins, but they understand that wherever you may stand, there's no point being suicidal - and seemed hurt, but was very grateful that Audrey should look out for her and her family with things so dangerous instead of just thinking of herself. "I understand how dangerous things are, Audrey, believe me I do, and I will be on my guard, but my work in experimental charms is going so well, and right now You-Know-Who is clearly busy rebuilding his army, with great ease at that due to the minister's denial of his return, and so I'll for now keep doing what I'm doing, but raise lots of extra protective enchantments over my property and my parents' property, and if it seems as though You-Know-Who is powerful enough to start moving against anyone he doesn't like, I'll flee the country with my parents and sister." Well at least Martha was convinced about the truth of the Dark Lord's return and the implications of it. Smart girl.

They said their farewells shortly after, for they both had work the following day, but Audrey slept content that night: scarcely a week since the Dark Lord had risen again and she'd already done something to oppose him, and done it with as little personal risk as possible.
