Life went on much the same way for Audrey for almost two years. She had to be very careful not to make her father suspicious by contacting him and his wife too often, but she did relay him information which was for the most part entirely true: that goblins felt that Ludo Bagman and, by extension, the ministry, had scammed them, and so they were very distrustful towards wizardkind at the moment. She therefore managed to get the odd piece of information out of her father, such as that he was looking for a man called Slughorn on the Dark Lord's behalf, but she certainly couldn't get much out of him, as she'd only been in the habit of going home on special occasions like Christmas and birthdays ever since she'd left school, and starting to visit more often would make her parents very suspicious.

Obviously things did happen too, like the escape of 10 death eaters from Azkaban - no point trying to fish information from her father, because Dumbledore would obviously know exactly how it had happened - and in June about a year after she'd first found out about the Dark Lord's return, the ministry acknowledged it too. She had really cultivated a pleasant friendship with Bill over these past several months, and with his girlfriend, and from what Bill mentioned, it seemed something had gone on involving Harry Potter and two of Bill's siblings (well one of them had to be Potter's best friend she remembered from school), and that this had led to ministry officials seeing the Dark Lord with their own eyes.

Titus and Alana got engaged shortly after the ministry's acknowledgement of the Dark Lord's return, and it was at this engagement party, attended by most of high society, that Audrey found out the first bits of information worth telling Bill in the better part of a year. As Corban Yaxley introduced his daughter to some colleagues from Magical Transport - Dorian Bletchley, Penny Merryweather and Jacinda Edgecombe - and a couple of Wizengamot members she hadn't met before - Kurt Reichgard and Hecate Armstrong - Audrey realised that this probably meant her father's efforts to recruit more within the ministry and Wizengamot had been successful, as she watched these people socialising with the Pattersons and Yaxleys. Quite a worrying picture that painted. The rest of the event was very dull, as all these 'high society' events tended to be, but Audrey drank lots of mead to make the time go faster. Almost a shame she couldn't listen to her family scheme with these corrupt politicians and ministry workers, but she needed a bit of reprieve from her monstrous family who were no doubt behind lots of the deaths and disappearances occurring with alarming frequency now that the Dark Lord had come out into the open. A part of her wondered whether that was why Titus and Alana - both children of death eaters and firm blood purists - had chosen now of all times to get engaged.

As Audrey lay down in bed that night, she really wished she hadn't drunk so much because now she had a splitting headache that was robbing her of any conscious thought.
