More developments followed in the next couple of weeks of what had transpired that night. When she next saw Bill, who'd been absent from work for several days, she saw the horrific scars across his face and somehow knew immediately he'd been one of the Order of the Phoenix members at Hogwarts that night. After exposing to him and Fleur what she'd heard from her father about that night, Bill explained how he'd been savaged by Greyback of all people. Merlin, it was a miracle Bill was alive. And if he'd died just before getting married to his fiancée...

Alas, Audrey had already turned down the invitation to their wedding. Much as she'd love to be at her friends' special day, if it was found out she'd attended the wedding of an Order member...she shuddered to think what would happen.

Audrey had already implored Martha to go into hiding - preferably abroad with her family - but her best friend had been adamant that she was happy with the protective enchantments over her and her family's properties, and that anyway, the Crew family was too irrelevant for the death eaters to bother personally targeting, especially with the lack of a muggle-born within it. It seemed Martha and her family were too happy with their way of life in Britain and their careers to let this faze them, "besides, Audrey love", Martha had said, "eighty per cent of the population might be targeted, and if we all went into hiding, the death eaters would have a pretty easy time of it, wouldn't they?" It was true what Martha had said, that some people had to keep going to keep society running what with Audrey's father, his associates and his vile 'master' now so powerful, and Audrey admired her friend's steadfastness, but a part of Audrey wished Martha would just take the coward's way out, because Audrey didn't have many friends in this world, and she didn't want to contemplate losing Martha when Bill and Fleur were in even more danger than Martha herself.

It would be many months before Audrey Yaxley would once again sleep soundly. Often she would cry into her pillow at the thought of what might very well await her: a life with her friends dead, people like her family ruling the world, and Audrey being discovered and brutally murdered.
