By the start of May 1998, things had come to a head for Audrey. She couldn't take it any more. Bill and Fleur had gone into hiding, wanted because their family had been caught aiding Potter. Martha had likewise vanished, though she wasn't on the wanted lists, giving her a good idea of what had happened to her, especially with her father raving about how they'd whittled down the mudbloods and were onto the blood traitors now - had Martha been caught opposing their policies, Audrey wondered with dismay. If this went on much longer, Audrey might suffer a full mental breakdown.
Luckily it didn't go on much longer. It started that day with Potter and his friends the Weasley boy and that Granger girl breaking in to the Lestrange vault and escaping on the dragon! Yes, a Merlin-be-damned dragon. So Potterwatch had been correct and Potter was still out fighting. How she'd hoped it was true for it was the only thing that had kept her sane for weeks, and then she'd seen proof with her own eyes, and it was surely the most awe-inspiring scene she'd ever see.
The Gringotts death eaters and a goblin left for Malfoy Manor to inform the Dark Lord of this startling development, while she had to help the goblins with repairs. It was nearly midnight before she was dismissed for the day, but Audrey was far too exhilarated to feel tired, and she knew she wouldn't be sleeping that night.
It was around 4am when a patronus in the shape of a dolphin arrived in her apartment and spoke in the blessed voice of Bill Weasley, "battle at Hogwarts, there's a truce now, come to Hogsmeade if you want to fight." So this was it. Finally her chance to make her family and their murderers pay. Too exhilarated to even consider the self-preservation that had plagued her mind for almost three years, Audrey, her wand aloft, apparated into Hogsmeade.
