Hey guys!
Here is the first monthly chapter of this challenge I'm doing! :D
I thought I could start things a bit slow and let it build up each month with a different chapter.
Also there are different suggestions for each chapter each month so I'll be updating once a month.
Enjoy!
I don't own Hazbin Hotel or the characters.
Thanks go to yearoftheotpevent on tumblr for the ideas and inspiration.
It was another day at the hotel and Husk was cleaning the glasses at the bar. He didn't like that he was roped into this job by Alastor the radio demon but at least he was near the booze every day and that was something.
As time went on, he became accustomed to his new surroundings and actually became acquainted with everyone else at the hotel; the other residents being Princess Charlie, serious and nagging Vaggie, always cleaning Nifty along with her pet cat, KeeKee, and of course, porn star Angel Dust and his pet piggy, Fat Nuggets too.
Of course, Husk wasn't the type of demon to make friends whether he was dead or alive; he usually kept to himself but he actually didn't mind the company of the others sometimes. Even if they got on his nerves every now and again.
"Greetings my good friend!" Alastor greeted with his usual smile.
"Hey…" Husk grumbled.
"Why the long face, Husker? A penny for your thoughts?"
"None of your fucking business!"
Alastor sat down on one of the bar stools as Husk fixed up a martini for him.
"So it looks like you've gotten used to your new life here." He said as he causally twirled his drink.
"Yeah yeah, it's not that horrible." Husk rolled his eyes.
"How are you liking the others?"
"They're okay I guess." He shrugged, "They're not as shitty as I thought and Charlie is really nice. Too nice in fact."
"She's more angelic than she lets on, I'll give her that." Alastor took a sip from his glass, "And let's not forget the spider over there."
"You mean Angel?"
"Yes indeed! He seems to enjoy himself more each day and doesn't always get close to the others. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the two of you never become friends!"
"And what the fuck is that supposed to me?!" Husk snarled.
"Oh think nothing of it, my friend." Alastor put his hand up, "I meant no offense. I'm just saying that you practically push him away every single time he comes in contact with you. If that's not rejection, then I don't know what is!"
Alastor laughed as Husk's ears dropped slightly and his eyes darted towards the ground; he didn't say it out loud but that comment kinda hurt him a bit. It's not that he didn't want to make friends, he just has a hard time trusting anyone before or since his time in Hell.
But then again, the radio demon did have a good point; since his first day at the Hotel, Husk didn't care for any of Angel's advances and always told him to go away. He was snapped out of his thoughts when Alastor placed his money on the counter and stood up.
"Well I must be off." He said as he walked away, "I'll be seeing you, Husker!"
"Uh yeah." Husk mumbled, "S-See ya."
Husk only sighed as he continued wiping away at the bar glasses; still, he can't get those words out of his head. Maybe Alastor was right…..he did push away people a lot and no one could really be his friend…or even love him.
He snapped out of his thought when he saw a gloved hand waving in his face.
"Hello? Earth ta Husky!" Angel Dust said, "You double dead or something?"
"Huh? Oh!" Husk shook his head and looked at him, "What you want, Angel?"
"I'll take a sex on the beach, if you please." He winked seductively.
Husk snarled and rolled his eyes as he fixed up the drink and gave it to Angel without looking at him.
"Something bothering ya, Husk?" Angel asked as held his drink.
"…it's nothing."
"Awww, you wanna talk to Mama Angel about what happened?" The spider cooed at him.
Husk wanted to make a snappy comeback but didn't feel like it this time. If he was being honest, he wanted someone else to talk to.
"Angel…." He hesitated for a moment, "Do you think they like me?"
"What?"
"You know, Charlie and everybody. Do my they actually like being around me or are they just putting up a front so I won't be lonely?"
"Ohhh I see." Angel set his drink down, "You're feeling insecure."
"I am not!" Husk hissed, "Look, never mind my fucking question."
"Easy Husky. I know how it feels."
"I don't-you do?" He looked with curiosity.
"Yeah." The spider nodded, "When I first came here and met the girls, I didn't think they actually like being around me. I thought they just wanted to use me to boost the hotel. But the more I was around them, the more they see me as a friend than just another demon."
Husk nodded in agreement as he folded his arms on the counter.
"I guess even though I'm not really one for friendship or all that jazz, I don't want people to see me as some grumpy old cat who hates everybody." He explained, "I really don't hate everyone here. I just can't always….trust others sometimes."
That's when Angel placed his hand on top of Husk's.
"Husky, it's okay if you can't trust most people." He spoke gently, "I'm like that too. I know it's tough but that doesn't mean you're alone. You've got everyone in this hotel who does care about you, even Al whether or not he wants to admit it. And you can always come talk to me if you ever need it."
Husk took those words into consideration and actually smiled at Angel before he realized he was still touching his hand and pulled away.
"Uh thanks.." Husk looked away blushing.
"Well I'd better go give Fat Nuggets his bath." Angel stood up and smirked at Husk, "But first…"
Then, without warning, Angel gently placed his hand on the back of Husk's head and lightly placed his lips on top of his; while caught off guard, Husk remained calm and didn't even bother to push him away.
"His lips…they're so…warm." He thought to himself.
He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't realize that Angel had already pulled away; the kiss only lasted a few seconds anyway. Then Angel placed his money on the counter and stepped away from the bar.
"Catch ya later, handsome." Angel winked before heading to his room.
For the first time ever since his death, Husk felt his heart race and his cheeks grow hot. He tried hooking up with women when he was alive but they never last very long; but something about that kiss from Angel Dust, a man, felt very different somehow.
Maybe…just maybe…it could actually work. It's possible he could actually be with someone and be happy for once in his life.
"Maybe things with him won't be so bad after all." He said to himself.
He went back to cleaning the bar glasses but he couldn't get the kiss out of his mind. Husk didn't want to admit it at first but it's possible he could have…feelings for the spider demon.
Only time will tell in the Hazbin Hotel.
