Author's Note
You might find this chapter a bit political. It does not reflect on my opinions on anyway.
Brisk, and his father were currently washing the dishes and Sonic was telling another story. "And that's was the third time I beat Metal Sonic".
"Oh man, if only I could fight crazy people trying to take over the world".
"Hey, your mother would freak out if she knew you wanted to go on adventures like I did, remember she wouldn't let you stay at the house by yourself until you were fourteen".
"You certainly didn't help by taking her side".
"She doesn't use the hammer on you", Sonic retaliated.
"Yeah, if she did, I wouldn't be vocal about supporting me either". After finishing the dishes, Sonic with to his room with his wife while Brisk, went to his own room. Dropping on his bed, he fell asleep.
"Huh, what". Although it only felt like a second, he must have taken a nap. His eyes were only half open. His mother was cleaning the floor with a vacuum and it was a very noisy one. He didn't say anything he just sped downstairs, got a snack and ran out the door. Amy shook her head; it was ten minutes past 2. She needed to start cutting back on his naps, they take so long that he can't sleep at night.
The hedgehog was running enjoying every second. He looked up at the sky, but it was that one second that made him run into someone. Getting up he saw a young fox lying on the ground.
He mumbled. "Sorry".
"Don't be, it was my fault", said Brisk giving a hand to help the fox up. "I'm Brisk".
"Um, hi I'm Rocky, nice to meet you, you seem to be very fast".
"Not to brag but I think I'm even faster than my dad. What about you"?
Rocky considered that. "Not sure, I mean my tails make me faster but I don't use them much".
"You have two tails"?
Rocky looked away embarrassed.
Brisk gave a thumbs up. "That's awesome".
"You think so", Rocky replied happily. Not many commented on his tails but he did run into 2 or 3 who made fun of them in his life.
"Let's see how fast they really are, come on". Brisk ran, although hesitant Rocky chased after. His tails were helping him to keep up although Brisk wasn't using full speed, he wanted to give a beginner a chance.
Meanwhile at the city a big crowd was gathering for the mayor's speech. One was Ruby, although she wasn't here for the politics. No instead she was here to do a little pickpocketing. This many meant that at least some might have something worth taking.
She had to be careful with all the guards in sight. To be truthful, she didn't know why Mayor Perci Bandicoot needed protection. Sure they weren't Mobius Protection Solders, but the normal security seemed like overkill anyway. It's not like anything bad ever happens in this city.
She was currently flying over the Mobians, seeing who might have something worth taking. She found a good few who might be worth robbing.
A limo suddenly stopped and out came Perci Bandicoot, who got a cheering crowd and many taking pictures of her. She just smiled and gave 2 thumbs up.
Heading for the stand she stood a few seconds in silence before she began speaking. "Citizens off this great city. It has been years since we dealt with Eggman. The Mobius Protection Unit has been made to defend us. I myself has once been a member, wanting to protect this you all. But the truth is, it is also very expensive. The city has almost gone into debt more than once. Other things such as healthcare and education has been reduced to pay for them. That is why I want to cut back on the MPU".
This earned gasps from plenty.
"MPU is a private organization, other cities went bankrupt, trying to pay for them. As someone who was once a member, I can tell you, their only concern in money. But I assure you, defence is still a priority. I'm not naïve enough to say that no threats are out there, but we don't need to waste your hard-earned money to pay for something that sponges off the city it should protect".
There was silence and then, cheering.
From a building, Sleet was looking at Percy with the scope was aimed at her head. Dingo was the gun. "Why did you wait until the speech was finished".
Sleet shrugged. "I was going to shoot her, half way through, but it was an inspiring speech. I had to hear the end of it". The bullet fired in slow motion going for her head.
However, Brisk who was running, didn't pay attention and ran straight into Perci, barging into her knocking her out of the way.
Rocky who was not fat behind stopped when he heard the gun shot, so did Ruby who nearly fell out of the sky from the shock.
"Someone tried to assassinate the mayor", yelled a random person in the crowd. They began panicking and running away".
Sleet growled. "Drat, let's get to her".
Unluckily for them, the M.P.U troops were heading for the building.
As for Perci, Brisk was helping her up. "Sorry about that".
"It's alright, you saved my life, even if by accident. Someone is out to get me, now I'm a true politician, I wonder who"?
She got her answer when she saw what looked like a giant orange mech easily knocking out the security. "Out of my way", yelled Sleet.
Dingo said as he knocked them away. "Get bent".
"Get the Mayor out of here". 2 guards escorted her away.
Perci wasn't concerned for herself right now. "Wait the kids".
Don't worry me and Rocky will take care of this", shouted the hedgehog.
Rocky was shocked. "We will"?
"Wait", she pleaded but it was too late.
He ran to confront the 2 and Rocky followed, not wanting his new friend to face the danger alone.
"Who are you", asked Sleet.
"I'm Brisk the hedgehog, son of Sonic the hedgehog".
"Your Sonic's kid", Dingo asked in surprise.
Sleet sneered. "Trying out the family business of being a hero, let's see how it works out for you, attack"!
Dingo attempted to crush Brisk who ran out of the way, he tried using a homing attack in retaliation, but Dingo knocked him away.
"It will take more than a rollie poli attack to stop me"!
Sleet again used Dingo to crush Brisk, only to fail. Ruby now standing on top of a building watched the fight with interest.
The evil duo tried again only for Dingo to suddenly freeze. "What's going on, I didn't give you free reign of your body"!
"I'm not doing anything Sleet", protested Dingo.
"I did". Rocky was holding a device in his hand. "I hacked and made Dingo useless, take advantage".
Smirking Brisk, spin dashed at Dingo, causing a bit of damage, but the hacking effects wore off. Sleet was back in control and this time went for Rocky. He flew away, the attack barely missing him.
Dingo was cross. "Now you both will pay"!
Dingo continued attacking and failing, Rocky was attempting to rehack Dingo, but was having more difficulty. Ruby decided to intervene and use the tornado attack similar to her mother.
The attack knocked of Dingo and Brisk attacked Dingo over and over with the homing attack now that he couldn't do anything. After 10 of them Dingo finally tipped over.
"Curses", muttered Sleet as he used the remote to turn Dingo into a small saucer. "Another day Brisk"! He hopped on top of Dingo causing the turned saucer pain in the process before flying away.
"Hey"!
Brisk was going to follow but an M.U.P soldier blocked him. "Thanks for your help, M.P.U will take it from here".
Ruby huffed. "Really? Taking over now that they fled". She muttered to herself. "Mom is right not to pay taxes".
Brisk was going to protest but Rocky pulled him away. "Happy to help".
The black lizard sent soldiers to hunt the 2 down.
Brisk, Rocky and Ruby talked in the aftermath. "So, your dad's Sonic", Rocky asked. He could not believe when he first heard it.
As Brisk nodded again, Rocky gasped again. "My papa was once friends with your dad. He went by the nickname Tails".
It was his turn to gasp now. "Tails, my dad's best friend back in his fighting days, I guess I should have suspected with the two tails".
"You two forget about me", Ruby asked.
Rocky apologised. "Oops sorry".
"Yeah, thanks for your help", added the hedgehog.
"It's not every day you meet the sons of Sonic and Tails. Small world, considering my father went on adventures with the two as well", explained the red bat.
"Wait, are you saying", Brisk began which Ruby finished. "Knuckles the echidna".
"Wait, our dads fought together", Rocky said intrigued.
Brisk nodded. "It really is a small world. We should hang out sometime".
The 3 parted ways. When Brisk, got home, his mother practically tackled him, "Brisk, are you hurt? Did they leave any scars"? She was checking him for even a small one.
"Mom, I'm fine, why wouldn't I be", he asked. His mother pulled him into the living room and turned on the tv.
"This hero not only saved the mayor's life, but had assistance from these two". Pictures of Rocky and Ruby joined Brisk on the screen. "Oh yeah, mum, he's my new friend, I didn't tell him yet, but I can see us working out. He said pointing at the picture of Rocky. "I'm not sure about the bat, she showed up to help but we didn't really talk much after that".
Amy couldn't help but notice the twin tails. She highly doubted it was a coincidence he had something another fox she once knew had.
"Did that fox mention his father", Amy asked curiously.
"Yeah, it's Tails, can you believe it"? Amy was surprised to hear a name she hadn't heard in years.
As for Rocky he just got back and his mother was checking him, unknowingly to the 2, unknowingly the same way Amy checked her son.
"What were you thinking getting involved in that fight"?
"But you and Papa did it all the time when you were kids, younger than me in fact".
"That's not the point. You could have gotten hurt". Tails was stern, but kind.
Cream shook her head. "You're not leaving the house for a week without me or Miles".
"What, but Mama".
Tails stopped paying attention now and focused on what he heard on the tv, he couldn't help but focus on what the news said about the hedgehog being Sonic's son.
He wasn't the only one, Knuckles at first was surprised when he heard about Sonic's son, but he lost all focus on that when he found out his daughter was involved in a fight with assassins.
Ruby came through the door, and Knuckles did what Cream and Amy did.
"Good job Ruby, way to make the news", Rouge cheered giving a thumbs up.
Knuckles gave an unamused look. "Are you serious? Our daughter was in harm's way".
"And came back unscratched", she pointed out.
"She could have been hurt", he argued.
"She wasn't though".
"Do you care about our daughter's safety"?
"Of course, I do! Don't you dare imply otherwise, just because I don't think she needs to have her hand held every day". And they were fighting again. Ruby just put her fingers to her eyes annoyed.
