Chapter 8: Candy or Aurora?

Toy came in with some more tea. She did not give Joshua more because he was healing well. She did give Candy some tea. She felt that Candy needed to sleep while she talked to Jason and Joshua. Once Candy was asleep, she asked Jason and Joshua to come outside with her. They stood in the alleyway of the busy Chinatown streets.

"Jason, Joshua, Candy is not Candy, she is someone else!" Toy said. Joshua looked at Jason with fear in his eyes.

"Are you sure Toy?" Jason asked worried what she was going to say.

"Oh, yes, very sure. Candy and I spoke many times of something that I cannot mention to men, it is female private! But this 'Candy does not react when I mention the subject. If she were the real Candy, she would know what I was talking about!" Toy looked at Jason and waited for him to explain.

"Toy, Candy has a twin sister who was kidnapped many years ago before Candy was old enough to know her. We had some trouble with some wolves about 6 months ago and she showed up. Her name is Aurora von Sydow." Jason said. Toy listened and asked:

"What are you going to do?" Jason was about to speak when Joshua said:

"I think we are going to have a little talk with her when she wakes up?"
"Yes, I agree. Toy, will you and Lin help us. We need to watch her. She is not to be trusted."

"Should we tell Clancy?" Joshua asked as they reentered the home. Jason nodded yes and found Clancy and whispered the information to him. Then since Aurora was just waking up they went to where she was and Joshua sat on one side of her, Jason sat on the other side. Lin and Clancy stood by the door and Toy was at the end of the bed. She opened her eyes and saw the group sitting and standing around her. She sat up and looked at them all.

"Well, Aurora, you were rescued by Chin, who is Lin and Toy's son. He did not know who you were, so he brought you here thinking you were Candy." Jason said to her. She looked at the group. She recognized Clancy and Joshua but did not recognize the rest of the people except for the boy.

"Do you mind telling us why you are here and where Jeremy and Candy are?" asked Joshua who was sitting next to her right shoulder. She looked around and said:

"Yes, I am Aurora, but how did you know?" She asked, Jason smiled and said:

"That is not important at the moment, we want to know what happened to Candy and Jeremy!" She swallowed hard and said:

"I was about to release them when someone came in to the warehouse and took over, He had a gun and he tied me and Candy and Jeremy up."
"Who came?" Jason asked.

"A man, his name was, was…" she hesitated. She did not want to say she had hired him to help her kidnap Jeremy and get rid of Candy, but she had no other way of explaining herself! Toy looked at Aurora and quietly said:

"The Truth shall set you free! That is what they taught me at the mission school!" Aurora looked at Toy and wondered why she had said that. Then she said:

"I had hired a man to help me get Jeremy and Candy. I could sing and Jeremy was hypnotized by my voice. Then I had him jump into a wagon, he saw Candy in the wagon, she was tied up, but I was singing. After Jeremy landed in the wagon, we left and went to the warehouse. As I was getting out of the wagon, he grabbed me, his name is Rafe. He said he knew that I always wanted him. I did not answer him, I did not know him. His henchmen came in and brought Jeremy and Candy in and set them on the chairs. Candy called me Candy and said that she would start to sing if that would help. Rafe looked at her and since we are sisters and look similar, he was confused. He sent Bruno over to Candy, who called herself Aurora and had started to sing a song. Rafe told him to gag her and not let her sing. Then he tied me up and put me near Jeremy. They had already placed a helmet over his head and blindfolded him as well as putting extra cloths over his ears so he could not hear anything or see anything. Then Rafe said to me,

"Candy, Darling, we are finally going to be together!" I looked at him and did not say anything."

"Why didn't you try to sing?" Joshua asked

"Because to hypnotize someone with a song takes time. Jeremy would be the only one to react. I also did not want to get me, or Jeremy or Candy killed!" Jason looked annoyed at the interruption and said:

"Get on with it!"

"So, he had gagged her, and me he had not. So, when as I said earlier, Bruno punched Candy and I was taken outside to the docks. That is where the young boy found me!"

"Aye and ye were a lucky lass to get found before that ship sailed!" Clancy said. And then he said:

"Well, the Chin and I know where they have Candy and Jeremy. The Old-timer's Saloon. It is in the not so savory place of San Francisco." Clancy said. Jason thought about it for a little while then Lin said:

"I think if we gather a few of our most trusted friends and use Clancy's ship to get to the shanty town. Chin and Clancy will go to the basement and rescue Jeremy and go back to the ship. Joshua and Jason and I and a couple of other friends will get Candy out from this Rafe's grasp, and we will get to the ship as well." Jason and Joshua listened and said that sounded like a good plan.

"What are we going to do about Aurora?" Joshua asked.

"Please, take me with you, I am not going to harm Jeremy or Candy. I realize that they both love each other! I cannot win Jeremy's love. Please?" Aurora asked. Both Jason and Joshua looked at each other than Toy said:

" To err is human, to forgive divine!" She smiled and waited for the men to think on that.

"Well, you will come along but we will keep you locked up in the jail. When Candy and Jeremy get back they can make the decision for themselves!" Jason said. Toy was pleased and said:
"I will come along to help. You will all need some tea and food!" with that they gathered what they would need and left to get on Clancy's ship to sail to the other side of the bay. Lin went into China town and found some friends who would help, and they took an overland route since it was not far from Chinatown.
