"Not again!" Adrien groaned, as he tripped over the cardboard box by his desk. He sighed, running his hand through his blonde hair. How many times had he tripped over it? He had brought it from home, for old paperwork, but Adrien somehow always got distracted.
"Adrien?" Sophia, one of Adrien's workers knocked his office door. "You okay?" When Adrien had taken over his father's company he had told them to call him Adrien and not Mr. Agreste. Brought on way to many painful memories.
"Yes?" "I just wanted to make sure your okay, and that I finished the blanket for Marinette," she said, handing over the blanket to her boss proudly. The blanket was green with little ladybugs all over it.
"Thanks, Sophia. In fact, I'm going to run it to Marinette's right now!" It was the perfect time, and Adrien needed to get out of this crowded office for a hot minute.
Shrugging on his coat, he held the precious blanket tightly. Snow was beginning to fall as Adrien stepped outside, and he was glad for his warm scarf and hat.
It felt wonderful to be out in the fresh air though, which was beginning to smell suspiciously of hot chocolate. Adrien grabbed a quick drink at Starbucks, and was crunching his way in the snow again in five minutes flat.
He was almost to Marinette's building when he heard an odd noise coming from the alleyway. Carefully, Adrien started down the alley, careful not to make any noise. "Meow, meow," his ears picked up on the meowing sound faintly.
There was a cat nearby, but Adrien couldn't tell where. Straining his ears and listening carefully, Adrien pinpointed the sound coming from beneath a cardboard box.
A small black fur ball sat huddled and shivering behind the box, snow covering its black coat. "Oh, you poor thing. Are you alone in the cold?" Adrien asked, then he noticed the blanket. "Come here, sweetie. Come here and get warm."
Wrapping the blanket snugly around the little cat, Adrien cuddled it close. Marinette would understand about her blanket, and Adrien headed back to work.
He made a soft nest in the cardboard box that he had been so mad at earlier, now happy it was here. Adrien watched the cat settled down now happy he hadn't thrown out the box after all, as he watched the cat, which would be named Snowball curl up and go to sleep.
