A/N: I love the Percy Jackson series and I own all of the books signed. This is a story that I've attempted a couple of times. Hopefully this time i get it right.
Anyway, here is the story, enjoy:
476 CE, Rome
A single man stood alone on a balcony overlooking the burning city that was under his control.
He didn't not seem bothered by the fact that his city was being sacked and destroyed. No. he seemed to be in an unbelievably calm state for someone who was losing everything. He remained there, unmoving until he felt a presence come up behind him.
"I knew that you would come for me. As I knew that it would be here where I would meet my end." Said the man who was overlooking the city without turning to see who had approached.
"Is that so? You felt that you would find your end here? Pull your head from ass!" came the rough voice from behind the man who still hadn't turned around.
"Hn. I pity the fool who doubts someone blessed by the Gods. But what more should I expect from the son of woman who serviced many cocks." Said the balcony man
"Ah, I will miss this back and forth Romulus. I am sure that Pluto will save you a special spot in hell. But here it is, the end of the Roman Empire brought to an end by the son of a whore as you would say."
Romulus smiled and turned to face his Bulgarian enemy.
"I fear not death as any true Roman should not fear death. But remember this BOY, the Gods will never let fortune not shine down on the child of Rome. Victory shall one day rain down on Romans again. Maybe it be tomorrow or in a 1000 years, but the sun shall shine on a Roman Empire again."
The Bulgarian man smirked and replied kindly with, "Those shall be the famous last words of the last emperor of the Roman Empire, Romulus."
And with that, the Bulgarian savage raised his sword to the sky before rushing forward and slicing the head of Romulus clean off of the now dead emperor's shoulders.
Little did either of them know it, but Romulus was correct. The Gods did favor the Romans to a certain degree and while they adapted to each new place that they ventured, they never forgot the power they felt as Romans nor the worship and tributes that they received.
They were unable to do anything about it until the 1860's during the American Civil War. The civil war was about more than just North vs South in a battle about the attempt of breaking from the union by the southern states. The majority of the people fought for those reasons, there was another group of people fighting.
The Roman Demi-Gods from the west were trying to exterminate the last of the Greek Demi-Gods from the east.
1865 â€" December, Olympus
The King of Gods was not having a good day, he knew that he was THE King of the Gods. Of that he was certain, but he was not certain of which King of Gods he was. All day, he was flashing back and forth between his Roman and Greek forms. One moment he was Zeus, smiling down on the forces from the East. The next, he was Jupiter, giving advice to the forces advancing from the West.
The constant morphing from one form to the other form was causing him to get a headache. This is why he had summoned his brothers and sisters, they needed to discuss this. He didn't include his children because he could do without the harping of Mars/Ares or Athena about having to choose a side when they either favored one side more than the other or wanted nothing more than blood to be spilt.
He was Jupiter when Poseidon and Hades both arrived in their Greek Forms. They were joined by Venus, Juno, Demeter, and Vesta. The main seven elder Gods and Goddesses were all together.
"My lord, what is the reason that you summon us?" questioned Juno as she waved her hand to herself and the other 6 immortal beings in the room.
Jupiter narrowed his eyes and his face twisted into what could only be called a happy snarl.
"I call upon the present company because I have been forced to adapt my forms back and forth by the actions of the Demi-Gods down below." Started Jupiter and finished Zeus.
Poseidon nodded, and Pluto agreed verbally.
"What would you have us do today, brother?" Poseidon asked Zeus.
"I would have us put it to a vote for our actions today. We cannot continue to be molded by the child that we sire below. I say we put it to a vote whether I strike a massive blow to the Roman children of ours or to the Greek Children of ours."
Juno huffed as she was reminded of her lack of children and her husband's lack of loyalty.
"You want me to vote on the countless bastard children that you have down below? I saw we wipe them all off the earth and be done with it. Hell, you're lucky that I do not take dagger to your cock, dear husband" spat the Queen of Gods.
"I will take that as a vote for Greeks then" said Zeus
Hestia frowned and said, "I does not matter to me what we pick, I prefer our Greek style of living of the past. The carefree, loving family has been dead for years, we do nothing for the Heroes anymore, only for those who honor us with gifts which is the Romans"
"Roman" said Hades
"Roman" said Neptune
"Greek" voted Venus
"The Greeks work hard in the fields that they tend to, not like the Romans who would rather steal than work. Kill the Romans" spat Demeter remembering the conquering ways of Rome
Zeus stood up and walked to the edge of the throne room, his master bolt in hand.
"3 votes for the Greeks to be killed and 3 votes for the Romans to be killed. I guess it is my vote that will be the tie breaker." Said Zeus before lifting his master bolt and taking aim at the Roman line of soldiers opposite of the Greek warriors across the field.
Suddenly as he started his motion to strike with his bolt, his form morphed into his Roman form, Jupiter. The now Roman King of Gods managed to redirect the bolt of lightning at the last second and rained down death on the last main group of Greek warriors.
Jupiter was still his form, but Zeus was still inside of the body and couldn't help but think 'What have I done'.
August 18th, 2007 â€" Long Island, Castellan's Ludus Compound (Formerly Camp Half-Blood)
It was barely 5:30 in the morning when the people in the compound were awaken by the same person giving them the same command they heard almost every day.
"Boys, on your feet. Your master approaches for the quarterly morning inspection, I better not see any disappointment in his eyes today. If he is disappointed, I will be disappointed, if I am disappointed, the lot of you will be without food or water for at least 5 days." Commanded the Doctore, a Centaur by the name of Chiron
This brings us to the start of the real story, the rise of Fluctus: Son of Poseidon, a Greek among Romans, bringer of Tsunami
"Fluctus, if you are not on your feet in the next second, I will go in there and drag you out here for a public morning spar session." Commanded Chiron
"I am rising, Doctore" replied Fluctus as he emerged from his quarters.
"I trust that you are well. Fluctus?" asked his Doctore
"As well as one can be while he is nothing more than a slave to people who hate him because the Gods decided to bless him with a different type of heritage." Replied Fluctus
"Well, I would have you remove your head from your ass and get to jogging, if you aren't finished with your laps by the time everyone else is, they will be forced to run a lap for every 3 seconds that you are behind their time."
Fluctus said and did nothing other than stare at the half horse half man being before him.
"GET TOO IT BOY" commanded Chiron
"At once, Doctore" replied Fluctus before he raced off to catch up to the group of other gladiators in training.
"You know Chiron, I like it when you put your hoof into the ass of a slave. Never fear the thought of showing them their place." Said a voice behind Chiron
"Ah, Lord Boreas. It is a pleasure like always to see you well in the morning" replied Chiron to the newcomer before addressing the master of the camp.
"Lord Castellan, the quarters are ready to be inspected and then the men will be nice and warmed up from their 15-mile run this morning."
"Chiron, you spoil a man such as myself with your ability train these boys into men. Is there any who you believe ready for the Arena? Anyone of note, that you believe is getting close to being ready? I need to know who
"Hmm, I can think of a couple who are ready to bless the grounds of the arena with blood whether it be their own or their opponents." Said Chiron while he pondered over who he could choose without being embarrassed about the selection
"Oh you, sly dog, Chiron. I knew that you could whip up this batch into battle ready gladiators in no time at all, who will it be? Travis or Connor, sons of Mercury such as myself? Or could it be one of Lord Boreas' sons? What is their names." Exclaimed a very excited Luke Castellan
"Lee Fletcher and Michael Yew" supplied Boreas.
"Is it one them, Chiron" questioned Luke
Chiron cleared his throat and said, "No, those boys are not quite there, they require at least another quarter of a year of training. I would not risk your investment in them being wasted because they were sent out too early."
"Well, then get on with it. Who is ready then? Tell me" demanded the Blond haired son of Mercury
"Well, there is Charlie Beckendorf, the son of Vulcan. But if that does not interest you, I have something that might interest you. The son of the Sea God Poseidon, is ready to bare your mark and fight in the arena"
Whatever Luke had been expecting, this was obviously not it as he stumbled back as if hit.
"I have important people coming to visit my grounds, and you would have me entertain them with a GREEK?! Have you lost your immortal mind Chiron?" questioned Luke
"Hmm, I like the idea of pitting the Greek against true and pure Roman soldiers." Said Boreas
"Hmm, you favor the idea, Lord Boreas?" asked Luke
"Yes, I do. Such an event will surely draw a large crowd. A real life Greek Demi-God in the Arena forced in a fight to the death against Rome's finest. It is a story that is as old as the country that we live in now. I am sure that the crowd would roar at the chance to see the blood of a Greek being spilt in the Arena." Replied Boreas, although it looked like he was flickering for a split second
"Then as a man of the people, I shall have it brought to live. No longer will the idea that any Greek man being equal to even the weakest of Roman men be debated. We will see the Greek beaten and slain before thousands." Said Luke as he was basically talked into the thing by his godly visitor.
"Come then, Castellan. We have much to discuss before I return to Olympus." Said Boreas as he turned and walked away with Luke by his side.
Just then, Percy followed by a group of teenaged boys raced into the area that Chiron was standing in. They were all lightly covered in sweat and dressed similarly, nothing but a well-made loincloth and gladiator boots.
"Fluctus, it looks like you managed to finish before the rest of the group. That will be double portions in food for you today. Now, everyone get changed and grab some food. We have a long day of training ahead of us. I have an announcement at the end of the training day that is very important. Now get to it before my whip gets to you." Said and then commanded Chiron.
The group of 16 teenaged boys nodded and walked over to change before they headed to the outside eatery.
"So Fluctus, any reason that you find yourself in such a rush to finish the morning jog before the rest of us?" asked Chris, a big solid teen who happened to be a son of Mercury.
"Gah, everyone knows how much I hate that name. Fluctus is Roman word for wave, it is not my name." complained Fluctus
"Nobody here will ever call you by that Greek Hero's name, so you can forget about it. You've been here for what? 9 years?" asked Chris
"Ten Years today" answered Fluctus
"Then you should know that the wish for you to be called anything other than Fluctus is nothing more than foolery. They would sooner spill your blood on the training ground than to call you anything other than a proper Roman name. The Gods above have seen that Rome was victorious in their conquest of their Greek counterparts." Butted in Travis, another son of Mercury
"Hn, then I cannot help but wonder why the Gods above do not favor either of you. For this Greek as placed your asses upon the sand more times than either of you can count." Retorted Fluctus
"Fluctus has bested Travis in 1 on 1 combat 117 times to 3 defeats. Fluctus has bested Chris in combat 51 times to 0 defeats. The records of the new crop of trainees had been sent to every lord. No need to buy a Roman who cannot best a Greek" Came a new voice away from the table.
The 3 gladiators in training looked and saw Lord Grover Underwood, a faun. He was dressed in a shiny set of armor from the waist up; an untouched and polished chest plate, arm braces that were also untouched. His lower half carried nothing but his weapon belt that carried his sword in his sheath.
"Hold your tongue faun or my blade will see it removed promptly" hissed Travis
"You cannot touch my slave, you forget your place. A faun I might be, but I am also on the War council for Senate. I am the commander of the Nature Forces. You would do well to find your tongue stilled in my presence."
Chris snarled at the half goat half man creature, but did nothing more than get up and leave, taking his half-brother Travis with him.
"You shouldn't piss them off so much, Lord Underwood." Said Fluctus as he swallowed one of his cups of food. He had already eaten the first portion of his meal, but with the double portion today, he had received a second helping of porridge and water. He was just about to start on his second bowl .
"I worry not about the miserable slaves that live in this compound." Replied Grover
"Then i cannot help but wonder why a Lord such as yourself sits in the presence of a slave such as myself." Commented Fluctus
"Please do not act the fool with me, Perseus. You have great favor among the Gods despite your unique heritage."
"My, my, Lord Underwood. You have done the taboo around here. To call me by my real name in the middle of Roman territory is an offense punishable by death."
"You'll find that when the Gods have lifted you to the level that I am on, you can get away with more and more." Said Grover as he gestured to the LORD rings on his hands and his nice armor.
"I would rather die a slave than to be a Roman dog." Spat Percy
"There is no reason to get angry at me when I am the man who comes baring gifts."
"What gift could a man who fights for a living receive from a man who does not fight period."
"You could receive the weapon of divine power, made specifically for you." Said Grover as he opened his hand and whistled a tune. A wind spirit raced by and dropped a small box in the open outstretched hand of Grover.
"The weapon is not for now, it is for the announcement that will be made in a moment. Fluctus, you will be getting a lot of visitors here in the compound shortly, do not worry. They have nothing to do with you."
"I can take care of myself, do not worry about me when the humans outside of these walls destroy all of the nature that they can find."
"We will make a roman out of you yet Fluctus." Said Grover before he walked over to talk to Chiron.
Percy growled at the 'Fluctus' jab at him by Grover but hurried to finish the last of his food before walking out onto the training grounds.
"Fluctus, grab the arm brace shield and go stand over there." Commanded Chiron pointing over to the grove in the ground.
"What of a blade to press forward on attack?" asked Percy
"Worry not Fluctus" came the words from Chiron dismissing Percy.
Knowing better than to have Chiron request something twice, Percy went over and stood at his starting point. He was given the view of the rest of the trainees and the Gods Boreas, Mercury, and Ceres watching from a balcony over the training ground. They were of course joined by the owner of the compound Luke Castellan, who at one point had been a gladiator himself, If the rumors were true. That was certainly unusual, but nothing that had not happened before.
Gods and Goddesses visited this place all of the time, it was something that they did to see how the newest crop of gladiators were coming about. Percy had been here since he was 4, training for the honor of dying in the arena. He had seen just about every God or Goddess on the council but two. Neptune or Poseidon as he was when he sired Percy and Pluto who had no reason to see any gladiator up here when sooner or later they would go visit him forever.
10 years and Percy could say that he had never seen 3 of the Council here at once, it was almost unheard of. Percy was paying them enough attention that he almost missed the entering of Chris, Travis, and Jake Mason, son of Vulcan into the training grounds.
"Fluctus, you have been given nothing more than a simple arm covering shield. The other 3 have been given their normal training blades and swords. The fight is over when one of teams are unable to continue. I expect for you all to act like true gladiators. NOW BEGIN" roared Chiron as he gave them the guidelines to the fight before commanding them to fight.
"Okay Chris and Travis, I take it back. The Gods above clearly do favor the two of you to put you in such a favorable position." Said Percy/Fluctus
"It is too late to apply tongue to ass, Fluctus. You have talked the talk for long enough, I will not allow you to talk your way out of this. I pray to the Gods that they have mercy on your soul today, because we will not." Spat Chris, his large shaking with the laughter that did not fall his mouth.
"I must correct myself, I believe that the Gods favor me, because they've allowed me to show you that no matter what aid you receive, you will remain below my foot at the end of every battle between us." Said Percy
There were no more words spoken. The 3 sword wielding trainees rushed at Percy who slid his feet apart and tried to prepare himself for the onslaught that was to come.
