Exiting out into The Leaky Cauldron Harry stumbled to the floor and a moment later he heard the floo behind him and a body was unceremoniously thrown on top of him. "Ow," Harry grunted as he felt squished against the floor.
"Oh hey, we both hate the floo, what a coincidence," Nym said as she quickly got off her husband.
"Yeah at least I went to the right place, last time I used it I ended up in Knockturn Alley," Harry rolled his shoulder to get rid of that pinching feeling from the fall.
"Afternoon Tom," Nymphadora happily greeted the bartender as she passed, Harry gave a short nod and hurried after his wife.
Once she opened the bricks, Harry was amazed at how different Diagon Alley looked when he wasn't coming during the summer for his school supplies. "Right, you've probably only been here during the school rush," Nym chuckled because after she had graduated coming to the alley was almost like it was dead but that did make getting through her shopping much easier.
"Alright first we'll make a stop at Gringotts," Nym stated as they started walking. "Gonna have to do a lot there actually."
"Such as?" Harry questioned because he figured he needed some money but what else was there to do.
Passing by the big doors of the bank. "Well first since you now know you are a fully fledged adult in the eyes of the law, we need to make sure the ministry can't try to screw you over on some technicalities to get at your land, money or family heirlooms."
"Why would they do that?" Harry looked alarmed at that being the reason for going to the bank.
"Because, if they did it to you last year then they would be trying to enforce contracts against a child. Sure dad figured out you were an adult this whole time but if any one else had gone to the Wizengamot before all this, then it would make them look bad since no one would have expected you to know that," Nymphadora answered and continued with her explanation while they stood in line to see the teller.
"But now that this tournament has happened and you are publicly an adult, anyone savvy enough could come at you to renegotiate any long standing deals your family had made and I don't think you're quite ready to tackle those kinds of talks. So it's for the best that we get all your ducks in a row. I figure it will take some time, so it's better to get it started now."
Harry nodded because that made sense, he already got surprised by two contracts in the span of a month, who knows how many more might be laying in wait.
"Hello goblin," Nymphadora nodded. "My husband and I will need access to the Potter family vault."
The beady-eyed creature looked between the two humans and Harry reached into his pocket. "I have my key right here," holding out his vault key and the goblin looked at it for a second before frowning.
"That is a standard issue key," the goblin rolled his eyes because he could see when the key was minted and even he knew the Potters had vaults older than nineteen-eighty.
"But this is the only key I have?" Harry looked at the small golden object in his hands and then to his wife.
"Then we'll need to know where the keys to the vault currently are," Nymphadora said as she figured that members of the Potter family each had one. And with how kept in the dark Harry had been growing up, not having the family key wasn't a surprise to her.
The goblin sighed and stepped off his perch and waddled out of the lobby. "Do I have more than one vault?" Harry asked Nymphadora because this was the first he had heard of anything other than vault 687 belonging to anyone in his family.
"Well yeah," Nymphadora shrugged because it looked like this might take a while. "Your parents probably made that vault for you so that when you started to grow up they could teach you how to handle your finances, you mum and dad would have had their own vaults but after they got married they might have consolidated into the main vault, but the Potters are an old family and they'd have a vault for anything not kept in their homes."
"Right," Harry said because of course his parents would have vaults and his grandparents and their parents and so on would have a vault, it wouldn't all just be a mound of coins. "And they'd have homes right, I mean where my mum and dad died wouldn't have been where everyone in my family lived."
"Not in Godric's Hollow," Nymphadora mused to herself, of course it wasn't like she knew where the other Potter properties were but she was also pretty sure most had been destroyed in the war, she'd have to ask her mum or maybe Sirius since he supposedly lived with the Potter's after running away from home.
"What's Godric's Hollow?" Harry asked because this was the first time he'd heard of a place named after one of the Hogwarts founders.
"Wait, you… oh my god of course," Nymphadora said before she put up a very narrow silencing charm around herself. And it was apparent to Harry that she was screaming and swearing a lot and he became a little worried because his wife's features were changing constantly. After two whole minutes of outrage on her part Nymphadora took a deep breath and then dropped the spell. "I'm sorry about that, but it just occurred to me that absolutely nobody bothered to take you to the most important place in your life and I'm going to turn McGonagall into a cat, stuff her in a sack and throw it into the Black Lake when we get back."
"Oh," Harry said because that was all he could say in response to what his wife just said she'd do.
The goblin returned after that and simply told the couple that all known keys to the Potter family vaults are unaccounted for having not been used in over a decade, "Likely destroyed when You-Know-Who sieged the Potter Manor."
Harry needed a moment to take in that Voldemort hadn't just killed his mum and dad, but he'd systematically targeted his family for opposing him, stealing even more that he simply did not know. Nymphadora knew that her husband was having a rough day so she took over for him. "That's alright, we'll just need new keys made and to change the locks. And to consolidate the contents of this vault," taking the key from Harry's hand and then pulling out her own. "And my vault into the main family vault."
"We will begin doing so," the goblin nodded before pulling out a sheet of parchment and a black quill. "I will need the one with the most Potter blood to sign on this line to acknowledge the creation of new keys and locks."
Harry reached out and scribbled his name quickly before wincing and seeing that his name had been carved on the back of his hand. "It's a blood quill, I'll get you some murtlap essence for that after we finish up here."
Shortly after that the newlyweds were presented with two new keys. "Great, now we can finally get you some money so you can get what I suspect you didn't even know you needed."
Entering the mine cart they shot downward into the depths of the bank and Harry felt his wife wrap her arms around him tightly on the dips and turns before they finally came to another vault, 473. "Please stand back while we ensure that the keys are functional," the goblin said and he inserted one key in, twisting it before relocking and checking with the second key.
Nothing seemed to be wrong so the door was then opened and Nymphadora was dumbstruck by what she was seeing. "Oh, oh my husband is rich, like really really rich," she gulped before looking down at a disinterested Harry.
"I guess," Harry said as he stepped forward and walked past the mountains of galleons and tables with jewels and suits of armor and other very expensive looking ornaments. Every ounce of extra wealth his family line had earned that he was seeing for the first time. "It never did me any good the last fifteen years."
Nymphadora hurried to catch up to her husband's side as he then pulled out his coin pouch and began dumping stacks of galleons into it. "But I mean, this is… you have to be a millionaire Harry."
"And I've seen the Weasley family vault in my second year, they had exactly fifty-eight sickles and one galleon to their name," Harry said as he stared around the shiny golden room. "And I would give to them each and every coin, down to the last knut in this room to have what they have for even five minutes."
Turning to look at her husband she was in awe of his declaration, so many people would kill to have this much money, to use it, to waste it, to swim in it, and he couldn't care if he was completely destitute, he only wanted the things that mattered in life. Stepping over to his side she spun him around and began to snog him so hard he had to brace himself against a table to support the both of them. "Well hubbie, I can tell you this, you don't have to give any of this away because you got yourself a family, you got me, you got mum and dad and you even got Sirius, if we can get him housebroken."
Harry chuckled because he loved, truly loved that his wife was there to lift his spirits. "Nymphadora, I love you," Harry said because even in this room of glittering gold and rare gems, she was now the most precious treasure in his life.
Nymphadora looked down at her husband and smiled back. It would seem crazy, truly ludicrous that one could fall in love so fast but Harry was making her do it. "Then it's a good thing that I love you too," Nymphadora grinned as she reached around and grabbed her husband's ass, giving it a tight squeeze. "Going to make it real easy to get your pants off later."
Groaning at being molested by his wife, Harry leaned into her chest. "Why are you so randy?"
Nymphadora shrugged simply. "I dunno, maybe I just like having a cute little hubby that I can overpower and turn into my personal sex slave."
Harry wheezed because in his mind that was the dirtiest, raunchiest thing he'd ever heard but it was just as easily the most arousing statement anyone had ever said. "Shit Nymmie," he gulped nervously as his wife had started rubbing herself against him.
"I guess after all the years of blokes just trying to keep me as their sexual conquest, it's my turn to try it out with you and my god I was not expecting it to be so addicting, I kind of get it now," Nymphadora licked her lips as she wanted to mount the boy right here among the piles of riches.
Harry started to reach up so he could undo Nymmie's blouse when a very guttural throat clearing broke the moment and the two remembered that they were standing there with a very irritated looking goblin at the entrance to the vault. "Sorry," Harry quickly said as he hurried to get back out of the vault, with his wife only a little bit behind him.
As Nymphadora was moving past a lectern she glanced over and saw the cover and quickly snatching it she put it into her robes. "He's going to let me put a collar on him when I give him this," Nymphadora bit her lip as she pictured her husband tied to the bedposts while she dominated him.
Exiting the bank, Nymphadora brought him to Madam Malkin's to get his measurements so she could order him a new wardrobe, since she'd seen his clothes when he was getting dressed and her husband needed more than his school uniforms to wear. That thankfully only took a few minutes and she grabbed him a couple simple changes of clothes for the meantime. "We got one more place to go before we head back to Hogwarts for dinner, alright?" Nymphadora said as the two of them stood in the alley after they popped into Olivander's for a few short minutes.
"Sure," Harry nodded and he hoped it wouldn't take long as he was getting very hungry since the purging potion.
"Hold on tight," Nymphadora said as she felt her husband grab on so she could apparate them out of London.
Harry didn't know where they were, but his wife seemed to know the way as she held his hand while leading him down the road. But something made Harry feel as though he'd been here before. Like if he just concentrated on long forgotten memories that it would all come back to him.
Nymphadora slowed them as Harry saw they were approaching a home that looked quite disheveled. "I felt that it was… that you'd gone too long without having been here," Nymphadora said as she motioned to a placard on a wall nearly swallowed by overgrown hedges.
"On this spot, on this night of 31 October 1981, Lily and James Potter lost their lives. Their son, Harry, remains the only wizard ever to have survived the Killing Curse. This house, invisible to Muggles, has been left in its ruined state as a monument to the Potters and as a reminder of the violence that tore apart their family," Harry read aloud as his voice quivered.
"This is the home of my parents," Harry turned and his eyes began to mist over.
Nymphadora pulled him into a tight hug, "There's more," she said as she waved her wand to reveal what was hidden from the muggles.
Harry saw as the wall shimmered before stretching from end to end writing appeared. Stepping forward Harry saw that it wasn't graffiti, it was… "People remember them." Harry's throat closed as he saw each and every person who had written something on the wall, the names of everyone who came by and gave thanks to his family for ending the war.
"I'll talk to Madam Bones, she'll be able to get you inside, it's been preserved, but we have two more places to go," Nymphadora rested a hand on Harry's shoulder and could see that he was trying to handle all these emotions.
Just a bit further down the way, they came to a park and in the center was a stone obelisk but the moment they crossed the threshold it changed to reveal statues. Walking up to the statue, Harry's chest was heaving as he saw that this was a memorial for his parents, two loving beautiful people immortalized, sitting together and in his mother's arms, was himself.
"The people never forgot you Harry," Nymphadora said as she watched her husband walk up to the statue and gently caress his mother's cheek.
She just watched him stand before the statues in silence for a few minutes before she came up to him.
"One more stop," she said and tried to put on an assuring smile but she knew that emotionally this was getting to be too much but she didn't want him to not go to the last and most important place.
Standing outside a wrought iron gate, Harry could see rows of headstones. "It's okay if you don't want to go in, I can bring you back some other time," Nymphadora said in case he wanted to stop, but he didn't respond as he stepped forward.
Nym nodded her head and took Harry to where his parents had been laid to rest. It did not take long to find the graves of James and Lily Potter. Harry looked at the two stones.
"Here lies James C. Potter, loving husband, father and friend to anyone," Harry read the first headstone before turning to his mothers. "Here lies Lily J. Potter, loving wife, mother and the most brilliant witch of her generation. They are survived by their son Harry J. Potter, who they… who they loved so much that Death itself could not steal him."
Nymphadora saw her husband collapse to his knees and let out a mournful cry. His body wracked with sobs for after all these years being given a chance to visit where his parents were buried. Her heart hurt to see Harry so vulnerable, so she kneeled next to him and pulled Harry towards her and he latched onto her body as he cried. "I'm so sorry that they weren't here to see what an amazing man you've become, I'm sorry I can't do anything to let you talk to them, and that this is all that I could do."
Harry just held his wife, she had given him something he had wanted more than anything in the world. "Nymmie, I miss my parents," Harry said after his tears dried up.
It didn't matter that Nymphadora could see that there were other people around, apparently Harry Potter coming to Godric's Hollow was noteworthy for those who lived there, but she was so thankful that no one tried to run up to him, they just watched him from a respectful distance. And it took a half hour before Harry was ready to stand.
"We can go back to Hogwarts now," Harry said through a scratchy throat.
"Let me just," Nymphadora said as she conjured some flowers to set on the headstones.
Nymphadora was surprised at the way Harry was looking at her for this. She could practically feel the love for her radiating off his body. "Let's get you some food and some rest, you've had a hell of a day. And I promise we can come back again."
"Thank you, thank you Nymphadora," Harry hiccuped as he held onto his wife so tightly.
With a snap they vanished from the graveyard and appeared outside the gates of the castle.
Dinner was already in swing so there wasn't a chance that them walking in wouldn't be noticed, nor would the state Harry was in from being picked out. But Nymphadora was focused on something else right now. "Here I'll be back to join you in a second, I just want to talk to the professors real quick," sitting him on the bench with the girls from the Gryffindor Quidditch team. She trusted that they'd be able to keep the rabble away from Harry long enough for her to do what she needed to.
"Harry, have you been crying?" Angelina said in shock because those were obvious tear stains on his cheeks.
Harry just offered a weak smile and nodded before reaching over to start filling his plate up with food.
Others at the table had so many questions but all conversations in the hall died the moment Nymphadora began screaming at those seated at the head table.
"How the FUCK dare you?" Nymphadora bellowed as she stomped over to the adults who she felt had failed her husband at every turn.
"Mrs. Po-" Minerva started to speak before the auror slammed her hands down on the table, shaking it.
"Shut up Minerva," Nymphadora interrupted. "How can any of you sit here all these years. Do you know where my husband and I came from? Do you have any guesses at all, do you care?"
Albus opened his mouth but he could see that the former student was not keen on being answered. "We just got back from Godric's Hollow. It was Harry's first time going there. He didn't even know the fucking name of the place," Nymphadora shouted and took a second to catch her breath.
"He'd never seen the house he was born in, or the memorial to his parents. For god's sake one of you could have at least taken him to St. Jerome's Graveyard. I did that. And that young man finally got to see where his parents were buried because not a single one of you ever gave a second thought to doing something for the one person who has year after year kept everyone in this castle alive."
"After everything the Potters gave to our world you couldn't have been bothered to do this one simple courtesy for him," Nymphadora said to the professors who looked down in shame. "I've heard his story, and none of you have even gone out of your way to sit down with him to tell him about his mum and dad, despite watching them grow up in these halls, or even before that," Nymphadora said as she looked at Severus who looked away.
"I don't know if it was because you never considered that he deserved to know any of this or you just didn't care but fuck you all," Nymphadora said as she stomped away in the silent hall to take a seat next to Harry and pull him into a hug.
"Sorry about getting so loud Harry," she said, giving his arm a rub and putting some more food on his plate. "You'll need to eat more for the potions mum is going to give you, fair warning they all taste awful."
"That's okay Nym," Harry tiredly responded because she was right about how drained he was feeling that he didn't care that his wife made a scene in the Great Hall. He just munched on some bread before eating his soup and filling his stomach, while Nymmie ate her own meal.
Thankfully no one came by to bother Harry after that and it was frankly the quietest meal in Hogwarts history.
Returning to their quarters Harry heard the fireplace roar and his in-laws entered through it. "We were able to get the floo set up so you will have an easier time," Andromeda said before noting her son-in-law's appearance. "Are you alright Harry?"
"Yeah, Nym just… she took me to see my parents," Harry said with a smile.
"No one even told him about Godric's Hollow," Nymphadora sadly remarked as she reached out and took Harry's hand to rub her thumb on the back of it.
"Heartless monsters," Andromeda snorted angrily. "Three years, he's been back in the magical world for three whole years and no one thought to tell him where his parents were buried. Oh I should go have words with Minerva, I cannot believe she was this thoughtless."
"You don't have to, I sort of blew up on the professors," Nymphadora said while glancing away from her mum, expecting to be chastised if her mum found out just what all she had yelled at them. "They didn't tell Harry hardly anything about his parents the entire time he's been here."
"Disgraceful, James and Lily were some of the best students to ever pass through these halls and all the teachers adored them, that they didn't take their son into consideration," Theodore shook his head and sighed. "I'm sorry son that you had to wait until now to see them."
"At least someone cared enough to think about me," Harry smiled at his wife.
"It still shouldn't have taken as long," Andromeda shook her head. "Remus was your defense professor last year, and he did not think to do that for you."
"Well he might have-" Harry stopped and sighed because he only learned at the end of last year that Professor Lupin had been friends with his father, almost as the man was walking out of the castle did he finally tell Harry of the connection he had. "I don't know why he didn't do that."
Nymphadora rubbed Harry's back. "How about we get you those potions and lay down for some sleep. You've had a pretty taxing day," offering the suggestion since she figured that her husband was emotionally exhausted by now.
Nodding his head, he downed the no less than a dozen potions that his mother-in-law had for him, and then after the couple said their goodbyes, Andromeda and Ted left through the floo.
Laying down under the sheets Harry could feel his eyelids start to get heavy. "Nym, I know I already said it but," letting out a yawn he nestled in comfortably under the blankets. "Thank you for taking me to Godric's Hollow, if you hadn't done that, I don't know when I would have gone there, or even learned of it."
Running her fingernails through her husband's unruly hair, Nymphadora let out a sigh. "Of course hubby. I have to take care of you after all," Nymphadora said softly, hearing Harry's breathing indicate that he'd fallen asleep. She leaned down and kissed the top of his head before getting more comfortable herself for the night.
