In the park Ben was still in shock at the arrival of his new partner, all while Will was trying to figure out the best way to explain the situation to the younger boy.
"Coredem, how about you and Splight go give Tristar a more detailed explanation of where they are and what exactly is happening." Will suggested as he felt that talking to Ben by himself was the best plan.
"No problem." Coredem responded as he flew over to the two Aquos Bakugan and telling them. "Come on, let's go somewhere more private to talk."
Despite a moment of hesitation, at the sight of Coredem, Tristar followed along with Splight as he clearly wanted to know more about where he now found himself.
As the three Bakugan flew up onto the roof of the café Will sat down on a bench before gesturing for Ben to sit beside him.
As the younger boy sat down he felt very confused, first of all he lost his first ever Bakugan brawl, second he came out of it with a new Bakugan, and finally his new Bakugan can talk. Needles he was very much overwhelmed.
Will could already guess what was going through Bens head and how confused he was probably feeling, but he was after unsure of what to say.
'Okay, I need to figure out how to give him the answers he needs, without telling him the complete truth, as well as encourage him after the brawl.' Will thought as his mind raced for a solution. 'I hope Coredems having an easier time.' Will thought in desperation.
"Well. Glad to see Neathians are as polite as the rumors said." Tristar said, in a sarcastic but strained tone, as the three bakugan made it up the cafés roof.
Coredem, having anticipated that kind of behaviour, turned to face Tristar efore responding.
"I am sorry for pulling you away form your new partner, but we really do need to talk about what's going on." Coredem informed her as he looked towards Splight, who was nodding along in agreement.
Tristar stared at Coredem, almost studying him, for a moment before sighing and nodding it acceptance.
"Well, Splight did quickly tell me that I shouldn't mention either Gundalia or Neathia in front of the kids, for some reason." Tristar responded as he glanced towards Splight.
Coredem looked towards Splight and nodded in recognition and gratitude for his quick thinking. After this Coredem returned to focusing on Tristar.
"That is correct. You see, only a few humans are aware of the fact that Gundalia and Neathia exist, and this is for the best." Coredem told the new arrival to earth.
"Wha-Why?" Tristar asked, genuinely curious.
"Because, just like you, every Bakugan that now calls earth their home wants nothing more to do with the war." Coredem answered simply, with Splight nodding in agreement.
This caused Tristar to immediately freeze in place, nearly falling out of the air in the process, almost as if he expected some kind of danger in response to what was just said out loud.
After a few seconds of nothing happening, Tristar finally gave his response.
"That's quite the assumption, and statement. " Tristar responded, in a noticeably more tense tone, as he stared into Coredems eyes.
Both Coredem and Splight simply sighed and slumped, as they completely expected this kind of response from him, before Coredem took a deep breath and gave his own response.
"Tristar. There's no need for you to lie. Every bakugan that you'll meet on earth is here because their wish was the same as yours, mine and Splight, to get away from the war." Coredem explained to him with complete honesty, as Splight nodded in agreement with everything he said.
This once again caused Tristar to freeze as he tried to process what he was hearing, fellow Gundalian bakugan had also come this world because they were as sick of the 'great' war a he was.
"I-I always figured the bakugan that vanished were simply dead and had passed onto a better world." Tristar said in a completely stunned tone.
"They don't die, but they do get to come here where they're free from the war." Coredem reassured him with calm and gentle tone, with Splight echoing him in his own way.
With that Tristar slowly descended until he landed of the cafés roof, with him beginning to shake.
Both Coredem and Splight immediately dropped down the his level making sure he was okay, believing Tristar to have broken down in shock.
Instead, what they found was him happily laughing to himself, and it slowly got louder as Tristar began to hop and flip around the two of them in uncontrollable joy.
"Yes! No more lying, no more pointless fighting, and no more listening to the orders of idiots! I'm free! Hahaha!" Tristar happily exclaimed as he loudly laughed.
Both Coredem and Splight were momentarily stunned by this before they began laughing along with him, both of them remembered how they felt when they realised they were free of war as well.
After nearly a full minute of laughing and some happy tears all three of the bakugan finally started to calm down as they once again floated up into the air before talking.
"Huh. What do I do now?" Tristar wondered aloud.
"Well, you do have a new partner in Ben." Coredem informed him as Splight began circling Tristar as he clearly agreed with Coredems statement.
Tristar went quiet as he thought about having another new partner. He'd never really had a proper one back on Gundalia as ge was registered as a 'difficult' bakugan that no brawler could manage, or control, for long. Mainly because he couldn't stand any of the brawlers he was partnered with for too long, but the way Splight talked about the kid, Ben he reminded himself, he wondered if partnering with him could be a good idea.
"Bakugan battles still happen on this world right?" Tristar asked, mainly for conformation on what he already knew, as he stared into Coredems eyes.
Coredem was a bit surprised by his question, but he still answered nonetheless.
"Yes. But the battles here are more of sport, competition and fun. It's actually not to dissimilar to the battle competitions Neathia had before the war." Coredem informed Phosphos.
'Interesting, that could definitely work.' Tristar thought to as he remembered hearing about the entertaining, and safe, battle competitions Neathia used to have.
"In that case I'll see if Ben can be my partner in the old fashioned Gundalian way, we'll battle." Tristar told Coredem as he embraced a bit of his more competitive Gundalian nature.
Both Coredem and Splight were baffled by this, as this was a very sudden demand from the newly arrived bakugan. However after looking at one another they realised it wasn't too surprising given the Gundalians very combat focused culture.
"So you want Will and I to go against you and Ben in a battle." Coredem clarified, to which Tristar simply nodded in conformation. "And this will help you make a decision?" He asked as he was trying to figure out his reasoning.
Now Tristar was confused, by their confusion, before he remembered that he was actually talking with two Neathian bakugan. "You see, it's an old Gundalian tradition that a battle helps test to see if partner and bakugan are compatible. I've actually gone through a few of these in the past, but none of them really worked out."
Coredem was silent as he nodded in understanding, as he now knew the real reason Tristar wanted to battle.
"Alright, let's do it then." Coredem simply said, getting a somewhat surprised look from Splight and a happy flip from Tristar, before continuing. "But us having a battlle is ultimately up to Will and Ben."
Tristar was stunned for a moment before he realised they were agreeing to a battle without their (potential) partners knowing. With that the three of them flew over to the edge of the roof and watched as Will explained the situation to Ben in a way that told him what he needed to know, without telling him too much.
"I think we should wait up here for a bit." Coredem recommended, with his two Aquos companions agreeing, as the three of them landed on the edge of the roof in order to simply sit down and wait.
As the bakugan were talking on the roof of the café Will and Ben were still sat on the bench, as Ben was still lost in thought and Will tried to think of what to say.
"I have to admit, you impressed me with how quick you picked things up during our brawl." Will said, in an attempt to both start a conversation and get Ben's attention.
This had the desired effect as Ben stopped thinking so much and turned his attention to Will.
"Really?" Ben wondered, as he thought he'd made a ton of mistakes, beofore properly responding. "But I lost, and I made so many mistakes."
Will gave a small snort of amusement and smirked as he elaborated. "Yes, you did really well for your first ever brawl. And of course you made mistakes, again, it was your first ever brawl."
Upon hearing that, Ben's face slowly turned red with embarrassment as he began to realise. 'He's right, it was my first time brawling. Of course, I made mistakes and lost.' Ben thought to himself in embarrassment.
Will's smirk turned into a full smile before he continued. "So yes, you did really well for your first time brawling. But I think we should talk about what happened after the brawl right now."
This once again succeeded in getting Ben's attention as his embarrassed blush faded and he focused on his mentor.
"Yeah. Where did Tristar come from anyway? How come he could talk? Could Coredem always talk? Why did the three of them go off to talk?" Ben rapid fired all of his questions at Will, that he was barely able to keep up with.
"Okay, okay, slow down." Will said, in a somewhat raised tone of voice, in an attempt to calm the younger boy down.
Will, once again, was able to successfully get Ben to calm down and focus on him.
"Let's just take this one question at a time." Will explained as he went over all questions he could remember Ben asking, as he began forming his answers for each of them.
"Okay so fist. Tristar came from one of the two worlds that all bakugan come from." Will began explaining, choosing his words carefully as he didn't want to tell Ben too much. "Those two worlds being known as Gundalia and Neathia, with Tristar most likely being from Gundalia."
With his answer given Will stopped for a bit as he let Ben absorb the new information, and wait for any follow-up questions.
"Gundalia and Neathia. Are those the two worlds that appeared in the sky before the cards rained down?" Ben asked for clarification.
"Uh-huh, I remember the message your mum sent said you're eleven." Will nodded with a slight smirk, before going into further detail. "Meaning you were about nine when that event happened and saw it for yourself, which is good because most of the kids I taught before you were younger and only really heard about the two worlds because of talks online."
Whilst this made Ben happy that he was right about the legendary two worlds. However he was also rather embarrassed, because Wills comment made him realise how there were kids younger than him who had more brawling experience already.
'Why did mum have to move us around so often for work.' Ben thought to himself. 'It made it impossible for me to learn form anyone.'
Upon seeing the thoughtful frown on his mentees face Will patted him on the shoulder, getting him out of his thoughts. "Don't worry. You may not be the youngest brawler I've ever taught, but you are the one that's picked things up the fastest and you may just have the most talent."
Ben was shocked by this praise before his face went hot and flush in embarrassment as he happily smiled.
Will gave his own, encouraging, smie before continuing with his answers. "Okay let's answer two questions at once. Yes, Cordem has been able to talk for as long as I've known him. Tristar is actually one of the few bakugan on earth that are able to talk using words, however evey bakugan is seemingly able to talk in their own unique energy pulse based language."
After giving his answers Will once again took another small break so that Ben could properly take in the information he gave him. Also so he could properly plan out his next answer.
Ben found that he didn't really have any questions this time, as he was just happy that Splight could always understand him.
"And, as for why they all went to talk on the roof." Will began as he thought over his answer once again. "Because Tristar is new to earth Coredem and Splight needed to tell him about where he is now, what's happening, and in Splights case who you are."
Will once again paused as Ben nodded along to his answers, and he once again convinced himself that he should tell Ben this information. 'No matter what he needs to know something at least, especially if Tristar ends up saying something by accident and he gets suspicious.' Will convinced himself.
"You see, the bakugans home worlds are in danger." Will started explaining/embellishing as Ben stopped nodding and listened. "A few years before the event that brought them here both worlds ended up in a seemingly endless battle... with unknown invaders."
After saying that Will could feel not only Ben but the three bakugan on the roof staring at him in shock and confusion.
'What?' Tristar and Splight wondered as they went over what was just said.
'Oh, Will.' Coredem thought to himself with a groan.
And whilst on the outside Will had a calm and serious look on his face, on the inside it was very different as the only thing going through Wills head was. 'Why am I so bad at lying to people?! There is no way he believed that.'
"Woah, alien invasion. Holy crap, that's insane." Ben, rather loudly, mumbled to himself. As he completely believed what Will told him.
Upon realising that the young brawlers believed the lie, the only thing that Will and the bakugan could think was. 'How?!'
'In all the time that I've known Will, this is the first time I've seen someone actually believe one of his terrible lying. By the Orb.' Coredem thought to himself in astonishment.
'This, this is the one I'm meant to partner with.' Tristar wondered, as he began questioning his decisions.
Splight simply lowered to land on the roof in embarrassment, as the only going through his mind was. 'Oh, Ben.'
"Y-Yeah... alien invasion. Real big surprise when I found out about it as well." Will managed to say, in a rather tense tone.
"So all the bakugan came here to get away from the aliens?" Ben asked, still believing what he was told.
This caused Will to relax, as he could be a bit more honest now. "That's right. Every bakugan on earth came here because they were tried of fighting all the time, and they could have more peaceful lives here."
With his explanation finished Will simply sat in silence as Ben absorbed all the new information. After a few seconds Will look up to the roof and saw the bakugan hovering by the edge, seemingly waiting for them, so he gestured for them to come down.
As the bakugan flew down they went over to their respective partners, as Will got up from the bench in order to talk more privately with Coredem.
"Hey Coredem. Good talk then?" Will asked, as he still felt nervous about his lying.
Coredem simply nodded as he answered. "Yes. He now has a good understanding of the situation, and he shouldn't say anything about the war infront of Ben."
Will let out a relieved sigh as his body relaxed due to the good news. 'Good, at least now Tristar gets a peaceful life, Ben stays ignorant to the war, and they both get a good partner.' Will thought in happiness.
"However. We may have a bit of a new issue." Coredem said with some guilt, feeling bad for ruining his partners good mood.
This immediately made Will focus on his partner. "What do yo-"
"What do you mean we need to battle?!" Ben exclaimed as he stared at Tristar in shock.
However Tristar didn't miss a beat. "It's pretty simple, we are going to battle those two." He casually told his, potential, partner as he gestured towards Will and Coredem.
The only Will and Ben could say in response to this demand was. "Huh?"
{However, whilst these discussions were happening, others within the city were getting their own answers and finding new questions.}
On the other side of the city, within a quiet apartment that had sparse furniture, a young woman sat at a desk staring at a laptop.
The young women had long grey hair, tied back into a ponytail, and golden eyes with slitted pupils. She wore grey jeans with a purple t-shirt, and a black jacket with black combat boots.
The young woman stared at the laptop in front of her, seeing an alert over a map of Bayview.
"Hmm. Interesting." The young woman said to herself as she narrowed her eyes in thought. As she focused on the screen infront of her a bakugan, that was black with green and yellow accents, rolled infront of her before opening.
"What's interesting Reyna?" The bakugan asked, in a calm and deep voice.
The young woman, Reyna, was broken out of her thoughts before looking into her bakugans eyes and answering him.
"Oh, Linehalt. I'm getting some interesting readings about a bakugan that arrived on Earth not to long ago." Reyna explained as she pointed at the screen.
This got Linehalts attention as he turned to look at the screen, though he couldn't really understanding anything he saw. 'Even after being her partner for years I still barely understand the work she does.' Linehalt though to himself as he tried to understand some of what he was seeing.
"Hmm. Reyna, please explain what's on the screen." Linehalt flatly said after a few seconds of failing to understand the information by himself.
Reyna gave a small chuckle at her partners blunt request. "Like I said the system is showing that a bakugan arrived in Bayview less than an hour ago, not too far from our location as well. And on top of that, the readings suggest that this new arrival originates from Gundalia." She explained as she went over the data for conformation.
"Really? That would make this the first arriving bakugan we can say is Gundalian." Linehalt wondered as he flew off of the desk and onto Reynas shoulder.
"Indeed it would." Reyna said as she began typing on the keyboard. "This is the fourth bakugan arrival we've detected, within Bayview, in the two months we've been here, but all of those seemed to originate from Neathia, so we couldn't confirm them as being Gundalians."
As she spoke Reyna pulled up a map of Bayview in order to get a location as to where the new bakugan appeared.
However as she worked the door of the apartment suddenly opened and someone walked in.
This new arrival was another young woman with long blonde hair and silver eyes with slitted pupils. She wore light blue jeans with a black t-shirt and a red leather jacket with brown combat boots. In her right hand, she held a cup carrier with two coffee cups.
"Hey Rey, I'm back. And I got the mocha you wanted." the young woman said as she walked over to Reyna and placed one of the cups on the desk for her.
"Thank you." Reyna said happily as she grabbed the cup and took a long drink with a content sigh. "Sindel, you are the best."
"Oh, I know." The young woman, Sindel, confidently said as she pulled up a seat next to the desk and sat down.
Suddenly, a bakugan that was dark and light red with yellow accents jumped out of Sindels jacket pocket and onto the table before opening.
"Please don't inflate her ego anymore, Reyna." The red bakugan said in a rather deep female voice.
"Hey!" Sindel exclaimed in response to her bakugans criticism.
"Rubanoid, please be nice to Sindel. You know how sensitive she is." Reyna said with a teasing smirk.
"Reyna!" Sindel once again exclaimed at her friend. As Rubanoid loudly laughed and Linehalt simply chuckled at the scene.
After a few seconds Rubanoid and Linehalt managed to calm down and stop their laughing and chuckling, all the while Reyna continued smirking, and Sindel tried to sulk but she couldn't stop herself from smirking as well.
"Alright, alright, fair enough Rubanoid." Sindel said with a sigh as she took a sip of her latte.
"Hey, I've gotta keep you a little bit humble, you know." Rubanoid told her partner with a chuckle.
As the four of them were simply talking, joking, and enjoying their drinks, Reynas laptop gave an alert.
Upon hearing the alert, Reyna refocused on her laptop as Linehalt, Sindel, and Rubanoid watched her work. A second later, they watched as Reyna picked up her coffee cup and looked at the label on it before looking back at the screen in surprise.
"Hey ya alright there, Rey?" Sindel asked in concern as Reyna rarely gets surprised.
"Yes." Reyna quickly answered as she looked between the cup and the screen once again before looking at her friend with a rather amused look. "I'm just quite surprised by this coincidence."
With that, Reyna turned the laptop to face Sindel, showing what seemed to be a map of Bayview with a highlighted spot that had information branched off from it. Upon seeing the map and information, Sindel also looked at the label of the cup in her hand before looking back at the screen with a look of shock and realisation.
On the label of both cups and the screen of the laptop was the name Sugars Café, the same café they always get the coffee and snacks from.
On the label of both cups and the screen of the laptop was the name Sugars Café, the same café they always get the coffee and snacks from.
"Well, would ya look at that." Sindel said as a large grin grew on her face. After saying that, Sindel immediately jugged down her drink until it her cup was empty.
"And my cup seems to be empty, even though I'm still pretty thirsty." Sindel continued with a slight grin before turning towards Reyna with a cocked eyebrow. "How about you, Rey?"
After a moment of confusion, Reyna caught on to her friends plan and smiled before following along as she began chugging down her mocha, although slowly, as she tried to quickly drink and enjoy her drink.
Once she was done, Reyna put her empty cup down on the desk and responded. "Oh, it seems that I'm also in need of another drink as well."
Sindels grin grew wider as she stood up from her chair and threw her empty cup into the bin, on the other side of the room, with ease. "Well, since we both need a drink, maybe we should go and get ourselves some good coffee from our favourite place." Sindel suggested with a slight tilt of her head and a happy grin.
"That sounds like a wonderful idea, Sindel." Reyna said with a slight grin of her own as she stood up from her desk before continuing. "And as luck would have it, our coffee shop is the same place that this Gundalian signal is coming from."
As they stood up, both bakugan flew up to and hivered beside their respective partners.
"Always so theatrical, aren't you." Rubanoid teased her partner as Sindel grumbled with a blush.
"Are you ready to go, Reyna?" Linehalt inquired as he patiently waited for his partner.
Just as she was about to answer, Linehalt Reynas eyed widened for a moment as she remembered something. She immediately opened one of the draws of her desk and lifted something out.
"What you got there, Rey?" Sindel asked as she saw what seemed like two transparent cards, each blank aside from a large grey 'S' in the centre of them.
"Something I've been working on that could be very useful depending on the situation we find." Reyna camly explained as she handed one of the cards to Sindel.
As she inspected the new card, Rubanoid flew around it, also curious about its purpose. "What's it do?" Rubanoid asked, bluntly.
However, it was Linehalt who, playfully, answered the question as Reynas smirk grew. "I'm afraid that's a surprise, my friend."
Rubanoid was very surprised by the playful response from the typically very serious bakugan. 'Well, well, look who's learning.' Rubanoid thought with a smirk.
'That's it, look who can't be fun now Rubanoid .' Linehalt thought as he was happy as he saw how shocked Rubanoid was by his words.
"Shall we get going then?" Reyna asked as she held her hand out for Linehalt to land on.
However, as Linehalt was about to land on her hand, Sindel interrupted them.
"No, no. Let me us it." Sindel happily said as Rubanoid landed in her hand. "This was my idea after."
Reyna simply nodded and moved to stand beside Sindel as she placed her hand on her shoulder.
"Rubanoid if you would." Sindel said to her partner as her grin grew a bit viscous at the chance of a battle. 'Maybe I'll finally get a good fight on this world.' Sindel hoped.
'We need to aquire, or at least observe, this bakugan Lady Kazarina is quite curious to see if the transportation effects bakugan taken from Gundalia in any way.' Reyna thought as she prepared herself.
As the two of them thought to themselves, and Linehalt stood on Reynas shoulder, Rubanoid began to glow red before the energy flared out from her body and bathed to entire apartment in red light As the light faded away, the apartment remained the same, except for the fact that the four occupants were gone.
On the other side of the city, in an alley next to Sugars Café there was a momentary flash of red light that faded away to reveal Reyna and Sindel with Linehalt and Rubanoid, as the light slowly faded from Rubanoids body.
"I love being able to do that, thanks Rubanoid." Sindel happily said as she smiled at her partner.
"No problem." Rubanoid proudly responded.
Being cautious, Linehalt flew up off of Reynas' shoulder and checked around the end of the alley, making sure that no one saw them.
Seeing they were in the clear Linehalt flew back over to Reyna and landed in her hand. "We're in the clear." Linehalt said with certainty.
"Thank you, but it's probably best if you stay hidden for now, Linehalt." Reyna explained as she looked at her partner as he held open her jacket so he could fly into the inner pocket.
"Understood." Linehalt said as he flew up and landed within the inner pocket with ease.
"Oh, right. Same for you, Rubanoid." Sindel told her partner." Remembering that flying and talking bakugan would draw too much attention here.
"Yeah, I know." Rubanoid said with a heavy sigh as she grumbled in her own head. 'By the Orb, I hate having to hide so much on this damn planet.'
With that Rubanoid, reluctantly, flew into the inner pocket of Sindels jacket and hid. With their partners hidden away, Reyna and Sindel begin making their way towards the cafés entrance.
'Now then, let's go meet Earths newest Gundalian deserter.' Reyna thought to herself as she wondered what kind of bakugan they would encounter.
'Please let this be fun!' Sindel exclaimed within her head as she hoped for an exciting fight to break out on their mission. 'I've been so bored since we got here.'
