The Butterfly Effect
Chapter 10
October 4th 5:32 PM
Abandoned Warehouse…
"...What?"
That was all Toji Fushiguro had to say in response to honestly one of the most baffling things he has ever heard in his time alive. This girl was asking him to teach her how to master a heavenly restriction.
Him. The guy who basically kidnapped her and has her tied up to a steel beam inside a random warehouse near the coast.
"Girl, could you repeat that? I don't think I hear you right."
Maki growled and struggled against her chain bindings, "I Said tell me how to master my restriction!"
Toji had to stifle his laughter at the situation and threw her a questioning look, "The hell makes you think you can just order me around? You know the position you are in right now right?"
Maki didn't back down at all, if anything her determined gaze turned into a vicious glare. "I don't care if I'm tied up! I…I...please teach me!" Clearly it took a lot of effort for the young woman to let the words come out of her mouth, pride letting go of its tight hold on her.
"Firstly, let's get something straight here little girl. You don't get to make any demands or requests of me, ok? Secondly, give me one reason I shouldn't just kill you right here and now, let alone tell you anything about heavenly restriction." Toji said with a firm voice, staring down at Maki.
Again Maki met his gaze with equal intensity and even more anger. "You went through all the trouble to bring me out here, killing me would just show that you wasted your time. And you should teach me because…because…we're family."
Toji actually laughed out loud at that. He laughed so hard he started wheezing. "Family?! That a fucking good joke girl. Not only are you a Zen'in that's got practically zero cursed energy, but you're a fucking woman too. So tell me how your 'family' has been treating you all your childhood?"
Maki had no response to that. Her jaw tightened and she set her glare at the concrete floor they were sitting on. This man was a Zen'in too, he had first hand experience of all the horrors that took place on clan grounds. And he was right too, all her life she had been belittled and looked down upon. Not only because she was a woman, but because she was a disgrace to the lineage of the Zen'in.
"They…they all fucking sucked, but if you're not anything like those bastards you'll help me."
"Oh really? Why is that?"
"Because you…you understand my situation, you are the only one who does…I need this."
"Don't tell me you're going to start begging, then I promise you I won't help you."
"..."
Toji continued to stare down at the girl. He was considering knocking her out again, he didn't have time to deal with her bothersome antics or hysterics. However, the more he thought about the more her words irked him, maybe it was that she was a Zen'in, maybe it was that she also was a failure in their eyes like him, maybe it was both, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't get it off his mind.
"Alright, Tell me about your restriction. I'm curious." Toji announced to Maki.
The dark green haired woman only looked at him with wide puzzled eyes for a couple seconds before beginning to stutter out a clumsy response, "W-well…I don't really know anything other than the obvious stuff. I was hoping you would tell me the other things."
Toji rolled his eyes and groaned, "You want my help and you can't even tell me anything at all?"
"N-No! It's just…do you want to know how I feel, like my body?"
"God have mercy. Sure, whatever, just tell me anything that you know about your restriction." Toji said, irritated.
Maki raised her eyes towards the ceiling of the warehouse, reflecting on what she had gathered over the course of her lifetime about her heavenly pact.
"Well, I'm a lot faster than regular people. I'm a lot stronger than normal people as well. I have pretty good senses, and my body is very durable. It also apparently heals quickly."
Toji was actually pretty surprised by the many similarities they both had. It was true after all that their situations were the same. But if that was truly the case then why was she so much weaker than him?
"I guess our situations are pretty similar, but I hate to let you down but there isn't any way to 'upgrade' or achieve a higher level of your heavenly restriction, I was born like this."
Maki released a silent gasp and her eyes went wide. She grit her teeth and leveled another harsh glare at Toji, "I can't accept that! I know our situations are the same so there has to be a reason why I'm so much weaker than you!"
"Well I guess you're shit outta luck because I don't have any answers for you."
"No! I won't accept that. You have to know something. There has to be something!" Maki repeated, face becoming more angered and worried with every word. It seemed she was trying to convince herself of these words more than she was trying to convince Toji.
"I should've kidnapped your little sister if I knew you would talk this much, god damn."
Maki laughed but it was a pitiful one, "She's my twin and she talks more than I do."
Toji's eyes widened at her response, "You're twin? Wow, you really are an unlucky girl."
Maki's glare sharpened a hundredfold, "Fuck you. Don't talk about my sister like that."
Toji began chuckling again. Once he settled down he gave her an actual genuine look of understanding. "Twins are born with their cursed energy potential and soul being split into two, each half going to each twin. You happened to be born with the restriction which should've taken all of your cursed energy, but your twin on the other hand, doesn't have that pact."
Maki's face began to grow pale. A morbid look crossed her features, as understanding dawned on her. Toji saw this reaction and shook his head with pity, "You get it now, don't you? You will never have zero cursed energy like me unless your sister, your other half, is gone."
Maki shook her head with fervent denial, she screamed loudly at him, "NO! That can't be true! That can't be true! No. You're lying!"
"You asked for my help, I gave you the answer you have been looking for all this time." Toji said as he shook his head.
Maki faced the ground, silent tears welling up in her eyes. The helplessness of her situation finally having set in. She couldn't become stronger in order to save her sister from her clan. she had reached her peak, she couldn't advance her restriction at all.
Maki choked out words as the quiet tears began to fall down her cheeks, "Fuck. This…this isn't fair. It's not fair." Her dreams, her goals, was she just supposed to give all that up now? How was she ever going to get back at her family if she couldn't get stronger?
Maki sniffled slightly and looked back up at Toji, "If I cooperate with you completely will you do one thing in return?"
"No."
Maki's glare returned, "You're a horrible person. You know that?"
"Course I do, I don't care."
"You were blessed with incredible ability and decided to become a serial killer who sold his children back to the Zen'in."
Toji looked at her with hard, stern eyes before they turned into angered ones, "Don't ever mention that in front of me again."
"That you trafficked Megumi and Tsumiki? What would their mother think of that huh?" Maki taunted with hateful eyes.
In an instant Toji had ripped her off of the chains that bound her to the steel beam, he then had her raised above the ground by her neck. "I could easily kill you right here and now. Crush your windpipe." Toji then threw her hard against the concrete floor with a loud thud. He moved the bottom of his shoe just above her skull. "I could fucking crush your head in right now, I'll leave a bloody mess of your body in this fucking building where nobody will ever find you."
Maki looked at him through the corner of her eyes, golden eyes blazing with rage, "Go to hell."
Toji then stopped. A faint whisper of a memory went through his mind, the memory of how he got the scar on his face. As he looked into Maki's eyes, what he saw in her, is what his father must've seen in him as well. Regardless of the difference in power and ability, Toji couldn't deny that this girl reminded him of his younger self. She was a failure just like him who had been scorned and mistreated, laughed at by the sorcerers who played god with their powerful techniques and gifts.
After a drawn out silence Toji sighed and went to sit back down against another of the steel beams. Maki slowly sat up, blood trailing from down her nose. They both just sat there, no words being exchanged.
They sat like that for a long time, silently glaring at each other. Neither of them are willing to be the one to talk first. Eventually Toji's will was the first one to break.
"Are they ok? Megumi and Tsumiki?" The tone of his voice was a mixture of shame yet a layer of forced apathy coated around it.
Maki kept her glare trained on him, "They are both fine, no thanks to you."
Toji nodded blankly. Satoru Gojo had helped him out in some way after all, Megumi and Tsumiki had been saved from the Zen'ins clutches thanks to him.
Toji knew he should feel some type of relief that his children were alright, but inside he couldn't help but feel angry at himself and the six eyes user. Toji had let a teenager waltz into his children's lives and be more of a parental and supporting figure than he could ever be, despite the fact that Toji never really wanted to be a father.
"I see." was all Toji said after nodding at her response.
The silence that plagued the warehouse was more deafening than any yelling they could do or any beating Toji could give Maki. The two breakers of fate just sat there, distant looks on their faces, clearly both of them deep in their own imagination and wishful thoughts.
Toji breathed in and began to speak to Maki in an almost empty and joyless voice, "Girl, the heavenly restriction shit isn't what anybody has cracked it up to be, if anything it makes life more complicated. Why do you want to become as strong as me?"
The glare Maki had been leveling at him this entire time faltered momentarily, "So that I can save my sister from our disgusting clan, and so that I can be the undoing of the Zen'in."
Toji rolled his eyes, "The saving your sister part I can understand but dedicating your life towards undoing the Zen'in is just a waste of time, don't let them be the thing that's constantly on your mind, you definitely won't get as strong as me like that."
"Easy for you to say! You don't have a sibling who is suffering because of them! I need to have this so I show them that I'm not inferior in any way despite having no cursed energy."
Toji rolled his eyes, "comparing yourself to others will get you nowhere, believe me."
Maki spat out blood on the ground. She released her glare and instead looked up somberly. "What can I do to be free? Is there really nothing that I can do?"
"You've got to get rid of that chip on your shoulder. Power, ability, freedom can't be found in others. If you want what you desire you'll have to find your own path." Toji explained this to her, he might not even fully understand the words he was giving to her but he just knew this is what he would've told his past self if he could go back.
"What path can make me as strong as you?"
"I've told you what has to happen for you to be as strong as me. You really want that?"
"God no! I'd rather die right here and now than have Mai be the one die for my sake!" Maki forcefully exclaimed.
"Then accept the strength you do have."
"That's the same as giving up."
"If that's the way you want to think about it then you'll just stay miserable."
Maki didn't know how to respond to that. It was true that the more she forced herself to ponder how to increase her restriction potency the more exhausted she felt mentally, in her drive to reach the same level as Toji she wasn't able to simply find happiness is what she had.
"How…how can I just accept being the failure with no cursed energy? How did you accept it?"
Toji sighed deeply, looking down towards the side. "I don't accept it because I know I'm far more than that. I don't need their recognition, I don't need them to affirm my strength."
Maki listened intently. Another uncomfortable silence settled in after that.
Many minutes passed before Maki spoke again.
"So what now? You have a hostage, so what do you plan to do?"
Toji breathed out tiredly, "Forget the hostage thing. Now that I think about it, I was stupid to take you instead of your sister."
Maki looked down again. "So are you going to kill me now?"
"I could but I don't need to, nor do I care to. Go ahead and leave if you want, but I'll have to warn you that you are quite a long walk from Tokyo."
"That doesn't matter, I'm not leaving. I don't care that you've told me all I need to know, I want to learn from you in any way possible. I hate how disgusting of a person you are but you are the only person who can help me right now." Maki said with determination in her voice, indicating that this was her final decision.
Toji couldn't help but laugh, "you know my reputation, you find me deplorable and yet you want to put your life at risk by following me like a lost dog?"
Maki snarled at him, "Shut up."
"Girl I'm not some role model and I ain't your dad either. Go Home, wherever that is to you."
"I said shut up. I'm not changing my mind, I know in my heart that this is the decision I have to make."
Toji rolled his eyes, "what about your boyfriend, that kid with the eye bags and black hair. Don't you want to see him?"
Maki's face turned startled and surprised at his question, her face lighting up in a blush. "H-he's not my B-boyfriend!"
"Sure sure. I've seen crazy eyes like his, only love can do that to someone."
Maki blushed harder. "H-he's just a friend. A good friend."
"Yeah yeah, you should tell him that if that's how you feel."
Maki decided not to respond to that comment. "I've made up my mind. I'm staying and learning from you or you'll just have to kill me."
Toji groaned and moved a hand up to rub one of his temples. "This is why I didn't want kids, such stubborn little fucks."
Toji could only wrack his mind for some way to get this pesky girl away.
He could kill her. But he wouldn't.
Maybe he could knock her out and just run all the way back to Tokyo and drop her off on some random bench in a park. He could even threaten her so that she had to listen.
"Girl there is no reason to stay here. I'm giving you the ability to go home to your friends and not-boyfriend. Let me make this clear, I don't want you here." Toji groaned out, attempting to express his irritation at the thought of Maki traveling and learning from him.
"So I would make you miserable? Good. All the more reason to stay."
Toji threw his head in his hands, his annoyance exacerbated. "We have already established that I can't help you. You don't have a reason to not go home."
"I don't care. Maybe you're right and you can't help me but I'm not going to let this opportunity pass me by. You are the only person who can help. If I let this chance go to waste I know my future self would never forgive me." Maki reasoned, her golden eyes beaming with purpose.
'She really is committed towards finding a way to reach a new level in her restriction, a way that doesn't involve her sister getting hurt.' Toji noticed in his head. However, this didn't mean Toji was just going to simply allow this outcome to unfold.
"Alright girl, here is what's going to happen: I'm going to knock you out. You'll wake up in a random park in Tokyo. You're going to go wherever and I'll give you a week to change your mind. If you are truly serious about this then I want you to find this same warehouse a week from now and meet me here at Dawn. If you can accomplish that then I will consider it."
Maki's expression turned shocked, but she wouldn't be given almost any more time to react before the world once again went black.
At that same time…
Tokyo Jujutsu high school, school library…
Yuuji didn't think he'd ever been a part of such an uncomfortable silence. No one was talking.
Fushiguro. Silent.
Kugisaki. Silent.
Inumaki. Silent.
Panda. Silent.
Gojo. Silent.
And Okkotsu, well he already seemed less vocal than most, but if misery had a face then Yuuji was sure he's seen it now. Maybe regret was a better word that fit his expression. Either way Yuuji was certain Okkotsu was agonizing over his failure to protect and save Zenin.
Gojo sensei looked very upset too, but it was subtle and was really only perceptible if you observed his demeanor. It was clear something was eating at his sensei.
The Kyoto students had spent the last hour receiving inspection from Ms. Ieri to make sure their injuries had been properly healed by Okkotsu.
Yuuji desperately wanted to break the freezing ice that had settled over the room but he certainly didn't want to be insensitive or rude towards the second year students or his own classmates.
Eventually someone did speak but it wasn't words that would help alleviate the grief many of the students we're internalizing.
"I'm…going to head to my room."
Those were only words that came out of Okkotsu's mouth, it seemed odd that he would leave his fellow second years and choose to isolate himself but it seemed his friends were understanding as they nodded their heads at him.
The only person who said anything to Yuuta would be their sensei Gojo. Before Yuuta could make it all the way out of the door Gojo placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Don't beat yourself up Yuuta. Believe me kid, there is no way she is gone, you know she'd have to be dragged to the afterlife kicking and screaming. We'll find her. Yuuta, it's not your fault."
Okkotsu didn't blink. He didn't speak. He made no reaction when he heard his sensei's words.
"Yes it is."
That was the only thing than the young special grade sorcerer said in response. And then he had left the room.
As time passed, Kugisaki, Inumaki, and Panda left the room. Only Yuuji, Fushiguro and Gojo remained. They each sat at their own respective table, their eyes pointed towards the craft of wood in front of them.
What surprised Yuuji the most is the fact that the first topic of conversation that came up was completely different from the issue of Zen'ins disappearance.
"Gojo, what happened with the vote two days ago? Do you know the results?" Fushiguro asked their teacher.
"Good question Megumi, in fact I was hoping to talk to you all about that. However, now I think this information should stay between us three. I'll also tell Yuuta as well, once his mind is cleared from his own grief." Gojo Responded.
"Is it bad?" Megumi asked, alarmed.
"Yes, but not in the way you think."
That seemed to leave his two students in great confusion. If the situation Gojo found himself in wasn't so infuriating then he would probably take a picture of Megumi so he could see the look on his face.
"The details of the actual vote that took place on the 2nd of October has not been completely revealed to me, though I am fairly confident that it would go in my favor. Unfortunately there was a secret second vote that I was not made aware of, this one taking place between only the higher ups and members of the Jujutsu council."
Megumi looked even more intrigued now. "What was the second vote about?"
"Well…the topic of discussion was whether or not Satoru Gojo should be exiled from the world of sorcery on the grounds of conspiracy and mutiny."
The jaws of Itadori and Fushiguro left their mouths, their eyes widening significantly.
Yuuji quickly stood up, "Sensei they can't just do that! I don't understand!"
"I agree. there is no way any of them would consider exiling their strongest asset, let alone directly charge you with any sort of crime even if you were guilty." Megumi reasoned.
Gojo appreciated his pupils' words, truly, but all it meant was that Gojo would have to explain to them the true hierarchy of political power in the jujutsu world.
"I appreciate your words. Sadly the world of sorcery is far from fair and very cruel." Now that Gojo was sure he had their attention he continued forward.
"I'm sure you two have heard of the Jujutsu higher ups and the council, you especially Megumi, however no matter which corner of this library you look there will be no mention of the puppet master who truly pulls the strings, the Director."
Megumi was beginning to think he was going to go into shock, he had studied the politics of the jujutsu world diligently over the past 2 weeks and he has never once heard of a 'Director.'
"Who is this director Gojo?"
Gojo could only shake his head, "I don't know his name, I've never seen his face. The only reason I know about him is because we've talked over the phone two or three times and because all professional sorcerers must write to him a letter of fealty and loyalty when applying for a contract as a licensed sorcerer."
Yuuji and Megumi were both astonished by that news. Fushiguro quickly aimed a pointed look at his teacher, "you're telling me that there has been this mysterious figure in the background who can call all these shots and we've never even heard of him?!"
Gojo nodded. "It used to be different. After I became a special grade and the strongest communication between sorcerers and Jujutsu politicians became more strained. It became a lot worse after I became a teacher."
"Is that because you are always going against the higher ups?" Yuuji asks.
"Yes"
Megumi listens to his teacher's words carefully, dozens of new questions forming in his head.
"Gojo, does this Director have any connection to the Zen'in clan?"
"I doubt they have any direct relation but I wouldn't be surprised if they are fond of each other."
Yuuji again couldn't sit still, he spoke up with still very noticeable confusion, "Sensei I don't understand, you can't let this person do this to you. You're sensei, you're the strongest!"
Gojo gave a slight sigh, looking at his newest student. "It's not so simple. The coats most students use while completing missions, the land where Jujutsu schools are constructed and allowed to operate, these are both products of the directors influence. Without this figure there would be no stable communication between the Japanese government and the sorcerer world."
Yuuji took a moment to process what his sensei was telling him. He had never even considered the black coat he and his companions wore, he had never given much thought to how sorcerers were able to use such a large amount of land for free to make and maintain schools such as these. It was starting to make sense why this person was so important.
If the director was to disappear what would happen? Yuuji wasn't so sure he wanted to know.
"But wait, I still don't understand what this Ditector person has to do with you being exiled." Yuuji voiced.
Gojo looked towards the side, giving the appearance that his mind was elsewhere, in reality he was thinking of the most simple way to deliver his next words.
"Megumi, Yuuji. The Director and I have been fighting a silent battle since I became a teacher. Without even being aware of it I have placed myself in opposition to him. We each have wildly different views of how the sorcery world should be run. The way he views Sorcerer society is an amalgamation of everything I despise about the occupation that we work in."
Megumi and Yuuji certainly needed some time to digest what Gojo had said to them.
after a couple moments Gojo then continued on with his words.
"How should I phrase this? I have the strength to technically do what I want but the change I truly desire to make in the world can't be accomplished through brute strength. It needs to be done within the system, but the Director has the whole thing in the palm of his hands."
Megumi began to understand the weight of the Situation. "You're saying that your hands are effectively tied behind your back? That the Director has technically already beaten you?"
Gojo gave him a serious gaze. "He would never beat me, and I'm not talking about a fight. In all facets I wouldn't let myself lose to him."
Yuuji then spoke once more, "So wait, what are you going to do sensei?"
An uncomfortable silence engulfed the old library. The flickering of candles creates an ominous atmosphere.
"I am going to speak to the director face to face. And then…I will most likely be banished from the world of sorcery. But I wouldn't worry about that, they can say whatever, take away my authority, make me a criminal to the whole world, and yet I'll still always be here for you all." Gojo stated with finality.
"So you'll still be here teaching us sensei?"
"I wouldn't say that necessarily Yuuji."
Megumi decided to be the one to clear up any remaining questions Yuuji had. "Itadori, it's likely they will place a binding vow on Gojo so he will have to leave the country or some type of measure to ensure he won't meddle in their affairs."
Gojo nodded at his black haired first-year student. "That is correct Megumi. It is likely that from here on out Kusakabe and Yaga will be your new teachers and instructors."
Yuuji sighed in sadness, the thought of Gojo being unfairly forced out of the country weighing on his mind.
"Do you have any sort of plan sensei?"
Gojo gave his usual confident smirk in an attempt to comfort and reassure his students, "Of course I do, and I already know I can trust you all to handle things without me."
Megumi frowned at Gojo, "we literally had to run for our lives this afternoon. We almost all died because we were attacked by powerful curses."
Gojo looked up towards the ceiling, his face once again serious. "You're right. If I could remain your teacher I would, but for now this is the route we are headed. I ask you two as well as all the other students to bear with me and have patience. We are heading into uncertain times and It's not fair to you all to carry the burden on such young shoulders but I believe In you all and I promise that I will eventually figure out a way around this."
The two first years listen to their teachers' words. They both realized that Gojo was right, his back was against the wall.
Yuuji looked straight as his teacher, trying to convey every ounce of respect he could towards the honored one, "We believe in you as well sensei. Don't let the Director disrespect you when you meet him in person, got that?"
Gojo chuckles and gives Yuuji a thumbs-up, "Trust me, I will get more jabs in at him then he will even throw at me."
A little while later…
The Room of Yuuta Okkotsu…
Yuuta knew he wouldn't sleep tonight.
He hardly ever got good sleep though . Tonight would be especially bad. He knew the nightmares would be vicious.
Rika's brains caked across the pavement of the road. The limp blood-soaked bodies of his friends who laid before Suguru Geto and the sight of Maki's mangled leg and her agonizing pain displayed on her face that day almost a year ago. Now his failure to save her today. It would haunt him for the rest of his life.
He felt pathetic.
He felt angry. Anger directed at himself. 8 months away from his friends so he could become powerful enough to protect them and everyone he cares about.
And after all of that he couldn't save the person he valued the most. The person who inspired him to move forward with courage in his life and reach for his aspirations. He couldn't save the woman he had fallen in love with.
Yuuta had never truly admitted it to himself until he realized he might not ever get the chance to say the words to her.
She'd probably feel weird around him though, it would probably make their friendship feel awkward after she rejects him.
But it still hurts so much to think that he might not ever get to see her smile again, her determined yet elegant features morph into a grin that could outshine the sun itself.
He might not ever get to enjoy sparring with her again even though he would always be inferior to her in technical skill with weaponry.
There were so many things he wanted more of with her. He still wanted to be near her, be around her, be with her.
Fuck he felt so pathetic. Maki would slap him right now if she saw him, lying down on his bed motionless, staring up at the fan attached to the ceiling as it cycled around on repeat.
But he felt so empty.
Yet again Yuuta felt himself relate to the struggles of his sensei. So much potential and power and yet Yuuta still felt useless, like he had failed his loved ones yet again.
Maki could talk him out of this mental slump. Her fist to his face would be just the wake-up call he needed. That sounded nice.
Yuuta had already gone over every moment he could remember from the event. He retraced every step. He spent another 30 minutes looking everywhere for Maki. When all that was left of the forest was cinders scattered for kilometers Yuuta was left with the harsh reality.
Yuuta had displaced his self-loathing on the barren wasteland, leaving a massive crater in the ground from a cursed energy infused slash from his sword.
After he had exhausted his fury there was nothing left but regret and sorrow.
He looks over at his nightstand and sees the picture of all of his classmates from his first year at Jujutsu High.
He needed to keep going. Too many people had put their heart and soul into helping him out of his depression. He owed it not only to Maki but to every single person who had accepted him as a friend, a classmate, and as a student.
Yuuta took a deep breath in, steadying his heart, trying to find a calm peaceful pace that allow him to momentarily let go of his grief and slip into a peaceful unconscious filled with comforting dreams of making his friends and teachers proud, earning the love back from his estranged family, and finding the woman who had stolen his heart.
DRIP! DRIP! DRIP!
Yuuta opened one eye, peeking towards the window.
It was raining.
Of course it would fucking rain.
Authors Notes: Chapter 10.
1.) Why does Toji let Maki Go?
- Well its complicated. Realistically Maki has the slight potential to be an eyesore for Toji, she can return to his side in a weeks time and annoy the fuck outta him or she could be a lose end that could come back to hurt Toji in the long run. Toji knows both of these are possible outcomes and yet he still chooses to let her go. This is because not only does Toji relate to the struggles that Maki is going through when it comes to the Zen'in clan, but also because this is Toji subtle looking to make up for past mistakes and regrets. This is his chance to correct the mistakes he made in his life by making sure that Maki has a chance to live and not make the same mistakes in her own life.
2.) What is Gojo Planning?
- You'll have to wait a chapter or two to find out.
3.) Yuuta's greif.
- I think this is the most important aspect to go over so I can make it clear that this isn't meant to be a character reduction of Yuuta. He isn't returning to his ways of complete self-hatred and despair, but it is meant to show that this event has had a tremendous effect on him psychologically. In the story a couple chapter ago Yuuta already had to see the result of Maki being beaten by Naoya, later venting to Gojo about how helpless he feels and now this event happens. We can see that life is really throwing a lot of curveballs at Yuuta. Despite the training he went through in Africa he still has to grow as a sorcerer and as a person in order to overcome these challenges, its all apart of his growth. Nothing will come easy, I don't make a habit of letting the characters win without strings attached.
4.) Yuuta hates rain?
- Its a reference to something Yuuta says internally in one of the earliest chapter.
5.) Will I update consistently now?
- Yes. I swear I'm telling the truth. Please believe me this time.
Please leave a review, I read every single one and it really helps with my motivation. I take positive and negative feedback.
