A/N: Guys, thank you for all the recommendations and ideas. Maybe this fic will go under restructuring? Nah. I'll keep it as it is. But the moonlit stuff are gonna be a less of a focus but it's still there.
Anyway, I got a cold.
So let's just get this done.
Suggestion magecraft. A very basic mind manipulation mystery that was taught to every apprentice mage as soon as they start learning. But for someone like Emiya Shirou, who was taught in an unorthodox way. It is a mystery far from his reach, even more so considering his nature as a magus.
But Counter Guardian EMIYA meanwhile… was forced to learn at least the minimum. There were missions where acting recklessly might cause even more destruction than actually planning things carefully. In his eons of servitude… he developed more efficient ways of killing.
He never thought that a day would come that he would use suggestion in a whole group of people. The process of adoption is a long, arduous task. Taking years or even more if you adopt a newborn. So he used bits of suggestion and memory erasure to let us say… speed up the process. EMIYA does not know why he would go to such lengths to adopt a single child.
But there was this tingling sensation at the back of his mind. Again, he searches for something… he does not realize it yet. But in gaining his freedom, he has lost something.
If a man whose sole existence was purging his own kind, stopped killing one day? What does he do now? His sins cannot be counted, the highest of his kill counts rivaling an extinction. Eons upon eons of nothing but culling. And it just stopped.
That's when his unconscious searched for another… another challenge.
…Another purpose.
'Don't worry, Tohsaka. I'll try my best from now on, too.'
A Few Weeks Later
Taking care of a child is… hard. That was the only word he could describe it with. Killing the few to preserve the many, such is the true nature of his father's dream. But what does one do to preserve a single soul? That is his dilemma.
Was he holding the baby too hard? Is the milk at the right temperature? He was not sure.
He named the child Rin. After his friend. The one who he failed due to his stupidity. Rin is just like any other child. She's normal, maybe too normal for him. His life has been filled with so many bizarre circumstances that normalcy became his new bizarre.
But enough of the retrospect. The child if now asleep and he needs to put her to her crib. He moved his legs slowly as he carried the child to his room. He could only afford a small house for the time being, so the distance between the living room and the bedroom is not that far.
He's considering buying a larger one with multiple spaces when he gets the money. He could make do by himself but having a child in such a small house would be very inconvenient.
"Good thing she's asleep… I have to go to work tomorrow." EMIYA whispered as he puts the baby down to her crib. He managed to get a job as a janitor at a hostess bar just a few blocks away. With the mess that the VIPs leave there it seems that a place like that would require his more… niche skills.
The retired guardian dragged himself to bed after making sure that the child is safe. He laid down and said his final thoughts. "I hope this is real." He spoke, eyes drifting away to sleep. He just hopes that tomorrow's ventures are successful. If not, it's his luck biting him in the ass again.
"So, you did bring Rin-chan afterall…" An old man in a suit said, sitting at his desk. He was EMIYA's new boss. He seems to be a compassionate old person. Who treats the bar's employees fairly and is a man with integrity. And he volunteered in taking care of Rin… for whatever reason.
"Are you sure about this? I don't wanna owe you any more favors." EMIYA spoke in a serious tone. God knows how much he owes the old man by now.
"Haha." The old man just chuckles. "No need to worry boyo! I had ten kids in my youth! Just one would barely even be a challenge." He said as a hearty laugh came out of his mouth. "Besides, I missed taking care of kids."
EMIYA just sighed. Palming his face. He was not the type of person to trust people easily, considering what happened to him. He did background checks very often. Mr. Takeda seems to be safe. "Alright. Don't blame me if she makes a mess."
Mr. Takeda nods. "Anyways. I heard from the girls that a VIP made a mess after being rejected yesterday. Could you take a look at that?" He asked.
"What happened this time?" EMIYA threw a disappointed look. It's always the big wigs that are messy. Last time he had to pretty much renovate a whole room.
The old man rubbed the bridge of his nose. "The usual. A city kid got ahead of himself and tried to make a move on the girls, unsurprising since it's Akane who's serving him booze. That girl tends to unknowingly seduce people… I mean it's good for business but- anyway. He got rejected and threw glass everywhere. Even broke the table. Poor lass had to run away to my office." He relayed, sighing in exhaustion.
"Hm." EMIYA grunts and nods. "Depending on the mess, you'll have to pay me extra." He truly doesn't intend anything of what he just said. But extra money is still money.
Mr. Takeda shot him a thumbs up, grinning. "As shrewd as ever, I see! I'll take care of it."
EMIYA nods once again as he turned his back and opened the door. His boss waved his hand before closing the door. The guardian sighed. How did this business survive with a person like him managing it? Anyway it was not his problem.
He has things to do. And he needs to do it fast.
Night came to the establishment as the bar got crowded with tons of guests. VIPs from the city to regular salarymen looking for a respite after a long day of office work. EMIYA was at the storage room, doing a routine check. He was registered as a janitor but Takeda actually hired him to do a bunch of things. He was paid extra of course, nothing goes past that old coot.
"Sir I am so sorry but touching the girls are strictly forbidden!" One of those jobs was-
"I paid big, you bitch!" –being an extra bouncer.
EMIYA rolled his eyes as he puts down his checklist. "Here we go again." This thing happens once every few weeks. Some bastards refuse to take a hint and chaos would ensue. Not only does it disturb the hostesses it also affects his pay, the bigger the damage the bigger the budget spent.
"Trace…on!" after projecting his bouncer uniform on top of his janitorial one. He rushed himself to the scene.
As the magus arrived. He saw a man holding a wine bottle, preparing to slam it at one of the hostesses' head. Time slowed as he dashed to stop the attack.
"Wha-!?" The drunk looked like your typical delinquent. Tanned skin, rough clothes, and dyed hair.
EMIYA curled his fist, for a split second he observed the body of the drunk. 'He has some muscle built-up… he could take a hit or two.' He thought as his fist was launched to the delinquent's jaw. The man staggered before slamming himself to the ground. Face first. '-Or not.' He cringed. Maybe he used too much force?
The archer turned his head to the victim. "You okay?" He asked, she seems pretty shaken.
The hostess nods rapidly before bowing her head to her savior. "Y-yes! Thank you Emiya-san!" She spoke, pure gratitude in her voice.
"Just doing my job." He dusts up his projected clothes. "Anyway, call the police. I gotta get back to work." He said, walking away from the scene.
Moments later. The police arrived and apprehended the man. EMIYA breathed a sigh of relief as he dismissed his clothes and returned to his janitorial duties.
Minutes passed as he cleaned the halls of the establishment. Every nook and cranny dusted off to perfection. What was the purpose of decent pay if he doesn't try hard? He was now near the door of the makeup room, where the girls fix themselves for the night ahead.
"Hey, you know Emiya right?" He heard from inside the room.
'Are they talking about me?' He thought, leaning into a pillar while only opening one eye.
"Yeah? The janitor?" The other woman answered. "What of him?" She said in a confused tone.
"What do you mean "What of him!?"" The other yelled. "Haven't you seen the guy!? I'm calling dibs!"
"What?" EMIYA's eyes widened. Audibly flinching at the statement beyond the door.
"Wait… isn't he like- married and stuff?" She rebutted her friend.
"Yeah? So what! Apparently his wife left him with that kid that Boss is taking care of. I dunno what ran into that head of hers but I think she's missing out!" The other woman replied back.
"You're on your own." The woman replied in exasperation.
"Oh don't be such a killjoy, Akane. Maybe you'll have a chance with him!" She replied with eagerness. Which made EMIYA all the more uncomfortable.
After hearing everything. EMIYA just sighed and left the door closed. He's not gonna deal with that mess.
16 Years Later, Copenhagen
It was a humid afternoon, EMIYA and the crew are still a busy as ever. Many people come by this time of the day to eat dinner after work. Students as well that just liked to hang out at this place for whatever reason.
The bell chimed as another costumer came in.
"Welcome to Copenhagen. What's your order?" Rin greeted from the cash registry. She decided to help out after school since her friends are busy with their own things.
Rin looked up and saw an old man roughly in his seventies. The girl smiled as practiced, waiting for an order.
"Ah." The old man smiled back. "Lass, can you be dear and recommend me something? It is my first time coming to this place." He spoke with a calm voice.
Rin nods. "I recommend our "Monday Dinner Special", it comes with a family-sized serving too." She relayed, it was her idea to a name the sets as they switch dishes every day of the week. That way they can save on ingredients while still deliver good food. Normally this would be a business suicide. But the regular dishes are available every day.
"Then I am getting that." He nods.
"Alright sir. You could just wait at your table." The student-turned cashier said.
"That I'd do."
A few minutes later the order was served. Rin breathed a sigh of relief as the old man paid his bill.
"Tell your father, I said hi!" He said before closing the door and leaving.
Rin tilted her head. "What?" He doesn't look like one of those magical folks that her Dad told her about. So why does he know Shirou Emiya excactly?
The young student shook her head. Just then, she looked at the name that she typed at the receipt. "Takeda Akaemon?" Why does that seem familiar to her? "Probably nothing." She shrugged. Probably an old customer.
EMIYA then opened the door at her back. "Rin, were closing early today."
Rin nods. "Okay!" This has been a long day. Maybe she'll have time for her diary after they get home?
A/N: Bad news,I got a cold and sprained my ankle. Good news, I can get an excuse to write since I don't have to do chores.
Anyway, follow and favourite. Please review too, I read every review.
Now, meaning a word I used. That I pasted from wikipedia: Hostess Clubs/Bar: In Japan, two types of bars are hostess clubs: kyabakura (キャバクラ), a portmanteau of kyabarē (キャバレー, lit. "cabaret") and kurabu (クラブ, lit. "club"). Kyabakura hostesses are known as kyabajō (キャバ嬢) (cabaret girl), and many use professional names, called "genji name" (源氏名, genji-na). They light cigarettes, provide beverages for men, offer flirtatious conversation, and sing karaoke to entertain customers. They can be seen as the modern counterpart of geishas, providing entertainment to groups of salarymen after work. The clubs also often employ a female bartender usually well-trained in mixology, and who may also be the manager or mamasan.[citation needed] Hostess clubs are distinguished from strip clubs in that there is no dancing, prostitution or nudity.
Hostesses often drink with customers each night, and alcohol problems are fairly common.[1] These problems can be the result of frequent consumption of alcohol, from which many consequences may arise. Most bars use a commission system by which hostesses receive a percentage of sales. For example, a patron purchases a ¥2000 drink for the hostess (these are usually non-alcoholic beverages like orange juice and ginger ale) and the patron has purchased the hostess's attention for the next 30–45 minutes. The hostess then splits the proceeds of the sale 50/50 with the bar. The light or no alcohol content of the drinks maximizes profits and ensures that the hostess does not become intoxicated after only a short time at work.
Next update will probably be HimeGil. Stay tuned whenever that is.
