She was in the middle of the boat snickering as Sokka, her brother, boasted about how to properly catch fish. Katara, her sister, was at the other end rolling her eyes in solidarity before she turned to begin working on her bending leaving Kallik to relax and watch the hilarious scene. She watched quietly and with awe as Katara managed to create a bubble encasing the fish in the air.

"Sokka!" Katara shouted with a smile. Kallik smiled back at the Katara's head her approval at her sister's prowess and tried to suppress a twinge of envy at it.

"Shush Katara you'll scare it," Sokka snapped and from the sounds of it licking his lips.

Kallik gave out a short whistle of disapproval which made Sokka grumble.

"Yeah sis I know it's rude," he said turning towards her completely ignoring the water bubble nearby. "But I-" he didn't finish his sentence since he was gesturing with his spear and therefore popped open the bubble splashing everyone with water and...smacking a fish on Kallik's face much to her annoyance. Her golden eyes glared at her brother as she brushed back her wet dark hair out of her face with slight short of smoke from nostrils which made Katara giggle in the background.

"Careful Sokka," Katara teased. "You'll make her annoyed and then you'll have a burnt bum as well as prematurely baked fish."

"Aw come on like Kallik would do that," Sokka brushed her off nervously looking at the irate Kallik.

"Would," Kallik whispered in her customary raspy voice. "Stop being an idiot."

"I'll tell Mom," Sokka threatened.

"Tattletale," Kallik shot back.

"Riptide!" Katara barked bringing their attention back to the canoe. The small canoe was soon buffeted by rapid tide pulling them through several large icebergs.

"Watch out for that flue! Go left! Go left Sokka!" Katara commanded. Kallik snapped her head over only to see that the tide was pulling them the said direction. She quickly pulled her paddle out and tried to readjust the heading despite that Sokka was ignoring Katara like an idiot...only to get pushed out of the canoe as it was crushed in two colliding pieces of iceberg slamming them on loose flat ice.

"Great," she grumbled brushing her still wet black hair away. Feeling her voice tiring she soon began to signed her own annoyance at the situation which was soon picked up vocally by Sokka who ended up blaming Katara's bending/

"So it's my fault Sokka?!" Katara shouted.

"Kallik agrees with me!"

"Don't use her as leverage!"

"I can too since I'm a boy and I'm right!"

"What?!"

Kallik was tempted to add her own words or signs if her voice gave out again about her brother's stupidity but she soon noticed that water around Katara soon grew agitated rather like what happened when she was around the fire. Kallik let out a sharp whistle to catch Katara's attention. Unfortunately it was a second too late and an iceberg behind her cracked and broke off upsetting the water making her wet. Sokka complained about Katara's bending prowess while Kallik glowered at her being wet or in the case of her hair soaked again. She pulled in the heat and began the arduous task of drying herself.

Ugh I hate being wet. She always aware of the irony that fact that she hated being wet and yet lived surrounded by it more or less. Well as Mom would say the spirits sometimes had a sick sense of humor.

"There's a boy in there! We need to help him!" Katara's cry drew her attention to her and looking up saw a floating boy in an iceberg that Kallik hadn't noticed which Katara was running towards to with club. Kallik immediately ran after her grumbling softly about her compassionate nature and worried about what she might unleash. She would help out since she trusted her sister but if worst came to worst she'd be on the front lines defending her sister.

"Katara! Stop!" Sokka shouted following them behind. "You don't know what it is!"

Katara ignored him and started hitting the iceberg. Kallik placed her hand and breathed in and out gathering the heat from her core and releasing it. In second it cracked open from the combination of her hitting and Kallik's melting unleashing a huge light that flashed into the sky. A giant beacon for all the animals and the village to see. As they gapped they see a boy with glowing arrow tattoos emerging from the edge of the opening looking on them.

Kallik immediately jumped in front of Katara and snarled allowing smoke from her nose and sparks from her now uncovered hands. Just you try. Sokka held up his spear and growled out a command but soon the boy...fainted. Well that was anticlimactic. He was short, bald, light skinned with pale blue arrow tattoos and an orange outfit that looked airy and soft.

Katara leaned over and held his head while Sokka attempted to bit the boy with the butt of his spear. Attempted being the opportune word since Kallik smacked his spear away. Sokka glared at Kallik who shot back a glare of her own. He backed down grumbling but kept his spear at the ready. The boy awaken and started whispering to Katara making the two step forward and her lean towards his face.

"Will you go penguin sledding with me?" The boy asked brightly.

"What?! Alright that's it! Who are you?!" Sokka asked.

"I'm..." boy hesitated before letting out an explosive sneeze that made him into the air! Kallik, Katara and Sokka watched in shock as the boy landed easily back on the icy surface with only a gust of wind and rubbing his nose.

"I'm Aang," he said with a friendly smile.

"You just sneezed and flew five feet into the air!" Sokka sputtered out.

"Really? That felt higher?"

Kallik tried to ask a question but instead coughed her throat finally giving out. She looked over exasperated at Katara and signed so her sister could translate to Aang for her: "How did you do that and why aren't you frozen?"

"What are you...Oh!"

"I'm an Airbender and I don't know why I'm not frozen!" Aang said before changing to signing excitedly much to their shock.

"How did you know that?"

"I know the Waves of the South," Aang said to Sokka's shocked question. "I travel around so I need to know how to speak and the monks told me to be prepared and respectful of others. Hey have you guys seen a flying bison?"

"Flying...oh forget it look Kallik can hear fine her voice just gives out when she uses too much," Sokka said. "And I'm Sokka." He pointed to himself. "This is Kallik. He pointed to her and then finally her sister. "And this Katara my flying sister." Katara's glare was akin to one of her smaller flames that she'd throw to make a cooking fire.

"Oh sorry," Aang looked apologetic. "I guess I got excited to actually use it. My bad."

"It's fine," Kallik answered back.

A loud bellow interrupted any other conversation they were going to have. Kallik, Sokka, Katara and Aang ran around to see...a huge six legged creature with a flipper tail, horns and a shaggy fur coat...

I guess that's a flying bison, Kallik thought to herself staring with her siblings with undisguised curiosity and awe.

"Appa!" Aang shout happily jumping up augmented by his Airbending to reach his beast. The beast looked like it was asleep so Aang tried to wake it only to be licked by Appa who was evidently feigning sleep to get a laugh out of his rider.

"Hey why don't I give you guys a ride home " Aang looked at them once he'd greeted his bison. "I mean you guys could use a lift and you've never been on a Sky Bison."

"Oh no way!" Sokka rebuffed shaking his head vigorously. "No way I'm going on that beast!"

"Oh so you have another way of getting home?" Kallik signed sarcastically with a smirk on her face. "That doesn't involve freezing to death."

"A truly wonderful thing to have more so then Bending no wait ahem...'magic water' , Katara snarked at him. Sokka who clearly had no answer just settled at glaring at them.

"Just use his tail to get up on the saddle," Aang called looking amused at Sokka who glared him as they all climbed up to the saddle.

"Alright then first time flyers prepare yourself! Appa! Yip yip!" Aang said. Clearly his volume was perpetually stuck on both cheerful and loud.Appa for his part lifted his tail and stretched his six legs and...splashed into the water. Well that was anticlimactic.

"Come on Appa! Yip yip!"

"I'm impressed," Sokka said drily as he leaned backwards to the saddle. "Truly."

"He's just tired. One night sleep and he'll be soaring in the sky, you'll see," Aang assured them give Katara a shy look...one that Kallik wasn't sure she liked but it seemed innocent enough.

"Why are you smiling at me?"

"Oh I was smiling?" Aang ducked his head while Sokka groaned irritably.

"Hey," Katara leaned forward after a period of silence. "You know being an Airbender and all...did you know the Avatar?"

"Huh? Oh no. Well I know of him but I didn't know him, sorry," Aang said shamefaced.

"Oh, I just wanted to know," Katara said disappointingly before quieting down. Kallik just settled down and watched the icebergs and animals with the silence only broken by Appa's breathing and flapping his tail for propulsion.

They arrived late in the day at almost nighttime to Wolf Cove and during that time Aang had fallen asleep. Once they'd reached the village Katara and Kallik gently picked him up and carried him to hut with Sokka leading the way. Appa it seemed was content to be outside and after coming out from the water and shaking himself walked over to clearing to get some rest.

"Kallik, Katara, Sokka," Mom looked up from her sewing grabbing her crutches and walking over to them giving them a kunik each when they entered the hut. "Welcome home. What's this?" She looked confusedly at the unconscious Aang between Kallik and Katara.

"This is Aang, he's an Airbender Mom. I swear," Katara said excitedly. Sokka rolled his eyes but did set up a sleeping area for the said Airbender quietly.

"An Airbender?!" Mom looked shocked.

"We saw it Mom," Kallik signed. "He flew in the air."

"Yeaaaaah," Sokka confirmed with long yawn making Mom laugh.

"Come have some dinner and then we'll speak more to this Airbender in the morning," she said as she pulled out the pot for stewing. "Katara gather the ingredients for food. I've got Kallik's medicine ready. Kallik please start the fire. Sokka bring out the eating utensils."

They all nodded and went to their tasks. It was so routine at this point they could do it in their sleep. In what felt like no time they'd set out eatery and were quietly eating dinner with Gran-Gran and Mom. Kallik took her medicine before eating so the food would go down easier with eating. After they were done Mom shooed them away from regular cleanup and motioned towards their sleeping bags in their corners. Kallik noted with amusement that Sokka had placed Aang in his corner the furtherest from Katara and Kallik. Katara raised an eyebrow at the arrangement but Sokka didn't say anything or signed anything so she received no answer. Kallik gave her a squeeze which made her look at her.

"He's just being a dum-dum. Let him ahem "protect us" it'll make him feel better. Now let's get to bed," Kallik signed with a small smirk that Sokka dubbed the "tiger shark look" which promised there'd be teasing for this later. She was absolutely delighted by the name even if Katara complained about it looking like she was going to eat them. Katara rolled her but signed: "You're such a jokester. Now let's go to sleep."
