A few days passed, and there was yet to be a word back on Loki. Normally, he would illusion himself back home, but she felt something was wrong. Steve and Bucky tried their best to keep her mind distracted when they received a call from Nat and Bruce; noticing the seriousness on Steve's face when he took the call, she knew it wasn't good.
"Wanda and Vision were attacked near their home in Scotland." Desi frowned as she stood up, "What happened?" she asked carefully. "They have some information, but we must leave now- it's serious." Steve told her.
"Okay, let me-"
"You should stay here with the kids." Bucky insisted, but she became enraged. "Like hell I am; Wanda and Vision are my friends." she stated, but Steve took a deep breath. "He's right, it would be best." Steve added. Destiny opened her mouth when Bucky cradled her cheek, making her look into his eyes, "If something happens, one of us should be here." he told her, hoping she understood. She sighed and nodded reluctantly.
"Okay, but take Astros, he can get you wherever you need to go," Desi told them, "just stay safe, both of you."
"We will; I love you, doll." Bucky said as he embraced her, giving her a chaste kiss. "Love you." She whispered before he pulled away.
Steve took her in his arms, giving her a chaste kiss, "Don't do anything dumb while I'm gone."
"I promise to try. I'll invite Wade and Lemi over," Desi said. "I love you."
"I love you too." He told her before looking back to Bucky. The two friends left together, but Destiny couldn't shake the ominous feeling that something was wrong.
?
Steve led his team to help Wanda and Vision, but the female alien looked at them in hatred as the enemy lay on the floor. "We don't want to kill you, but we will if we have to." Natasha told them, but the alien smirked. "You won't get the chance to," she spoke, looking to the two super soldiers, "I hope the daughter of Eir is easier, the mother of your children. My regards."
Steve tried to stop her from leaving, but the duo had disappeared just as quickly as they had arrived."Shit, we need to go. Now." Bucky stated, but Sam grabbed him. "It took us hours to get here. We won't make it in time," Sam said, only pissing off Bucky more, "We need to get Wanda and Vision back with us, Desi can help him."
"I'll call Pietro. He was still at the compound." Wanda told him, but Nat was already pulling out her phone. "I've got it; let's get out of here. Fast." she said, worrying about the children.
?
"So all those little horn dogs left you, huh? " Wade chimed in as Vanessa and Lemi played with the kids, whisking up a beer for himself. Destiny was pacing as she worried about Asmund; he still had not returned, and Loki had not yet. "I'm sure the boys are fine." Vanessa said, but Destiny couldn't help but feel something was wrong.
"You're right, but I can't shake the feeling is off, you know? I don't like it." Destiny admitted, making Wade sigh, "You have that hocus pocus thing going for you. It's so creepy how accurate that is." Wade stated. "He's right, you know." Vanessa added. "When the others return, we can look for them together. Maybe the Asgardians know something?" Lemi said, making her nod. "You're right." she agreed.
Destiny heard a commotion outside. Just as she was about to respond, she ran out without a second thought. When Frigga appeared in front of her with her own guards, hearing her door open behind her, her fears came to life. "Mother," Destiny stated, bowing her head to her respectfully. "I'm afraid my visit is not a social one. We have lost contact with Thor's ship…it's online, but no response." Friga told her, approaching her as she gripped onto her arms. Her heart dropped, tears in her eyes, but she refused to accept the worst situation. "I'll go, just point me where." she stated.
"If you go, no one will protect you up there." Frigga stated, warning her.
"I am aware, but Loki was with him; he's the father to my children and the love of my life. Like hell, I am going to stand by and accept that. I'm tired of being told you stay here and wait; I'll find a way myself." Desi spoke out in frustration. "Take Astros," Frigga told her with a smile, "he will guide you."
"Thank you, mother," Desi said with appreciation, giving her a hug.
"I'll go with you, Rapunzel."
Destiny looked back over to Deadpool, who handed Sarah to his wife. "It's been a while since we did a mission together. I miss our special time, didn't you?" he added. "I don't want to leave all the kids with Vanessa and Lemi. You should really stay here." she told him. "No, take him. I know you would do the same for him. Just take care of him for me, will you?" Vanessa asked.
"I will if you guys look after my kids?" Destiny asked.
"We can take them to my apartment in the meantime. Be safe," Lemi told her, giving her a hug. "I can't stop you, but stay safe for all our sakes." Frigga advised her, cracking a smile for her sake. "I will, thank you, Mother, I love you," Desi said, bowing before she left. "And I you." she whispered, proud of the woman she'd become.
"Fuck yeah, let's go!"
Taking Astros to the ship, Deadpool and Destiny found the ship in disarray, but the smell of battle was in the air. Astros stayed behind her as Desi dug deeper into the boat, pulling out Mammen. She gasped as she got closer to the center of the ship, where she saw bodies lying all around her, but her heart broke when she saw Loki lying dead on the floor.
"NOOOO!"
Desi scrambled to his side, breaking down as she placed a hand on his face, cold to the touch. She saw the bruises on his neck, and she rested her head on his chest, clinging to his body tightly as she wept.
"Damn, that's- this is really fuckin' bad." Deadpool stated, unsure what to say. He had never seen her so distraught. When they first met, she thought of enemies turned lovers, the way he made her feel accepted, the first one to do so. Loki lowered his walls only for her and was a wonderful father and lover to her and their children, even when the other kids were not his own blood.
"M-Mom?"
Destiny looked back. Her eyes widened when she saw her son Asmund standing there. "Honey?" Asmund ran into her arms, crying into her shoulder as he clung to her. She felt a nudge on her side and looked to see Astros nudging against her, giving the little boy affection as well. "Daddy told me to hide, so I did. I'm so sorry, I should've listened..." Asmund cried again, Wade kneeling beside him as he rubbed his back.
"It's okay, sweetie. I'm glad you're safe; you listened to him well." Destiny told him, growing annoyed as Astros began to nudge her more aggressively. "Leave me alone, Astros." Desi whispered, but Astros continued to nudge her, his body glowing, his sunburst emblem beaming brighter above all else. Desi sat up, her mind going to when Frigga spoke to her back in Asgard: "It's a starburst. It represents the stars and suns in the sky, the beginning and the end."
"Beginning and end…end and beginning." Desi wiped her tears as she looked down painfully at Loki. "What are you thinking?" Wade asked her, Asmund leaning back against him as they observed curiously. Frigga had once told her that her mother, Lady Eir, had been able to revive her; maybe she could do the same; what else did she have to lose now?
Desi took a shaky, deep breath, carefully placing her hands on his face as she rested her head against his. Thoughts of their life together, running from danger, snuggling together, playing with their child, the way he kissed her preciously. His smug look whenever he was able to piss off Bucky…
"Come back to me," Desi whispered, her whole body glowing as the room lit up, consumed by her power. Asmund watched in awe, mesmerized when he saw his mother's eyes glow white, her white hair lifting into the air almost angelically. He had never seen mother in such a way.
Loki gasped, jolting Destiny as he began to cough violently. She looked around the room when she saw the people around her suddenly brought back to life. She chuckled in disbelief before looking back down to Loki.
"Darling…" she cried as she cradled his face, looking over him in disbelief.
"Darling, look at me." Loki spoke desperately, cradling her face as she took in his face. "You were dead…" Desi could barely say the words, unable to stop the tears and sobbing.
"I'm sorry, darling. Forgive me…" Loki spoke, pulling her into a rough kiss.
He returned to life because of her, cherishing her only that much more. When he was dying, all he could think of was her kisses, her soft touches; never again would the God of Mischief do this again to her, he swore to himself.
"D-Daddy?"
Asmund ran to his father, hugging him tightly as he was relieved to see him alive. "No need to fret, young one. I'm alright," Loki assured him, but he could see his son was still distraught, "You did good hiding for me, alright?"
"Only because mommy saved you!" Asmund stated, "Do you know how amazing she was? She was glowing and everything." Loki chuckled, "Yes, your mother is a glorious woman." Loki stated, looking over to her. Reality hit him when he saw the remaining people onboard, looking back over his eyes. "Are you hurt? Did he find you?" Loki asked.
"Who?" Desi asked, wanting to know who was responsible for this.
"Thanos is on Earth," Desi and Loki looked over Heimdall, who was helping people stand, "in Wakanda, against your friends. He means to end life on Earth."
"Like hell, he will!" Wade chimed in.
"Where is Thor? He was supposed to be with you." Desi told him, noticing he was missing. "He's on Earth as well. He's fighting against Thanos." Heimdall informed them. "I'll go with him. You help get these people back to New Asgard." Loki told Desi but saw the anger quickly on her face.
"Like hell, I am. You were just dead! I'm going too." Desi said as Loki stood up, helping her onto her feet. "I'll take the people on the spare ship onboard. You both take this one; it won't last as long," Heimdall spoke, "they are on Wakanda."
Desi looked hesitantly to Loki, "You're a good pilot, right?"
"Not really, you?"
"First time."
"Well, at least we'll make a grand entrance, darling."
Desi chuckled, "I adore you, my Mischief."
"Oh, can I come?" Asmund asked, but Heimdall grabbed his arm as his parents stood. "You will be coming with me. Your parents must focus on the battle at hand." Heimdall warned him.
"But-"
"Hey, I'll look out for them for you, okay? No need to get pouty face about this kind of thing." Wade tried to reassure the kid, but he could merely nod. "I have a bigger mission for you, okay?" Destiny asked of him, kneeling before him, "Watch your brother and sister for me until I get back. And don't forget the pups too. Can you do that for me?" she asked. "I will, mom. I promise." Asmund stated before hugging his mother one last time.
"Good, I love you."
"I love you, mom and dad." Asmund stated, Loki rubbing his back as his son gave him a hug as well. "We must go now." Heimdall stated, pulling their son with him as they left the trio alone.
"Well, let's fly this bitch!" Wade shouted, making her chuckle.
"Just like old times."
On Wakanda, it was pure chaos when Thor arrived; he wanted Thanos's head for the loss of Loki. As the team scoured the area searching for Vision's elusive mind stone, a sudden commotion erupted when a massive ship descended from the sky and touched down with a thunderous impact. The previously serene atmosphere was replaced by chaos and confusion as the team struggled to regain composure and assess the situation. "What the hell…?" Pietro whispered when Bucky aimed at it when his heart dropped for a split second.
"It's...Loki and Desi with Wade."
"Are you sure?" Steve questioned in the comms.
"Yes, she's piloting the damn thing!" Bucky shouted.
"Aim for that purple man!" Loki shouted, the team listening through the comms. "Got it, brace for impact!" Desi shouted, pivoting onto the ship as best she could. Bucky and Steve watched the boat in alarm as they crashed near Thanos. The enemy ship crashed into them and landed nearby. Smoke emanated from it, Thanos flashing a smug look when he saw three figures appear from the smoke. Loki, Wade, and Desi walked out with their weapons in their hands, Destiny in the armor Tony made her, the tro protected by Destiny's protective dome, as they came out of the fire.
"Brother…" Thor scoffed in disbelief.
"It's her…" Thanos whispered, his agents warning about her and her ability. She could heal anyone who defeated the other-worldly creature and clearly brought Loki back to life. "KILL THAT WOMAN!" Thanos yelled as enemies charged toward them. "Aw shit!" Desi yelled as she cast a shield, throwing it at the enemies. Bucky had come to Destiny to help protect her with Loki as Wade ascended into the chaos, and Steve focused on Thanos. Still, it was fruitless when Wanda was thrown back. Destiny made her way to Vision and threw her barrier around them, protecting him from Thanos. Thanos had managed to break the field around before throwing her back, Bucky and Loki catching her as Thanos took the stone from Vision.
Bucky held her up, his arm secured around her waist. When he snapped his fingers, people began to dust around them. Loki panicked when Thor and Steve looked at them, Destiny and Bucky falling onto her knees as she felt herself fading.
"Bucky…" Desi panicked, clinging onto his hand as she was laid back in his arms. Others began to fade around them as he faded into dust around her. "No, no, no, no, no," Loki chanted, coming to her side as Steve and Wade ran over to her. "I'm scared, I'm so scared." Destiny whimpered, looking over her friends and loved ones once more.
"I love you guys. Tell the kids for me, okay?" she said, crying with a weak smile as she faded into dust next to Bucky's. Steve teared up as she slowly disappeared; Loki broke as her hands dusted in his. Wade was just as shaken, but what hurt was when Loki's scream of agony erupted in the air; her Mammen sword was abandoned on the floor.
?
When Tony returned from space, Steve felt the pain of loss again when he saw Tony's weak form.
"I lost the kid…I couldn't stop him." Tony spoke ever so softly.
"Neither could I," Steve told him.
Tony's heart broke at the thought of…
"Is, uh…"
Pepper came and sobbed as she embraced him, Tony kissing her cheek as he whispered, 'Thank God'. "It's okay…" Tony assured her, but Pepper shook her head, still crying. "We lost Desi, too." Pepper told him. Tony's heart broke, fighting the emotions as he looked at Steve. Steve teared up, the loss still affecting him. The only thing that was holding him together was their daughter.
"Let's get inside, yes? Everything can be explained." Pietro spoke, wanting to avoid another emotional episode, the loss of Wanda still on his mind.
Tony was in disarray when he saw the numbers and the pictures of Peter, Destiny, and many others on the screen with various other familiar faces. Still, at the end of the day, they were able to find and kill Thanos. The glove was destroyed; they could do nothing to return them, but no one was the same.
When Steve and Loki returned home, the kids refused to believe their mother, and Bucky was gone. They slept in their parent's bed for the first year, but even now, they continue to miss them. In his eyes, Loki had gone mad with a new vendetta, leaving from time to time to bring back his wife and Bucky after the Avenger's gave up.
Steve rarely left home, going to counselor meetings with Bucky occasionally. Time had come and gone, and her scent was nearly gone after five years, but Steve wished he could have her back. He swore that if she returned, he'd spend the rest of his days beside her and their child. No important missions, no emergencies; he regretted not having enough time with her.
Jamie began to ask questions about his mother and father and asked Tony to send him videos of her and Bucky. Wade had come to deliver to the family, bringing Vanessa and their daughter Allison to spend time with Destiny's kids. Steve smiled sadly, thrown down memory lane when they watched the videos. Thankfully, Loki had come home to see her in action once more.
Seeing her in action with Deadpool as Archangel, from her fight back against Malekith, where she almost died. Seeing in her actions and her witty comebacks, even in the battle against Ultron, the men were proud when their kids made 'oooh' noises in awe of their mother. Followed by that were videos of Bucky's fights, some even with him fighting alongside Destiny. Chip and Chewy both whimper, hearing their owner's voices. Jamie had stood up, walking up to Loki with a determined look on his face.
"I want to fight like mommy and daddy. Can we train?" he stated. "When you get older, okay?" Loki assured him, but Jamie made an angry face. "No, promise me!" Jamie stated. "How about we do that together, hmm?" Steve asked him, his daughter Sarah taking Jamie's hand. "I'll
help, too." she swore.
Steve would take the kids to the compound to visit Nat, the only Avenger other than Pietro, who served for rumors and whispers. That was when Scott Lang came around, surprising everyone when he came forward with the suggestion of time travel, a chance to undo what Thanos did. After calling Loki to return, Steve took Nat and Scott with him to ask for Tony's help when they saw a little girl in Tony's arms.
"Daddy, who are they?" The little girl asked.
"They're old friends…go to your mom while I talk to them, okay?" Tony asked of her as he put her on her feet. "Okay, Dad." The little girl said with a smile before running towards her mom. Tony walked back outside the home when he saw Nat smile at him. "Cute girl, what's her name?" Nat asked. "Morgan…Morgan Destiny Stark," Tony said, Steve smiling sadly when he heard his wife's name, "what brings you guys here?"
?
A time heist? That was laughable to Tony; the idea was just as silly as it sounded even after they left. But the more he thought of it, the more his mind wondered what was impossible. After analyzing the probability and talking to Pepper, he knew what to do.
He went back to Captain.
"Why are you here?"
Loki had only just come to the compound with the kids when he saw Lemi squaring up on a familiar face, and he chuckled darkly. "Cole Montoya. You dare show your face here after all these years?" he spat, the anger returning from when he last saw him. "Is it true? You might have found a way to bring them all back?" Cole asked, the team walking in. "It's possible, but we're going to try," Lemi told him. "Let me help." Cole implored, but Lemi scoffed. "Why? So you can make sure she doesn't come back?" he asked, but Cole frowned. "It's more to apologize. I feel...horrible for treating her the way that I did." Cole confessed.
"We don't have all day. We need to go now. Let's go, you two." Nat stated, annoyed about him there. The team had gotten back together, suited up, and prepared for their trip back to the past to gather the timestones when Bruce realized there was not enough for everyone to return and help.
"So, who's staying behind?" Nat asked.
"Loki will have to stay behind; he was in prison then. If we go back now, Loki could ruin the timeline." Thor suggested. "Fine, I'll wait here," Loki grumbled, agreeing with the logic. "I'll stay with him and watch the kids," Nat suggested. "I'll stay as well if there's any trouble," Clint stated, Pietro, sighing. "I should, too, take the kids away from here," Pietro stated, making TOny roll his eyes.
"Why come then? And who brought the kids?" Tony stated, Deadpool waving happily. "Guilty, of course! They wanted to be here in case their mother returned." he chimed. "We'll go then." Cole stated, taking Lemi's arm. "Fine, but we need to go now. We only get this one chance. Let's head out." Steve said, moving things along as he activated his helmet.
?
When Lemi and Cole arrived at Vormir, neither were prepared for what Red Skull had explained to them what was asked of them. What it took to bring everyone back. A soul for a soul.
"Tell Destiny I'm sorry for me, will you?" Cole stated before running towards the cliff. Lemi fought him, trying to beat him there first, but Cole had managed to fall off the cliff, Lemi grabbing his hand before he could disappear.
"You can tell her yourself, brother," Lemi stated, trying to bring him up, but COle became dead weight, refusing to budge. "You've been a good brother to both of us," Cole said, Lemi tearing up as he struggled to save his brother. "No, don't do this man. Please."
"It's okay, take care of her for me, yeah? And our niece and nephews?" Cole said, smiling at him one last time before he slipped from his grasp. Lemi watched as his brother sacrificed himself.
When they returned, he mourned his loss, but he could only watch as Bruce snapped his fingers. When the compound was attacked, Jamie created a barrier around him and his siblings. But chaos had ensued. Was his mom and dad back?
?
Desi gasped as she felt herself awaken, panting heavily as she looked around herself. Bucky saw her and blinked before he smirked, rolling over her and roughly kissing her. "You're alive," Desi whispered, crying as she kissed him again, gripping the back of each other's heads with a fistful of hair.
"How are we both…" Bucky couldn't even muster the words, pulling her up on her feet with him. "There you two are." Desi looked over and saw Strange approaching her with Astros beside him, Peter's eyes red from wanting to cry.
"Peter…"
Desi hugged him tightly, both sobbing as they were both alive.
"I'm glad you're safe, Des…"
"You're here…you're safe too." Desi chuckled when Astros pushed his head against hers, hugging him as well. "I'm here now, I'm sorry."
"We need to go," Strange said as he opened the portal, "We are fighting Thanos. Time to put an end to this." Desi nodded as she climbed onto Astros with Bucky behind her.
"We'll come with you."
Desi looked back to see Sam, Wanda, and others from Wakanda walking towards them. "I don't know how bad it is, but Astros, protect yourself and our family."
"What?" Bucky questioned, offering his hand to Peter. Peter hesitated, but Bucky holstered the kid behind him on Astros, preparing for take-off. "Astros can cast a shield over you, just like I can." Desi told him before they walked through the portal.
?
"On your left."
Steve slowly turned when he heard Sam's voice. Thor, Tony, and Loki were smiling in disbelief when they saw their friends and allies entering the portal. Pepper arrived in her Rescue armor, but they smiled even more when Desi flew through with Astros, Bucky, and Peter. Peter swung off onto the ground as Loki came to stand by his children. Loki smirked; his heart and adrenaline pumped up; their beloved was back. Steve smiled, his wife alive on her mount, with a fierce look, ready to fight.
"Mom? Hey, it's mom!" Sarah shouted, pulling on Jamie and Asmund, who were joyfully hugging each other.
"AVENGERS…..ASSEMBLE!"
Everyone charged as Peter webbed off the mount, Bucky covering his wife as he began to fire towards the enemy. Destiny called her shield and threw it randomly. She swept towards the ground, striking the enemy as Bucky slid down as they landed, fighting beside Rocket. Desi saw Tony on his back as Peter pulled the enemy back. Desi roared, jumping on the enemy and slaying him as Tony stood up with Peter's help. Tony hugged Peter, and Desi smiled as she approached them.
Tony pulled away from Peter, glad to see him alive, but he was just as emotional when he saw Desi. She teared up, smiling happily as he hugged her as well. "I'm so glad you're back, kid, I…wasn't ready to say goodbye." Tony told her.
"Me too, Sir Tony. I'm so glad you're safe." She whispered.
Desi flew off as Astros stayed behind with Bucky, sweeping down on the enemies, slaying each enemy coming her way when she was knocked back by an enemy. She coughed hysterically as she crawled onto her knees when the enemy hovered over her. Desi cast her dome, protecting herself when daggers came through the enemy's chest, alarming Desi as the enemy fell.
Looking up, Desi let out a breath of relief when Loki kneeled before her, wrapping her arms around his neck as he pulled her into a sensual kiss. Loki buried his nose into her neck, taking in her scent and presence he didn't want to live without anymore.
"I've missed you, darling. It was like living without air." Loki whispered, and it broke Desi's heart. "I'm so sorry, my love." Desi whispered, kissing his cheek but reluctantly releasing him as the enemies approached them.
"Will you honor me in this battle, darling?" Loki teased, making Desi giggle. "You do know how to please a girl. Reminds me of our first dance." Desi teased, throwing him a wink before they charged at the oncoming enemies together.
The fight was getting more intense, Desi fighting her way through when she saw Steve, but an enemy came from behind him. She wasted no time flying to him, slaying the enemy as Steve turned around, watching as the enemy fell as Destiny removed her sword.
"I want a divorce…I can't believe you shaved your beard!" Desi teased. Steve smiled as he pulled her into a tight embrace, feeling a completion he hadn't felt since five years ago. Her scent in his nose, her voice soothed him in ways she would never know.
"Forgive me, it was attracting a lot of women; none of them were you." Steve jested, missing her humor. "I'll allow it this one," Desi said, chuckling before she pulled him into a quick, sensual kiss, "I love you."
"I love you too, sweetheart. Stay safe for me, okay?"
"I will if you will, no heroics."
"I will, I promise." Steve swore before they charged forward.
Desi continued to fight beside him, Loki and Bucky staying close to her when the enemy began to fire from the sky. Astros landed beside her, neighing loudly, her eyes widening when she saw three children on the horse. Wait...
"Mom!" Sarah slid off the horse, running into her mother's leg. Destiny cried, kneeling down to pull the little girl into her arms. "Sarah, my little girl..." she exclaimed. She had grown so much. How long was she gone for? She was overwhelmed with hugs and hugged her children when she got a good look at them. Jamie was tearing up but had a hand on his sister. No doubt he looked over her protectively. Asmund seemed as serious as his father, but a small smile appeared on his face when she smiled at him.
"I'm sorry I took so long, but thank you for looking after them." she told him as Jamie hugged his father. "You took too long." Asmund told her, mad at her for leaving but he knew it wasn't her fault. "This will be the last time, okay? No more fighting after this." she told him.
"Promise?"
"Promise."
Bucky held his son, but he knew the battlefield wasn't a place for a reunion. "I'm sorry I missed you growing up," he told his son, "but we will have time to catch up afterward, alright?"
"Yes, father."
"Good," Bucky stated, putting his son on Astros, "stay with Astros; he will keep you out of harm's reach!" Desi heard a shift in the sky and saw the enemy ships aimed at them. She cast a giant shield over her, expanding it as much as possible. "On me!" Desi yelled as the firing shots rained from the sky.
Desi grunted, struggling to keep it up as it felt endless. She yelled as she fought through it; her family could only wait as the firing stopped over them, and she quickly dropped her shield.
"Go, go, go!" Desi yelled as they charged forward, flying off as she heard Peter through the comms. "I got this, I got this…Okay, I don't get this! Help, someone, help!" Peter shouted. Desi caught him from the sky but quickly crashed as firing overtook him.
"Peter!" Desi shouted, casting another protective dome over them as firing approached them. Peter clung onto the gauntlet as Captain Marvel came onto the field, destroying the ship that had previously been fired at them.
Everyone watched in awe as she destroyed the ship flawlessly when she landed in front of them.
"H-Hi, I'm Peter Parker."
"Hello, Peter Parker. You got something for me?" Marvel asked as Desi came to stand beside her. He stood but swallowed hard when he handed Marvel the glove, "I don't know how you're going to get through all that." He said, noticing the enemy army coming towards them.
"Don't worry, she's got help." Desi said as her body glowed white, casting her shield and sword again, the women surrounding Marvel. "Get them all, my love!" Loki shouted through Desi's comms, hearing her shout as she threw her shield, charging through the enemies with her sword. Thanos's shout could be heard through the sky, and the team watched; Desi was alarmed when she saw Tony fighting Thanos all alone.
"NO!" Desi shouted as she ran towards him when Thanos snapped his fingers. The team watched as Tony's arm glowed; he had the stones.
"I…am…Iron Man." Tony stated before he snapped his fingers.
Thanos's army began to dust one by one, blipping away before them. Desi watched in horror, tears forming on her face when she saw Tony struggle to stand before he fell back, sitting down against the debris behind him.
Bucky came to Destiny on Astros, helping her up as they flew to Tony; it didn't look good. Desi sobbed when she saw Peter crying, hearing Pepper's words breaking her.
"You can rest now."
Desi sobbed uncontrollably as Bucky pulled her into a comforting hug; he was like a father to her and knew she was hurting. Desi forced herself away, refusing to accept this fate for him; he didn't deserve this. Desi marched towards Tony's corpse, remembering the feeling all too well when she saw Loki's death.
Pepper, who was mourning already, stopped Desi.
"Desi, he's gone." Pepper told her, cupping Desi's left cheek as to affirm his death, but Desi shook his head. She froze, seeing the memory of Morgan being born, a memory Pepper was clinging to. She watched Tony hold the baby for the first time, a gentle smile on his face. "Pepper, please, let me try. If I can't, I'll accept it, but please. Please." Desi sobbed, pleading with her.
Pepper searched Desi's eyes. She didn't want to have any hope, but she slowly nodded, hoping this would give Desi some type of acceptance. Desi smiled gratefully to her, the team observing as Destiny's body glowed white, her eyes just as white. She took a deep breath as she thought of her most memorable moment with Tony.
"You've been good to Pepper and me since the beginning, and you're a good kid, Angel. I'd be happy to share my last name with you. And more than that, I'd rather your father lose you by name only than have you disappear without a trace. So, what do you say?" Tony asked, trying to figure out how to eloquently approach this.
Desi smiled and nodded, "Can I hug you?" she asked, holding her arms to Tony. He rolled his eyes playfully as he walked over to her, pulling her into a hug and looking at Pepper. Pepper smiled and got in on the hug. "You won't be in the will, though."
She laughed, "This is more than enough, thank you. Both of you. I accept." Tony waited patiently before Desi finally pulled away, pulling Pepper into a hug. "I'm so glad you said yes. At least we'll finally have a well-behaved Stark." Pepper said as she released Desi. "I promise I won't let you both down. Wait, should I call you Daddy T now? Papa? Dad? Or do I stick with Uncle?" she asked, looking at Tony curiously.
Tony groaned, but Pepper chuckled at the suggestions. "I don't know; Daddy T sounds pretty good to me." Pepper teased, making the women chuckle.
The team looked away as the light overwhelmed them. Destiny placed one hand over his chestpiece, the other on his cheek as she forced her powers forward. Nat watched, biting her thumb, a hand resting on Steve's shoulder as he watched his wife trying to work her magic, ready to pull her away if she over-exerted herself. Bucky was the same way, Loki pacing impatiently as Astros huffed at him. The lights dimmed for them as a dome was created around Desi and Tony, nervously awaiting any changes.
Desi opened her eyes and brightly shined white, watching Tony's body. She slowly began to see the black damage disappear, his regular body color returning. Pepper gasped, the team in awe as they saw Tony's chest piece begin to flicker, but it wouldn't stay lit long enough. Desi was starting to grow fatigued but was so close she couldn't give up now.
"Desi's getting fatigued," Loki muttered, and Bucky could only watch.
"She won't give up, though." Bucky reminded him, knowing how stubborn his wife was. Desi took a deep breath; she was at her limit, but she needed to give this one final push. Desi placed both of her hands over his chest piece, grunting as she pushed her way through when his chest piece finally lit up. Desi passed out on the floor as Tony gasped, Pepper crying as she pulled him into a hug. Bucky and Loki came to Desi's side, bringing her up to rest on their knees when she was non-responsive.
"I…I died, didn't I? What happened?" Tony questioned, looking around when he saw the reason. Desi was unconscious in Loki and Bucky's arms, Steve kneeling beside her as they checked her. "She brought you back," Pepper told him. Peter was now worried about Desi, whom he considered his sister. "M-Mom?" Jamie asked, the children coming to her side as they clung to her hands, shaking and crying for him to wake up.
Nat clung onto Clint as she watched them checking Desi, fighting her emotions but hoping Desi was okay. Desi had come from being the new trainee to who she was now; both were proud to have worked alongside her.
"She's still breathing…" Tapping Desi's face, Bucky said, "Doll, you need to wake up." Desi remained unfazed, and the team grew worried; she was a light sleeper. "She might just be spent from all the energy," Tony said as Rhodey helped him up, "Let her come home with me, I'll make sure she's taken care of."
"Thank you, Tony." Steve said.
"Anytime, Capsicle."
