Chapter 26: A Ghost, a Spark, and a Richard

Annie trapped in house.

A message on a motel mirror and the one that followed proved to Andy and the boys that Bobby was still there. The three of them went back to the house and combed it top to bottom, but they still couldn't find Annie. What they did find was a camcorder with a flash of Annie's face on it. She was definitely in the house.

"Hey, Andy, is there anything you can do? Any of your…" Dean waved his hand a bit. Andy cocked an eyebrow at him. "You know what I mean!"

"I'm not sure…what you think I can do…"

Just then, a woman in a fancy dress appeared in front of them. Watching her burn into proverbial ghost dust convinced them who was behind it all.

"At least now we know whose bones to burn," Dean said.

After snapping Van Ness back to the house, they hightailed it to take him out for real. They all stopped short when they saw and heard Bobby from the floor. After a moment of debrief the whole lot of them went upstairs and put the spirits to rest.

Dean did not take it well that Bobby was still around. Andy understood, to a certain extent. She could feel Bobby around more than the boys could, but she couldn't always see him. She wished, not for the first time, that Dyson was around. He would have been a huge help in communicating, and possibly getting through to the old hunter that he could and should move on.

They were back at Rufus' cabin keeping an ear out for any news on the archeological digs that Dick was heading. He was clearly looking for something, but for the life of any of them, they couldn't figure out what it was.

When Bobby reappeared and 'skipped to the skinny' on the information that he had got from Dick's office before he got shot, the picture slid into place.

"They're engineering the perfect herd, knocking us off the top of the food chain," Bobby said. Just before any of them could say something, Sam's laptop beeped as an email came in…from Frank.

"Dean, slow down. Let's think about this for a second," Andy said hurriedly putting on her jacket.

"What's there to think about Andy? If Dick sees what is on Frank's drive it's over. We're done!" Dean said sternly sliding into the impala.

"I get that Dean, but sprinting off to Chicago without Bobby and with absolutely no plan is not the best choice," Andy said rolling her eyes.

"It's a 26 hour drive Andy, we can plan on the way," Dean replied as he pulled away from the cabin.

Finding Charlie was surprisingly easy considering she was supposed to be a genius. After the song and dance of exchanging names, and Borax baths, the boys took the lead in telling her the whole crazy story.

"Let me get this straight. You all hunt monsters, but other monsters, never mind, not important. You," she pointed at Andy "are a multiverse traveling time lord essentially who also fights monsters." Andy nearly fell off her chair laughing, but she couldn't argue with the description. "So what do you need from me?"

It took a bit to hash out the plan once they found out that they only way to get into Dick's email was in his office. For her part, Charlie took most of it in stride. In spite of the fact that she was in real danger of dying, she showed her real taste for adventure by volunteering for the job. Andy was impressed to say the least. Andy didn't particularly like watching from the sidelines as Charlie took all of the risk, and to tell the truth, she was surprised how easily Dean let her do it. He was so focused on sticking one to Dick Roman he was letting his usual moral compass slip sideways. Andy nearly went in after her when they saw that Bobby's flask had hitched a ride with the red head, but Dean held her back.

"This is our one shot at this Andy, she'll be fine," he said. Andy grumbled and kept watching the cameras. She nearly blew everything when Dean coached Charlie through flirting with the guard outside Dick's office because she was laughing so hard. To her credit Charlie pulled everything off beautifully. Andy stayed behind in the van while the boys went to the airport to try and intercept Dick's special package that was coming from his dig site in Iran.

Andy saw when Charlie came flying down the stairs, and the boys arrived just in time. Andy watched as Bobby flashed into view and pressed his hands against the glass door. They shattered. Andy ran in, splashing Borax on the guy Charlie screamed at. The Bobby went all vengeful spirit and pushed Dick Roman around, buying them some time to get away. They got Charlie to a hospital. She got her arm set, and they put her on a bus with a promise to never contact her again. Andy liked her, but she could easily say she hoped never to see Charlie again, because it would mean she was safe.

A day later, they cracked open the clay tablet that Dick was looking for…and it was odd. A lighting storm popped up out of nowhere just as Dean was hammering open the clay. It revealed a stone tablet with markings that none of them had ever seen before.

"Aren't you good with languages Andy? Can't you just pick it up?" Dean asked.

"I have to hear it spoken, or at least have some reference point to learn from. It doesn't just magically download into my head," Andy said shaking her head. Dean sighed.

"Well, I'm going to get some shut eye for now. We'll figure this out in the morning."

Andy woke to the sound of Dean and Sam talking in low voices about women going into labour and other omens that happened last night around the time the cracked the tablet open. Then Sam's phone rang, with Meg on the other end. Castiel was awake.

In Indiana, Cas was indeed awake, but he was also…a little insane. But he knew what the stone tablet was. He called it The Word, with a capital W, written by Metatron…the scribe of God…who dictated The Word of God.

"What are you three jackasses doing with the word of God?" Meg asked cocking her head, "let me see that thing."

"Back off Meg," Dean growled.

"Hey it's my ass too,"

"Meg, cool it," Andy piped in.

"Enough with the 'Demons are second class citizens crap!'" Meg said forcefully, "particularly from Lucifer's pet." She looked at Andy pointedly.

"Don't like conflict," Castiel blurted out and went poof. The word fell and cracked into three pieces. Andy sighed.

"I'll go handle Cas," Dean said and walked out.

"What are you into kids?" Meg asked again. Sam and Andy said nothing. "Fine, I'll just go get my angel and head out," and she walked out the door. Andy continued picking up the piece of tablet and sliding them into Sam's bag. She stood up and dusted her hands off, she heard a soft noise behind her. She turned and was smacked in the face with a, thankfully empty, bed pan. She yelled and stumbled backwards landing on her ass. When she could finally see again, Sam was bolting back out the door again, and the bag with the tablet was gone. Andy managed to follow Sam and Meg outside as they chased a young guy around.

Kevin was a conundrum, and a wrench in the plan to say the least. He was not adjusting well to being thrown into the thick of all of this shit. When the other angels came looking for the prophet, Castiel really tried to turn them away, but he was too off his rocker to really pull it off. Then Dean made the choice to blow the angels back to their corners and they went running.

Slowly, Kevin was able to translate the tablet. It took a few anxiety attacks and a lot of destiny/chosen crap from Dean, and a few interventions from angels, but Kevin made it through. He told them the recipe to kill, not just inconvenience, but kill Dick. Then the angels took Kevin home, and Cas just…left, but not before giving up a small bottle of his blood.

Since Bobby was slowly falling off the rails. Sam, Dean and Andy were all walking a bit on eggshells around him. When he ambushed Dean in the bathroom to talk about the weapon they needed, they were all a bit weirded out.

"I've been doing some thinking on the blood. Fallen humanity, seems to me the best fit for that would be Crowley. Father of fallen beasts, you're probably going to need to bleed an alpha," Bobby said.

"Where are we going to find an alpha? They're all dead," Dean asked when he came out.

"Well figure that out later Dean, but I think Bobby is on to something about using Crowley," Andy said, "as much as I would like to never see that smarmy jackass again, I think he might be worth talking to at least."

Then they summoned Crowley. Andy hung in the back of the room when the boys summoned him.

"Hello boys, and lady," Crowley said, nodding to Andy in the back. The boys gave Crowley the quick and dirty version of how they found out how they could put an end to Dick.

"Will you do it?" Dean asked.

"Well, I'm happy to give you some, but I will give it to you last. Can't have you running around with a vile of my blood now can I? What I can give you now, is a tip. I have it on good authority one Alpha survived. Needless to say, I keep tabs."

Andy hated the idea of going to hunt an alpha. The last one she tussled with left her with thick scars on her back. Despite that, she had gotten good at hunting them down over her year of doing it, so following Crowley's guidance, paired with Andy's experience made things relatively easy. Finding the young girl in the house was a bit of a win as she led them to the right place. Dean chose to leave Bobby's flask behind, which Andy agreed was a good idea, even though she knew he would not be happy. She once again, wished Dyson was there with them. He would have been able to talk Bobby down and keep him saner.

The girl turning on them should not have surprised them, but it did. Andy tried to do most of the talking once Dean got his head smashed into the table.

"Listen, you know who I am, and I know you probably don't care for me, but we have a common goal right now," Andy said facing the vampire.

"You are right, I do know who you are, and although we have a similar goal it does not encourage me to consider your request." The alpha flicked a hand at his henchmen and they started dragging Dean and Sam away. One came up behind Andy.

"We know what's causing the plague," she said firmly. That gave him pause. "What do you know about Leviathan?"

"Enough," the alpha replied.

"Do you know they're poisoning the food supply?"

"Roman didn't mention that when we met for dinner in the fall. We are on excellent terms he and I. He said grabbing a snack would become easier than ever."

"Well, you might need to rethink your partnership. There's pesticide in the formula," Andy said with a bit of heat.

"You would like me to think that wouldn't you, why tell me all this?"

"Because we can stop it, but we need you, we need your blood to make a weapon to kill him." The alpha laughed.

"You want me to believe that you want to preserve the vampire race now?"

"No," Dean interjected, "but it beats going down with you." They were interrupted by a young boy coming in and telling the alpha that Edgar was at the door.

"Put them in the study, I'll deal with them after meeting with Edgar."

Picking a lock with a needle was a new thing for Andy, but it was an interesting experiment. She was just happy it worked. She also thanked the gods for Dean being sneaky enough to stash a syringe of vamp-tonite in his shoe.

Chopping off Edgar's head was one of the most satisfying things Andy had done in a long time. It dampened when Dean got thrown over the table by the alpha.

"Do you want to win this fight with me, or do you want my blood?" The alpha asked. He slit his wrist with a fingernail, bled for a moment into a cup and held it out to Dean. "For dealing with Edgar."

They took it and left. When they got back to the motel, the door was ajar, and a mirror was cracked. Dean quickly checked the safe. Bobby's flask was gone.

"Well at least we still have Crowley in our corner," Dean said, "What could possibly go wrong?"

They headed back to Rufus' cabin and started brainstorming on where to get a righteous bone. Dean tried calling Cas once, but he didn't seem to be in the right frame of mind to help.

"I love bees as much as anyone," Andy said, "but even that was a bit excessive." She shook her head trying to dislodge the memory of Cas naked, covered in bees.

"Too bad we can't just de-bone a nun or something," Dean said with a humorless laugh. Sam and Andy exchanged a look. "What?"

"I mean," Andy said shrugging.

"It's not the worst idea," Sam agreed.

"Seriously?" Dean said incredulously.

The boys left Andy at the cabin to try and figure out where Dick might be so they could be ready when the time came. They made it back with the bone, and Andy figured out that Dick was at SucroCorp headquarters in Seattle. Armed with almost every part of the weapon, they summoned Crowley…who didn't show.

"He's standing us up," said Dean clearly frustrated. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Meg walked in saying "you deal with him I can't anymore."

"Why did he bring you here?" Dean asked.

"Go ask him he was your boyfriend first," Meg said with a condescending smirk.

Cas eventually put his brain together enough to tell them that the angels guarding Kevin were dead and the prophet was missing.

"That is not good…" Andy said softly.

Of course, it was then that Crowley decided to show up. After a few moments of posturing and accusations and being disappointed that Cas was too broken to be fun to crush, Crowley mentioned that he was being held by Roman in a Devils Trap. He also told them about the 'fair deal' for giving them the wrong blood, which he assured them he would not do.

"How can we trust you?"

"Oh, good god don't, never trust anyone" he said and glanced between Andy and Cas, "I learned that little tidbit from my last business partner." Crowley tossed the vial of blood to Sam and vanished.

They prepared the weapon and Cas made sandwiches. It was a little anticlimactic as nothing really happened, but they had to trust that it would work.

"Cas, are you sure you won't come with us?" Sam asked.

"No, I don't fight any more. But enjoys your sandwiches in solidarity," he said. Dean rolled his eyes, but rarely turned down a good sandwich. Shortly after, they hit the road for Seattle. They made it to SucroCorp and Andy thanked Charlie for getting them camera access. They quickly realized that there were far too many Dick Roman's wandering around the building. They had no idea what to do. Sam noticed a truck pull up just across the road. He recognized the woman that got out…as the maid at the motel where Bobby escaped. Before Andy or Dean could say anything Sam was out of the car and running. He came back a minute later with the woman in his arms.

They high tailed it back to Whitefish. They were not prepared to try and figure out which Dick was the one they needed. When Sam brought that up, Andy noticed a flash of something run across Cas' face.

"Cas? Is there something you want to tell us?" Andy asked. Cas busied himself drying a plate.

"Cas,"

"No, I destroyed everything, and I will destroy everything again. Let's just leave it at that." Cas said turning away.

"No," Dean said gruffly standing "we can't leave it."

"Dean," Andy tried to stop him.

"You let these things in, you don't get to check out. No one cares that you're broken Cas. Clean up your mess!"

Cas looked at Dean for a moment.

"We should play twister," he said, and was gone. Meg rolled her eyes.

"Great job, you sacred off the only hope. Did it ever occur to you that Cas had those things inside of him. He knows them…"

"He can tell them apart," Sam finished in awe.

"Ding ding ding," Meg said sarcastically.

They spent most of that evening watching multiple Dick's from the cameras in the building as well as giving interviews on the evening news.

"They all have the same brain so it's no good looking for tells. They would all be the same." Dean said with a heavy sigh.

"Is that the best you can do?" Bobby's voice broke through the frustrated silence. Dean looked over at him.

"Bobby, we weren't sure if you would…" he left the statement hang there.

"Well, you have the flask. You should'a burned it right off…I'm still jonesin'…real bad. I want to go grab some poor meat suit and go stick it to Dick," Bobby lost focus for a moment, rage crossing over his face.

"Bobby," Andy said softly moving into his eyeline. He saw her and came back to himself. He looked at each of them.

"Let's be real, I damn near killed you and that woman," he looked over at Sam.

"Bobby it wasn't your fault," Sam said, "not really."

"Sure, like I thought I could be the one to out smart the way spirits go. It's like an itch you can't scratch out," Bobby sighed and shook his head. "Look, I'm done. Go get Dick, but don't do it because you think it will scratch the itch. Do it because it's the job and it's right." Bobby looked at each one of them in turn again, "and when it's your time…go."

They made a fire and Dean got the flask.

"Here's to running into you all on the other side, but…not too soon," Bobby said. Dean nodded and threw the flask into the fire. It slowly melted away. They watched as Bobby's spirit glowed and burnt away. Andy let out a shuddering sigh. Dean put an arm around her and kissed the top of her head.

"I'm going out for a bit," Dean said. Andy looked up at him questioning. "If we're going to war, we should all be a part of it." It took Andy a second to understand, and then she got it. She smiled and nodded.

"If Dick knows we're coming, may as well go big or go home," Andy said and gave Dean a small squeeze.

Cas decided in the end to come with them, to do what he could. With him on bord, it felt like they could win. Andy and Meg took the front, Sam went in to get Kevin, and Dean and Cas hunted Dick. When demons showed up for Meg, Andy tried to stop them, but they got the drop on her. She sliced and diced her way to where she hoped Dean and Cas were. She made it to the lab just in time to see Cas go flying, crashing into some boxes of glass flasks.

Andy watched as Dean pulled out the bone and plunged it into Dicks stomach. He smirked and pulled it out.

"Did you really think you could get me that easily," he said with only a slight note of hysteria.

"Honestly, no," Dean said as Andy grabbed Dicks arms and wrenched them behind him, and Cas grabbed his head and pulled it back.

"Figured we'd have to catch you off guard" Dean said as he slammed the real bone into Dick's exposed neck. He screamed for a moment, then went frighteningly still. Sam and Kevin ran in just in time to watch.

The slight grin on Dick Roman's face was making Andy nervous as she watched him begin to lose form, black ooze leaking out of his mouth and ears. Then suddenly, everything went black.
