The sun was already set, and for Derek, it was a very nice view as the dark was biting the lights out. He's sting on the lounge chair set on his ex-wife's patio, listening to the tossing of the waves on the shore, watching the city lights share hues to the dim of the night. He could imagine leaving his fisherman life and move to a place like this. Just to chill and relax after a very stressful day at work. Thinking Addison must be living her life better than he does.
"Amelia is still out; she might be coming home late tonight. And I ordered Chinese food, that okay?" His bubble was popped when Addison appeared, wearing her comfortable home clothes, handing him a bottle of beer. He accepted it, still icy cold. "So we have your room until later?" He was hoping for a positive response but Addison shook her head. No? She sat down beside him; he scooted over to give her space and then wrapped his arm around her waist, locking them together so she won't fall. "We can't have sex in the house when we have Amelia." Their feet were tangled on each other, no space in between. "Remember when she was 12 and heard me almost crying? She ran to your mom and told her you were spanking me."
Addison felt Derek's chest vibrated, she knew he was trying not to laugh so hard. "I was spanking you."
"Shut up." Also, she giggled, reminiscing that day. It was a funny memory. "I don't want that to happen again." Derek offered her the beer he's drinking, it was the last one from her fridge and sharing wouldn't hurt. They've already shared a lot of things, gone through what's yours is mine phase since they spent 1/3 of their lives living together. They were happy before one of them stopped noticing that caused one of them to commit unchaste behaviour. "It's your house, my mother is not here, and it's just you and me until later." Derek was still trying to get Addison into the mood, forgetting how hard Addison's head could be. "Don't push it Shepherd. My house, my rules." And then they heard the doorbell rang. "Must be the food, can you get it please?"
"Of course, Madame Addison." Both of them sat up, tho Addison stayed on her place, watching Derek disappear to get their dinner. It took him longer tho, than he's supposed to. "Hi, sir. How can I help you?" Derek asked politely as he was shocked, seeing a uniformed man standing in front of him, holding a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of cheap wine as he saw it. "Is Addison here?" No she's not, and you can come again never. Derek wanted so bad to reply that back, only he chose to just lock it in his brain. "Ah yeah. Come on in, I think you already knew the way." That was cold, as Derek completely opened the door for the SWAT officer.
Who is he? Is Addison dating a cop?! Is he the reason why she can't have sex with me? Because she's also having sex with him in her house and planned tonight?
"Kevin?!" Of course Addison looked surprised seeing him. Wrong timing? "Hi." With a smile that could melt a heart, Kevin handed Addison the bouquet of flowers saying "I would like to invite you to dinner, but it seems like you already have a company." Daffodils? I'm allergic to daffodils.
"Uh yeah, he's Amelia's brother. He's here for—" before Addison could finish her sentence, Amelia ended it. "Me. He's visiting since I haven't seen him for over a year now." The other Shepherd knew that Addison doesn't like Kevin that much and she had to be the stronger and sane sister for Addison at that moment. "You guys are here. Maybe we should eat dinner now, you're welcome to join us Kevin." It was an awkward invitation from Addison and a sharp get lost from Derek's look. "Thanks Addison, but I have to pass for now." Kevin just received an apologetic look from the redhead before walking out of the house with the cheap wine on his hand.
"I saw what you did there, Derek. You didn't have to be rude." He just shrugged it off, setting the plates on the table, and that made Addison annoyed. "So you're not talking to me now? Okay then." Amelia on the other hand was just sitting there, smiling like a fool. She felt like it was old times when her brother and her ex-sister-in-law were still as one Shepherd, bickering about something, and would have a makeup sex right after. She realized that everything had changed now, so she broke the tension by saying "Let's just eat. It's bad to spoil the food." She looked at Addison first and then Derek, throwing the question "Why are you here anyway, Derek?" to him "In your house?" and to Addison. No one answered her, but Amelia Shepherd's a smart woman. "You two are screwing each other! I knew it!" She smirked like she just won the biggest guessing game. "Is he the reason why you flew out for days?" Still no answer from the ex-couple. "Why'd you have to divorce then when you can't get enough of each other?"
Finally, "Amelia!" Addison and Derek said in chorus. "You know, filing a divorce was the most stupid thing you guys did." She really couldn't zip her mouth shut. No one dared to talk while they ate dinner, right after; Amelia went to her room so Addison and Derek were left on the patio again. "Kevin. He's...he asked me out twice, but I don't think we have a shot."
"I don't care." That's the answer Addison didn't expect from Derek. He doesn't care? Yeah he really doesn't care at all. "I'm going back to my hotel now. Goodnight." Why is he so cold? "Derek. Is everything okay here? Have I done something wrong to upset you?"
Kevin.
"No. I'm not upset. I guess I'd spend the night alone huh." He forced a smile. "Maybe you can come to my hotel, since Amelia already knew that we're doing each other." It was still a no for Addison. "I have a research to do. I told you my schedule is tight."
"Not as tight as you."
"Derek!"
"Alright, I'm going. Goodnight, Addie." He wrapped her in his arms, locking as if someone's gonna steal her from him. "Since I couldn't get a goodnight sex, can I get a goodnight kiss then?" Addison shook her head, smiling while running her fingers through Derek's soft hair. "That we could work." Their lips sealed with passion, it wasn't just a sex kiss—it was something like they've shared under the snow, in front of the giant Christmas tree back in Rockefeller Center, when they celebrated their first Christmas together as Mr. And Mrs. Shepherd. Addison and Derek knew that the kiss gave them a familiar feeling they were trying to avoid.

"Stop busying yourself or you'll get older than you already look."
"Stop disturbing me." Addison furrowed her eyebrows when she saw Derek leaning on her doorframe, holding a bouquet of Queen Elizabeth roses. "Are you trying to even the score?"
"Bold of you to assume that these are for you." Well, Derek knew that Addison's favourite flower is rose, the Queen Elizabeth kind. "Yeah, bold of me to expect that you'll also treat a woman right." Addison stood up, getting her bag, ready to go. "Where are you going? I'm just kidding, Addie."
"Everything is a joke for you, ain't it?"
"Of course not." Guilty. "Here." Derek tried giving Addison the bouquet "These are for you." Yet she just walked past him. "Just keep it to yourself Derek. It's what you do best anyway." Faking a smile. "Speaking of..." she paused, and then gave Derek a provocative look. "Have you already told your post-it wife about us?"
