Nine months later Rita gave birth to a son. Her whole family minus Lynn sr, gathered around to see their newest sibling. Albert her father unwrapped the infant to get a look at the new born, " he sure does look similar to Lincoln". Rita smiled, her father was closer to the Truth than he would probably ever know. Lincoln stood with his chest puffed out, she had never Lincoln look so proud. Pop pop attempted to hand Lynn Jr the baby, however Lynn stood up abruptly and stomped out of the room. Wincing Rita tells her father to leave Lynn alone, she was taking her dad's death hard...
Lynn was frustrated, she could still hear the sounds of her sisters cooing at their new brother. Almost a year ago mom and Lincoln came out in a relationship, Lynn thought back to that one night at dinner. When she first heard the news Lynn was disgusted, looking around expecting to see outrage on her sisters faces. Lynn in horrified when Lori stepped up and hugged their mom and Lincoln, " I literally accept you guys".
One by one each of her siblings congratulated their brother and mother, their dad started crying and ran out of the house while no one was paying attention. Lynn was left standing bewildered,what the fuck just happened?
Life had surprisingly enough gone on, with their weird family hierarchy Lincoln was now technically their step dad. After their father left that night he went to a bar and had a few drinks, maybe a few too many. On his way back Lynn sr was hit by a car and killed. It was pretty terrible, Lynn couldn't believe how fast everyone moved on. Mom worked part time now, Dad had apparently had fairly good life insurance and they ironically for once weren't hurting for money. Lynn tried to ignore how uncomfortable she was, it was one thing to know they were together but seeing her mom and Lincoln curled up together on the couch felt like a violation. Lincoln acted like he was in charge now, even Lori listened to him. Lynn couldn't do this, it was frustrating. She didn't care how cute that baby was.

Scowling Lynn sat outside the hospital room by herself, inside the room her family was happy together. Excited voices were audible, Lynn felt tears collected at her eyes,it wasn't fair.Lynn wanted her old family back. It was going to be a long five years until her eighteenth birthday.
