Persephone watched as her father mourned what he believed was his only daughter fading before his eyes. She didn't want him to be sad, but Chaos had told her that this had to happen, that he couldn't believe for a second that she would be coming back or his choices would be influenced and that was why Chaos had manipulated his mind so that he believed he felt her and her mom fade. So she would watch for now. Persephone felt a soft hand on her shoulder, turning to her left she saw Nyx standing there. Rushing forward, taking Nyx and herself by surprise, Persephone embraced Nyx with surprising force. Burying her face in Nyx's she wept, she wept for the family she knew thought she was dead, knowing that she wouldn't be able to see them for thousands of years. Nyx embraced her, holding her as she cried, she stroked her hair. When Persephone eventually passed out from exhaustion Nyx took her back to her room and put her to bed, pausing at the door to look at her, Nyx shut the door and went to her room. After today Persephone will not have a very easy life, and everyone knew that.

Persephone's POV
I woke up in the morning, rolling off my bed I looked into the mirror at my bloodshot red eyes and cringed. Going into the bathroom I rubbed water on my face and left my room heading towards the front room where Nyx would be waiting. When Nyx saw me she motioned towards the seat across from her and I sat down.
"That was a nice shot yesterday," Nyx praised. "You do know that was the last time you can get involved right?"
"Yes, my lady." I responded. I hated that, I could help my father against my grandfather but after that all I can do is watch. I knew why but that didn't make it any better. "What's next for me then."
"Your training is getting cranked to 11." Nyx smiled. "Good luck."
For the next 1348 long years that's all I did, I trained and when I wasn't training, which wasn't that often, I watched my family. I watched my father eventually get corrupted by the power he held and then I watched as my half siblings, the gods, rose up and took our father down, just as he had done with his father. I was forced to watch as my father was butchered and scattered across Tartarus, and my uncles were mostly imprisoned. That night I cried myself to sleep and didn't leave my bed for days. The Gods were better rulers than the Titans but it didn't make it any easier to lose them, even though they thought they had lost me over a thousand years ago. But anyways, it was late one evening and I was in the training room working on my swordsmanship with my dual swords when Chaos and Nyx walked in. As soon as I noticed them I quickly dropped to a knee to bow, but was cut off by Chaos telling me to sit down.
"What is it Lady Chaos?" I questioned.
"It's time that you return to earth." Chaos stated, walking over to the window and looking out. "There is a goddess named Artemis, you must join her little group and keep watch over the godly world."
"Why must I join a bunch of little girls led by a child goddess?" I complained.
"You must look past your hatred for the gods" Chaos reprimanded, "I have told you the part you must play."
I looked down at the ground frowning, knowing she was right I just nodded my head. Afterwards she left the room and I felt Nyx's hand land softly on my head. Looking up to the woman that basically had become my mother after I lost mine. She smiled at me and I smiled back. She leaned down towards me and I felt a soft press of her lips on my forehead. I looked up at her, I could feel my face heating up. As I went to speak I was shushed.
With a solemn look on her face, Nyx looked towards me and said softly, "hush my child, we may only have a few more moments together before you must return to where you came from. Let me enjoy the time I have left with my baby girl."
While my face got even hotter I wrapped my arms around her waist and buried my face into her shoulder. "I'm going to miss you." I could hear the crack as my voice wavered. I didn't want to leave the place that was my home. To leave the only family I had ever known. I knew I would have to return, I had a duty, but that didn't mean I had to like it.
I could feel her shake ever so slightly, I could hear the waiver in her voice as she whispered back. "Oh μικρό πουλάκι, I will miss you too. I wish you could stay here with me till the end of time." I agreed with her. I knew that the tears leaking out my eyes were probably making the shoulder of her peplos wet but it seemed like neither of us minded right now. I was just savoring being close to her as much as I could until I had to leave her.
"I almost forgot." Nyx suddenly exclaimed, startling me from my thoughts. "I have a mission for you. You are going to be sent to earth for a little bit."
"Why?" I was annoyed at the prospect of going back there. "And where am I even going?"
"You must go to Tartesso, just outside of the Garden Of Hesperides." Nyx said simply.
"What is a Hesperide?" I asked.
"Daughters of Atlas and Pleione, and one of them are about to be exiled for helping a pathetic excuse for a demigod acquire one of their apples of immortality. I need you to take her to Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, and the moon."
I whipped my face towards her so fast my neck started to hurt but I didn't care. "She is who took over the moon from my mom?"
"Yes, and do you know what that means?" Nyx asked me, and of course I knew. It meant that the day Ouranos attacked us he actually made my mother fade, it meant that she was not going to be coming back and I never even got to meet her. I could feel the tears start welling up inside my eyes, and I didn't make an attempt to hold them back, I just let them flow down my face. It took one look at my teary eyes and Nyx had her arms wrapped around me again. Pulling me into a tight hug. "We will speak more on this at a later time, But you need to go, bring her to Artemis, you two will join Artemis group of hunters." Nyx held her hand out and from the shadows a brillant grey and silver jeweled necklace appeared. "When you are on Earth you must wear this, it will conceal your Titanic aura. You will still have your physical strength, and your powers over your parents domains but you will seem like a normal mortal so you must not let anyone find out your heritage. If you ever need me just pray and I'll be there immediately."
"Got it, my lady." I bowed, "I shall go see Lady Chaos right now."
"Stay safe, μικρό πουλάκι" I heard as I closed the door.
Making my way to the throne room I thought about everything that has happened to me in my 1358 years of living. Almost like it happened just yesterday, I can remember the first time Nyx taught me to shoot a bow, oh I enjoyed learning so much. All I wanted to do was learn, I kept coming back to learn anything I could from her. I used to enjoy sitting with her as we watched the stars of the void.
I almost ran into the door in my reminiscing, shaking my head as I walked through the door. Kneeling before Chaos waiting for her to tell me my orders. Rising to my feet when told to, I watched her face morph from a smile to a frown.
"Over the past 1300 years you have really brightened things up around here, you really wormed your way into our little family. I do not want to do this, but if you don't follow the path fate has for you then not even I know who would survive the future. We will all miss you child." Chaos said looking me right in the eyes. I smiled and nodded towards her and she continued. "You will have a long hard journey from here on. Making your way to Artemis with the daughter of Atlas. You will have many challenges, just remember to rely on each other and above all else stay away from mortals."
"I understand, my lady." I said bowing. Chaos waved her hand and a vertical pitch black line appeared in the air next to her. It then started widening with cracks going off from the sides. The inside was pitch black, I couldn't see anything inside. Hesitantly I stepped through the portal feeling a cold wind run down my spine, the feeling was horrible, I felt like I could feel the void pulling at my soul as I traveled through the portal. It was only a few seconds but it felt like days until my foot landed in the plush grass of a forest. Looking around I could see trees in every direction, it took well over several moments to regain her bearings and balance. Once I got over my brief disorientation, I started to think of how I could find this girl. I figure that searching for her immortal aura wouldn't help, since she was probably no longer immortal. When I heard a faint voice in the back of my head. I could hear Nyx speaking softly in my mind telling me to focus on my powers with the moon.
I wanted to hit myself for being so stupid to not think about the powers I had inherited from my parents. I sat down on the ground and started to focus on the moon. I could feel it high above me, the pull of it as it glided across the sky, the smell of the wind as it blew through the tree line. Then all of a sudden my consciousness was lifted out of my body. Soaring all the way up, past the leaves on the tall trees. The sensation was overwhelming, I could feel nature's power coursing through me, I nearly went crazy. I had to force my mind to calm down so I could understand everything I was seeing. I could see everything from deer grazing in the trees to birds flying in the sky. I started to sense something different, I could feel the life essence of living creatures, a slight problem was that I can't tell if it's a mortal, an immortal, or an animal. I spent so long just trying to figure out what was what, then I noticed that there was one that was different from the rest. In the forest with me a little bit away. Surprisingly just thinking about it, I returned to my body. Heading towards where it was I made my way east. If I find out that this wasn't who I was looking for I am going to lose my mind. After what felt like for ages, I started hearing a woman cursing and what sounded like two rocks slamming together.
Walking through the brush and tree branches I saw what was going on, a girl, who looked around the age of 16 with dark black hair, brown eyes, copper-colored skin, with a slight upturned nose, was slamming two rocks over a pile of twigs. "That's not going to work" I chimed, laughing while leaning against a tree. When the girl whipped towards me falling backwards onto her butt, I laughed harder.
"Who the Hades are you?" She growled angrily, which made me laugh harder. Ignoring her question I walked over to her pile of terrible kindling and started a fire.
"There ya go, like magic, a fire." I flourished. Sitting down next to the fire, I gestured to her to sit down. "So what is your name?" I asked, basking in the warm glow of the fire. Seeing her hesitation, "come on I'm not going to hurt you."
"My name is Zoë." The now named woman said sitting down next to me trying to warm her hands by the fire.
"Just Zoë?" I asked, seeing her nod I shook my head. "No that won't do." Seeing her confused face I continued. "You can't go around without a last name, it just stands out too much." I looked at her face as it dawned on her what I meant. Looking around I noticed some flowers nearby, it struck me. "Nightshade, how does that sound, Zoë Nightshade."
Nodding, Zoë looked at me. "Thank you, I like the sound. What is your name? Why are you out in the forest like this?"
"Oh, Im sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Persephone Jackson." I responded, quickly coming up with a surname for myself. "I'm looking for someone."
"Oh I hope you find them. I'd be careful though. I hear Artemis and her group of hunters roam these forests." Zoë warned.
Catching that she knew of the godly world, I smiled. "That's who I am looking for. I want to join her."
Zoë looked at me questionly. "Who is your godly parent?"
Laughing, I shake my head. "I don't have a godly parent. I'm 100% mortal, but I know of the gods, I met a demigod who explained everything to me. I thought I was going crazy when I saw the monsters. So I decided I would find Artemis and join her, I heard she took mortals like me in and trained them to hunt."
Zoë hesitated before looking at me and nodding towards me. "I am the daughter of the Titan Atlas and the sea Goddess Pleione."
Acting surprised I exclaimed. "You're a goddess?"
"No I am not. I was a Hesperide, Nymphs of sunset." She explained, though she didn't know that I knew. "I made a mistake and I lost my immortality."
"I'm sorry to hear." I said setting my hand on her shoulder. We both shot up when we heard the bushes rustle around us, gazing into the darkness that was behind the bushes we were greeted with dozens of glowing red eyes. "When I run, follow behind me closely." I whisper to the frozen Zoë, startling her out of her frozen state. Turning on the spot me and her took off through the forest. The hellhounds were so close, I could feel their breath on my legs as I was just out of reach of their teeth. We ran taking rights and lefts trying to lose the beasts. I saw a fire in the distance and grabbed Zoë and pulled her that direction. As we were approaching the tree line, I could hear what sounded like a bunch of people talking. With a last burst of speed Zoë and I burst through the treeline to see dozens of bows, taught with arrows, aimed right at us. Quickly, grabbing Zoë, her and I hit the ground at full speed as the hounds jumped out behind us only to be destroyed by a volley of silver arrows. It took mere moments before I heard the last one die, looking up I looked right into the silver eyes of a 12 year old girl, pulling back I clamered to my feet and helped Zoë up.
One of the girls stepped forwards. "My lady, look at her eyes, they match yours." With them all staring at me, I sure am glad that my hair falls in front of my face, obscuring my left eye and hiding the golden hue. I'll let them think both are silver, for now.
"I see Phoebe, you two who are you, and who are your godly parents?" The now identified 12 year old goddess asked, staring at me.
Zoë stepped forwards rather timidly, looking anywhere but towards the young Goddess. "My name is Zoë Nightshade. I'm the daughter of Atlas and Pleione, formerly a Hesperide, I was exiled from my family, and left for dead by a demigod I helped with his quest. So I was looking for a place to make home." The way that Zoë looked almost depressed and dejected, I can't help but to feel bad for the girl. Artemis with a calm expression on her face walked up to Zoë and placed one hand on her shoulder.
"Well, if a home you were looking for then a home you have found." Artemis almost consoled my companion before looking towards me. "And who are you?"
"My name is Persephone Jackson," I merely responded.
"Who is your godly parent?" Artemis pushed.
"Neither of my parents are godly. I don't even know my parents as they were both killed when I was younger. The day I was born my grandfather on my father's side tried to kill me and mother, only succeeding in killing my mother, my father killed my grandfather and then he too died. I was taken in and raised by the woman who saved me from my grandfather." I lied, hoping she would buy it, since it wasn't a complete lie, that did happen just not exactly how I said.
"Ahhh, a clear sighted mortal, I see, and I'm guessing you came looking for me as well?" Artemis asked. Smiling when I nod in agreement. "Then come, young ones let's sit down and talk," waving us over to the fire in the middle of the camp. "I'm sure you two know about who we are but let me reiterate it now, I am Artemis, Goddess of archery, the moon, maidenhood, childbirth, wilderness, and most importantly in this case I am the Goddess of the Hunt. Everyone around you are my hunters, my companions, and my family. We do not just let anyone into our family, to join you must be accepted by all, and above all you must stay true to your oath. Do you accept?" Zoë and I nodded. Continuing, "Ok, then repeat after me. I pledge myself to the Goddess Artemis."
With as much conviction as I could muster I repeated along with Zoë. Artemis continued, "I turn my back on the company of men, accept eternal maidenhood" I heard Zoë gulp before she followed my lead in reciting the next part, and I steeled my nerves preparing for the rest of the oath that will bind me to this goddess for a long time. "and join the Hunt!" After we finished the oath, Artemis smiled before looking towards the hunt. "Girls, do you accept their oaths?" There was a chorus of applause from the group, Artemis reaches over and grabs both of our shoulders with one hand. A faint glowing silver light comes from her hands and flows into us. I saw Artemis frown a little bit while looking at the hand on my shoulder but she just shook her head and continued. Pulling her hands back she smiled at us and said "Welcome to the Hunt."
"Thank you my lady." Zoë and I responded at the same time, smiling at each other.
"We usually pair up two to a tent, do you mind sharing?" A girl with curly blonde hair, grey eyes, and a silver tiara, asked us, while walking up to us. I looked at Zoë and shook my head and the same time she did, and unknown to us we had agreed to be paired up for almost everything and our new life began.
