Digimon are back again
Amanda: We decided to have a dumb picnic in the Digital World. Kari and Gatomon, Mary's old babysitter, came along for the ride. Kari and Mary ended up getting separated from us and were being attacked by Galemon. Kari didn't want to fight, but it was the only way to fend off Galemon and he ended up being destroyed. Kari wished that didn't happen, but it needed to be done. I knew getting involved with these guys was a bad idea.
"Cold As Ice"
Mistymon is not pleased. Haru and his friends have kept coming to the Digital World. He's tried to have friends get rid of them, but each one of them has ended up defeated and are now gone.
"Continue to be on the lookout for those humans!" Mistymon said to his comrades. "We must hold our ground against them." All of the digimon that sided with him was in agreement and headed out. "Those despicable humans... We must do something about them."
"Maybe you need a digimon that's a little more ruthless." Mistymon turned around and saw a white devil-like digimon floating down to him.
"IceDevimon..." Mistymon said. This was one digimon that he was actually distrustful towards. "What do you want?"
"I heard that you've been having a human problem. I'm here to offer my services." IceDevimon claimed. "You can't stand having those humans coming to our world. So, I will help you get rid of them." Normally, Mistymon would gladly accept the help of a digimon, but he knew better than to trust the likes of one like IceDevimon.
"I'll give you a chance, but understand that I do not fully trust you, IceDevimon. I'll be watching you very closely." Mistymon said. He just hopes he doesn't regret this.
...
Haru
"So, you guys like Kari?" Davis asked as he was serving Haru and Dorumon more of his ramen.
"Yeah. She seems like a nice person, and Mary certainly trusts and respects her." Haru said as he and Dorumon enjoyed the ramen.
"Yeah. She really is. In fact, Kari's been like that ever since she and I were kids." Davis said as he couldn't stop smiling. "She's really sweet, pretty, and always thinking of others. She's always putting others before herself." He said with that big smile on his face.
"Oh?! What's that smile about?" Haru said with a smirk on his face. "It looks like someone has a crush." He claimed with Davis getting embarrassed and his face turning red. "Anyway, I can't tease you about it. I'm meeting up with the others at school. The classes should be almost cleared by now. We better get going, Dorumon."
"Now? I wanted seconds." Dorumon said, but Haru just grabbed him and pulled him out of there. As Haru was on his way out, he almost bummed into someone.
"Sorry." Haru said as he moved around her.
"It's okay." The lady said as she let him pass.
"Did you see that?" A digimon said that Haru happened to have missed. "He had a digimon with him."
"Yolei!" Davis said as he noticed his friend at the door.
"Hey, Davis." Yolei said with her paying a surprise visit.
...
Odaiba Elementary
Haru and Dorumon hurried to the school and noticed the students were all clearing out since the day was over. As he was on his way over to the school, he spotted Amanda and Labramon near the entrance.
"Amanda!" Haru called and got her attention. "Were you waiting for us?"
"Not much of a choice." Amanda said. "It was my turn to help clear the field, so I figured I wait out here for you to show. The others are already in the computer room, so let's just get going."
"There's no need to rush, Amanda." Labramon said. "We're meeting in the computer room again to discuss what we're going to do about Mistymon. Ben says he might have found a way to see what's going on in the Digital World."
"And I just want to get it over with." Amanda said.
"Sheesh, what is your problem?" Haru questioned. "For a girl who acts like she doesn't really care, you sure seem to get involved a lot."
"That's my business." Amanda said. Amanda does seem to be a little difficult to figure out. She acts like she doesn't really care that much for anything, but then why is she getting involved? Why does it seem like she's keeping people at arm's length? Another thing about her is about to be revealed as they heard the honk of a car and saw a couple in a red car pull up with the two digimon quickly hiding in the bushes. One was a man in a tropical shirt with short black hair. The other was a simple woman in a beige turtleneck with a brunette bob-cut.
"Amanda, hi!" The lady called.
"What are you two doing here?" Amanda questioned.
"We were running a few errands and thought we come pick you up from school." The man said.
"Thanks, but I can't I actually have something important to do." Amanda said. "I'll just see the two of you at home." The two of them were curious about it until they noticed Haru. Seeing him, the lady was smiling.
"No, it's fine, honey. It's nice to see you socializing with others. Just call us if you need us." The lady said and the two of them drove off.
"Were those your parents? They seem nice, and not like you." Haru said.
"They're not my parents. I live with my Uncle Mitch and Aunt Vicky." Amanda admitted and then just brushed it off like it was nothing. "Let's go. The others are waiting." She said as she went on inside, but Haru was astonished. He had no idea she was living with relatives. Why didn't she say so before? Putting the whole thing aside, the two of them went on into the computer room.
"Hey, you're both here." Mary said.
"Yeah. Ben, you say you have a way to see what's going on in the Digital World?" Haru said. "How?"
"This is how." Ben said as he used one of the computers. "Cody told me that this computer was the only computer that had a gate to the Digital World. For some reason, this is the only one that did until they learned they could use their digivices to do it. I fiddled with with it and check it out." He used the computer and showed a map he had of the Digital World.
"It's a map of the Digital World, and we can detect abnormal activities going on." Swallowmon said. "This will help us detect any trouble?"
"Why would we need that when Mistymon believes he's protecting his world from us?" Ponymon questioned.
"It's not just for Mistymon. Maybe we can use it to track those other two." Ponymon said.
"You mean Sid Kaguma and Panmon." Kudamon said. "Those two are still out there, and they could still be attacking innocent digimon. If we're going to convince Mistymon that humans and digimon don't have to be enemies, we must do something about the likes of them."
"And it looks like we might get a chance." Mary said as she already spotted something. "It looks like there's something already going on in the Digital World. Should we check it out?"
"I think we should." Haru said. "Let's show what we've..." Just as they were all about to take a dive in, they heard the door open up and saw that someone found them. That someone happened to be Yolei.
"Um... Hello there." Yolei greeted. All of them felt like they were busted.
"Wait. You're the woman I ran into earlier." Haru said.
"Hey, he said he was sorry." Dorumon said.
"It's not about that." Hawkmon said as he showed himself with all of them surprised to see another digimon. "We just didn't get the chance to introduce ourselves to fellow new digidestined."
"A talking bird?!" Taka said.
"That's no bird. That's a digimon." Ponymon said.
"It's nice to meet all of you guys. My name is Yolei and this is Hawkmon."
"Oh! Yolei! I've heard of you from Cody." Ben said. "He told me you were studying abroad. You've been to Spain, India, and more. What brings you back to Japan?"
"Funny you should say that. It's you guys." Yolei said. "Ken and the others have been telling me all about you. I've been rather curious about you guys, and want to know more about those new digivices and you guys. I would love to know more about these amazing digivices of yours. Plus, if you have them, there must be something going on in the Digital World that might require it."
"You're just in time. We noticed that there's something going on in the Digital World." Taka said. "I don't suppose an old pro like you would like to tag along, would you?"
"Yeah. I would love to go." Yolei said.
"We are well aware of this Mistymon, and he is looking for trouble, we'll be more than glad to give it to him." Hawkmon said.
"Really? Another visitor?" Amanda complained.
"Don't be rude, Amanda. It's great that an old pro is coming along." Labramon said.
"If you keep calling me old when I'm only in my twenties, I might not." Yolei said. "Enough talk. Since the Digital World is in the area, let's go!" She said as she was excited to go. "So, are you going to show me how you open a gate? I hear it's different."
"Just watch." Ben said. He took his digivice and showed Yolei how they open a gate. This was going to be enjoyable for Yolei.
...
The Digital World
"And just like that, we're here." Ben said as they all stepped right in.
"Wow. That's pretty impressive." Yolei said. "Being in that classroom and traveling here brings back a lot of memories."
"Yeah? Does this bring back memories?" Haru said as he found something strange. They were in the middle of an area of a warm climate, but he found something strange. There was ice. There was patches of ice around the area.
"What's all this ice doing here?" Ponymon questioned.
"This does not look good, but at least we found the abnormality." Swallowmon said.
"This clearly isn't natural. Someone had to have done this." Hawkmon said.
"Can't be Mistymon's doing. It doesn't seem like his style when he's trying to protect the Digital World." Amanda said. "Couldn't have been Sid and Panmon either. They weren't capable of creating ice the last time we saw them."
"Something is going on around here and we need to find it." Haru said. "Since Yolei and Hawkmon have joined us, I think it might be safe if we split-up into pairs so we can watch each other's backs." That all sounded good to the others. "Mary, you're with me."
"I guess I'll go with Taka." Ben said.
"Wait. Does that mean you're leaving me the old pro?" Amanda questioned as she didn't like it.
"What did I say about calling me that?" Yolei questioned.
"You'll be fine, Amanda, and maybe she can get you to lighten up. We better get going." Haru said as all of them broke into their teams and went their own way, but Amanda wasn't really like this at all. What none of them noticed was that IceDevimon was already there and he was trying to decide which one of them he wants to take down.
...
Amanda
Amanda and Yolei had a look around the Digital World to try and find the one responsible. Although, Yolei was getting the feeling that Amanda wasn't all that happy about even being here.
"Any idea who could have caused this ice?" Labramon questioned.
"Could be a number of digimon." Hawkmon said.
"Let's just find it and get this over with." Amanda said.
"Are you in a hurry to get home or something?" Yolei asked.
"No. I just don't want to be here any longer than I have to. I just want to be done with this." Amanda claimed.
"That seems like a sunny attitude." Yolei sarcastically claimed.
"Amanda is just like this." Labramon said. "We might not have been partners for very long, but it does seem like she keeps everyone at a distance. I had to admit that it's rather worrisome. I overheard her aunt and uncle talking and worried how she doesn't socialize with others. That's why when they drove by her school earlier and were happy to see her with Haru."
"Knock it off, Labramon. Why are you sharing my life story when it has nothing to do with them...or you." Amanda said as she was getting rather annoyed with Labramon thinking he said too much.
"Take it easy, Amanda." Yolei said. "Labramon is your partner, and is just worried about you."
"Yeah right." Amanda said.
"What? Is it really so hard to believe that your own digimon partner cares about you?" Yolei said.
"Let's get something straight." Amanda said as she turned to them. "I'm not buying this whole partner thing you all are going on about." She looked down at Labramon like she was directing this to him. "Why would a digimon care what I do? If I hadn't come to this world in the first place, I never would have found my partner. I never said I wanted one in the first place. Why would a creature that knows nothing about me want anything to do with me?" She was being cold and was now really to act like she doesn't care. She's being as cold as the ice around them.
"You say that, but I don't believe it." Labramon said as he wasn't offended by any of it. "If you don't care, why would you come here in the first place? I think maybe you do care, but for some reason you don't want to show it. It's best to be honest with yourself. You don't let people get close, and it seems like you are scared to. Something like that doesn't just naturally develop. Something had to have happened to you." There actually was as Amanda did a quick look back. The pain of someone close to her gone...and others ridiculing her, treating her badly, and wanting nothing to do with her. "What happened, Amanda? You can talk to me."
"It's really none of your business." Amanda said. "Maybe it was a mistake to come here." She turned away and tried to leave Labramon behind. Whatever is going on with her, she doesn't want to discuss it with anyone, not even her digimon partner.
"Hold it!" Yolei said as she grabbed Amanda's shoulder. "There's no reason to talk like that when all Labramon was doing was trying to get you to open up. He cares about you and just wants you to know that. Why are you acting like that's a bad thing? Do you really believe Labramon doesn't care about you?"
"I said it's none of your business." Amanda said.
"I think maybe Labramon was right. I think you do care, but you don't want to show it for some reason." Yolei said. "I understand if it's because this whole thing is hard for you. I get that. This all started for me around ten years ago. When I first got here, I was overwhelmed with how scary this all could be. There were times I wasn't sure if I could keep doing this. Still, I stuck around because I had friends that encouraged me to keep going. They needed me, and I needed them. Whatever it is you're dealing with, you just need to understand that you don't have to face any of it alone. A good way to start is to open up with others and be honest. I mean, look at me, I don't have much problem telling people what I really think."
"Well, that says something about you, but not about me." Amanda said as she was being stubborn about this.
"It seems like we've reached a cold point in your little relationship." All of them looked up and saw IceDevimon float down to them.
"Oh no! It's IceDevimon!" Labramon said.
Digimon Analyzer (Labramon): IceDevimon is one frozen fiend. The only thing that's colder than him would be his attacks like Frozen Claw Tundra Freeze.
"He must have been the one responsible for all this ice." Hawkmon said.
"Why would you do something like this?" Yolei questioned.
"To lure you humans to me, and you took the bait. I knew something like this might get your attention." IceDevimon said. "Now that it has, it's time I gave you a real cold shoulder." That was when he started his attack by unleashing a series of icicles at them, but they all moved out of the way with Hawkmon and Labramon getting ready for a fight.
"Hawkmon digivolve to...Aquilamon"
"Labramon digivolve to...Dobermon"
The two digimon went right at IceDevimon to try and put a stop to him. Dobermon leaped right at IceDevimon, but he took his claw and smashed it right against Dobermon's face and knocked him to the ground.
"Black Beams!" Dobermon tried firing beams from the spikes on his collar, but IceDevimon kept flying around and was avoiding each attack thrown at him.
"Grand Horn!" Aquilamon flew right at IceDevimon with his horns, but IceDevimon moved out of the way and got right over him. IceDevimon unleashed a series of ice attacks at him again and blasted him rather hard. This was shaping to be rather bad for them.
"Amanda!" Amanda and Yolei looked and saw Haru and the others hurrying to help them out.
"He looks like one cold brute." Dorumon said.
"So I say we melt that cold heart." Kudamon said as all of the digimon charged right at him.
"I don't think so." IceDevimon claimed.
"Tundra Freeze!" He unleashed beams from his eyes and hit all four of them at once and caused all four of them to be frozen in ice.
"Yikes! That frozen freak froze them all solid!" Taka said. All of them hurried to get their digimon out of there, but IceDevimon has proven to be one powerful digimon.
"This is more enjoyable than I thought." IceDevimon claimed. "The reason I decided to help out Mistymon was to cause a little mayhem, but I suppose I should keep my end of the deal to eliminate you humans." He said as he looked around and had his eyes on Amanda. "I think I'll start with you."
"Frozen Claw!"
"Amanda!" Yolei called as IceDevimon flew right at Amanda with his claw right out to attack amanda. Amanda was rather scared and couldn't really move with IceDevimon's attack coming right at her. She is in real trouble with this one.
"No!" Dobermon called as he jumped in the way and tackled IceDevimon away from her. Dobermon tried to hold him down, but IceDevimon threw him right off and against the ground. IceDevimon didn't stop there as he tried to impale his claw through Dobermon, but Dobermon kept rolling around to avoid each claw strike at him, but IceDevimon had him pinned.
"Dobermon!" Amanda called.
"See that? Dobermon just risked himself to help you. If that doesn't say he cares, I don't know what does." Yolei said. "Right now, you seem to care because you're scared of what might happen. Are you really saying you don't care about him?"
'Right... This has nothing to do with me. I shouldn't care.' Amanda thought. That's what she was telling herself, but something in her wouldn't accept that. Seeing Dobermon try to survive after he just tried to save her, she couldn't just sit and watch, especially if IceDevimon finishes him. She looked around and spotted a broken branch. She grabbed it and just went for it.
"Amanda! Wait!" Yolei called, but she didn't stop. Dobermon did his best to avoid IceDevimon's attacks, but IceDevimon pinned him down as he placed his foot on him and kept him from going anywhere. He didn't get the chance to do anything as Amanda smashed the branch against IceDevimon to stop him.
"Big mistake." IceDevimon said as he turned to her and planned to finish her off.
"No!" Dobermon called as he acted fast with him using his fangs and claws right on IceDevimon and tore through his data. With IceDevimon screaming in pain, he burst into data and was defeated. Once IceDevimon was defeated, all of the ice began to broke apart and freed the captured digimon.
"Are you guys okay?" Mary asked.
"Talk about giving someone the cold treatment." Dorumon joked.
"Bad joke. Yep, they're fine." Haru said.
"And you have Amanda and Dobermon to thank for that." Yolei said was she was most pleased with Amanda on what she just did.
"Amanda..." Dobermon said. "Why did you put yourself in danger like that?" He asked, but Amanda didn't have a good answer to it. "I thought you didn't care."
"I... I don't know." Amanda said. "I didn't really think, just acted."
"You did it because you do care." Dobermon said, but Amanda isn't exactly fond of talking about it. "It's okay, Amanda. We don't have to talk about it if you really don't want to. Just know that no matter what, I will be there for you. Can you understand that?" Amanda has been on her own for so long. For the first time, she found someone that really cares for her. It might be hard, but she accepted it instead of fighting it as she placed her hand against Dobermon's face.
"I think...I'm starting to." Amanda admitted. The others were glad to hear that as it means Amanda can connect with them. Yolei is glad to see that herself and is starting to think Amanda really is an interesting one.
To Be Continued...
It looks like Amanda is starting to let her walls down. See how more she'll develop on Digimon Digital Monsters.
