Weiss approached the shrine after she climbed down the tower, rubbing her chin in curiosity before seeing a small pedestal near it. Her Sheikah Slate "booped" to get her attention. She pulled it out and looked, seeing it was asking her to put it on the pedestal.

She put it on the pedestal, to which the shrine changed color and opened up a door. She proceeded to walk into it, where the elevator descended underground.

BGM: Shrine (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)

Weiss stepped out after she was brought to a trial. She looked around at the technologic area around her, causing her to open her mouth in awe.

"To you who sets foot in this shrine… I am Oman Au. In the name of the Goddess Hylia, I offer this trial."

Magnesis Trial

The words echoed in Weiss's head.

"Magnesis… okay…?"

Weiss turned to a pedestal and approached it, putting her Sheikah Slate on it. The pillar above it lit up and dropped some sort of liquid into the Sheikah Slate, activating a rune inside of the slate.

Weiss curiously looked at the Magnesis rune and turned her attention to the metal doors on the ground. She used the Magnesis to lift up a metal door and revealed a secret passage.

"Oh!" Weiss smiled, deactivating the Magnesis.

CLANG!

Weiss jumped by the loud noise as the metal door had slammed into the ground. Her ears rung a bit and made a mental note to gently put them to the ground.

She hopped down and walked through the passageway until she climbed up and saw a metal block wedged into a wall of blocks. She smiled and used the Magnesis to push it forward and knocked the wall down…

…And got hit with a laser.

"Ooof!" She grunted as she winced to see who was responsible for that.

BGM: Shrine Battle (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)

The culprit was a small Shrine Guardian, slowly approaching her.

"What the heck are you…?" She wondered as it fired a small laser again, hitting her in the shoulder. "Mmmmph! Alright…"

She pulled out the axe that she had retrieved after making those Bokoblins explode. She immediately charged ahead and slashed it, but the Shrine Guardian jumped away and fired a laser at her ankle.

With a wince, Weiss continued to attack it but the Shrine Guardian kept jumping away. It scratched the floor, as if it was taunting her. Weiss pulled out her bow and launched a fire arrow, but it side stepped and continued to attack in response, though Weiss was able to dodge the lasers this time.

The Shrine Guardian charged up a laser as Weiss glanced over at the metal block, having an idea. She immediately dove behind it while the Shrine Guardian fired the laser. Then Weiss used Magnesis to push the block forward, however the Shrine Guardian jumped up on top of it.

With a growl, Weiss lifted the block into the air as the Shrine Guardian was ready to fire another laser… until Weiss flipped it around and shoved the metal block into the ground, crushing the Metal Guardian as it let go.

It dazily flipped itself over and charged a laser at Weiss, but she was still holding the metal block and proceeded to crush it several times to the point the Shrine Guardian was nothing but scrap metal.

Resume Shrine BGM

Weiss smirked as she walked to what was left of the robot and picked up a few of its machinery, having a feeling it could prove useful later. She continued to walk through while also using some metal as platforms to walk between the gaps.

She quickly stopped to see a treasure chest on a platform. She used the Magnesis to pull it down toward her after curiously wondering if she could reach it. Once she brought it over, she opened it up to find a Traveler's Bow.

With a smile, Weiss put the bow over her shoulder and opened the doors up with Magnesis, finding a shrine behind it as she curiously approached it.

A Sheikah symbol appeared in front of her, to which Weiss softly touched it. The "barrier" around the shrine shattered the moment she touched it.

"You have proven to possess the resolve of a true hero. I am Oman Au, the creator of this trial. I am a humble monk, blessed with the sight of Goddess Hylia and dedicated to helping those who seek to defeat Ganon. With your arrival, my duty is now fulfilled. In the name of Goddess Hylia, allow me to bestow this gift upon you… please accept this Spirit Orb."

A Spirit Orb came out of the monk, and floated its way over into Weiss's chest, where it was absorbed immediately after. She immediately felt all of her wounds being healed from that obnoxious little robot.

"May the goddess smile upon you."

The monk disappeared as Weiss found the exit nearby and walked into it, causing the elevator to lift her back up to the surface.

BGM: Field - Day (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)

Weiss walked out, and the first thing she saw was the old man gliding down to her with the Paraglider. "Ack!" She yelped as she jumped.

"Ohohoho! I didn't mean to startle you." He said as he landed. "I see that you have a Spirit Orb."

"...How did you know?"

"Clairvoyance!" He joked. "But seriously, I'd wager it being a lucky guess."

Weiss sweatdropped. "I… see."

"Now then, you know what's great about these towers? You can look around and see things from higher up. Go on and take a look for yourself. Once you find the three shrines from up there, you can mark them with your Sheikah Slate."

"Okay." Weiss nodded as she started to climb up the tower again, using the platforms to rest inbetween before she made her way to the top once more. She sat down to rest, sighing deeply. "Was I always this out of shape…?"

She stood back up and looked around, using her Sheikah Slate as binoculars and seeing where the three other shrines were located, proceeding to mark them as she found them.

The shrine that was closest to her was near some ruins.

"Good work." The old man said.

"Gah! Where did you come from?! And where's that old woman?"

"She's busy examining some things over the hill." He pointed toward to where she was.

"With all of that snow?"

"Yes."

"Good to know." Weiss nodded. "...You think you have a spare glider thing I could use?"

"Sorry, this is the only one I have. Though perhaps I could give it to you if you complete the other three shrines."

Weiss nodded. "Okay." She climbed down the tower and walked over to where the ruins were at, guiding her away around while also curiously looking at several broken down Guardian Stalkers. She rummaged through them and pulled out some scrap before putting them away.

She then approached one of them… only for it to come to life.

BGM: Decayed Guardian Battle (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)

"What the…?!" Weiss said in surprise as the Guardian turned to face her, slowly starting to charge up its laser. Weiss quickly scrambled out of the way and hid behind a deceased Guardian right as the laser fired.

The resulting explosion made Weiss pale, and also made her realize that the Guardian she faced in the first shrine was just a mere baby.

"There is no way I am surviving that." She whimpered as she looked at her Sheikah Slate and the cover she was hiding behind. She immediately used the deceased Guardian as a shield and slowly moved forward with the Guardian glaring at what was going on, yet curious to wonder how its dead companion is moving in such an odd way.

By the time Weiss made her way to a wall, she let out a groan. Did not think this through… She thought as she turned to the wall where a small flashback occurred to where she was climbing a wall in Castle Town with only her bare hands.

Weiss clenched her fists and started to climb the wall, determined to get away from this robotic monster. The Guardian spotted her and started to charge up, only for Weiss to vault over the wall.

The decayed Guardian stared at the wall for a few seconds before slowly deactivating.

"Phew…" Weiss sighed with relief as she turned around to find the Shrine and walked in a few seconds later.

BGM: Shrine

"To you who sets foot in this shrine… I am Ja Baij. In the name of the Goddess Hylia, I offer this trial."

Bomb Trial

Weiss walked over to the pedestal where another teardrop landed on the Sheikah Slate, where two runes activated in the Slate.

Remote Bombs. One was a ball and one was a cube.

Weiss summoned the ball bomb as she rolled it over to the rock walls. She then detonated it to which it exploded and destroyed the walls.

With a raised eyebrow, she walked through, destroying more rock walls along the way while also getting a Traveler's Claymore, where she strapped it to her side and also noting that everything was starting to weigh her down.

"Mmmph… a little heavy…" Weiss mumbled as she climbed up a ladder and saw a moving platform. She placed the cube bomb on the platform as it moved over to the rock wall and blew up by Weiss's detonation.

She hopped on the platform and moved her way through where she saw near the end of the trial in front of her, but also noticed some pillars launching forward. She walked to the left, seeing a ball being launched back and forth, while one pillar was aimed directly at a chest.

She placed a bomb on the pillar as it launched its way toward the chest and Weiss detonated it, but it wasn't destroyed. She had an idea and climbed into it, where it launched her toward the chest.

"Waaaaah!" She yelped. "Bad ideeeeeaaaaa!" She exclaimed, only to land softly near the chest. "...Oh. That wasn't so bad." She said as she opened up the chest to find some Amber. She scratched her head at the sight of it before shrugging it off and walked the other way.

She noticed a tube meant for the ball bomb, so she put it in as it rolled through and softly stopped at the launching pillar… where it launched it toward a rock wall. Upon detonation, Weiss proceeded to climb the ladder and walked through what was left of the wall and made her way to Ja Baij's shrine.

BGM: Field - Day

Once she got out, she decided to get back at that Guardian and climbed the wall, throwing a few Remote Bombs at the Guardian. She whistled to get its attention, and then she detonated the bombs.

"Ha!" She grinned… only for the grin to disappear as the Remote bombs hardly did a thing to it. She immediately hopped down right as the laser was fired, seeing it blast high into the sky where it slammed right into a flock of Keese minding their own business, destroying two thirds of it.

"Okay… I need something a lot stronger than that." She muttered as she walked around, only to find the Old Man's hut as he was cooking some food.

"Would you like some?" He asked.

"No thanks, I'm good."

Her stomach rumbled, causing her to blush.

"Okay, maybe just a snack."

"Help yourself." He said as Weiss dug into a few baked apples. "You know, you can mix anything you'd want… heck, you could even make yourself some cool weather resistant food if you'd like. The cold weather in the snow is unforgiving."

"I'll keep that in mind." Weiss nodded, having her fill as she walked off and up the hill where the snow awaited her. She glanced at a few hot peppers growing near it as she picked them and walked through the snow, expecting to feel frozen the moment she entered the snowy atmosphere.

BGM: Mount Hylia (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)

However, to her surprise… the snowy atmosphere felt like a gentle hug. She dropped the peppers and walked through the snow. The snow felt like a hug on her feet. The cool air, the blissful silence… it all felt… normal for her.

She should be freezing, yet she couldn't help but admire how she felt like she was in her element.

"You know-"

"Ack!" Weiss yelped as the Old Woman approached. "What is with you people?"

"Apologies, didn't mean to startle you. Anyway… there was an old tale long ago about a girl being born on Mount Lanayru. She lived with her family there for quite some time. While most folk froze to death without proper clothing, this family had grown accustomed to it. Not even the frozen waters would deter them as they would swim in them without issue. In time, they were known as the "Lanayrans Who Refused to Freeze" amongst Hyrule. Though, unfortunately, that village has ceased to exist alongside these people."

"So why am I not freezing to death? The snow feels like I'm right at home."

"Some people are just… gifted, to say the least." She responded. "Though, there was a rumor they were chosen to act as the King's Court mages, as they were also experienced with elemental magic."

"Good to know… it's too bad they're extinct."

"I wouldn't go that far."

Weiss turned to the old woman with a raised eyebrow before shrugging it off, heading to the nearest shrine while the old woman watched on.

Weiss approached the frozen river and hesitantly decided to dip her toe in it. To her surprise, the frozen water didn't feel so frozen. It felt absolutely pleasant for her. She swam through the water and climbed out on the other side.

The water froze on her skin, yet the ice felt like an extra security blanket for her. She felt extra protected as she walked through the snowy regions, soon finding the shrine after climbing a few cliffs and dropping Remote bombs on some Bokoblin camps, snagging their food in the process just to rub salt in the wound.

She walked into the shrine not a moment later.

Stasis Trial

"Alright, what are we doing here…" Weiss said as she assessed the situation regarding a rotating platform. She glanced over at the pedestal and made her way over, and once the tear dropped into the Sheikah Slate, she looked at the Rune appearing before her.

"Stasis…?" She wondered as she looked at the gear that was turning the platform. She decided to use it on the gear, to which it stopped the platform. She walked through the platform while also curiously wondering what that "counting down" noise was.

After she crossed, the "counting down" increased and went faster until the stasis deactivated, causing the platform to move once more. She looked down to see the Stasis rune recharging.

"Ooooh, okay." She nodded as she walked toward the ramp with a never ending supply of large balls rolling down the ramps. She snuck her way between them and dove for the chest before the large ball could drop down and crush her.

She opened the chest, finding a Traveler's Shield as she immediately equipped it and turned around, quickly running down the ramp before making a hard left, then as she approached the last obstacle that was a large ball blocking her way… an idea came to her as she used Stasis on the ball and swung her axe on it.

A large arrow pointed to where the ball was going to go, as she tilted her head as she kept swinging. Once she finished, she backed up… and once Stasis deactivated, it rolled off on its own and into the abyss.

"...Huh!" Weiss mused as she walked through the walkway before making her way over to Owa Daim's shrine.

Resume Mount Hylia BGM

Once she walked out, she made her way over to the last shrine, climbing up cliffs for shortcuts and sliding down the small frozen hills for fun. A few Ice Keese approached her and tackled her to freeze her, but all they did was give her a few small bumps. They shrieked in surprise as Weiss batted them away with the Traveler's Sword.

She continued toward the shrine as she found a small camp of three Bokoblins resting by the fire along with a large slab of meat. She pulled out a Remote Bomb and threw it at the camp, causing them to fly after the detonation as they landed face first into the snow where the cold atmosphere froze them stiff, all the while Weiss pulled the meat away from the fire and had herself a hot snack while climbing to the shrine.

Once she finished her snack, she walked straight for the shrine.

Cryonis Trial

Weiss walked over to the pedestal, and looked at the new rune after it was dropped into the Sheikah Slate. "...Cryonis?"

She looked directly at the water and decided to use it, where a pillar of ice rose from the shallow water. She immediately hopped on it and hopped over, making her way through the water and used Cryonis to lift up a gate.

"Oh, I like this." She chuckled as she turned the corner as she was immediately greeted with a Shrine Guardian. She smiled and used Cryonsis below the Guardian, where it was punched into the air and came crashing down on its head, stunning it for a few seconds… but it was enough time for Weiss to shove the Traveler's Sword through its underbelly to destroy it.

Once it exploded, she gathered up the parts and used the ice pillars to make her way up to a chest, pulling out a Traveler's Spear that she strapped on her back. "Running out of room…" She mumbled as she hopped down, then saw a seesaw platform where she used the Cryonis to make it a ramp.

She smiled and walked up the ramp, finding Keh Namut at the end and made her way over to the monk.

When she walked out, she saw the two old people waiting for her. "Well done, young one. Now, make your way to the Temple of Time where we will explain everything." The old man said.

"We'll be waiting for you." The old woman responded, and before Weiss could say anything, both of them disappeared before her eyes.

"Huh?! Wait!" Weiss called out before sighing. "Okay, there has to be a shortcut to the Temple of Time." She said as she looked through the Sheikah Slate, finding Oman Au's shrine. "Wonder what will happen if I touched this spo-"

She was immediately met with glowing blue energy. "Whoa! What the-"

She immediately "teleported" her way over to the shrine.

"Uuuugh… okay… what the hell…?" Weiss wondered as she gagged. Once she regained her composure and her bearings, she made her way to the Temple of Time.

As she made her way inside, she noticed the Hylia statue glowing brightly. She approached the statue out of curiosity.

"I sense four Spirit Orbs from you. Allow me to restore your strength."

At that moment, an aura surrounded Weiss as she closed her eyes. She immediately felt herself a little stronger, not to mention she felt as if her stamina was given a little boost as well.

"Up here!" A voice called out as Weiss looked up to see the Old Woman on the roof of the temple. "Make your way up the ladder and meet us at the far end!"

"...What ladder?" Weiss wondered as she walked through the ruins and found a ladder attached to the wall. "Oh, that ladder." She nodded as she climbed up and made her way to the roof. She then made her way over to the lookout tower while balancing herself before she caught up with the two old folk.

"Hahaha! Well done, young lady." The old man spoke. "Now, then. The time has come to show you who we really are. I was King Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule. I was… the last leader of Hyrule. A kingdom which no longer exists…"

"And I… was one of the last Court Mages serving King Rhoam. My name was none other than Willow Schnee."

A light glowed brightly, forcing Weiss to cover her eyes. Once the light stopped, she would see Rhoam and Willow in their respective clothing.

BGM: The Last King of Hyrule (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)

Weiss wanted to say something, but words failed to come out of her mouth as she was too much in awe of what she was seeing.

"The Great Calamity was merciless-" Rhoam began. "It devastated everything in its path, lo, a century ago. It was then that our lives were taken away from us. And since that time, here we have remained, in spirit form."

"We did not think it wise to overwhelm you while your memory was still fragile." Willow explained. "So rather than that, we thought it was best to assume temporary forms. Forgive us…"

"No, no… you guys had your reasons." Weiss reassured them.

Rhoam nodded before turning his attention to Hyrule Castle. "I think you are now ready… ready to hear what happened one hundred years ago."

End BGM

"To know Calamity Ganon's true form, one must know the story from an age long past." Rhoam began. "The demon king was born into this kingdom, but his transformation into Malice created the horror you see now. Stories of Ganon were passed from generation to generation in the form of legends and fairy tales. But there was also… a prophecy. The signs of a resurrection of Calamity Ganon are clear. And the power to oppose it lies dormant beneath the ground."

"We decided to heed the prophecy and began excavating large areas of land." Willow continued. "It wasn't long before we discovered several ancient relics made by the hands of our distant ancestors. These relics, the Divine Beasts, were giant machines piloted by warriors. We also found the Guardians, an army of mechanical soldiers who fought autonomously. This coincided with ancient legends, oft repeated throughout the land."

"We also learned of a princess with a sacred power and her appointed knight, chosen by the sword that seals the darkness. It was they who sealed Ganon away using the power of these ancient relics." Rhoam continued. "One hundred years ago, there was a princess set to inherit a sacred power and a skilled mage knight by her side. It was clear that we must follow our ancestor's path. We selected four skilled individuals from across Hyrule and tasked them with the duty of piloting the Divine Beasts."

"With the princess as their commander, we dubbed these pilots Champions-" Willow continued. "A name that would solidify their unique bond. The princess, her appointed mage knight, and the rest of the Champions were on the brink of sealing away Ganon…"

"But nay…" Rhoam continued grimly. "Ganon was cunning, and he responded with a plan beyond our imagining. He appeared from deep below Hyrule Castle, seized control of the Guardians and the Divine Beasts… and turned them against us. The Champions lost their lives. Those residing in the castle as well. The appointed mage knight, gravely wounded, collapsed while defending the princess. And thus, the Kingdom of Hyrule was devastated absolutely by Calamity Ganon."

"However…" Willow continued. "The princess survived… to face Ganon alone."

"Weiss… you are our final hope… the fate of Hyrule rests with you!"

The words echoed in Weiss's mind. "Nnngh…"

BGM: A King's Request (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)

"That princess was my own daughter…" Rhoam said. "My dear Ruby…"

"That courageous mage knight who protected her right up to the very end… was my very own daughter." Willow turned to Weiss. "You."

"Huh?! You're… my mother…? How?"

"I know it is a lot to take in, but I know you will remember it all when the time is right…" Willow said softly. "But just know you fought valiantly when your fate took an unfortunate turn. And then… you were taken to the Shrine of Resurrection. Here you stand revitalized… a hundred years later."

"The words of guidance you have been hearing since your awakening are from Princess Ruby herself. Even now, as she works to restrain Ganon from within Hyrule Castle, she calls out for your help. However, my daughter's power will soon be exhausted. Once that happens, Ganon will freely regenerate himself and nothing will stop him from consuming our land. Considering that we could not save our own kingdom… we have no right to ask of this to you, Weiss… but we are powerless here. You must save her… my daughter. And do what it takes to annihilate Ganon."

"Somehow, Ganon has maintained control of all four Divine Beasts, as well as those Guardians swarming around Hyrule Castle. I believe it would be quite reckless of you to head directly to the castle at this point." Willow muttered. "I suggest… that you make your way east out to one of the villages in the wilderness. Follow the road to Kakariko Village… there you will find the elder, Impa. She will tell you more about the path that lies ahead."

"Consult the map on your Sheikah Slate for the precise location of Kakariko Village. Make your way past the twin summits of the Dueling Peaks. From there, follow the road as it proceeds north…"

"Right…" Weiss nodded.

"Oh, and I believe I have something for you." Rhoam said, handing her the Paraglider. "Your mother has something for you as well."

Weiss turned to Willow. "That story you said to me earlier… am I Lanayran?"

"You are. The truth is, I wasn't fully truthful about that story. We come from a long lineage of Court Mages that served Hyrule's royalty. How we are immune to the cold is… well, it's a tradition at best. When the Lanayran mother bears a child, she is to go to Lanayru Mountain to an abandoned village where she will train her child to become used to the cold. Once the child grows accustomed to it and bears no struggle, then that is where they learn magic."

"...Is it immediate? Like after they were born?"

"Oh heavens no, it's a certain age."

"Oh, okay. That makes me feel better."

"As soon as the child has mastered all the elements, they return back strong as ever. Usually, the process takes months to over a year while another Court Mage takes their place for the time being. But you… you had a talent. It took you about a few weeks to learn it all, and normally, it's about five to six months before they fully mastered it. Heck, it took me a few months to learn fire magic and yet you were able to figure it out right away."

"I guess I'm gifted… but I'm curious. What exactly is a Mage Knight?"

"A Mage Knight is someone who excels in both magic and weapons, though they may simply use magic if they so desire. It doesn't hurt to mix things up a bit."

"So what do I have under my repertoire?"

"I am only able to grant you two magical abilities. One is ice magic. The other? It's hereditary and only a Schnee may learn it." Willow explained, extending her hand out as magic swirled around her. "In time, you'll relearn your other magical capabilities. Now pull out your hand and concentrate."

Weiss did so, concentrating on the magic… when suddenly, an ice glyph appeared before her. "Whoa!"

"Glyphs. Pretty neat, isn't it?" Willow smiled. "Now, there's something else that I had created."

She pulled out a bag. "This right here is an item bag. Here, you'll be able to store anything in it… and I do mean anything, I enchanted it to where it's completely bottomless. It will give you everything you need just by thinking of it."

"Okay… now when you say "anything"..."

"Oh, you know, the usual… like potions, books, food, weapons, shields, staffs, tents, cauldrons, bikes, picnic tables, absurdly huge weapons-"

"...I think you've lost her." Rhoam said as Willow looked up to see Weiss having a massive 'WTF" expression on her face.

"...Where did I lose you?"

"Can you repeat that last bit after staffs? I swear I heard things that are unbelievable."

"Trust me, Weiss… it's just the tip of the iceberg."

"Uh-huh. What's next, I can put a small boat in there?" Weiss joked, only to which Willow awkwardly rubbed her arm. "Oh come on, I was joking!"

"As I said…"

Weiss sighed. "Okay. While I'm still trying to make sense that you are my mother… I'll do what I can to save Hyrule and Ruby."

"That's our girl." Rhoam smiled. "Take care." He said as he disappeared while Willow gave Weiss a hug before disappearing as well.

Weiss immediately put her weapons in her bag, seeing them immediately disappear inside. "...Wonder if you can fit a whole person inside of it." She snarked as she grabbed her Paraglider and looked at the Dueling Peaks in the distance.

She climbed down and walked off, soon finding herself at the edge of the Great Plateau. With a deep breath, she hopped down and used her paraglider to safely descend to the bottom, her feet touching the grass as she put her paraglider away.

"Alright… let's go meet this Impa lady."

Sorry, Pokemon. You make it too easy to poke fun at your inventory. ...Seriously though, Galarian and Paldean backpacks just must be built different or something.
