Harry and Ron were now refusing to talk to me or Hermione, which was a big setback. I knew I had been really close to getting into a relationship with Harry, but now, he wouldn't even look me in the eyes. It also wasn't nice or easy to have your own brother avoiding you like that, as Ron was. Hermione had been mostly hiding out in the library, working, so that was hardly somewhere I wanted to spend most of my time. All in all, I was rather happy when classes resumed, as that meant Demelza and Amy had returned.
"Hermione did the right thing" said Demelza when I told them what had happened during lunch. "It's only right that a gift with no obvious sender gets checked like that"
"All the same though, it must suck to have a broom like that for a few hours and then not know if you'll ever see it again. I feel for Harry somewhat" said Amy
"So, umm, what's going on with Sarah then" Demelza asked
Amy sighed. "Well, we cleared out her room a few days ago. She came along with Avery's mother to get all her stuff, and I assume she's living with them now. Doubt I'll ever see her at home again, and good riddance to be honest. She's chosen her path, it's one of no return!"
Amy gave a sad glance towards the Slytherin table. I followed it, and saw Sarah chatting happily with the dark trio.
"Well at least you have me" said Andrew, sliding down into the seat next to Amy, and wrapping his arm around her shoulders.
"Yes, and I'm making sure you never get away" Amy replied, leaning her head onto Andrew's shoulder.
"What, holding me hostage now are you?" he teased
"Yes, I am afraid you cannot escape, Mr Godden" she said in a pretend evil voice, and they both laughed.
I felt a stab of jealously and anger at that point, as only a few days previously I had been acting all flirtatiously with Harry, and now I couldn't even find the guy most days, yet here Amy was, as happy as can be with her boyfriend.
"Well at least you two are happy" I said bitterly.
"What do you mean?" said Andrew
I told him about the Firebolt fiasco
"Ginny, you do realise who you're talking to right?" interjected Amy savagely. "He's MY boyfriend, and I'm someone who has lost their mother, has a mentally deranged father, and a sister who has left for the dark side! I think I deserve what I've got, thank you very much!"
"Yeah mate, you really do need to learn to think before you speak" added Demelza. "This isn't the first time something like this has happened"
I bit my lip. They were right of course. I still had brothers who loved me, and both of my parents were mentally sane.
It was therefore with slight awkwardness that we headed to Charms, where today we were working on Tarantallegra, the dancing feet spell. As you can imagine, it was a rather chaotic class. It was a relief that Flitwick had had the foresight to move all the tables up against the walls, and to tell us to leave our bags near the back of the room.
Despite the chaos, it was undeniably funny, with lots of people colliding and tripping over each other. Flitwick had cast a spell on the floor to make it very soft, so no one was hurt by any of this.
There was one moment though, which wasn't funny at all. I collided with Magda and we both fell over, with me landing on top of her. We ended up face to face, and that was the moment where Magda chose to sneeze. Her waste went all over my face, absolutely disgusting!
I removed it straight away. Magda however, continued to sneeze, and she began to feel worse and worse as the day went on, but she didn't go to the hospital wing. She instead insisted that she just needed to rest in our dormitory, as she felt it was either a bad cold or the onset of flu. We didn't want to get whatever she had though, so Demelza, Amy and I decided to catch up with Hermione in her dormitory.
"Do you think Ron and Harry will come around?" Demelza asked
"Oh of course they will, they always do, I'm not worried. The only thing I am wondering about is what will trigger their return. I am guessing it will be their excitement if Harry gets his broom back, declared clean" said Hermione.
"What if he doesn't get it back?" I said
"Well, then we'll be proved right, so they will thank us for saving Harry's life. How were your Christmases anyway?".
Hermione looked at Demelza and Amy.
"Well, I thought Iceland was great. Fascinating history, and the Northern Lights were beautiful" said Demelza. "We went by Muggle plane too. I must say, it's much more comfortable than flying a broom, though brooms are more fun".
Amy however, was obviously more solemn.
"Sarah won her case. She moved out and now lives with Avery. To be honest, I'll probably start spending Christmas here at Hogwarts from now on, it'll be much more fun than at home"
Hermione bit her lip. "That's horrible. I'm really sorry all this misfortune has come to the Bagman Family" she said
"Yeah, I don't know who decided to curse us or what they felt we'd done to deserve it"
Trying to cheer Amy up, I said "Hey, at least Wimbourne are still walking the league. You guys could have it won by February at this rate"
It was true. Wimborne were still the only team with a 100 percent record in the league this season, and it was difficult to see who would be able to stop them. This had the desired effect on Amy.
"Oh yes, it's a joy to witness. The Wasps are one of the only things keeping me going at the moment, alongside Andrew of course"
"I really want to go to see Portree play soon" said Hermione. "I've decided they're the team I support. Hopefully we still have Eva Smacktold by that point"
"We play Portree soon" I said "we should listen to that together, it'll be very interesting"
"That'll probably be a win for the Harpies, sadly, considering you're third and we're 8th"
Suddenly, the last thing we expected to happen, actually did! None other than Mary Davison came bursting into the room!
"Guys, you need to come and look at Magda, I don't know what's going on, but it's something very serious!"
It must have been, if Mary was willing to talk to us!
We rushed downstairs, and sure enough, something very serious was happening with Magda. She was convulsing madly, and we all stood there, frozen, shocked, wondering what to do.
