A ghoul with white hair and a red tentacle kagune stood in the middle of a carnage infested field. It looked like a war zone.

His face was innocent but he was covered in blood.

He held up a human heart with shaking hands. "P-Please...Kuri...you have to help me..."

Then his expression darkened...and he lunged for her chest—

Kurai was standing outside the bakery looking inside while her sister Reiko made the purchase. On the way, she spotted a guy in a hoodie looking wistfully into a window of a bakery.

Kurai thought he was very suspicious-looking. She stood next to him and started to stare at him from different directions. He smiled at her and she frowned back.

"What are you doing here? Are you waiting for someone?" Kurai asked.

"I'm watching the children come out of the store, they look so happy," Kaneki said.

Kurai smiled. "That's because this is a sweet snack store."

"Yeah, this city is really nice! Every mother looks really gentle." Kaneki said.

"Yes. The mothers do." Kurai said, thinking of her own mother.

Kaneki laughed, "You are funny. This is a great city! Even the snacks even look happy!"

Kurai peered into the window. "You know how they feel?"

"Look! They almost start dancing to make children happy." Kaneki said

"To me, they just look delicious." Kurai commented.

Kaneki quickly faced Kurai and held out his hand uncertainly. "I-I'm Kaneki Ken."

Kurai looked at his hand in surprise but then shook it and said, "My name is Kurai."

Kaneki and Kurai walked to the end of the street together. Kurai handed her cookies to Kaneki.

"What are they?" She asked.

"They are my homemade cookies," he replied. Kuri stared at them for awhile. "Even though they don't look beautiful, my cookies will win with their superb taste. They are so special that one bite will make you more energetic and powerful hundreds of times over."

"Can I keep them?" Kaneki asked.

Kurai nodded and Kaneki was very happy, even though he couldn't eat them.

Kaneki said, "Good-bye!" and waved to her as she left.

Kurai happily waved back.

Suddenly the two looked into the sky.

It began to get very, very dark...

"Odd," Kaneki said. His eyes widened suddenly, and he doubled over in pain.

"Kaneki!" Kurai called.

"I-I am fine..." Kaneki lied. "Just a little dizzy."

"What was it..." he thought. "That pain..."

Kaneki was lying in the ruins of a city. It was completely destroyed and everyone was dead.

"What's happening? Where is everyone?"

He looked around.

"That's right...everyone is dead already." Kaneki cradled a human heart in his hand.

Kuri standing in front of him, a sword drawn. "Don't be afraid, Kaneki. We still have time. We must find the enemy, and destroy it. It is the only way to stop this from happening. It is up to you and me."

Kaneki covered his face, and began to cry.

Kaneki entered the library. He wanted to ask Kuri about the dream but he didn't know how.

He watched as she sat down, and began her work, waiting for a chance to ask him.

"You hear it, don't you." Kuri said. "The wind is rustling."

"What is it that you want from me, Kuri?" Kaneki said, wondering if Roy knew her dreams.

"I just want to know if you can hear it." Kuri said simply.

"No I-I can't." Kaneki snapped. "You should really just leave me alone."
