Morning after.
Caleb's alarm goes off on Hanna's bedside table. He opens his eyes, and the first thing he sees is Hanna's smiling face as she hovers over him.
Hanna "Morning, you, beautiful live-in partner of mine." She reaches out and turns off his alarm herself.
Caleb chuckles and closes his eyes again. "Morning, babe."
Hanna "So, when can I move in?"
Caleb "Right now." He tenderly says, still feeling sleepy. "How long have you been up?"
Hanna grins. "I neither deny nor affirm that I've been watching you sleep for like an hour." She starts caressing his bare chest softly. "Seriously, when can I move in?"
Caleb opens his eyes again. "Tomorrow?" He suggests, since it's Saturday and he knows Hanna will probably work anyway, but he won't. "Get your things ready, and I'll ask Toby if I can borrow his truck."
Hanna "Great!" She pecks his lips. "I don't have too many things anyway."
Caleb "Okay." He finally sits up. "Can I use the shower first so I can get going?"
Hanna "Sure."
Caleb finally gets up from the bed, presses a tender kiss on her forehead, and then he grabs a clean pair of boxers from his drawer before leaving her bedroom.
/
Hanna puts on her robe and heads downstairs. "Morning, mom." She greets Ashley after meeting her at the kitchen.
Ashley greets her with a smile. "Good morning, sweetie." She says, sipping her coffee.
Hanna "Didn't know you would come back so early." She says while checking the fridge.
Ashley "Ted just dropped me off."
Hanna "Ugh... we have nothing in here. I wanted to make some breakfast."
Ashley "Since when?"
Hanna "Caleb's here." She only says and Ashley instantly understands.
Ashley "There are some frozen waffles in the freezer." She suggests.
Hanna makes a disgusted face but grabs the waffles anyway. "I have some good news to tell you, mom." She opens a kitchen cabinet to get the toaster and places it on the countertop. Then, she stares at Ashley with a smile on her face. "I'm renting a place to open my own store, mom!"
Ashley "That's awesome news, Hanna!" she replies with excitement and smiles back.
Hanna "Yeah, I know. I've been reviewing my numbers with the accountant, and I can afford it now... I'll no longer drive you crazy." She laughs and puts the waffles in the toaster. "Anyway, that wasn't the big news, well, yes, but there's something else I wanna tell you…"
Ashley only stares at her, still smiling.
Hanna "I'm moving in with Caleb."
Ashley's response is a simple "Oh..." and then she falls silent. Hanna's news has taken her by surprise.
Hanna "Aren't you happy for me?" She asks confused at her unexpected reaction.
Ashley stands up from the table and approaches Hanna. "Yes, of course I'm happy for you. It just took me by surprise…" Her eyes become teary as she gets emotional. "But I guess it makes perfect sense."
Hanna tries to lighten the mood. "Are you really going to cry, mom? I thought you would celebrate or something like that… I'm telling you you'll have the whole house to yourself again." She adds a playful comment.
However, Ashley continues to stare at her.
Hanna "Really, Mom. Besides, this isn't the first time I've moved out... I left for college and then I moved in with Jordan... in New York. I'll be only a few blocks away from you this time." She reassures her.
Ashley "I know... it's just that I got used to having you around again... and yes, you do drive me crazy sometimes, but I love having you here." She pulls Hanna into a hug, her emotions showing. "And… I know this time you are leaving for good…"
Hanna rests her head on her shoulder while hugging her back. "Don't be so sure, mom." She smiles. "I can always come back... don't turn my bedroom into a gym or a second closet for you just in case Caleb wants to return me in a couple of weeks." She adds a touch of humor.
Caleb "Yeah, I'm not doing that. Ever." He shows up in the kitchen.
Hanna and Ashley break their hug, and Hanna gives Caleb a wide smile.
Caleb "Just leave making breakfast to me." He points to the toaster.
Hanna laughs and quickly takes the waffles out of the toaster.
Ashley "Congratulations, guys! You're great together."
Caleb shoots her a kind smile. "Thank you, Ashley."
Hanna "Thanks, mom." She kisses Ashley's cheek tenderly. "You won't get rid of me so easily anyway. I still have to find a place for my store, so you'll be delighted with my presence for some more time."
/
Hanna spends most of her Friday working on the new batch of dresses that she plans to list for sale on her website the following week. It's not until around 7 p.m. when Ryan arrives to collect the orders he needs to deliver the next day that she decides to wrap up her workday. After handing the packages to Ryan, she heads upstairs to prepare her belongings for the move so that Caleb can pick up her boxes the next day.
She only takes a break to have dinner with Ashley, her last meal with her mother living in that house. Then, she returns to packing and also gathers Chocolate's belongings. He doesn't even know it yet, but he is going back to live with the guy who took care of him for a whole year. He would likely be just as happy as Hanna if he were aware of the situation.
Around eleven, Hanna finally turns in. She is so excited about the move that it takes her some time to fall asleep, but it's just been another day of hard work for her, so she eventually manages to drift off after a while.
/
On Saturday noon, Caleb arrives at Hanna's in Toby's truck.
Hanna "Hey!" She approaches him and places her hands on his shoulders to give him a welcome kiss.
Caleb "So, is this everything?" He asks after taking a look at her boxes.
Hanna "Yeah... I told you I didn't have much stuff. Just my clothes, make-up, perfumes... and Chocolate's stuff."
Caleb "Where is he, though? Didn't come to say hi..."
Hanna "He's in the backyard. We can pick him up later. I don't want him running around freely out there while we load the boxes into the truck."
Caleb nods and picks up a large box.
Ashley shows up there to help them getting Hanna's belongings into the truck.
Hanna "Is it okay if we have my mom and Ted over for dinner any of these days?" She asks Caleb while watching Ashley carry a box. "It might help her wrap her mind around me leaving the house better… I didn't think it would affect her this much, but she's been sensitive about it."
Caleb "Of course, babe." He places his hands on her shoulders and gives her a soft squeeze. "My house is your house now… you don't have to ask."
Hanna smiles. "This is gonna be great. You and me." She reaches out to mess his hair a little.
/
Hanna "Oh, I thought Toby would take your car." She says after seeing Caleb's car parked in his driveway, while getting out of Toby's truck.
Caleb "Yeah, that was the idea. But he told me he wouldn't need my car after all. He and Spencer are spending the weekend at the lake house." He explains and goes to get a box from the truck bed. "They needed a break, get out of that house for a little while. And they only took Spencer's car."
Hanna "Yeah, Finnie has been driving them crazy lately. It's funny how such a cute little baby like him can be a real handful." She says, chuckling as she helps Caleb with the boxes. "So, did you tell Toby I was moving in?" She casually asks as they head for the front door.
Caleb "No, he didn't even ask what I needed his truck for." He puts down the box he is carrying to open the door.
Hanna "Good. We'll tell the guys next time we all hang out together." She says as they get inside.
Caleb "Let's just get all the boxes inside, and then I'll take them upstairs."
Hanna "Okay."
/
They are in Caleb's bedroom, Hanna's boxes scattered throughout the room.
Caleb "I made some space for you." He says while opening his closet. "But I know there isn't enough room for all of your clothes… you could just put the things you use more often here, and store the rest in one of the closets in the other rooms." He suggests.
Hanna takes a look into his closet. He has reorganized his clothes and left more than half of the space for her. She smiles tenderly. "Thank you, baby." She wraps her arms around his waist, hugging him from behind.
Caleb "Well, as I said before, this is your house now. So feel free to move, reorganize, or change anything you want. You can also use the other empty rooms if you need to bring more stuff here, Han… like some of your dresses… maybe you also want to set up an extra sewing machine, whatever you want."
Hanna smiles again. "Nope. I'll keep my work out of this house." She kisses his shoulder though the fabric of his t-shirt. "Besides, we both know what those other rooms are for." She adds, not sure if Caleb will catch it.
Caleb chuckles. "Yeah, I know. I meant in the meanwhile…"
Hanna grins, knowing he caught the hint. "Thank you, baby." She expresses her gratitude again. "You are so thoughtful."
Caleb "Wanna go grab something for lunch? We can unpack later."
Hanna "Yeah, I'm hungry already." She lets go of him. "But I'll have to go back to my place after lunch, I still have some work-"
Caleb cuts her off. "Your place?"
Hanna smiles. "My mom's." She corrects herself. "I'll start unpacking tonight, okay? I have some work to do."
Caleb nods. "Let's get going then."
Hanna "You should start thinking about what you're cooking for dinner tonight." She says while taking his hand. "It will be our first meal living together. It has to be perfect."
Caleb chuckles, appreciating the sentiment. "Well, I'll think of something special."
/
Later.
Hanna is working on her laptop, taking care of the boring part of her business, when she gets a voice message from Emily: "Hey, Han! Could you do me a favor? Ali wasn't feeling well this morning when I left and she isn't picking up her phone. Could you go check on her? I know you must be busy, but Aria and Spencer are out of town and I can't leave work early again."
Hanna texts her back: "Sure, Em. Will be right there."
She's barely gotten to work for a little more than an hour, but she grabs her keys and leaves.
/
Alison "Hey, Hanna! What's the emergency?" she asks, half-asleep, after opening the front door. "Were you just trying to kick my door open?"
Hanna "Kind of… I had to knock really hard, Ali. I rang the doorbell like ten times. I was getting worried."
Alison "I'm sorry. I was fast asleep." She moves to the side so Hanna can come inside.
Hanna "Are you okay?" She asks as they head to the living room.
Alison "Yeah… I barely slept last night…" She places her hand on her five-month-long pregnant belly, which is already huge since she's pregnant with twins. "Too much nausea. I thought it would go away after the first trimester, but it didn't." She sits down on the couch.
Hanna "Have you seen your doctor?"
Alison "Yeah… I just need to stay hydrated and take some extra vitamins."
Hanna sits down in a chair and takes her phone from her purse. "I'm letting Emily know you are alright. She was worried because you weren't picking up your phone." She says while typing on it.
Alison "She just worries too much."
Hanna "Can I get you anything? Have you eaten?"
Alison "I'm not hungry."
Hanna "That's not what I asked. I'll make you something."
Alison "Really, Han. I can't take a bite right now… I'll throw up again. I'd rather wait until I feel better."
Hanna "Fine." She stands up from her seat. "I'll go get you some water."
Alison "Could you get me my vitamins too? They should be there on the counter."
Hanna "Sure."
/
Hanna ends up staying with Alison until Emily gets home in the evening, and by the time she leaves, it's already too late to go back to Ashley's and get some more work done. If she still lived with her mom, she surely would keep working at least until midnight to make up for the lost hours. But she has told Caleb she would start unpacking and also asked him to prepare something special for dinner, so she goes straight to his house. Their house.
She is welcomed by Chocolate when she crosses the front door.
Hanna "Hi, baby." She crouches down to hug the excited dog. "Are you happy that we live here now?" She asks him while stroking his back.
Then she heads to the kitchen and finds Caleb already preparing dinner.
Caleb turns to her and smiles. "Hey! You're home!" He leaves what he is doing and starts washing his hands.
Hanna smiles widely, his phrase just sounded so good. "Yeah, I'm home."
She approaches him, and Caleb quickly dries his hands with the kitchen towel so he can greet her properly.
Hanna "You picked Chocolate up."
Caleb "Yeah, I just went for him on my way back from the store." He grabs her by the waist. "You weren't there, though."
Hanna wraps her arms around his neck and they share a sweet long kiss.
Hanna "I was at Ali's. She wasn't feeling so well and Emily got worried."
Caleb "Is she okay?"
Hanna "Yeah, just a bit nauseous." She lets go of him. "I'll go unpack my things, babe."
Caleb "Okay, just let me know if you need anything."
/
Hanna is organizing her clothes into different piles on Caleb's bed, now their bed. She classifies her summer clothes, her winter clothes, the garments she wears more often, and so on. She has already hung her dresses and some other things in the closet that require hangers. The TV is on, and she suddenly starts listening to something that catches her attention. It's a breaking news.
She moves one of her piles of clothes aside and sits on the edge of the bed while turning up the TV volume.
Hanna "Babe!" She calls for Caleb. "Caleb!"
Caleb gets there in no time, her way of calling him sounding urgent. "Are you okay?" He asks while staring at her.
She has a serious expression on her face, but since she doesn't even look at him and her eyes seem glued to the TV screen, he turns to take a look at it.
Caleb doesn't say a word. He simply sits down next to her as they watch the news in complete silence.
The images show George, who is being arrested by the police. The graphics indicate something about corruption, and the news presenter mentions that these images are from moments ago at George's place in Boston. They keep repeating and emphasizing that the man being arrested is candidate Hobart's campaign manager.
Caleb looks at Hanna, trying to figure her out, but she remains serious while watching the TV. "So, what's on your mind?" He finally decides to ask and reaches out to gently move her hair aside.
Hanna finally looks at him, her glassy eyes hinting that this has definitely affected her somehow. "I know I should probably be opening a champagne bottle right now… but I don't know… this makes me a bit anxious."
Caleb takes her hand and starts to caress her softly with his thumb. "It's perfectly understandable that you feel that way, Han. But this is good, believe me."
Hanna nods. "Yeah, I guess it is." She gets closer to him to rest her head on his shoulder.
Caleb gives her a reassuring smile and wraps his arm around her, pulling her closer. "Everything will be fine. That son of a bitch is finally where he belongs."
Hanna "You think? What if they just let him go in a few days?"
Caleb "I don't think so, Han. They've been investigating him for months. They must have strong evidence against him if they decided to get a warrant now."
Hanna "Toby didn't mention anything to you?"
Caleb "No… I asked him to talk to his old colleagues and find out if there was any news about the case, but he said they didn't have any information. Apparently, the New York P.D. took over the investigation and they stopped sharing sensitive information with the Rosewood police. So, we kind of suspected they had found something about George."
Hanna "Why didn't you tell me?"
Caleb "Because we knew nothing, Han. It was just an assumption." He continues to hold her, gently rubbing her back as they watch the news, providing her with the comfort and support she needs at the moment.
Hanna stands up from the bed at some point and turns the TV off. "I better get back to organizing the closet, or we'll have to sleep on the couch." She grabs a pile of clothes and places it in the closet.
Caleb stands up too. "So, you are okay then?"
Hanna "Yeah. I'm just hungry. Go back to making dinner."
Caleb stares at her as she folds some of her t-shirts.
Hanna "I'm okay, Caleb. Really."
Caleb nods and leaves the room.
/
They share a very nice meal together, sitting at the dining room table. Caleb even lights up some candles to meet Hanna's request of making their first dinner living together special. And his food is delicious. They chat, they laugh, they make a toast, and then they clear the table together. Hanna takes care of washing the dishes.
Caleb pours some glasses of wine, and they cuddle on the couch. It's a perfect Saturday night. Most of their friends are out of town, and it's been a day full of emotions, so relaxing together feels like the perfect plan.
Hanna rests against the plush cushions, her legs tucked under her, with her head gently leaning on Caleb's shoulder. Caleb's free arm rests on her shoulders, keeping her close to him, while the other hand holds his glass of wine.
Hanna "I never thought I would say this, but I'm so glad you stole my dog." She smiles amused, and sips her wine.
Caleb laughs. "Oh, so we are going back to that."
Hanna "You stole him, Caleb. Just admit it." She jokes.
Caleb smiles. "I wouldn't have taken a whole year to take him back to Rosewood if I knew he had such a hottie for an owner." He plays along and takes a sip of wine too.
Hanna laughs. "Where's he, anyway?"
Caleb "He went to sleep. I saw him going upstairs a while ago."
Hanna "Poor baby, must have been exhausted from doing nothing all day."
Caleb chuckles. "We're taking him to the park tomorrow."
Hanna "Okay… but then I have to go back to work for a while. I barely got some work done today before Emily asked me to go check on Ali. I'll go to my mom's after lunch."
Caleb "Tomorrow's Sunday, Han… just chill."
Hanna "I can't, babe. I told you I'll organize my work better once I get some extra help… and once my store is set up."
Caleb nods.
Hanna takes her free hand to his face and gives him a tender kiss. "I'll take care of dinner tomorrow."
Caleb narrows his eyes. "Be more specific." He says a bit suspicious. "Are you actually cooking? Or you mean you are just ordering some food."
Hanna chuckles. "I'll cook for you." She caresses his cheek with her thumb. "I'll have to get used to this new life… and sharing chores and responsibilities… I promise I'll do my best not to drive you crazy."
Caleb smiles and gives her a gentle kiss on the lips. "But I like being driven crazy by you." He releases his arm from around her shoulders, takes her half-empty glass of wine, and sets it on the coffee table alongside his own. Then, he eases back on the couch and gently pulls her on top of him, wrapping both arms around her.
Hanna places her hands on his shoulders. "Mmh… really?" She initiates a passionate kiss. "Like this?" She slides her hand underneath his t-shirt and bites his bottom lip.
Caleb "Yeah, just like that." He takes his hands to her butt and presses her against himself while kissing her back.
/
Monday morning. The weekend is over, and Hanna and Caleb are beginning their first week living together.
Hanna is going through the closet, picking out an outfit while Caleb enters their bedroom.
Caleb "Shower is all yours." He says, a towel wrapped around his waist.
Hanna smiles and approaches him to kiss him briefly. "Morning." She greets him, since she was still asleep when he got up.
Caleb "Morning, beautiful."
Hanna "Don't count on me for breakfast, babe. I'll have something to eat at my mom's."
Caleb "Okay, then I'll just have coffee at the office. Want me to wait for you? I can drop you off at your mom's." He says while grabbing a pair of boxers from his drawer.
Hanna "No, I don't want to keep you waiting. It'll take me some time to get ready to go." She throws the clothes she plans to wear after her shower on the bed. "And I was actually thinking of walking there… with Chocolate."
Caleb looks at her, smiling. "Really?"
Hanna "Yeah… I'm ready to start walking him again." She says while leaving the room.
Caleb "Alright, just let me know when you get there." He raises his voice so she can hear him.
Hanna comes back in. "Sure." She approaches him and grabs his face to place another kiss on his mouth. "Forgot to kiss you goodbye."
Caleb only smiles again as she leaves for the bathroom.
/
That afternoon.
Hanna is reviewing the resumes of the women she interviewed a few days ago, trying to decide whom she should call back for a sewing skills demonstration. She is not hiring someone without seeing them in action, as the quality of her dresses is a top priority. Her brand, "Hanna Marin," serves as her personal signature and represents her image. She has a reputation to protect, after all.
Her phone starts ringing.
Hanna "Hey, Spence!"
Spencer "Hi, Han… are you at Caleb's?"
Hanna notices her trembling voice and also the baby crying in the background. "No, why? What happened?"
Spencer "Nothing, never mind. I just saw your car in his driveway, I thought you were there."
Hanna is sure now that Spencer's crying, even though she's trying to sound composed, but she fails. "I'll be right there, Spence."
Spencer "No, really. It's fine."
Hanna "I'm on my way." She insists and ends the call.
/
It takes Hanna some time to reach Spencer's place since she doesn't have a vehicle and decides to walk there.
Spencer "Hey." She says softly while opening the door. She is holding her crying baby in her arms and her eyes are reddish. She's been crying too.
Hanna "Are you okay, Spence?" She asks as she enters the house.
Spencer shuts the door and leans against it, starting to cry again.
Hanna "Hey, what's going on?"
Spencer "I can't take this anymore, Han. Finn hasn't stopped crying for hours. I couldn't even shower yet. I don't know what else to do to make him stop. I can't bear to hear him cry anymore."
Hanna approaches and gently takes the baby from Spencer's arms. "It's okay, Spence. I'm here. I'll help you."
Spencer "I don't know what else to do to make him feel better, Han. I'm a crappy mother." She says with a shaky voice.
Hanna "This is normal, Spence. It's just a phase. His colic will go away at some point." She reassures her. "You are perfect for him. You're just overwhelmed, and you haven't had a good night's sleep in days."
Spencer "I'll go insane if he keeps crying like this." She wipes her tears away and sighs.
Hanna "I'll tell you what… take some time for yourself. Go take a nap, a shower, whatever you need. I'll take him with me to Caleb's so you can relax, knowing we're right next door just in case he needs you."
Spencer "Are you sure? You don't mind taking care of him?"
Hanna smiles at her. "I would love to. I love you two."
Spencer "Thanks, Han. Really."
Hanna "No problem. Just give me his diaper bag."
Spencer goes to get the diaper bag and comes back a couple of minutes later. Hanna paces around with the baby in her arms, trying to comfort him, but he's still crying.
Spencer "I also put his bottle with some milk I pumped this morning. Make sure to keep it in the fridge and then heat it in the microwave for twenty seconds, swirl it a little, and heat it for a few more seconds." She gives her some instructions while handing her the bag.
Hanna nods.
Spencer "You can test the temperature on your wrist to make sure it isn't too hot." She adds while covering the baby with a blanket.
Hanna makes a face of disgust. "Yeah, I'm not doing that with your breast milk… don't worry, I won't burn your baby's mouth." She hangs the bag on her shoulder. "Go have some rest. I'll take good care of him. I promise."
Spencer "I know you will." She says while opening the front door for her. "Thanks, Han."
Hanna shoots her a kind smile before walking away with the fussy baby.
She gently cradles the baby against her chest as she opens the front door and then goes to the living room and tosses the diaper bag onto the couch.
Hanna "It's okay, baby. Auntie Hanna is taking care of you." She whispers sweetly to the baby as she searches for his bottle in the bag.
When she goes to the kitchen to put the bottle in the fridge, she spots Chocolate's bowl on the kitchen floor. She realizes the dog is out with Zeth, and there will be no one at her mom's to receive him when he comes back from his walk. She decides to send Zeth a voice message: "Hey, Zeth! I'm sorry, but I had to leave my house in a rush, and there won't be anyone to receive Chocolate. Would you please take him to the address I'm sending you? It's only a few blocks away. Thanks!
Hanna leaves her phone and kisses the crying baby's cheek softly. "Let's go get your pacifier, little one."
/
A few minutes later, the doorbell rings, and Hanna goes to answer it, still holding the baby in her arms.
Hanna "I'm sorry, Zeth. I left in a hurry and didn't even think of Chocolate." She apologizes.
Zeth "Don't worry, Han. I had to return another dog only one block away from here. It's okay." He is about to hand her the dog's leash but realizes her hands are full, so he takes Chocolate off his leash himself. "Are you babysitting now? Business with dresses declined?" He jokes.
Hanna chuckles. "My best friend lives in the house next door, and she just needed a break from this little cutie." She caresses Finn's head softly. He is no longer crying as hard as before, but he is still unsettled.
Zeth "Who lives here then?" He asks, intrigued.
Hanna "I live here… with Caleb. I just moved in."
Zeth "Oh, that's good, Han! Want me to start picking up Chocolate from here?"
Hanna "Not for now... I'll still be running my business from my mom's until I open my store. I'll let you know anything."
The baby starts grizzling again.
Zeth "Okay, I'll let you go back to babysitting... See you around, Han."
Hanna "See you." She greets him back before kicking the door shut since her hands are full with the restless baby. She turns to find Chocolate staring at her, or more accurately, at the baby. "Hey, Chocolate! See what I have here." She bends her legs slightly so the dog can get a better view of the baby.
Chocolate sniffs Finn a little, and that catches the little one's attention. The baby stares at Chocolate with wide eyes.
Hanna "Hey, you calmed him down, baby!" She smiles at Chocolate. "You are a better sitter than me."
/
Caleb gets home an hour later, and the sound of the baby whining leads him straight to the living room, where he finds Hanna sitting on the couch with Finn, and Chocolate lying on the floor, very attentive to them.
Caleb "Oh, you stole a baby!" He jokes.
Hanna stands up from the couch right away. "Thank god you are home already." She approaches Caleb, followed closely by Chocolate and hands the baby to him. "Take him. I really need to take a pee."
Caleb "Hey, little one!" He smiles at Finn, but he keeps whining in his arms.
He has no idea what to do with the baby, so he simply paces around the living room, trying to calm him down until Hanna returns some minutes later.
Caleb "So? How did we end up with this baby?"
Hanna "Spencer called me. She was on the edge of a breakdown, so I took him for a while so she could rest." She takes the baby back into her arms. "He's very fussy. He only calmed down for like five minutes, thanks to Chocolate."
Caleb "Yeah, he's not taking his eyes off the baby."
Hanna chuckles. "He must be wondering what this little crying creature is. I think he's never seen a baby before."
Caleb "Well, it's good that he starts to get familiar with the cry of a baby." He approaches Hanna and gives her a tender kiss on her lips.
Hanna smiles at him. "Yeah, well, I'm not so sure. This baby is such a cutie, but his cry is kind of a contraceptive." She jokes. "I'm impressed by his lung capacity. How something so little can make so much noise."
Caleb chuckles.
Hanna "Take him again." She passes the baby back to him. "I'll heat up his bottle, maybe he's hungry now."
She comes back a couple of minutes later and is about to take Finn from Caleb's arms, but he stops her.
Caleb "May I?" he asks while pointing to the bottle.
Hanna smiles at him. "Sure."
She hands him the bottle and Caleb sits down on the couch.
Hanna "Make sure to hold the bottle up so he doesn't take in air. I read it's not good for his colic." She instructs him as she takes a seat next to him.
Caleb "You've been reading about it?" He asks as he starts to feed the baby.
Hanna "I was just googling what to do with a baby with colic earlier. I didn't know what else to do to make him feel better. Poor thing, I think he's tired from crying so much too." She takes the baby's hand and starts to caress him softly. "How was your day?" She makes some conversation.
Caleb "Good. We closed a deal with a new client... we had been meeting for a while, but we finally closed it today."
Hanna "That's good." She makes herself comfortable on the couch and rests her head on Caleb's shoulder.
Caleb tilts his head to the side and rests it on Hanna's. "Yours?"
Hanna "It was okay... I finished a couple more dresses... sent my accountant some paperwork I owed him... and I was about to choose which of my applicants for the seamstress position to call in for a test, but then Spencer called me, so I didn't make any choice yet."
They chat for a little longer until the baby finishes his bottle. He was hungry after all. Then Hanna takes him and holds him against her shoulder to burp him, softly caressing his back.
Hanna "I've never appreciated silence so much before." She chuckles.
Caleb "He's getting sleepy."
Hanna "Good... because I would have felt bad if I had to return him to Spencer still crying."
Finn finally falls asleep so Hanna gently cradles him against her chest, creating a cozy, secure nest for him to sleep comfortably, his tiny body curled up in her warm embrace.
Hanna "Would you check my phone? I haven't grabbed it for a while, and I don't want Spencer to freak out if I don't text her back or something."
Caleb takes Hanna's phone from the coffee table. "No texts from anyone." He lets her know after taking a look.
Hanna "I thought she would drive me crazy over the phone... but I guess she really needed some time for herself."
Caleb "Yeah… you have to see Toby. He looks terrible too." He rests back and rests his arm on Hanna's shoulders.
Hanna "Why don't we invite them over for dinner? Maybe hanging out is good for them to clear their minds a little... you know? A bit of fun." She suggests.
Caleb "Sure. I'll text Toby."
/
Spencer and Toby arrive an hour later, bringing the baby stroller with them. Caleb answers the door and leads them to the living room.
Spencer "Oh, Han! You got him to sleep!" She says excitedly but in a hushed tone not to wake up her baby. "Wanna move in with us?" She jokes while sitting down next to her.
Hanna "We both made him sleep." She corrects her and gives Caleb a smile. Then she looks back to Spencer. "And I can't move in with you because I just moved in here."
Spencer grins. "Oh! Really?" She says happily. "I'm so happy for you, guys!" She looks at Caleb while hugging Hanna from the side. "Congratulations!"
Hanna "Thanks, Spence!"
Toby "You didn't say a word!" He pats on Caleb's shoulder. "I'm happy for you guys too."
Caleb "Thanks, guys." He says and smiles.
Hanna stands up from the couch and gently places the baby in his stroller. Chocolate approaches and sits in front of it, staring at Finn.
Caleb "He is just fascinated with Finn." He tells their friends.
Hanna "He's been watching him since he got here." She adds.
Spencer smiles. "Maybe he wants a little human sibling for him."
Hanna "Yeah, that's not happening for now. He'll have to settle for his little human cousin." She jokes.
Caleb wraps his arms around Hanna's shoulders, holding her from behind. "Only for now."
Both Hanna and Spencer smile tenderly.
Toby "You guys have no idea what you could end up getting into." He jokes.
Spencer "Yeah, no kidding. Really, enjoy your time as a kid-free couple as much as you can."
Hanna chuckles. "Believe me, we are." She takes Caleb's hand. "So, what are we ordering for dinner?"
