It was true. Garfield had eaten a mouse, and he had the proof:

'Mouse's last words were 'Please don't eat me!', they were useless as I threw him into my mouth and chewed him to pieces.' The note said.

Jon was skeptical of it, but he was pleased his lazy cat seemed to have finally gotten out of his mouse loving phase.

When Jon was asleep that night, Garfield went down to the basement and unlocked the secret compartment behind the washing machine.

'Thanks man! I really appreciate the effort.' The supposed-to-be-dead mouse said in gratitude.

'Yeah yeah yeah. I only said I'd fake your death once, so you better take my good gesture seriously.' Garfield replied.

'Oh I will sir, I will!'

The mouse and his family moved out the next day, from the living room to the basement. Luckily, Jon was too dumb to notice the tiny holes behind the washing machine.
