Chapter 6 - A Father's Rage!

Neoni - Giants

Setting: Outskirts of Whirlpool, The Kyuubi's Cave
Time: 10:25

Riza sat on her knees and stared down at her daughter's lifeless body. Mika's breathing was still labored, and the multitude of wounds on her body wasn't helping.

Rana cautiously walked up to the Queen before speaking, "Riza, I'm so so-"

"Stop," Riza interrupted, "You're only going to get me more upset."

Rana took her advice and backed away, not without giving the injured girl a solemn look. Rama looked on at the scene with a similar look. To say they felt terrible would be an understatement. That girl was their responsibility. They were trusted with the greatest responsibility a ninja in Uzushiogakure village could have, guarding the Uzukage's daughter, and they failed miserably.

Mito walked up to the Queen and sat down, solemnly brushing hair away from the injured girl's face. She turned towards Riza and moved her hair out of the way to get a clear view of her eyes, "She'll be okay, Riza. She's a fight-"

"Fighter just like her dad? Haven't heard that one before," Riza mocked.

"No, she's a fighter like her mother," Mito corrected, causing the younger woman to look at her in shock.

"Was that a… compliment?" Riza stared at her in shock.

"... Don't push it."

Riza chuckled slightly before bringing her ear down to her daughter's bloody chest, "Still breathing."

"That's good.," Mito said, "If those pain pills we gave her work properly, she should be awake soon." She stood up and walked over to the youngest in the cave.

Eihei watched the interaction from next to the giant statue of chakra chains. She stood beside the Uzukage's body and tried to piece together the situation. It was a sealing jutsu being performed, and the giant statue held an aura of power. However, even without chakra, Eihei could tell something was off.

"Someone's thinking hard," Mito said, interrupting the girl's inner dialogue, "Y'know, you shouldn't overthink. Mika will be fine; she is the future Queen, after all."

"It's not about Mika… Ms. Mito, what is that thing you're sealing," Eihei asked inquisitively.

Mito stood still for a second, debating whether or not she should tell the young girl. She knew Eihei was intelligent for her age, the girl may've figured it out on her own anyway, "I shouldn't be telling you this but… We're sealing the Ni-"

"SHE'S AWAKE!" Riza yelled abruptly, causing everyone in the cave to rush to her side.

The chocolate-skinned redhead had begun fluttering her eyes before immediately grimacing in pain. The candles and torches adorning the cave walls only seemed the fuel Mika's pounding migraine. She struggled to open her eyes and stare at her mother's face, which stared back at her with a mix of joy and confusion, "M-m-mommy? Where are we?"

"Don't worry about that, Mika. You've got to answer me, okay?" Riza waited for the girl's faint nod before continuing, "What happened? How did you end up like this."

"I… I don't re-" As Mika blinked, she saw exactly what caused her injuries. The man… no… the thing was standing right above her. It was right next to her mother, holding up one of its freakishly long fingers to its mouth in a hush motion. Mika's face turned into a wide-eyed gape before falling back into unconsciousness.

"MIKA!" Riza yelled out. She checked her daughter's pulse, "200 Beats per minute?"

"It's like she's seen a ghost," Mito noticed. She pointed at her forehead and gestured towards the younger woman, "Mind doing your thing?"

Riza recognized the gesture and did 'her thing,' closing her eyes for a couple of seconds, another eye opened on her forehead. It was a scarlet red sclera with similar shades of beige and red in her iris and pupils, respectively.

"That'll never not be weird," Mito muttered under her breath.

Riza scanned the cave looking around frantically. It was practically impossible to avoid her third eye's gaze with its ability to detect all chakra within a 20km radius. As she prepared to stop looking, her eyes centered on a spot in the cave. Right under a lit torch, her eye spotted a grayish aura. It was so small that she barely noticed it. Quickly, she drew her tanto, jumped in the air, and swung the sword at the part of the cave.

When she looked down, she saw that she had made contact with a gray bunny. The young woman noticed the bunny had a small chakra network, just like all other species in the ninja world.

"Poor bunny," Eihei muttered under her breath. The bunny made a noise before scurrying out of sight, leaving a small trail of blood.

Mika began coughing up more blood, causing the cave to again stare at the injured girl fearfully. "Why can't we just get a medical ninja to help her?" Eihei asked.

"There would be no point. Medical ninjas repair broken bones, fix torn ligaments, and cure diseases. Even a complex surgery wouldn't be able to recreate the damaged organs without help from her chakra structure. The only thing we can do is try and ease the pain," Mito explained. She brought her hand to her niece's forehead and moved a strand of hair away from her face, "Clearly, there's something in her body keeping her from death, or she would've been dead on impact."

Eihei listened to the woman's explanation and glanced again at the statue. Eihei was drawn to the figure due to how much it confused her. She felt the pure and raw emotions coming from the statue. It was so strong that her body nearly crumbled just from staring at it, causing her to look away. She decided to sit next to Mika, periodically glancing at the statue, 'What could that be.'

Little did she know, her answer would be coming to her very soon.

Ryota spit out the last gallon of water and glared down at the skin she'd just shed. It was utterly shredded, and had she not swallowed most of the water, her avatar in the seal would've been destroyed.

Ryota slithered over a pile of snake carcasses and searched for Makoto in the rubble. The endless void was turned into a wasteland. Nothing but mindless snake bodies and puddles of water filled the ground. To her, this was the closest thing to Snake hell she could think of.

"Makoto… you overdid it," Ryota said as she found her summoner. If the man heard her, he didn't acknowledge her as he stared down at the comatose fox. He pulled out two seals and placed them on the fox's forehead.

The fox opened his eyes and felt like trillions of tons were dropped on his body. The fox felt his stomach full of water, blood, and-

The beast began to vomit out large amounts of disembodied snake skin, teeth, and guts, "Damned snakes… Makoto Uzumaki."

"In a couple of minutes, you will be fully consumed by the seal," Makoto announced to the fox. His sage chakra was gone, having used it all on that large-scale attack.

"A couple minutes… I'm not sure she'll last that long," The fox grinned, "Mika is her name, right?"

Makoto ignored its words and looked at Ryota as she slithered up his shoulder, "Do you know anything about her injuries before we go out there."

"They said she fell out of the top-story window of the castle and made her way to the cave," Ryota replied.

"That's impossible," Makoto stated in shock, "She couldn't have made it through the village and up to the cave if her injuries were severe. Speaking of, what are her injuries."

"There's hundreds of lacerations, a couple of broken ribs, sprained ankle, and signs of delirium… Her worst injury was a bone sticking out of her stomach."

The worried father closed his eyes and let out an angry breath, "How could I have let this happen."

Ryota shook her head, "There's nothing you could've done, Makoto. However, now we need you. Do you think you have any medical ninjutsu saved in your Kinettiku?"

"Probably, but it wouldn't heal her completely without a working chakra network," Makoto pondered, "Unless… I amplify it with my chakra. Then it would be enough to rectify her not having a chakra nature."

The Kyuubi laughed, causing the duo to direct their attention to the fox, "That's a great plan, Uzumaki. There's just one small thing."

"What would that be, fox?" Ryota hissed.

The chakra demon flashed a shit-eating grin, "How do you plan on sealing me, reptile." A look of realization came on her face, "Now you get it. I wasn't born yesterday, snake. A simple containment seal transfers me to an actual container; it won't hold me longer than a few minutes. You'd have to start sealing me quickly, which would take precious time away from your daughter's depleting lifespan."

"It's not wrong," Ryota stated.

"Then I'll just multitask," Makoto watched as the fox's chakra started to dissolve into the seals.

"No. That's impossible; you must use 100% focus and concentration when sealing that beast. So I'll focus on sealing it while you heal Mika," She explained.

"You don't have enough chakra to seal him away," Makoto stated matter-of-factly.

"Good thing you have some strong Uzumaki women in your life that I can teach the sealing jutsu to," Ryota said, 'Tch, I remember when you humans would kill yourselves just to seal something away. How primitive.'

Makoto thought about it before agreeing, "Fine, let's not waste any more time."

"You know this is gonna take a lot out of you, right? Trying to use your chakra to replicate a chakra network is going to be taxing no matter how little the child is," Ryota said.

The fox was sealed entirely, and the paper seal glowed an angry crimson color. Makoto picked it up, took a deep breath, and spoke, "It doesn't matter; her life matters more than mine… We can't afford to waste a moment. Once I summon you outside, you need to work on the seal."

The snake nodded as the man disappeared, "I'm finally going to avenge you, Mother."

The snake poofed out of the dimension, leaving the space filled with blood-filled water and dead snakes… The worst omen Ryota could think of.

Setting: Outskirts of Whirlpool, The Kyuubi's Cave
Time: 10:30

The statue of chakra chains disappeared, causing Eihei to look on in confusion, "Wha-"

Makoto's eyes opened, and he immediately shot up and sprung into action, taking out the containment seal and handing it to his startled sister, "I already know everything; there is no time to talk, only instructions." The King drew blood and summoned Ryota, who quickly slid toward Riza and Mito, "Ryota is going to teach you the sealing jutsu while I work on Mika. We have minutes."

Mito looked down at the seal as some of the beast's chakra began to leak out, "May even have less than that. Show me, Ryota."

Riza gave Makoto a worried look as the man quickly ran over to Mika, "Makoto, are you s-"

"There's no time, Riza. Trust me, I can handle this. Go help Mito and Ryota with the seal," Makoto ordered, "KINETTIKU." His wife took one last glance as her husband continued to heal her daughter before running over to aid the sealing process. Makoto sat down on a boulder and his hands quickly began to glow green and red, creating a sizeable golden hue above his daughter's stomach.

Rana and Rama decided to make their presence known and bow before the king, "Lord Uzukage, is there anything we can do."

Makoto could recognize the feeling of lightheadedness washing over his body, "You two should go learn the jutsu as well; they'll need all the chakra they can get. This is your chance to redeem yourself."

The twins nodded simultaneously, "Yes, sir."

They all began working on the sealing formula. The jutsu was easy enough for everyone except Riza who seemed to be having trouble with it, uncharacteristically as well, "I don't know why I can't get this down, Ryota. Could I have some extra time to examine the seal?"

Ryota nodded, "Of course, just don't take an ungodly amount of time. We don't have a long duration to waste."

Eihei sat quietly in a corner and examined the situation. The girl had already figured out the statue was being sealed inside the two babies, and from her limited knowledge, the only things sealed in human containers were tailed beasts. Though she wanted to learn more, she felt weird not helping out at all, "Mr. King, is there anything I can do to help."

Makoto felt pounds of sweat drip off his forehead, causing a mini puddle on the cave floor, "I-... Just give me a minute." The King found himself resisting the urge to shed tears. The stress of the day, along with the state of his firstborn child, had finally caught up to him. The piece of ribcage sticking out of her stomach was slowly retracting, but at the rate it was going, Makoto would've passed out from chakra exhaustion way before Mika was healed, "Eihei, make sure that I don't pass out. If I look like I'm wavering, do what you have to do to keep me awake."

Eihei nodded and sat beside the Uzukage as he kept healing his daughter. She turned her attention to the four other Uzumaki women in the cave, watching as they struggled to seal the beast. They were set up in two groups, with Ryota and Mito in one group with Riza and the Twins in another.

"Group 1," Ryota began, gesturing toward the twins and Riza, "How's it going with Amekido?"

"Not good; even half of it is a tough son of a bitch," Riza replied through groans, "What about you two?"

"Same thing here," Mito said. The cave began to rumble and quake as the Nine-Tails chakra began to transfer into the two babies.

The containment seal began to erode, alarming Ryota, "We're gonna need to pick up the pace, or we'll be fighting with an angry fox demon from hell."

Eihei's eyes opened wide, 'So that's what it was. They're sealing the Nine-Tails inside the babies.' The girl recalled the stories she'd been told about the Nine-Tails. It was considered one of the strongest beings to ever exist, rivaling Ashura and Indra. A swipe of its tail could level villages, and just flexing its chakra could alter the atmosphere. She couldn't imagine how someone could hold that much power inside them.

"We're halfway there, just keep holding it together," Ryota announced, "Makoto, how's Mika doing."

Makoto didn't respond, and frankly, Eihei couldn't blame him. The man's skin was deathly pale, his vibrant crimson eyes were replaced with glazed-over eyes that lacked any sign of life, and it seemed like he had lost a couple of pounds. The only thing that differentiated Makoto from a dead body was the yellow glow from his hands, causing Mika's injuries to disappear slowly.

"He's not doing good," Eihei replied on his behalf. The girl had never witnessed chakra exhaustion up close, only reading about its effects. Reading about it versus seeing it happen to the most powerful man she knew were very different experiences.

"Damnit… We need to go quicker!" Riza proclaimed.

"I don't think that's possible, Riza!" Ryota strained. All five of them had been using everything they had to keep the beast at bay, and with the cave crumbling around them, they were on the verge of failure.

Eihei watched Makoto like a hawk. The yellow hue was growing smaller and smaller, so much so that she could barely tell if chakra was being used at all, "Mr. King!"

The loud noise jolted the King into a conscious state. He looked at her, showing a weak smile. Makoto knew he didn't have much more in him; at any moment, he could fall asleep and not wake up. He needed to push on, though, no matter what. Trick his body into working in overdrive.

"Eihei… You… strong kunoichi…" Makoto began, "My robe…. third pocket… on the left."

Eihei quickly went into his robe and found a scroll, "What next, sir?"

"T-two," Makoto said

Eihei looked at the second jutsu and gasped, "You want me to unlock my chakra? But I'm only fi-"

Makoto lifted his hand and weakly placed it on the girl's shoulder to reassure her. Eihei gulped and nodded her head before performing the seals. Toad, Snake, Crow, Tiger.

Upon performing the seals, Eihei's body began to glow a bright red with a pitch-black color on the outskirts of the red hue. The overwhelming rush of power felt euphoric to the girl, like a calming embrace from her mother. Her body began to float in the air before she landed gracefully on her feet. The young prodigy could barely fathom the power she felt at that moment.

Makoto snapped his fingers to get Eihei's attention. He had lost his speaking ability and could barely focus on other tasks while healing Mika. His daughter lost most of her broken bones, cuts, and scratches, but the ribcage injury persisted.

Eihei watched as the man held up four fingers, signaling for her to read the fourth jutsu in the scroll.

Usage (English) - Perform the required hand signs. While making contact with an enemy ninja's head or spinal cord, send your chakra through their body and allow it to spread through their nervous system. The more chakra used, the less pain an enemy ninja will feel.

Eihei read the jutsu and knew what the Uzukage was asking of her. He was signing his own death certificate by ignoring the pain he felt to heal his daughter and possibly causing irreversible damage to his chakra network and body, "Sir, there's another way. You don't-"

The little girl's words stopped as she met the man's stern gaze. He looked at her, looked down at his daughter, and stared back at her. Mika's injuries had seemingly stopped healing. She still had minor cuts and bruises, and the piece of ribcage still sticking out her stomach and leaking blood. No matter how hard she fought, the Princess would die if she didn't get fully healed.

Eihei performed the hand seals as shown and put her hand on the King's head. The process of moving chakra through her body came naturally to her, almost like basic hand-eye coordination. She felt the chakra as if it were just an extension of her own body. Her chakra was like the embodiment of her own will, and she could wield it in any way she wanted. The girl regretted not being able to cherish this moment, vowing to learn more about her chakra when everything was all said and done.

Admittedly, she'd put way too much chakra into the jutsu, but it got the job done. The man's posture changed, and the golden hue expanded and brightened around his hands. Eihei fell to her knees and began panting, 'Using chakra is like a full workout with the twins.'

Makoto spoke, gaining Eihei's attention, "In a few seconds, I'll pass out. Even if I don't fully heal her, there'll be enough chakra in her system that can aid-"

The man's head slumped over, and his body went limp. He was still sitting on the boulder right above his daughter's head as she tossed and turned in her comatose state. Unfortunately, her main rib cage injury was still there.

The group of ninjas was nearly done sealing the beast, and it had pretty much taken everything out of them. The signs of chakra exhaustion that Eihei had become familiar with were ever present on the bodies of the five kunoichis.

"The King needs help!" Eihei exclaimed. Riza looked toward her husband, and for a split second, she stopped channeling her chakra. That minuscule amount of time was all the fox spirit needed to break free.

The Foxes spirit was even more menacing than its physical form. Its spirit was a blood-red hue in the shape of a fox head, accompanied by a large eyeball with dark red slits centered within an orange sclera. It glared into the souls of anyone daring enough to stare back and it caused everyone that saw it to freeze in place.

The fox spirit floated past the group and toward Makoto. It wasn't moving particularly fast but the sight of it made the group halt in their tracks. It was almost like they were trapped in a Genjutsu. Eihei was the first to snap out of it, drawing a kunai from Makoto's pouch and throwing it at the spirit.

She watched in horror as the fox spirit's eye landed on her own. It pierced through her eyes and into her soul, almost like it was sizing her up. Her blood ran cold and she could barely feel the rest of her body. Her throwing arm began to shake and tremble, the beast's ice-cold glare shooting her temperature below freezing. The kunai went straight through the fox's aura and landed on the ground. She fell to her knees as her body buckled under the weight. She began to hyperventilate from the sheer pressure of the fox spirit's glare. She couldn't see, hear, speak, or think. The only thing that concerned her was the human-sized, blood-red fox spirit whose eyes promised a dark and agonizing demise.

The fox focused its eye back on the King and dashed forward. If one were to look into its eye, one would be surprised to find pure excitement, maybe even joy in its pupils. While most of the pressure was lifted off her, she still found it hard to stand. The adrenaline from the chakra in her veins was the only thing allowing her to stay conscious. She watched as the fox spirit sped toward the King's slumped back, 'C'mon Eihei! You have to do something!' She glanced at the Uzumaki Kunoichi and saw Makoto's pet snake speed towards them but it was already too late, 'She won't make it Eihei. It has to be YOU! GET UP AND MOVE!'

The budding kunoichi grabbed a shuriken from Makoto's weapons pouch, stabbing herself in the hand. She knew that causing pain to herself would give her the adrenaline rush needed to bypass her fear, something she had read from her books. Eihei glanced at the chakra demon and watched as its speed nearly tripled. Had the young Uzumaki not been using chakra she wouldn't have even been able to perceive it. Without thinking she dived into Makoto, dragging his body to the ground as the fox spirit darted above them.

Eihei looked down at the King's unconscious body and blinked a couple of times. Neither of them had any injuries as far as she could tell. His skin had started to regain its natural tan look and his muscle mass was returning, 'Legendary Uzumaki Genes' she thought to herself before looking in the direction where the nine-tails spirit had gone. Its spirit had vanished as if it was never there. The only thing she saw was Mika's unconscious body lying on the ground, her wounds had begun to heal with the help of Makoto's remaining chakra, causing her body to glow a dark red hue.

She looked over towards the female ninja in the crowd and caught the complete horror in their eyes. Riza let out a bloodcurdling scream, "MIKA!"

Eihei wondered what had troubled Riza so much about her daughter before the lights in her brain turned on, 'A dark red hue? I thought it was gol-"

Mika's body emitted a massive spike of pressure pushing back everyone towards a cave wall. They watched as her body began to float and the pressure in the room skyrockets, pushing their bodies deeper into the cave wall. The dark hue surrounding her body seemed to consume her fully. The Uzukage's daughter let out a canine-like howl, causing her to aggravate her wounds and leak blood from the hole in her stomach.

Riza yelled out her daughter's name again and began to channel her chakra. Fighting against the pressure, she shot out her chakra chains and wrapped them around her daughter, attempting to suppress the energy being put out by the fox spirit. The chains were repelled under the pressure and flung back into her body. The young mother was in complete disarray at her predicament. She had watched as the fox spirit erupted out of their seal and dashed directly into her daughter's body. Riza began to weep as she looked at the sight, they had split the fox's power in half and had effectively sealed away all of its chakra, or so they thought. One misstep, one miscalculation, and she was watching one of her worst nightmares come true. Her daughter was in grave danger and there was nothing the young mother could do about it.

The girl let out a roar as the pressure pushed the group back even deeper into the cave wall, cracking some bones the deeper they went into the rocks. If no one stopped this, they would all perish a painful and grisly death. They all let out cries of pain and when all hope seemed lost they closed their eyes and wished for it to end.

However, just as quickly as it started, the pressure stopped. Mika's body fell to the ground and the roaring ceased. The only sign that anything had happened was the state of the cave. Rocks and debris littered the cave and the walls still shook from the aftermath of the pressure. The group of ninjas pulled their battered bodies out of the cave wall and rushed towards the Princess, all except for Makoto who was still unconscious.

Riza was the first one there, quickly checking her daughter's pulse and realizing it was beating perfectly fine, if slightly faster than normal. The color had returned to her face, her chocolate brown skin glowing in the night sky. She was still unconscious but her chest raised and dropped in perfect harmony, as if she was enjoying an amazing dream. All wounds, including her rib cage injury, had healed to the point where it looked like it hadn't even happened. No scars, not even as much as a scratch, appeared on her body. The only thing different about the girl was six whisker marks on her face, three on each cheek. It so perfectly lined up with her face, causing Riza to wonder if it was always there. She watched in confusion as the whiskers disappeared off her face, leaving the young girl looking exactly how she did when she woke up that morning.

It was around this time that Makoto woke from his miniature coma. He noticed the state of the cave and the occupants in it, "What the hell happened in here?"

Chapter 8: The Good Doctor!

A/N

Sorry for the late updates as well as a relatively short Chapter 7. I'm dropping this chapter in conjunction with Chapter 6 to offset not only the small chapter this week but also for not dropping it weekly as I usually do.

Stay tuned for more weekly updates of at least 1-2 chapters per. This arc is already fully written and I'm in the middle of writing the next arc as we speak. Once this arc has been fully published there's probably gonna be a bit of a hiatus, due to the fact that I'm not going to start publishing new chapters unless the arc that said chapters are a part of is fully written.

Sidenote: I know things in the story have been kinda slow as far as action/adventure fanfictions go but trust me things will be heating up after Chapter 8 lol.
