May leaned her chin upon her head, absentmindedly gazing out the trains window. It was raining and she was on her way to school, luckily she didn't have to walk. The train was pretty much a shelter, unfortunately she would have to walk the last remaining minutes to the school building.

May couldn't help but smile as the light rain hit against the window in front of her. She liked to imagine that the airdrops on the window were racing, like she used to when she was a little kid. Only now was the moment she realized that she started getting used to her new home.

It was definitely because she felt home at school. She was befriended with a small group of people, though it weren't much, she could be herself around them. She felt a warm feeling come up in her stomach when her thoughts drifted off about a certain green haired student.

she had humiliated herself in front of the guy multiple times, but it seemed like even though he teased and pestered her a lot, he also has a soft side. as if he cared - but May was familiar with the way how he spoke to other girls, which was basically also in a sweet way.

May closed her eyes for a second as she listened to the music that rung into her ears from her headphones. He was probably just toying around with her; if anything, she needed to be careful. She couldn't let her guard down in front of him, he seemed like a playboy.

May's eyes widened as she pulled off her headphones. She'd been caught so busy that she almost missed her stop if it weren't for the person in front of her pulling themselves up from their seat. Stuffing her headphones back into her bag, she swung it over her shoulder and stepped out.

May held her arm above herself in a protective manner, walking as quick as possible as she could. She could feel rain hitting her skin. Luckily it wasn't cold outside; if anything it was warm, the light rain made the air slightly fresher. She had purposely picked out a short sleeved t-shirt and skirt for it.

though she had no idea that it was going to rain, she only found that out whilst on the train. She sighed deeply to herself and continued walking her path. She noticed that the place was less crowded than it normally was; most of the time the whole streets were crowded with students walking or cycling to school.

with a cocked eyebrow she turned the street to see the schools entrance. but to her surprise the gates weren't open. She slightly tilted her head in confusion as she sneaked towards the gate. She carefully tugged the handle of the gate, only for it to stay in it's place. Was the gate closed?

Slightly irritated, May pulled harder on the handle, but it still didn't do a thing. Was she perhaps too early? Pulling out her phone she checked the time. No, it was the normal time, when she always went to school. 'Just open up, you little...' May croaked, pulling the handle again. No use.

She stepped back, anxiety filling her stomach. Why the hell was the gate closed? 'I'm not too early or too late, so why is it closed? I sworn I could've...' May whispered. 'May? Is that you?' May immediately turned around hearing the familiar voice. It was Drew. He had his hands in the pockets of his jeans and he looked surprised enough.

'Drew!' May yowled into the distance, as Drew walked her way. 'What're you doing here?' He huffed, cocking an eyebrow. 'You don't live near here, do you?' Drew inquired, slightly towering above her. May sweatdropped. 'Drew, why is the gate closed? Aren't we supposed to have school?'

Drew went completely silent. 'May.. today we've got no school, we have a day off today. Due to teacher gatherings, remember?' He reminded her, as a slight grin tugged the corner of his lips. May's eyes widened. 'W-What? A day off?' May sputtered, as Drew gave her a suspicious look. 'Don't tell me you didn't know!'

'I... I didn't!' May panicked, her cheeks flushing red in embarrassment. 'Nobody told me! So I've come here all the way for nothing?' She whined. 'I got rained wet for nothing?' she continued, crossing her arms. 'Yeah, pretty much.' Drew answered, shrugging. 'Good going, June.'

'Whaa- My name isn't June, it's May! And you know that!' May snarled angrily, clenching her fists. 'Calm down, May, I'm just toying with you. No need to get so angry,' He commented, flicking his hair arrogantly. May let out an irritated groan. 'Sure. Like you want, mister know-it-all.'

Drew's eyes slightly narrowed. 'What's up with the revealing outfit?' He suddenly commented. May flashed red for a second before anger bubbled up her throat. 'I had no idea it was going to rain,' May snarled back, placing her hands on her waist. Drew gave her a smirk. 'How smart.' He snickered.

May rose her eyebrow. 'Though, Drew, what're you doing here?' May asked. 'I was talking a walk through the rain,' Drew commented dryly. 'What? You don't mind getting wet?' May gasped in surprise, giving Drew a suspicious look. 'No, I don't complain like you do.'

'I don't complain!' May retorted angrily, as Drew just grinned again. 'You just did,' Drew protested. May groaned again as she walked past Drew. 'Well, since we've got no school today I might just head home already.' She exclaimed staring off of into the distance. Drew turned around to look at her.

May was about to walk the last bit to the train station until her arm got caught. 'Wait.' May paused before turning her head around to look behind her shoulder. There was Drew, staring right into her eyes. His eyes were glistening, as if he longed for something. 'W-What's up?' May asked, her cheeks reddening at the contact.

'Ehm.. stay at my place for a bit.. will you? Or else you've travelled all this way for nothing,' he breathed. May looked slightly astonished before she smiled cheekily. If she wasn't mistaken she could hear his voice shook a tad bit. 'Sure.' May turned around. 'I wasn't in the mood to sit in the train alone for 30 minutes again anyways, heh..'

Drew smiled awkwardly. 'Cool. All right,' He huffed, shoving his hands back into the pockets of his jeans. 'Let's go then?' He suggested. May nodded. She could barely believe she just accepted to stay at Drew's place. Wasn't the walk to his house a little bit long, too?

May let her eyelids drop slightly as she felt more raindrops shattering on her skin. It gave her a relaxed feeling, though the presence of Drew behind her made er feel pretty much uneasy. Sweatdropping, May kept on walking, trying to ignore Drew as much as possible.

Suddenly, she no longer felt raindrops hitting her skin, breaking her chain of thought. She was surprised when something covered her; an umbrella? Turning around, she saw Drew with an umbrella in his hands, which protected both him and May. May blushed slightly.

'You've got an umbrella with you?' May murmured in surprise. 'Of course. Just in case it starts raining any harder. Knowing how much you complain, I thought pulling the umbrella out now was a good idea,' He jested, grinning at her. 'I told you don't I complain much,' May protested. Drew shook his head indifferently. 'Nah, untrue.'

May was about to speak up when the umbrella no longer covered her. Drew had walked out in front of her, as she once again felt raindrops hitting her skin, but this time much harder. Shrieking, she ran Drew's way, panicking. 'Since when did it start raining so hard?!' May groaned to herself, only to sigh in relief when she had run under the umbrella.

'When I pulled out the umbrella. I just proved my point, you complain too much.' Drew laughed, as he shot May a prideful glare. May was about to angrily reply until Drew took her hand in his and began walking. 'W-What're you doing?' May snarled, her cheeks heating up. 'I'm keeping you close to me so you'll stay under the umbrella and don't complain.' He answered simply.

May felt her heartbeat fasten. 'O..Okay,' she sputtered, looking to the side awkwardly. She had felt Drew's fingers before, but only now she had realized how soft his fingers were. He was gently holding her hand, no tugging or squeezing. She quickly looked at Drew's face, and if she wasn't mistaken his cheeks were slightly red as well. At least she wasn't the only one that was embarrassed.

A silence fell between the two. Though it wasn't necessarily an uncomfortable silence, it wasn't really comfortable either. Both teens were embarrassed, but the could kind of enjoy the contact they had. Cars drove by the road as May could only focus on the feel of Drew's hand against hers. Though the raindrops hitting against the umbrella made the moment feel a lot more romantic.

But, hold on, she didn't like him! She couldn't like him! Groaning, she hoped for the present nervousness in her chest to disappear. But of course, like always, It wouldn't. 'Sooo...' Drew mumbled, his voice still kind of shaky. 'You travel by train? For like thirty minutes?' He commented. 'You must live further away.'

May nodded, feeling slightly more comfortable now that the awkward silence had been broken. 'Y-Yeah, I don't necessarily live close or anything.. but traveling by train is fun, it's safe in there, and the train I take normally isn't so crowded,' May murmured back. Drew nodded knowingly. 'That makes sense,' He retorted.

'I like being inside trains.. and I like the rain. Thus why I talk walks when it's raining out pretty often,' Drew explained shyly. 'I agree with you, except for the rain part. Walking in rain is fun when you don't get wet,' May giggled. 'So you do like the sound of the rain?' Drew mumbled. May nodded. 'I sure do!' May happily smiled back at him.

Drew flashed her a genuine smile. 'Honestly, it's nice to get to know you a little bit.' Drew started. May gave him an understanding nod. 'I know watcha mean, most of the time we just bicker..' May laughed. 'Yeah. When I first met you, I thought you were weird and annoying.' Drew huffed. May looked up at him. 'And..?'

'And you are,' Drew retorted haughtily, his eyes glistening with mischief. 'That's not true! I'm not weird and annoying!' May snapped back. 'I think you are,' Drew laughed. 'If anything, I know you are.' He added, proudly sticking his nose into the air. 'And you're a bully.' May croaked. 'I don't understand why so many girls like you.'

The two had arrived at Drew's place. The place looked neat like it usually did, just a little bit more gloomy due to the stormy weather. Drew let go of May's hands so he could reach for his keys. May couldn't help but feel a little upset when the tingling sensation of her hand in Drews had left her.

Still remotely embarrassed, May turned her head around to the door, no longer looking at him. Drew had laid down the umbrella on the porch, and then opened the door. May hesitated before stepping in. 'My shoes are all wet ... do you want me to take them off?' May asked. Drew just nodded. 'I don't want this house to be a mess.' He answered.

'My... my parents will be coming home soon. And, honestly, I... don't feel like seeing them.' Drew whispered, glaring down at his feet. May gave him a confused look - he didn't? he didn't want to see his parents? why? May's eyelids slightly dropped as she pulled off her shoes. 'Can I ask why?' May murmured quietly.

A bit of uncertainty flashed by Drew's eyes before he took a breath. 'They just don't take well care of me. And most of the time they're just complaining about me,' Drew admitted. May felt sadness sink into her stomach, and she could see Drew's good mood from earlier decreasing, too.

'I... am so sorry to hear that, Drew. You don't deserve those kind of parents. They're supposed to take care of you, they're supposed to be there for you..' May whispered, carefully placing her backpack down on the carpet in front of the door. Drew quietly grunted. 'Yeah. They're supposed to.. but they don't.' May could hear his voice crack.

'Does it bother you often how they treat you?' May murmured. She could tell Drew had bottled up his feelings for a while now. May was familiar with the fact that he didn't have much friends he was close to. Drew hesitated before nodding. 'Mhm. But I feel like there's just not much I can do about it.' He replied.

'There isn't much you can do about it, yeah..' May whispered. For a moment, then, she had no idea what to say. Normally he comforted her instead of her comforting him. Drew sighed. 'I guess it's just got to be that way, I've kind of learnt to deal with it. It just bothers me sometimes,' Drew murmured, placing his shoes on the carpet.

'That makes sense,' May agreed. 'But, Drew... listen.' May began, her eyes halfclosed. Drew gave her a curious glare, sadness still sparkling in his eyes. 'If... if you ever need someone to talk to..' May mumbled, pulling out her phone. 'You can message me. You can call me. It doesn't matter what time or what moment.' She said, showing her contacts to Drew.

Drew's eyes widened in surprise; was she.. caring about him? He could swear he could almost feel his eyes tearing up before he blinked. 'O..Okay, thanks,' Drew whispered, grabbing his phone and began typing in May's phone number. Drew couldn't help noticing that his fingers slightly shook, barely hitting the right keys.

May noticed this and gave him a glare. 'Are you OK, Drew? Your hands are shaking,' May mumbled, rubbing her finger against his hand's skin. Drew felt a little bit of blush creep onto his cheeks. 'I.. I'm fine,' Drew exclaimed quietly, 'I just don't feel so well.' Drew admitted. Yeah, it couldn't be May making him nervous.

May looked worried. 'You might've caught a cold because you walked in the rain,' May noted, inspecting his skin. 'You are looking a little pale.' May added. 'I do?' Drew whispered. 'Yeah.' May answered. A silence fell between the two as May started brushing her hair, raindrops running her skin.

'Do you.. have a towel, maybe?' May grinned, awkwardly holding her dog like bangs. Drew couldn't help but blush a tad bit whilst looking at her face. Drew nodded. "U..Uh.. Yes, I do. I'll.. go get one,' Drew retorted, running up the stairs as May watched him run up.

Within a minute Drew had run downstairs with a towel in his hands. His wet hair had slightly made the towel wet, but May couldn't really care less. May smiled and took the towels from his hands. 'Thank you,' May thanked, as she started to dry her hair off by wrapping the towel around her bangs.

'Sure thing,' Drew mumbled awkwardly, glaring at the door. He felt so nervous, but why? Had he really caught a cold, or was it May's nice manners that made him feel so vulnerable? Pondering what the nervous feeling had come from, his eyes slightly narrowed at the door.

Why did she care about him? Hadn't he humiliated her so many times? They had fought a lot, Drew could barely understand why May was so caring towards him. With past relationships of his he only had girls begging him for money, or attention, but May wasn't like that. May listened to him, May was there for him. Like his parents weren't, like his friends barely were. Was it because she was a good person? Was it because-

His train of thoughts came to a halt when suddenly he felt something pressed against his head. 'You're all drenched, too, Drew. Why didn't you grab a towel for yourself?' May whispered. He turned his head back, just to see May right in front of him, brushing the towel against his forehead. Drew felt fuzzy.

'I.. I guess I didn't think of that..' Drew murmured, his cheeks heating up by the close contact. 'That can happen. Just.. stay still for a second, will you? Your entire face is wet.' May laughed, brushing the towel against his cheek. 'Next time just pull out your umbrella sooner when you take a walk in the rain,' May advised him.

'Plus you'll catch a cold less quick,' May added, now brushing the towel under his lips. Drew just nodded. 'Mhm..' He mumbled, his cheeks still red, and his heartbeat fastening by the second. May giggled, then lifting up the towel as she began ruffling his hair with the towel.

Drew didn't like for his hair to be ruffled; normally he'd snap something like, 'Don't brush my hair, you'll make a mess of it!' But, this time, Drew could barely get a word out. Like it wasn't necessary, like he didn't want to say that. After a minute struck by May stepped back, and rolled up the towel. 'There you go. You aren't necessarily completely dry and everything, but..'

'Thank you.' Drew murmured shyly, cutting her off. 'Huh? Sure thing, Drew, no worries!' May giggled. 'Now, let's do something fun. You know, get your mind off of what we talked about before.' May smiled. 'Do you have like, perhaps any fun games we could play?' May suggested. Drew nodded. 'I'm sure I do,' he answered. 'Let's go check.'

May had a mischievous grin on her face. 'Uno!' She had yelled, with only one card between her fingers. Drew looked at his own cards, he still had four left. How was she so good at this game? Hesitating, Drew dropped the only card he could place down on the staple. Just a normal, old plain card.

May lifted up her hand, and was about to slam her last card on the staple of cards, just to grab a different card. 'Heh, just kidding, I'm not able to put down anything this round.' She grinned. Drew started laughing. 'Geez, you almost had me there,' Drew snickered. May joined in, laughing. 'Okay, your turn.'

Drew glared at the cards in his hands as he laid down a 7. Drew could sense May getting more nervous by the second. She once again grabbed a card from the staple pot. May grinned widely as she immediately slammed the card down. 'God thank the staple for blessing me with such a good card!' May said proudly, though it was just a regular card that she had put down.

Drew smiled because of her enthusiasm and placed another card down. 'Uno,' He beamed, as May began sweating. 'Uhoh! Uh..uh.. erm..' Glaring into her hands she started panicking. Drew shot her a grin, only making her panic more. 'Oh noo! Uhm,uh..' May eventually sighed, grabbing a card from the staple.

Snickering, Drew thought she could fool her, too. He was about to slam the card down, but instead grabbed a card from the staple. 'Heh, just kidding.' Drew smiled, as May breathed heavily in relief. 'Ah! I should've known you were going to do that!' May smiled, placing her previously card down on the staple. Drew followed, also placing his card down.

The simple game felt like it was getting more intense by the second, with both parties anxiously glaring down their cards. Both May and Drew had only one card left. Huffing, May reached for the staple. 'How long is this round gonna continue for?' She giggled. 'Don't know, you tell me,' Drew replied dryly, though smiling. He reached for the staple.

a +4 card? A grin tugged his lips. 'Your turn, June.' Drew snickered, as May immediately looked intimidated. 'My names May!' May irritatedly responded, placing another red card down on the staple. Drew placed the +4 card down as Mays head turned pale. 'Uno,' Drew said. 'Noo! Not +4!' She whined, grabbing four cards from the staple. 'And I'm making it blue.' Drew added.

May groaned. 'Your last card is a blue card, isn't it?' She murmured, grumpily placing down a blue card on the staple. 'Correct,' Drew snickered, flipping around his last card and dropping it on the staple. May sighed. 'Ahw man, I really thought I was able to win!' May mumbled beneath her breath. Drew smiled. 'You were able to. Just that +4 changed the entire game,' Drew laughed. 'You're right!'

'So you're heading home now, huh?' Drew half-smiled, as May swung her backpack on her back. 'Yeah. I should be home before dinner,' May huffed. 'Plus, I don't want to make a mess in your kitchen again!' May laughed, stepping back as she opened the door. 'True, you really did last time,' Drew jested.

May curled her lip in annoyance. 'That's... that's mean!' May hissed angrily. 'Your words, not m-' Suddenly, May grabbed him into a hug, cutting his sentence off. 'Drew.. Thank you for today,' She whispered. 'I want you to know that you're a strong person.' She added, sweetly whispering into his ear, making a shiver run down Drew's spine. May let go.

'Thank you, too.' Drew smiled, ruffling her hair. May blushed and immediately took a step back. 'E-Ehe.. hehehe..' She mumbled nervously, walking off the porch with her cheeks red. Drew snickered at her chaotic behavior. 'See you.. um.. monday, Drew! See you later! I had a lot of fun today!' May smiled waving him off. 'This was a lot more fun than staying home by myself!' May smiled.

Drew stuck up his hand and waved at her. 'And remember, Drew, if you ever want to talk about anything don't be afraid to let me know!' May yelled, enthusiastically waving her hand in the air as she eventually sped off. It was not raining anymore, though the sky was slightly dark. 'I won't!' Drew yowled out, suddenly feeling happier than ever.

And before he had known it May had run off, disappeared out of sight. Drew took out his phone and headed to look at Mays contact. Drew couldn't help but stifle a laugh at her profile picture. He always thought he'd never have a truly close bond with anyone, but.. perhaps, now, that could be a different. The thought of it made him feel fuzzy inside, it's nothing like he's felt before.

An idea popped into his head as he went to message her. He couldn't help but snicker typing the following words; ' I'm still very surprised how you thought we had school today, June. Good going. Next time ask me if we really have school, that way your silly self won't head to school when you're not supposed to.'

Smiling sweetly, he stuffed his phone back into his pockets, eventually closing the door and turning around. Quickly looking into the palm of his hands, he felt like everything started making sense.

Stepping on the train, May immediately made a motion to check her phone. Was it perhaps the curiosity of wether Drew had sent her a text already or not? She wouldn't be surprised if he did. Her heartbeat immediately fastened when she saw Drew had sent her a message.

Frowning, she opened up the chat, her eyes shifting from top to bottom of the text. ' I'm still very surprised how you thought we had school today, June. Good going. Next time ask me if we really have school, that way your silly self won't head to school when you're not supposed to.'

May clenched her teeth and immediately typed something back. 'I'll make sure to, mister know it all.' The message was short, but she didn't know what else to say. Slightly irritated, but happy, she stuffed her phone back into her bag, and putting on her headphones, she was ready to go home.
