A/N: This took much longer to write then I thought it would. Like I said in Orchids chapter, I originally planned for Coalette to win the Fourth, with Orchid winning the fifth, but this chapter just took long to write, and organise my thoughts for.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading about District Twelves' first ever Victor.

Name: Coalette Snowdrop

District: District 12

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Kills: 10

The Fifth Annual Hunger Games Review

By Plato Trinket

Well, what a ride that was! Out of the five Hunger Games so far, this is easily the best. The twists, the turns, the everything. It was all fantastic. So now that it is over, I am going to break down the entire spectacular event, and review the Fifth Annual Hunger Games. It will include all the interesting characters at the reapings, the training scores, the new betting odds and interviews and the ten-day Games themselves. We will tell you how Coalette Snowdrop changed from your average District savage to the newest Victor, with a record breaking ten kills! Of course, like the last three years, I will name all the tributes, as I think they deserve to be remembered for their glorious sacrifice for our great country.

The Reapings

All citizens of Panem love the Reapings. Whether you are from the Capitol, so the Reapings let you pick out your favourite tribute this year, and hopefully see them win the Games, or you're a District citizen, and the Reaping allows you the chance to show your pride in your District and how much you love Panem. Either way, it is an amazing time for all people. This year, there were so many memorable tributes. I will break down each reaping one-by-one, and give my opinion and rating on each.

Let's start with District One, of course. This year from One we had two volunteers. They were a pair of twins called Gleam and Jade Harper. Now, for those of you who don't know (and as it is about the Districts, I would think there are defiantly some of you who don't), there are twelve noble families in District One. They are House Ashton, Goldclaw, Flawless, Victory, Gaudy, Braun, Harper, Montgomery, Velvet, Clinton, Royal, and, the latest edition, Moonbeam (there was House Silk, but they all died during the Dark Days). Since the Second Annual Hunger Games (which was won by Angelina Moonbeam of District One, thereby pushing them into the twelfth noble status), the Noble houses have been sending in tributes of their own to try and win the Hunger Games. Last year's tributes (Goldson Ashton and Isla Tanzinite) both died quickly. This year however, two strong eighteen-year-olds volunteered, and shone brightly with their amazing looks. The pair from one certainty stole my heart early on. I would rate District Ones reaping a nine out of ten.

Next, we have the District Two reapings. Like the past three years, we had two strong tributes. However, like last year, this year they Volunteered. Thor Walder was the male volunteer. He instantly charmed the crowd with his silky-smooth voice, making all Panems citizens love him. On the reaping stage he showed off his muscles, conforming he would be a strong contender during the games. Leela Lozada, the female tribute, we equally as amazing, if not better. Both tributes were strong and loyal to our country, so I give District Twos' reaping a nine out of ten.

District Threes reaping was nowhere near as good. They didn't even cheer when their escort came out onto the stage. I personally though her computer costume was perfect. Anyway, the male tribute, Hugo Wiolsa, cried when he first stepped on the stage! What a joke, I couldn't believe he was such a waste of a good tribute. Their female, Dottie Lesdale, was a bit better. She was a sixteen-year-old, who could at least fight, and was reasonably intelligent (for a District savage). She at least didn't cry. However, District Three was just poor this year in terms of tributes. I would rate their reaping a five out of ten.

Then, we had District Four, the third and final District to send in 'Careers'. We had a wonderful volunteer and a reaped tribute. Both were the strongest tributes from the District so far of their respective genders. The male, Skipper Gillion was reaped. Thankfully, he was eighteen and was strong and brave. He told the escort he was ready for the arena and to fight. The female, Dory Cavanagh, volunteered. She, like the ones and twos, appears to have been trained slightly, or that may be her skills in fishing with a spear. In total, both tributes were strong and interesting, I would give the District Four reaping a nine out of ten.

On to my personal second favourite District, District Five. Neon Grasstook, the male, was not the best. He was mostly forgettable from the start, and crying on stage did nothing to help him. Pyxell Dawson, the female, was slightly better, mainly as she was more visually appealing. Either way, they both were much weaker than the tributes from Districts One, Two, Four, Seven, and Twelve. I would give their reaping, a six out of ten.

Next, undeniably the worst District reaping this year, in District Six. Here, both 'tributes' (if they were even deserving of the honour of that title) were reaped, and both were snivelling twelve-year-olds, the male 'tribute' even pissed his pants on stage. Chevy Morgan and Trista Hewol were terrible. Two out of ten for the reaping.

Now, my favourite District, District Seven. I was really hoping that one of these two would win but, alas, they didn't. Logan Murphy, the male, was reaped for the games, along with his fiancé Carol Jones. I remember the tears they both had, and the hug they shared on stage. It was adorable seeing them together, and it was obvious (from the way they were crying) that, although they loved each other, they would kill the other to be victor. Easy nine out of ten for District Seven.

Now, District Eight. To be honest, I had to rewatch the games three times before the name stuck in my head, that was how forgettable they were. The male, Bart Rheys, was a tiny fourteen-year-old. He was so weak, I am confident my five-year-old daughter, Charmia, could have beaten him in a fight. The female, Brigit Dales, wasn't much better. She was at least slightly stronger, but still quite forgettable. Three out of ten for District Eight, only barley better than District Six.

District Nine, District Nine. We had one decent tribute, and one useless tribute this year. Ben Ambrose, the boy, was useless. Apart from a swear after he was reaped, there was nothing unique about him from the reaping. Then the girl, Wheatley Hastings, was much better. She was strong, and an obvious contender from the very start. She was my son's favourite to win. With one bad tribute, and one decent tribute. I will give District Nines' reaping, a seven out of ten.

So, District Ten was quite similar to Nine. Their male, Clos Shale, was weak as well. When he was reaped, he screamed and tried to run. Thankfully, the Peacekeepers grabbed him, so he could actually compete. Saffron Julius, the female, was much better, exactly like District Nine. She walked confidently up to the stage when she was called, and stood there strong. I can see why Coalette allied with her. I would give District Tens' reaping a seven out of ten, just like District Nine.

The second last District, District Eleven, was not the weakest, but far from the strongest. For the last four years, they have supplied eight decent tributes, of course with Orchid Fieldgreen winning last year. This year was defiantly their weakest showing so far, but they were still obviously fighters. It is just a shame that there were so many better tributes. Both the boy, Vine Tillis, and the girl, Lilly Dupont, were calm and stoic from when they stepped onto the stage, and they both received quite a bit of support at the beginning, until everyone saw District Twelves reaping. Hopefully, District Eleven will do better next year. I rate this reaping, eight out of ten.

Onto the winning District, and undoubtably the best this year; District Twelve. They started off on the right foot, as when their escort (a wonderful man called Kallistro Snow) walked out, he tripped over the tails of his black cat costume and even fell off the stage. Kindly, a man from the front of the crowd, where the eighteen-year-olds were, helped him back up. I guess not all District citizens are savages. Anyway, he then reaped the tributes, and boy what tributes they were. When the male, Basil Jones, was reaped, three people came up to the stage! I mean, why would you name your child the same name. I, personally, was screaming for all three to be sent into the arena, but unfortunately that goes against the Treaty of Treason. So, Kallistro picked the strongest one, the seventeen-year-old, as oppose to the fourteen- and thirteen-year-olds. Now for the female. As we all know, Coalette wasn't reaped, she volunteered. The girl that was reaped, it was the name Bianca Hopper. However, this girl was Coalettes' wife, so she volunteered. The first volunteer from this District, and boy was it a memorable one. Ten out of ten for this reaping, without question.

But that was the reapings. All in all, I say I would give the reapings a seven out of ten. There were some really interesting ones, and some absolutely forgettable ones, but in total, it was still a very interesting reaping.

The training scores

This year, the Gamemakers (In particular the Head Gamemaker, my wife Felicia Trinket) and our dear President Ravinstill decided to introduce two new things to the wonderful Hunger Games. The interviews (which I will talk about next) and the betting odds. But first, we need to talk about those training scores!

Now, if you can't remember what they mean (and I wouldn't blame you, the games were absolutely amazing and distracting. I had to ask my wife to remind me and they were only introduced last year), I will explain how it works. So, on the third day of their training, the tributes time to train is stopped after lunch. Then, one-by-one, the tributes have a fifteen-minute private session.

In this session, the tributes are meant to show off their skills they have, under watch of the Head Gamemaker and the rest of the Game making team. After the sessions, the Gamemakers decide the 'scores' of the tributes. The scores range from One to Twelve. The scores reflect on how well the tributes do. The worst score possible to get is a score of one, with the best being a score of twelve.

The pair from one, Gleam and Jade, both scored nine. According to my wife and her friends on the Gamemaker team, Gleam showed off his skills with spears, while Jade used daggers and a bow to great effect.

Thor from Two scored a nine. He used swords and an axe to savage several training dummies. He destroyed so many, Leela had to wait for ten minutes before she was allowed to have her training session. Leela herself scored an eight. She used a shogi and a katana.

The tributes from District Three, Hugo and Dottie, scored a three and a five. Hugo tried to use knives, but failed supremely. He managed to cut his own hand. Thankfully, it was healed quickly, but his private session was older, so her earned the three. Dottie scored the five, by being able to identify ninety percent of the poisonous plants and bugs.

Skipper from four scored a ten. He used a trident, and stripped to his underwear, to score high. He was very skilled, also destroying several training dummies. Dory, the District Four female, earned a ten as well. She used throwing knives and a harpoon. This, along with her tactical skills, lead to her scoring that ten.

The boy from five, Neon, scored a five. He could use a knife decently, but there was nothing else decent about his skills. The girl, Pyxell, scored a six, using her skills at the quarterstaff to slightly impress the Gamemakers.

The so called 'tributes' from District Six, Chevy and Trista, both scored two. They did nothing worth mentioning. I am only including them here to show every tribute.

The 'lovebirds' from District Seven both managed to earn sevens, from their use of axes and hatchets. Logan used the hatchets and also set many traps, while Carol used the axes and also showed how to build a shelter and purify water.

The male District Eight, Bart, scored a six. He used a rapier to skewer several dummies in perfect locations to kill someone. Bridgit used the camouflage station to perfectly hide herself in the station. This scored her a five.

The male from Nine scored a three. Ben was barely able to complete the obstacle course in the training centre. This course is full of running, jumping, climbing and swimming. He took fourteen minutes to do it, when the record is three minutes, and the average is seven. Wheatley, the girl, scored a nine. She used the long sword and short sword as a dual wield. This defiantly impressed the Gamemakers.

The boy from Ten, Clos, scored a one. He did this failure by falling off the obstacle course, and breaking his leg. As this was a bad injury, it wasn't healed by the time the Games started. It was deemed to be Clos' own fault, so he was sent into the arena. The girl, Saffron, scored a nine. She used a duo of hand-axes to, not only destroy dummies, but also climb the wall. She also built and lit a fire in record time, fifty seconds.

The male from Eleven, Vine, scored a seven. He used the sickle and scythe well, He managed to beat three of the trainers one after the other. Lily, the female, scored a six. She had skills with sickles, like her District partner. However, she was not quite as skilled with the weapon, which is why she scored slightly lower.

Then we have the tributes from District Twelve. The male, Basil, had an interesting private session. He asked for trainers to throw items at him, from chairs to knives and spears. He spent the ten minutes this was going on dodging everything, not even being scratched. This, along with his display of trap knowledge, earned him a ten. Coalette scored an eleven, the highest of the year. She used a large variety of weapons. She used pickaxes, swords, daggers, spears and bow staffs. Then, she also lit a fire, completed the obstacle course in five minutes and scored ninety-nine percent on the poisonous plants test. She was undoubtedly the best.

In total, for the second ever year of training scores, we had a very good mix of scores. We had a single one, two twos, two threes, three fives, three sixes, three sevens, one eight, five nines, three tens, and one eleven. I would rate the scoring system a seven out of ten. I think it needs a little more revision, but will be a good part of the Hunger Games for centuries to come.

The betting odds

This year, the first of the two new things introduced into the Games this year is the betting odds. Our dear President Ravinstill decided to set up a Hunger Games Betting Board, of HGBB. You can apply to receive a betting slip. You receive it every year, whenever you want to place a bet, but only before the games start. On it, you note down the eight tributes you think will make the final eight for that year. Then you will also be the Victor. Depending on when you place your bet, you will receive a set of odds for your bet. You then actually bet your money, hoping you may win it back. The odds work like this. For example, Coalette this year received two-to-one odds. This means that if you bet five-thousand caps on Coalette winning, you received ten thousand caps after she won for winning that bet. If you had bet on five thousand caps Chevy, who had fifty-two-to-one odds, if he had won, you would have received two-hundred-and-sixty-thousand caps. Now then, lets look at the odds.

Gleam Harper, the male of District One, received three-to-one odds, and 8% of the bets.

Jade Harper, the female of District One, received four-to-one odd, and 7% of the bets.

Thor Walder, the male of District Two, received three-to-one odds, and 8% of the bets.

Leela Lozada, the female of District Two, received five-to-one odds, and 9% of the bets.

Hugo Wiolsa, the male of District Three, received nineteen=to-one odds, and 0.7% of the bets.

Dottie Lesdale, the female of District Three, received eighteen-to-one odds, and 1% of the bets.

Skipper Gillion, the male of District Four, received three-to-one odds, and 10% of the bets.

Dory Cavanagh, the female of District Four, received four-to-one odds, and 9% of the bets.

Neon Grasstook, the male of District Five, received twenty-to-one odds, and 0.3% of the bets.

Pyxell Dawson, the female of District Five, received eighteen-to-one odds, and 0.5% of the bets.

Chevy Morgan, the male of District Six, received twenty-nine-to-one odds, and 0.1% of the bets.

Trista Hewol, the female of District Six, received twenty-nine-to-one odds, and 0.2% of the bets.

Logan Murphy, the male of District Seven, received eight-to-one odds, and 3% of the bets.

Carol Jones, the female of District Seven, received seven-to-one odds, and 4% of the bets.

Bart Rheys, the male of District Eight, received fifteen-to-one odds, and 0.7% of the bets.

Bridgit Dales, the female of District Eight, received fourteen-to-one odds, and 0.6% of the bets.

Ben Ambrose, the male of District Nine, received fifteen-to-one odds, and 0.9% of the bets.

Wheatley Hastings, the female of District Nine, received six-to-one odds, and 5% of the bets.

Clos Shale, the male of District Ten, received thirty-to-one odds, and 1% of the bets.

Saffron Julius, the female of District Ten, received five-to-one odds, and 6% of the bets.

Vine Tillis, the male of District Eleven, received ten-to-one odds, and 2% of the votes.

Lilly Dupont, the female of District Eleven, received nine-to-one odds, and 1% of the bets.

Basil Jones, the male of District Twelve, received three-to-one odds, and 10% of the odds.

Coalette Snowdrop, the female of District Twelve, received two-to-one odds, and 12% of the bets.

That is the list of the bets. You can see from that is the effect the odds had on the bets. These bets are also done after the interviews, on the final night before the Games start.

The interviews

The second new thing introduced this year was the Tribute Interviews. The way these worked this year, and probably for every future year, is that, two days after the training scores are revealed, the tributes are given a three-minute interview with the Master of Ceremonies, Septimius Pittville.

During the interview, Septimius asked the tributes various questions about themselves, their gameplan and their home life. The tributes answer these questions, informing the audience about who they are and why they should root for them (as a bonus note, like President Ravinstill said, next year you will be able to 'sponsor' your favourite tribute, sending them useful items in the arena). The interviews this year were varied, quite similar to the training scores. I will go in order of the interviews, and give a quick review on how each interview went.

Starting with Jade Harper, the District One female. Her interview went quite well. She showed off how amazing she looked, and how much she looked forward to the Games. She continued to talk about the upcoming Bloodbath, and even announced that she would target Chevy Clos from ten for stealing her knife in the training centre. For Jade, nine out of ten.

Similarly, to his sister, Gleam Harper had a very good interview. He talked about their home life, in the Harper estate of District One, and how he loved a girl from the that his family considered an enemy, as she was from the Velvet family. He also talked about his skills with the spear, and how he was excited to fight. For Gleam, eight out of ten.

So, for District One, eight point five out of ten in total.

Next, onto District Two.

Leela Lozada, the female from two, had probably the best interview outside of Coalette, Basil and the Seven pair. She was just amazing! She was such a smooth talker, told jokes, and even flirted with Septimius a little bit. I loved her (and was privately hoping for her to win), and I have to rate her interview a nine point nine out of ten!

Thor Walder, the District Two male, had a brilliant interview, like the rest of his alliance. He was a natural funny man. He was making everyone laugh. Even my wife, who rarely laughs, told me she was struggling to breathe from laughing. Easily a nine point six out of ten for Thor.

So, for District Two, nine point seven five out of ten.

So, District Three;

Dottie Lesdale, the District Three female, was only slightly better than her District Partner. She didn't cry and was talking to Septimius. While she didn't say much, just talked about how she hoped to have a town arena, so she could use electrical bits. Four out of ten for her.

Hugo Wiolsa had a boring interview. He sat there and whimpered and whispered answers to Septimius. Septimius tried to get him to talk about anything, but he was too stupid to reply. He barely said anything. The only thing he properly talked about was his sister, who died during the past year due to 'Peacekeeper violence'. Three out of ten for this boy.

In total, District Three gets a three point five out of ten.

So, District Four was much better than District Three. Both the tributes were obviously strong and excited to fight;

The female, Dory Cavanagh, had an interesting interview. She decided to ignore all the questions and instead talk about her niece, Chloe Irving. She talked about how hard the pregnancy was for her sister, and how cute Chloe was. She even showed a picture and, I have to say, little baby Chloe was very cute. Hopefully she can be a Victor when she grows older. Anyway, an eight point five out of ten for Dory.

Their male, Skipper Gillion, came out wearing a sea blue suit, and immediately got along with Septimius. He got the audience all over the country rooting for him to win the Hunger Games. He was confident and charming all through his interview. Nine out of ten for him.

In total, that means District Four got an eight point seven five out of ten for their interviews this year.

On to District Five:

Pyxell Dawson, the female, had the worse interview out of the District Five pair this year. She tried to tell a story about her homelife, but it was not interesting in any way. It was also very unbelievable. Did she really try and accuse peacekeepers of stealing? Even worse, when she realised how pathetic she was, she started insulting the president. Traitor to our glorious country she was after that. One out of ten.

Neon Grasstook, the male, had an interview that could have gone better, but also could have gone a lot worse. His main focus was on how he should not be underestimated, and he would prove himself in the arena if he could find the right things. I would say a five out of ten for him.

That means District Five got a three out of ten on average.

So, now the 'tributes' from District Six;

Trista Hewol, the worthless female tribute, was terrible. She was crying the entire time. She even pathetically whined for his mummy. Can you believe that! Why would you want to back home. Although it may have meant we got an actual deserving tribute female from Six, but oh well. Zero point seven out of ten for her.

The male, Chevy Morgan, spent the entire interview crying, much like Trista. How useless was he! It is such an insult to the District to produce our first ever Victor. Imagine how Illinois and the rest of District Six must feel. I bet they are all so embarrassed that this was their male representative. But, of course, the female was just as bad. Zero point five out of ten for Chevy.

In total, District Six get zero point six out of ten.

Now then, onto probably one of the most memorable interviews, the District Seven ones;

Now, for the first time ever, the two tributes, Logan Murphy and Carol Jones, were allowed to share the interview together. During their shared interview, they announced to the entire country that they were getting married on the stage. It was so special to see. They said their vows, and even showed the entire country a few District Seven traditions, like burning some incense under their joint hands while they say their vows. After they got married, with the president himself being the officiate (is there any higher honour then that), they sat down together, and talked for the remainder of their interview. It was so lovely to see such young love. It also meant that now, Carol would be going into the arena as Carol Murphy, and not Carol Jones. Ten out of ten for both of them easily.

Which means that District Seven got a ten out of ten in total.

So, onto District Eight;

Bridgit Dales, the female, had a decent interview. She spent her time talking to Septimius about how she was prepared to do anything in the arena to save her allies, the pair from Seven. She claimed that the 'innocent' pair (not that any tribute are innocent, I mean, they are here for a reason right? To be punished) should not have to see each other die. An eight out of ten for her, as she had good ideas.

I am going to be honest, I do not remember much about the males, Ber Rheys, interview. The Sevens' interview, and Bridgit's one, was so amazing. From the small bit I remember, he talked about his girlfriend back in Eight. However, again, it was not very memorable. Four out of ten for Bart.

In total, a six out of ten for District Eight.

So, District None;

The female from Nine however, Wheatley Hastings, had a good interview. First of all, her dress was perfect. Then she nailed her actual interview. She was mysterious about her arena strategy, and she leaked a little information about a possible alliance between herself, and the girls from Ten and Twelve. She easily brought support for District Nine up. Eight out of ten for her.

Like several other interviews, the male was from Nines, Ben Ambrose, interview did not go well. First of all, he was dressed very poorly in a scarlet suit. It looked like he was wearing blood. Now for a decent tribute like Thor or Coalette, that would be fine, but for a weak tribute, it was just plain strange. He then just sat there, staring into space, and didn't do anything. Two out of ten for him, being kindly generous.

In total, a five out of ten for District Nine.

Now then, District Ten was very similar to District Nine;

Like Wheatley from Nine, Saffron Julius from District Ten had a much better interview that her District Partner. In her interview, not only did Saffron talk a little more about the alliance she was in, but also revealed some of their plan. They were hoping to fight the careers at the Cornucopia, and become the dominant pack in the arena. Of course, now we know she was lying, but it sounded like a good plan. Seven point eight out of ten for her. Just slightly less interesting that Wheatley.

The male, Clos Shale, was quite similar to Ben, in terms of what he did in the interview. So absolutely nothing. I was just plain annoyed at this point. Why were half the tributes grumpy, sad and useless!? Ah well, hopefully next year will have a perfect set of tributes. He didn't even react to what Jade had said about going for him specifically. The only reason Clos is better than Ben is due to the suit he was wearing, a beautiful shade of blue, and his rivalry with Jade, although t seemed one sided. Two point five for Clos.

In total, five point one five for District Ten.

Next is the District that produced last years' Victor, District Eleven;

The female, Lilly Dupont, had a OK interview. She decided to talk about two main things. One, the orchard she lived and worked on, and how she makes her own jam. She even had a jar in the Capitol and apparently, according to Septimius, it was very good. I haven't been able to get my hands on a jar yet but, as soon as I do, I will tell you if it really is good. The second thing she talked about was how an amazing of a mentor Orchid was. It was really nice hearing her flatter Orchid. A seven out of ten for Lilly.

Vine Tillis, the male, had an interview that Orchid Fieldgreen (Victor of the Fourth Annual Hunger Games) would later describe as 'infuriating, as he went against what I told him to do'. In his interview, Vine talked about how he got his seven, revealing to everyone, including both inter-District alliances, that he was skilled. It was no wonder that Thor went straight for him. Due to his sheer stupidity, I will rate his interview a five out of ten.

Six out of ten in total for District Eleven.

Now, onto the winning District, and the best this year in terms of interviews, District Twelve;

Firstly, Coalette Snowdrop, the female of District Twelve, had the best interview. I can literally not find anything wrong with it. She joked, talked about her wife, showed everyone her wedding ring, talked about how they planned to have children, talked more about her alliance and even was mad at Saffron for spilling the beans of their plan. In hindsight, we should have guessed that the interview plan was a misdirection, but they were all three so into it, it made everyone believe the plan. Ten out of ten for Coalette, without a doubt.

Secondly, the male, Basil Jones, talked about how much he loved to bake, which from a strong looking seventeen-year-old was surprising. But he talked about cakes and muffins. He even shared a recipe with everyone on how to make bread. It really works as well, I have tried it and I am terrible at cooking, yet it turned out perfectly. Ten out of ten for Basil.

In total, the interviews were mostly decent, with a few exceptions. I would rate this year's interviews a solid six point three five. Better that you would expect on average, but the excellent interviews were dragged down by the terrible ones. Next, onto the Bloodbath! Continue reading to relive the thrilling opening where eleven tributes were cut down, all for the glory and safety of Panem.

The Bloodbath

Next is the Bloodbath. Very year, when the tributes are first launched into the arena (be it the amphitheatre of the First, or last years forest of life), there is a mad dash for the Cornucopia for the tributes to collect supplies that will serve them well in the Games. The amount of people who die has varied year to year, from twenty-three in year one, thirteen in the Second, sixteen in the Third and Eleven in the fourth. This was the first year that the Bloodbath claimed the same number of tributes as a previous year. Eleven died in this opening battle.

The arena this year was a collection of islands over a crystal blue ocean. The Cornucopia was on the centre island, which was the biggest. After leaving that island, there were about another twenty islands further out. These islands ranged from small and rocky, to larger and a forest, to medium and sandy. There were many creatures in the ocean. There were many fish, sharks and the new mutt, piranha-tiger mutts. These mutts had the slimness and fins and tail of a piranha, and the legs and speed of a tiger. The Cornucopia was full od inflatable boats, and even one motor boat. The tributes were lifted in a circle around the Cornucopia. For the Bloodbath, I will list what happened going by death order.

Before the gong even rang, there was a small technical glitch thanks to a rebel hacker, and the mines around the podium of the girl from District Five, Pyxell Dawson, exploded, sending body parts and blood everywhere. This was the first time we saw this happen. The first tribute was dead. I would give Pyxell a one out of ten for her full Hunger Games journey for insulting our president.

After the gong rang, the next tribute to die was Lilly Dupont, the female from Eleven. She was surprisingly fast. The only tribute faster than her was Skipper from Four. Skipper noticed Lilly running just behind him, and Skipper quickly grabbed a spear leaning against the Cornucopia, spun around and stabbed Lilly in the chest. She collapsed to the ground, leaving the rest of the Career alliance to gather their weapon. The tribute count was now twenty-two. I would give Lilly a six out of ten for her Hunger Games journey.

The next tribute to die, was the male one from Six, Chevy. Thankfully, Thor grabbed a sword, and skewered him quickly, ending the embarrassment for District Six of seeing their male tribute being such a pathetic weakling. A quick and satisfying end to one of the most worthless tributes so far. Three tributes down, twenty to go. I would give Chevy a two out of ten for his Hunger Games journey.

Our amazing Victor, Coalette Snowdrop, was the next to get a kill. She got here first kill on Skipper, the male from four. She ran in, and grabbed a dagger. She then saw that her ally, Saffron from Ten, was in danger. Skipper was about to kill Saffron, but Coalette proved her eleven was no joke. She threw her dagger, and it sunk into the head of Skipper, killing him quickly. I remember being very shocked at this. Four dead. I would give Skipper a seven out of ten for his Hunger Games journey.

Jade Harper, of District One, fulfilled her promise she made in her interview, and dived straight at Clos from Ten. She first grabbed a stone from the ground, and smashed his head in. Then Jade quickly ran to the Cornucopia and grabbed a bow and a quiver of arrows. She pulled an arrow out of her quiver, set it in her bow, and sent it straight at Clos. Clos stilled any movement instantly. The fifth tribute was dead. I would give Clos a five out of ten in total.

Just before she left the first island, Coalette got her second kill. She along with her allies, Wheatley and Saffron, had a variety of supplies, including an inflatable raft. Leela from Hugo from three saw this, and being the District idiot he is, ran towards the girls, as if he could steal the raft. Coalette made quick work of the stupid boy, slitting his throat open with one quick swipe of her dagger. The three girls then sailed away from the Cornucopia, leaving the body of the sixth tribute behind them. I would give Hugo a four out of ten in total.

Bridgit Dales, the female from District Eight, was the next to die. Leela from Two and Dory from four teamed up and cornered her against the side of the Cornucopia. Leela stabbed Bridgit with her shogi, while Dory used her harpoon to pierce Bridgit's heart. The Eight girl fell to the ground dead. Seventeen tributes were left. I would give Brigit a five out of ten in total for her Hunger Games journey.

Vine Tillis of District Eleven was the next to be killed. Thor from District Two saw Vine about to escape the Cornucopia Island with a backpack and a sickle. He quickly picked up a throwing axe, and threw it with all his strength. The axe head hit Vine in the back of the head. Vine dropped to the ground, and died instantly. One third of the tributes were dead and District Eleven was eliminated. I will give Vine a six out of ten for his Hunger Games journey.

Trista, the female thing from Six, died quickly after, as a result of Logan from Seven hitting her in the neck with a hatchet, before escaping hand-in-hand with his wife. Gleam from One even saw them running away, but left them be, instead choosing to finish off Trista. There were nine tributes dead, and fourteen left to die before Coalette emerged victorious. District Six was eliminated. I would give Trista a one out of ten for her Hunger Games journey.

Neon from five was the next to die. Basil from Twelve grabbed a pickaxe off the table in the Cornucopia, and swung it into the head of the boy. He fell to the ground, and Basil hit him again, ending his life. Ten tributes dead. Then, with Skipper dead, the Career Pack wanted a sixth member. The entire group of five surrounded Basil, and told him to join them. Choosing between dying, and joining the career pack, Basil chose to join them. To truly join them, he had to kill someone else. District Five was eliminated. I would give Neon a five out of ten for his Hunger Games journey.

The final tribute to die in the Bloodbath, was the boy from Eight, Bart Rheys. Gleam had knocked hi out, and tied him up. The career pack had Basil kill Bart. Basil did it without a moment of hesitation. He swung his pickaxe at Bart, and it stabbed into his neck. Bart died, and the eleven cannons fired. District Eight was eliminated. I would give Bart a four out of ten for his journey.

Eleven tributes had died, with thirteen left. Coalette, Saffron and Wheatley were together on a forested island. Logan and Carol were together on a small beach island. Jade, Gleam, Thor, Leela, Dory and Basil were together at the Cornucopia. Dottie from Three had some electric parts, and was hiding on a small island with a hut on it. Ben from Nine was the only other living tribute. He was hiding on the Cornucopia island. He was hiding inside a box in the back of the horn. Nothing interesting happened until the Careers found Coalette and her allies, which I will discuss next.

In total, I would rate the Bloodbath an eight out of ten. There were some good kills, some lame ones and some great moments.

The fight between alliances

Between the Bloodbath ending, and this battle on day three, Ben was found in the back of the horn and killed by Gleam on the first night. Gleam stabbed him with a sword, and ripped his guts out, leaving only half the tributes left alive. I would give Bart a seven out of ten for his Hunger Games journey. Day two was entirely deathless, with Leela staying at the Cornucopia, while the rest of the careers headed off to hunt.

In the mid-morning of day three, the career pack was hunting on an island that was covered in small caves and crevices. It was a good place to hide, and that was why the trio of girls was there, and Dottie from Three. Luckily for Dottie, that Careers found that trio of girls first on the side of a large cliff, hanging over the choppy shallow sea. The second-best fight of this year commenced.

First, Dory used her harpoon, catching Saffron in the leg. This caused Saffron to fall. Wheatley and Coalette instantly stopped trying to run like cowards, and turned to fight. Coalette dived forwards, with a dagger in each hand, and fell into combat with Jade and Gleam from One. Wheatley used her two swords to fight Thor and Basil, while the weakened Saffron fought Dory alone. The battle went on for twelve minutes, with only minor scrapes and scratches being received on both sides.

The first true damage came from when Thor managed to hit Wheatley in the chest with his sword. Wheatley fell back, gasping and spluttering. At almost the exact same time, Coalette managed to hit a killing blow on Jades' neck, causing the female tribute to fall off the rocky island into the water. She screamed as she fell, before splattering on the rocks below, leaving very little left in the way of a body. I would give Jade an eight out of ten for her Hunger Games journey.

Gleam ran towards the cliff and looked over at his sisters' body, and this meant that Coalette could kill her third career tribute. She gave Gleam one firm kick, and he also toppled over the edge of the cliff, dying on impact. Ten tributes were left in the arena, with seven of them on that island. District One was eliminated. I would rate Gleam an eight out of ten for his journey, like his twin.

Thor had noticed Coalette kill of two members of his alliance, and moved to attack Coalette. However, she was not as unobservant as Thor though she was. Coalette quickly spun, and parried the would-be killing blow Thor dealt.

While that was going on, Dory had managed to disarm Saffron. Dory then went to kill Saffron, but suddenly, Dottie was there to defend the girl from Nine. Dottie had picked up Saffrons' hand axes, and deflected Dorys' harpoon. She then gave Saffron back one of her axes, before joining her in fighting Dory, who had pulled out her knives. Wheatley had also been hit, she had defended herself for this entire time against, the chest wound was very bad. She was barley fighting against Basil.

Now back to Coalette. She had parried Thors' attack, and was now ducking and weaving around him. Thors' giant size worked against him here as Coalettes' slim and small but strong from was able to move much faster than him. She moved quickly behind Thor, and slashed at his spine. Thor fell to the ground, and stayed there. Coalette brought both of her daggers down into Thors' chest, killing him and bringing the tribute count to nine. I would rate Thor an eight out of ten for his journey.

Now, as Basil and Dory were the only two remaining careers. Basil then betrayed his ally, and dived at Dory. Unfortunately for Basil, Dory had noticed his betrayal, and dodged his attack. Dottie from Three used this distraction to run away from the fight. I think she should have given her District some honour by killing Wheatley or Saffron, but whatever, she chose to be cowardly. She eventually settled on a island with a few trees on, and watched the battle still raging on the rocky island. Back to the fight; Dory had hit Basil in his shoulder, when Coalette sprung up and, using Thors' sword, cut the head of Dory, before stabbing Basil in the stomach. Both the girl from Four and the boy from Twelve died in quick succession. This left seven tributes in the arena, and brought Coalettes' kill count up to a record shattering seven kills! This also resulted in District Four being eliminated. I would rate Dory a nine out of ten, and Basil an eight out of ten for their respective Hunger Games journeys.

But she wasn't done yet. Seeing both her allies injured, Coalette let out a sob. From how ruthless she was, I am guessing it was a sob of frustration that both of her allies were now both useless to keep, and not worthy opponents. Either way, she quickly killed Wheatley then Saffron, narrowing the crop of tributes again to five, and her kill count up to nine! Coalette had nine out of seventeen kills and unbeknownst to us, she would get one more before winning. The seven cannons sounded, and Coalette walked away with her supplies, and a popularity never before seen in any other tribute. Districts Nine and Ten were now eliminated. I would give Wheatley an eight out of ten, and Saffron and eight out of ten for their journeys in the Hunger Games.

While this was going on, the other tributes in the arena, Leela from Two was shocked to hear seven cannons sound, and correctly guessed she was the lone remaining career. She gathered some necessary supplies, buried the rest, and then set out to kill the rest of the tributes.

Logan and Coral Murphy, the married pair from Seven, had spent the past three days together, training on a wooded island. They had spent time both spending time together, being intimate, or training with hand-to-hand combat against each other, along with practice with their respective weapons.

Anyway, I would rate the alliance battle a nine out of ten.

The mutts attack

The next big and important event took place on day five. Day four was full of nothingness, just the tributes moving around and practising with their weapons. Coalette was now at the Cornucopia, sharpening her weapons. Leela was on a forest island, hunting through the trees, looking for any of the other four tributes. Dottie was on a grassy island with a lake in the centre, trying to make an invention out of her electrical pieces. Logan and Carol were together on a wooded island, still practising. At noon on day five, the mutts attacked. The piranha-tiger mutts, or as I have affectionately named them; Pirigers, came out of the water to attack the tributes.

Logan and Carol were the first to encounter them, and had three against them. At first, they both ran, hand-in-hand away, but when they saw the second and third mutt in front of them, they started fighting. Logan threw one of his hatchets at a mutt, hitting it perfectly in the head, ending its' created life. The other two mutts however were not so easily put down. The second mutt took them five minutes of hacking, slashing and dodging to destroy, while the third took a further twenty minutes. After the three pirigers were dead, Logan leant against a tree, and held a hand to his waist, as he had been scratched. But Carol was there as she had smartly grabbed a fist-aid kit from the Cornucopia on day one. She put some ointment onto his wound, then wrapped it in bandage. Logan kissed her thanks, before sitting down and inviting Carol to sit with him. The couple relaxed, while the mutts attacked the next tribute. An eight out of ten for the Seven pair on how well they dealt with the mutts.

Leela of District Two was next attacked. She had to fight two mutts by herself. As soon as she saw them, she whipped out her shogi and used it well. She showed off her skills with the unique weapon, using it to cut into one mutts neck from far away. I swear I saw the second mutt falter for a second as if in shock at what happened, before carrying on to attack Leela. She then ran a little, causing the mutt to chase her. I thought that she was just running to try and get away, but I was proved wrong when Leela suddenly spun around, and hurled the blade of her shogi at a tree. She then dived to the other side, making the chain be held taught across the ground of the forest. Due to the speed the pirigers was going at, it tripped on the chain, and fell to the ground. Leela pulled out her knife, and finished the second mutt off. A nine out of ten for Leela.

Coalette was third to fight the pirigers. She, as the tribute with nine kills already, had three mutts attacking her alone. The foul creatures crawled up towards her. I was screaming for Coalette to look behind her and, amazingly, she did. She noticed the mutts coming towards her, and turned to fight them, swords in hands. Coalette managed to kill the mutts quicker then either of the others. Withing ten seconds, mutt one was dead on the ground, with a giant slash to its' head. The next mutt was killed just ten seconds later, after Coalette chopped off its' head. Coalette killed the third mutt just seventy seconds after first being attacked. This final one, Coalette cut its' legs and fins off, before finally stabbing it in the head. Easy ten out of ten for Coalettes' handling of the mutts.

The final tribute to face the mutts was Dottie from Three. While the other tributes fought them, she had been hearing the screeches from the mutts, and had quietly asked for the Gamemakers to give her an extra half an hour to complete her invention. The Gamemakers decided to let her have this half an hour, at the cost of sending five mutts after her. Dottie saw them coming, and booted up her trap. It turned out that the jumble of wires she created was an electrical gun. She aimed at the mutts and pulled the trigger. Then, in the funniest moment of the Games in the past five years, the gun exploded in her hands, blowing her hands off and sending her spiralling backwards. She was savaged by the mutts, crying from what was no doubt embarrassment and shame over what happened. The tribute count was now four. For combat, one out of ten for Dottie, however the sheer comedy of her death pushes it up to a seven. I replayed that death many, many times. District Three was now eliminated. I would give Dottie's overall performance in the Hunger Games a six out of ten.

The next moment worth mentioning is the battle between Leela and the Sevens on day eight. That will be the next thing discussed and rated. In regards to the mutt attack, I will give the Gamemakers a eight out of ten for the mutts, and the tributes a seven out of ten for the combat.

Leela v Sevens

Days six, seven and eight passed with very little action. While Coalette and Leela hunted both days, neither of them encountered any other tributes. Logan and Carol were still side-by-side, refusing to leave each other's company. Then on day eight, the next interesting event occurred. During her daily hunt, Leela spotted Carol and Logan on their woodland island.

Leela swam slowly to the island, trying to keep quiet so she could surprise the pair from Seven. After ten minutes, she arrived at the island, and crept slowly up onto it. Leela pulled out her shogi, and slowly moved towards the pair. Leela lifted her arm, and sent the blade of her weapon flying forward at Logans' back.

Carol saw this however, and dived forward, pushing Logan down, avoiding the blade. Both the Sevens jumped up, and held their weapons out. Logan held his hatchets, Carol had her axe and Leela dropped her shogi for twin daggers. The two Sevens dived forward as a pair, and fought Leela. The two of them started strong, pushing Leela back a few steps. Then Leela managed to get one hit, slashing Logans' right arm, and this gave her the advantage. Leela started moving forward. Logan pushed Carol behind him, and started fighting Leela one on one. Logan then told Carol to run while he fought Leela. At first, Carol didn't want to, but after telling her he loved her, Logan screamed at her to run.

Carol then turned and ran, while Logan continued to fight Leela. It only took Leela a further two minutes to disarm Logan, but by then Carol was already on a different close island, hiding. Still, from her hiding place, she could see her husband be knocked to the ground, before Leela stabbed him through the heart, killing him. I would give Logan a nine out of ten for his Hunger Games journey.

Carol screamed when she saw Logan get killed, which alerted Leela of her location. Leela ran straight towards Carol, who charged at her with her axe. The words Carol said are cut from replays, but I can say that she said "you are going to fucking die for killing my husband you cunt!" Carol dived right at Leela, hitting her in her left shoulder. This of course hurt Leela, but she was right-handed, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Leela responding quickly, with a stab to Carols leg. Carol moved back, wincing. Leela quickly flicked her left wrist, while wincing, and flung her knife at Carol. Carol batted this aside, smirking, before being struck in the neck by Leelas' second knife which she threw when Carol was distracted. The knife caused Carol to collapse, and allowed Leela to stab her seven times in the chest, seven stabs for District Seven. District Seven was eliminated. I would give Carol a nine out of ten for her Hunger Games journey. The two cannons sounded for the Sevens, telling Coalette that it was down to the final two. Coalette ran back to the Cornucopia, while Leela used the Sevens' first aid kit to stop her bleeding shoulder wound. The Gamemaking team, leaded by wife (just a reminder) decided to give them one day to heal up before ending the games of day ten.

The final battle

As the Gamemakers promised, day nine was peaceful, allowing the tributes to finish relaxing, sleeping, practising and healing. At eleven O'clock on the tenth day, the Gamemakers sent five pirigers mutts (am I trying too hard with that name) to chase both tributes to the same rocky island where Jade, Gleam, Thor, Dory, Wheatley, Saffron and Basil all died. Leela got there first, and stood at the top of the rock island, waiting for Coalette. Coalette arrived at the island three minutes after. She threw on of her daggers at Leela in the hopes of ending this early but, thankfully, it missed. It would have been so boring if it had killed Leela.

Coalette clambered up onto the island and the true final fight began. Coalette was armed with a short sword and a cleaver, while Leela had two daggers and her shogi. They circled each other for several minutes, before clashing in the centre. This carried on for a while, with them clashing briefly, before dropping back into the circle, just waiting. After two hours of this, the pirigers mutts were sent up to surround the island, and the sea level rose. The two tributes now just had a few meters on which to stand, raised above the sea level. Falling off would mean instant death.

The final two then clashed in the centre for the final time. Coalette had no injury, but Leela was trained slightly, so it was truly either of them could win. After a further ten minutes, Coalette got the first damage on her opponent. She manged to hit one of Leelas knives aside, and hit her cleaver into Leelas' chest. The Two girl screamed and fell back, leaving Coalette room to jump on top of her, and start stabbing away at Leela. Over the course of five more minutes, Coalette killed Leela, marking her tenth kill, the elimination of District Two, and her becoming the Victor of the Fifth Annual Hunger Games. I would rate Leela a ten out of ten in her Hunger Games journey, but I would rate Coalette a twelve out of ten in her journey. Coalette was taken to Ravinstill hospital to be check over, and the longest games to date ended.

Victors' Interview

Two days after being lifted out of the arena, Coalette had her Victors' interview with Septimius Pittville. During this interview, Coalette talked about her allies, and the various other tributes. She thanked Wheatley and Saffron for being strong allies in the short time they were together. She also mentioned the pair from Seven, and how it was a shame that they died in the arena, as they had found love together, but the Hunger Games must continue. She turned out to be a great supporter of the Capitol in her Victors' interview, much like the previous four Victors.

Then came the recap footage. The footage shown every great moment I have discussed in this lengthy review, and also every death, from Pyxell as the first, to Leela as the last. After President Ravinstill placed the crown on her head, the interview was concluded. I would rate the Victors' interview a nine out of ten.

Ratings

I have already rated each tribute, but in this second to last section, I will look at each District as a whole, and rate them out of ten as usual. (Spoiler alert, next year will be out of twelve to match the training scores).

District One: Nine point two out of ten.

District Two: Nine point five out of ten.

District Three: Six out of ten.

District Four; Eight point nine out of ten.

District Five: Five point two out of ten.

District Six: One point one out of ten.

District Seven: Eight point five out of ten.

District Eight: Six point three out of ten.

District Nine: Seven out of ten.

District Ten: Seven point one out of ten.

District Eleven: Six point nine out of ten.

District Twelve: Ten out of ten.

Conclusion

We had a wonderful year, full of highlights and low points. District Six produced the worst tributes yet, while District Seven produced the most adorable. Districts One, Two and Four produced amazing warriors, and from the rumours I have heard, they will carry on doing so. District Nine and Ten had a OK showing, while District Three and District Eight had a weak one. District Eleven did produce strong tributes, but they were overshadowed by the stronger, and more interesting ones. Yet, District Twelve defiantly produced the best tributes of them all, with Coalette Snowdrop becoming the first Victor of the coal mining District. Coalette is now living with her wife in Victors Village and, rumour has it, is looking for a sperm donor locally as they want to have children. Hopefully, they will follow in their mothers' steps and become a Victor themselves.

Don't forget to check back next year where I will break down the Sixth Annual Hunger Games. Who will win? Will on of the five Districts currently with a Victor gain a second, or will there be a new District with a Victor. Personally, I hope District Five or District Seven will gain a Victor. Either way, whatever happens, I will be back next year for more Hunger Games. Signing off again, Plato Trinket, Hunger Games enthusiast.

A/N: There we go, Coalettes' story told. Again, like I said last chapter, I have an original District Twelve first Victor as I can actually keep this character alive for a while, and have all Districts have a mentor (after the Nineteenth Hunger Games where the final District will get their first Victor).

If you don't already know, I have a second fanfiction up. It is about the One Thousandth Hunger Games. The twist is all twenty-four Districts, send in forty-eight tributes. There are three rounds before the final, each with less games, and less tributes per game until you reach the final with one game of just twenty-four tributes.

If you have already seen it, you may notice I have changed it a little. I have edited it slightly to beter suit the story I want to tell. The main difference is who wins the various Quarter Quells. See if you can spot the pattern for District Twelve.

The Victors' Tales is a slightly different universe to the One-Thousandth Hunger Games. I am no longer going to bother to try and keep it a secret, but the rebellion at the third Quarter Quaell will not happen. It will be at the One-Hundred-and-Tenth Annual Hunger Games. It may fail, it may not. You will have to wait and see.
