AU Naruto Mass Effect Multi Crossover

Chapter 1

Naruto stared at the blue sickle shaped marks under each of his eyes. He'd gotten used to them, but still they felt strange. Still at least he wasn't the only one who had them. Sakura, Sasuke, and literally everyone else in the world had similar marks. So he wasn't alone, some even had pointed ears.

Things had changed after the Fourth Shinobi War.

"Hmph, our people may regain what was taken, but you aren't prepared for what's to come." Kaguya said. "Even so, I would've loved to be a normal altean again."

Tears streamed down her cheeks as she was sealed away. To see her crying again, it hurt Team 7. It was as if they were missing something important.

The sealing took hold, but without warning Kaguya let out a burst of energy. Energy that spreads back to their dimension.

"Go to the ruins of your clan, and there you will find the truth…" – "Good luck little offsprings."

After that things got complicated. Even more so when Naruto, and Sasuke actually went to Uzushiogakure. Retrieving the sealed and booby trapped Uzumaki records had revealed some truths. Truths that Team 7 had chosen to share, after all everyone had a right to know the truth.

"Alteans." Naruto said. "Seriously, how was changing the name of our species easier than coming to terms with these markings?"

'The markings are a physical trait.' Kurama said. 'And, people got over it pretty quickly once 17 years of extremely slow aging kicked in.'

"Yeah, add the whole shapeshift thing to the mix, and people started freaking out."

Naruto backed away from the mirror, and stepped into his living room. Flopping onto the couch, he let out a sigh.

"Our ancestors were kinda amazing, but the records never said why they sealed away certain genetics." He said. "Still it's incredible how they managed to do so, and cover it up so future generations wouldn't find out."

'Kaguya somehow knew, and her own clan was destroyed by their own self destructive tendencies.' – 'Still, we don't know what threat she was talking about.'

"Yeah, and it's been how many years?"

'1,979 years exactly.' Kurama said. 'You still believe her warning is valid?'

"Yeah, something in my gut is telling me that something is coming…something really big."

His gaze went to the window. Konoha had become more a city than a village, with technology advancing over the years, but some things stayed the same. People still walked or used carts to travel long distances. Weapons development was slow, and most technology was for the benefit of themselves along with the world. They respected the planet after all.

The Elemental Nations were at peace, and that's how everyone liked it. The Kage had been more than happy to put their differences aside, and cooperate. That had involved dissolving the corrupt Daimyo system, and costing more lives. But, it was worth it in the long run.

"Kurama, I really hope that I'm just being paranoid." He said. "I really do."

Space – Dark Space – Normandy

Shepard didn't like Dark Space, it unnerved her because of the vast emptiness of it all. Not to mention there was no telling what was out there. Yet, the Alliance had seen fit to send her instead of someone else.

"Listen, Shepard this is covert to the highest level, this part of Dark Space is part of humanity's territory. " Anderson said. "Nobody cares because it's Dark Space and nothing is out there; that's what we thought at least."

"There's something out there now?" Shepard asked. "A space station of ours, maybe a ship?"

Anderson shook his head.

"A mass relay signal."

Shepard's eyes widened in shock upon hearing this. A mass relay signal in Dark Space was impossible, unless there was one actually in Dark Space. But, if one really was out there then how?

"We need you to investigate, and send us the findings first."

"Wait, you want me to tell the Citadel Council after I tell you the situation?" Shepard asked. "How long should I wait?"

"Just until the Alliance can get a handle on this thing." Anderson answered.

"What if it's like humanity's first contact with the turians?"

To this, Anderson took a breath, and exhaled. Such a question was heavy, and carried weight. Lots and lots of weight.

"If that's the case then be smart about this, and don't shoot first." Anderson said. "You'd be representing humanity, and the last thing we want is a new species to hold a grudge against us."

This wasn't a simple mission, and apparently took priority over Saren. She hadn't held back when she informed the others. On the off chance that this was a new species then Tali, Liara, Garrus, and Wrex would be representing their respective races. Whether they liked it or not.

At the moment, she was adjusting her armor, it was too heavy. As a biotic she needed to be able to aim using her hands. She was pretty fast already, and the last thing she wanted was to lose that advantage.

"Uh, Commander, you may want to get to the cockpit like now." Joker said over the intercom.

She let out a sigh of frustration as she left her room, and hurried to the cockpit. Upon arriving, she saw that things definitely weren't going to be easy.

"I–I think we just entered a Cluster." Joker said. "Scans show that this is definitely a cluster we entered…2 hours ago."

"The probes are mapping it right?"

"Yeah, but we're not equipped to scan the whole thing."

"Just follow the signal, and have the probes map out what we pass." She said. "We'll let someone else take the chore of mapping this whole thing."

"I've got a bad feeling about this, like my stomach is gonna–"

"Me too Joker, me too."

Shepard really, really didn't want this to turn sour. But, something told her that once more she wasn't going to get her way.

12 Hours Later – Land of Fire

Something was wrong, he could sense it. The natural energy was shifting, it was actually shifting. Something that had never happened before, it wasn't supposed to happen like this. This had only happened once, when he'd drawn in a massive amount when he and Sasuke fought Madara, and then Kaguya. But this time he wasn't doing it, and that cakes for immediate investigation.

He was currently in the forest, searching for the source. His eyes shifted into that of an orange rinne sharingan, but it was strange. To those who had seen it, they'd described it as looking into a night sky full of stars. His pupils specifically were a blazing blue color as were the tomoe.

Shinseina kōkei or Divine Sight was the result of his altean genes finally kicking in. With it he could see the life force of everything, chakra and what their ancestors called, quintessence. It had the same properties as a normal rinnegan, but his unique abilities made him more dangerous.

"Something in the sky."

His vision zoomed in, and he bore witness to something flying to the ground. It was made of metal, and oddly shaped. There were living things inside of it, he could see their life force.

Getting into cover, he proceeded to follow the metal vessel. His comm device was active, and he would call for backup if need be. There was a bit of excitement though, that much he wouldn't deny.

Land of Fire – Normandy Landing Site

Shepard hadn't expected this planet to look so much like Earth. Nor had any of them expected there to be a large city in the distance. This drastically changed things in an instant. They were on somebody's territory, and for all they knew they were about to make first contact.

"We're ready to contact the–wait who are we gonna call?" Joker said over the radio.

"The Alliance, if this is an undiscovered race." Shepard said. "The last thing I want is to hear the council bitching."

"A good enough reason, be safe out there Commander."

With that Shepard, Garrus, and Liara proceed forward. There was no way the Normandy hadn't been seen. Best to not land close to the city or else they might cause a panic. They didn't know what level of technology these people had. There were too many unknowns, and too many possibilities to consider. She was sure of one thing, she wouldn't start a fight.

"Alright, now let's follow the signal."

Activating the program, she honed in on their goal.

"And it's…god damnit."

It was pointing them towards the city. Shepard now felt like the universe really was conspiring against her.

"Wait, if this really is a mass relay then doesn't that mean the natives might actually have it?" Liara asked. "If it crashed then it makes sense they would study it, especially if they aren't space faring."

"How the hell would a mass relay crash?" Garrus asked.

"That's a question we'll have to ask later, for now let's find the thing."

The trio proceeded forward on foot as the Mako wouldn't do well in a forest such as this. This also gave Shepard time to think about their options. The Alliance soldier was very aware of first contact procedure, and how to react. But, putting it into actual practice was another matter. If the natives were immediately hostile then they would retreat, better safe than sorry.

Liara and Garrus could see Shepard's frustrations, they didn't envy her position. In fact they felt bad for their friend, she was put in a delicate situation that could go wrong very quickly. Garrus in particular felt a sense of dread, turians had screwed up first contact with humans. History couldn't repeat itself.

In the trees however, they were being watched. Naruto was beyond surprised by what he was looking at. One of them looked like his kind while the other two were clearly a different species. He'd wondered about what might be beyond their world, but seeing it was strange. These aliens had no chakra, they were carrying odd weapons that kind of reminded him of the chakra cannon that Nagato used, and their armor looked advanced.

'Looks kinda ugly.' he noted. 'They're on guard, and that thing looks to be leading her to the village.'

Leaping quietly he stayed out of sight. He couldn't let them get to the village. There was no telling what they wanted.

'Confronting them on my own is risky, but necessary if it means getting ahead of this.'

Waiting eight minutes later he broke a branch.

"What was that?"

The trio looked around and saw nothing. Shepard however was looking at something up top. A young man who looked to be twenty-one at least. He had blonde hair, blue eyes, three lines on either side of his cheeks, and under both eyes his were blue sickle markings. Then there were his pointed ears.

"Is he standing on the side of that tree?" Garrus asked. "Or am I finally losing it?"

"No, I see it too." Shepard said.

"I didn't think there would be humans here, maybe this is some kind of secret colony?" Liara said. "He is human, right?"

Shepard was silent. This was unexpected, and not in any of the scenarios that she had run in her mind. This native looked human, but something was clearly off.

"Maybe, maybe not." Shepard said. "Greetings."

Naruto didn't respond. He could understand them, but how?

"Do you understand me?"

"Yes, I can." Naruto answered. "Who are you?" – "What are you?"

"My name is Jane Shepard, and I'm human."

"Human, you resemble my kind." Naruto said. "What about the two of you?"

"Garrus Vakarian, I'm a turian."

"Liara T'Soni, I am of the asari race."

"Human, turian, and asari." He repeated before pointing to the sky. "You are from the stars?"

"That's right, and we mean you no harm." Shepard said. "Now, would you please tell us who you are?"

Naruto nodded his head.

"I am Naruto Uzumaki, and I am an altean." He said. "It's nice to meet you all."

He jumps down, and lands in front of the trio. Now able to get a closer look, he sizes them up as best he could. They had their guard up, and for good reason.

'His legs should have been broken, that was a pretty high drop.' Shepard silently said.

"Why have you come here?" Naruto asked. "For conquest?"

"What, n-no!" Liara responded in a panic. "Far from it in fact."

"I said that we mean you no harm, and I meant that." Shepard said. "We're just here because of a signal our people picked up."

"What kind of signal?"

"It's complicated, but it's from something big, something really big, and very powerful." She answered. "It's very important that we find it."

"I'm gonna take a guess and say that" he pointed to the Omni tool. "says that the signal is coming from my home?"

"That's right." Shepard said. "Can you get us inside?"

"The gates are open, but you would get surrounded once someone spots you." He stated. "There's no telling how they'd react if you just walked up to the gate."

The blonde knew this was going to cause a commotion no matter what. The best he could do was keep them close, and manage this thing. It was risky, and there was a chance he would be reprimanded later. Even so, he had to act.

"I'll escort you." He said. "It'll be safer that way."

A logical call, and one they wouldn't reject. They might be able to get some information from the blonde. With that they followed the blonde altean. It only took five minutes for Liara to start probing.

"Naruto, how were you standing on that tree?" She asked. "Your footwear perhaps?"

"Nope, these are normal sandals, I was using chakra." He answered. "I think it might be similar to the energy inside you, and Shepard."

"Energy, you mean our biotics?" – "Can you sense it?"

"Yes, can you sense my chakra?"

"No, we can't sense chakra."

"Hmm, that's strange, but you guys aren't alteans so it makes some sense." he said. "See, chakra is one of our major life sources, it runs through our entire body via a system pathway that's similar to blood vessels."

"I see, so chakra is genetic?"

"Yes, and if someone were to run out of chakra then they'd die." – "It's pretty hard to exhaust one's entire chakra reserve though."

"I take it there's a limited amount?"

"Yes and no, resting and eating help restore chakra, plus there are medical pills for emergencies." He explained. "Our reserves grow the older we get which is why fatal chakra exhaustion is rare."

"Fascinating, aside from sticking to walls, what else can you do with chakra?"

"A lot of stuff, but I'm not exactly sure I can tell you without getting in trouble later." He said. "It's not that I don't trust you, I just want to avoid being reprimanded by the Hokage."

"Hokage?"

"Village leader, and my old sensei." – "Five major powers and five Kages, they used to answer to Daimyos, but that ended during a brief civil war."

"Civil war?"

"Yup, it's…not something I like talking about." He stated. "Next question."

"How old are you?" Shepard asked.

"1,979 years old, why?"

"Wait, you're over a thousand years old?" Shepard exclaimed in disbelief.

"Yeah, we live pretty long lives since we age really, really, really slow." He said. "I mean some people look like they're in their sixties, but we can choose to age forward." – "We can still die, it's just kinda hard to."

"By human standards you look really young, it's kinda hard to believe that's all."

"I have no reason to lie to you about my age or how long my kind lives."

"Sorry, it's just that there are only two races we know of that live 1000 years, the asari and krogan."

"I'm 106." Liara added.

"I'm not sure about asari standards, but you look great for your age." Naruto said. "I-is that right to say or…"

"It's fine." Liara said. "And, thank you."

"Ok good, I've been told many times that I need to think about what I say before I say it." He said. "Now, any more questions?"

Of course they had more, and Naruto did his best to answer what he could. Soon they would reach the village, then it would be their turn to answer questions. Very hard questions.
