Chapter One: When the Summer Dies

The green floo died down and Harry tried to not think about how his worst nightmare was coming into existence. He would rather face down Voldemort muggle style than spend an extended amount of time alone with his potions professor. He had to acknowledge that they had a bit of a truce going but Harry will forever be suspicious of anyone whom hated him for years and then suddenly want to be his friend.

Although the two had squashed (for the most part) their long standing rivalry, Harry still didn't want to be alone with him. He wasn't sure his mental barriers could withstand Snape if he decided to go snooping around Harry's brain. There were things Harry didn't even tell his beloved godfathers and he wasn't sure that Snape wouldn't take advantage of what he would discover.

Harry sighed. He missed Ron. Ron had passed 4 months earlier during their final Hogsmead trip thanks to a stray spell during a battle no one expected. Harry had to watch his best friend since the beginning bleed out on the ground while trying to help protect the younger students. Hermione was beside herself in grief and Harry had gone numb. Neither of them had realized the hole that was there without Ron, what sort of void he filled between the two of them. The golden trio became a duo and they had no idea how to operate as such. After the funeral, Harry had been whisked away back to Number 4 Privet Drive when he wanted to comfort Hermione and get comfort from her. He was left to grieve in the hellish hell hole that he couldn't escape.

Looking around, he realized Snape had wandered off into the safe house already. Harry glanced around, taking in the dark room he was in, instantly reminded of his beloved godfathers. He sighed, missing Sirius and Remus immensely. They had been there for him the moment he got into the hospital wing, allowing him to collapse into their arms and wait out the sobs of grief that took over Harry's body. They were the ones he felt the safest with, the only ones besides the Weasley family. A scowl crossed his face. Dumbledore refused to let them be the ones to accompany him into his isolation, citing "Order business" as the reason why.

Harry exited the room and began to move silently through out the safe house. It was more of a manor really, a small one but a manor nonetheless. Harry noted that he and Snape would have more than enough space to where if they really didn't want to see each other. Harry paused as he passed the potions lab. Of course Snape was inside, his back to the cracked door. Snape never paused or looked around, seemingly ignoring Harry. Harry closed the door all the way, as silently as possible, and walked to the furthers room in the house. He set his stuff down, sighing as he did. It was going to be a long... however long it was going to be.
