Disclaimer:
I do not own trolls. Dreamworks has all rights. First three chapters are a fanfic of a fanfic; Lone Concert originally by Dawnbuneary. The story has been dead since 2017 and I decided to pick it backup so here is my take on this trollverse. Hope you enjoy.
Glitz was just watching Branch with nothing but disappointment; he finally had the girl of his dreams and he rejected her. All because he got his feelings hurt? Ok what Poppy did wasn't ok but come on only a fool couldn't see that her feelings for him are indeed genuine. But Glitz guesses that Branch is deciding to be that fool. Because he is sitting here looking at the nice invite she made him that not only did he destroy but then fixed instead of being out with the woman he loves. SOrry but Glitz is just a little frustrated with the turn of events this has taken and they decide to not ever leave the bunker until Branch gets his head out of his…..
Own way. What did you think I was gonna say? Anywho. Glitz was done and they were just gonna leave Branch to wollow until he realized he made a mistake because they already tried talking to him and NOTHING! Now to Branch, as he is still slumped at his kitchen table, plays the invite's massage over and over and over again. "Celebrate freedom from the Bergens Celebrate freedom from the Bergens! Branch, you're invited!" He missed Poppy a lot but he didn't know what to do now. He was not a happy troll and she deserved better. She probably wants better now. But Branch didn't get much time to dwell on that because he heard a very loud banging on his GO AWAY mat. He realized that he needed to hide the invite card quickly with the others unless Poppy finds out and yes he knew it was Poppy at the mat. Honestly who else would it be? But in his rush Branch accidentally knocks out all the other invites he has saved over the years and none of them are silent. "No! No! No!" He says trying to silence them one by one.
"Branch! Branch! Branch! Branch, are you in there?" Poppy may still have some unresolved feelings about the grey troll and by that she is still totally in love with him and now everything is awkward between them, but this was way more important than that. Before she knew it Branch was looking at her through the peephole in his mat. "I'm not going to your party." He tells her immediately. "The party's over. We just got attacked by a Bergen." Poppy told him. "I knew it." Branch answered back as he quickly dragged her into the first part of his bunker that was filled with mouse and bear traps. They were sitting silently but Poppy could not wait any longer. "Branch!" But he shushes her "I have to tell you something." He shushes her again. "I was just gonna…" At this point Branch was getting frustrated at Poppy's lack of stealth. "What? What could be so important that it's worth leading the Bergen right to us?" Poppy let out a sigh. "The Bergen's gone!" She tried to assure him, but to no avail. "You don't know that. It could still be out there. Watching. Waiting. Listening." Branch retorted. Poppy really did find his antics super adorable.
"No. It left!" She told Branch. She then started to list off the names of everyone taken. It took Cooper, Smidge, Hickory, Milton, D, Jazz Chaz, Leggsy, Dj Suki, Trollex, Synth, Fuzzbert, the K-Pop troll girl group, Satin, Chenille, Biggie, the reggie trio, Guy and Tiny Diamond, Creek, and my DAD! Which is why I have to ask you. Will you go to Bergen Town with me and save everyone?" Poppy said really quickly that Branch was not able to catch everyone's names, but he was sure that he heard her ask him to go to Bergan Town. "What? No." He simply told her. But since when did Poppy ever take no for an answer? "Branch, you can't say no. They're your friends." She tried to argue but he did have a comeback for her. "They're your friends. I'm staying right here in my bunker where it's safe." He said as he pulled the lever to his elevator.
"That's great. You're the one guy who knows more about Bergens than anyone. But when we finally need you, you just want to hide here forever?" Poppy complains. "Forever? No. Yeah. I really only have enough supplies down here to last me 10 years. 11 if I'm willing to store and drink my own sweat. Which I am. You all said I was crazy, huh? Well, who's crazy now? Me. Crazy prepared." Branch was really proud of himself and Poppy began to think to herself. Is this the troll you really want to spend the rest of your life with? She then takes one more look at his face and she instantly fell in love with how proud he was of his forward thinking and plan and she thought it was really cute. Yep this was the troll for her. Then she realized she owed Branch yet another apology. "I'm sorry. I should have listened to you. You told me not to throw the party, and I threw it anyway. And it's my fault they were taken. And now I don't know what to do."
"Why don't you try scrapbooking them to freedom?" Branch said sarcastically. Bringing in the remark Biggie made earlier. The humor was not lost on Poppy. "Solid burn, Branch. Well, thanks anyway." Poppy said heading back to the elevator. Guess she had to go with Plan B. "Hey, anytime, Poppy. See you in 10 years." Branch said back just a little cocky. "Oh, hey, Branch? Just wondering if I could borrow something." Poppy asked before she disappeared on the lift. Branch figured he could at least help with that. "What?" Poppy then lowered the lift again and a ton of trolls started to pour in. "Your bunker. What? Okay, everybody. Come on in!" It was Branch's worst nightmare. Everyone twrecking his home and draining his supplies within moments of just beig there. "No! No! No! Whoa, wait! Poppy, what are you doing?" Branch said trying to catch Poppy before she left for real this time.
"You said you have enough provisions to last 10 years, right?" She must have misunderstood what he had meant surely. "Yes, to last me 10 years. Me! It'll last them two weeks!" Branch said, trying to explain. "Then I guess I better hurry." Branch then realized what she was doing. "Wait, wait, wait! You won't last a day out there." Branch said, trying to convence her to stay. "And you won't last a day in here. Solid burn, returned. Sorry, Branch!" Poppy said as she got back onto the lift holding the lever in her hand. "Poppy, wait." She wasn't just going to leave all these trolls in his home. Right? "Bye, everybody! See you soon!" Poppy yelled, waving to the entire kingdom. "Good luck, Princess Poppy!" Ok yes she was. She was going to leave him with the whole kingdom. Glitz saw what happened and could not stop themselves from laughing so hard. Branch then saw Poppy looking at her wrist. "And three, two, one. Hug time!" Poppy then pulled the lever and watched Branch suffer. Did he deserve this? Maybe a little. Was she taking pleasure from that. Maybe a little. "No." Branch said as he realized that she timed this out perfectly for her. "Hug time! Hug time! Hug time!" The mob said as they all went to give him a group hug. "No! No!" Poppy was left hearing Branch's creams as she gave a little chuckle at them. Now time to save her friends and family.
With her friends safely hidden. Princess Poppy set off to rescue her other friends. Confident she'd make it to Bergen Town on her own. Convinced she'd make it to Bergen Town. Totally sure she'd make it to Bergen Town. Poppy said with her narrator voice before she started to sing to calm herself down. Because let's be frank she was scared.
I really hope I can do it
'Cause they're all depending on me
I know that I must leave the only home I've ever known
And brave the dangers of the forest saving them before they're eaten
I mean, how hard can that be?
Poppy was doing everything she could to reassure herself but with all the dangers around her she was really starting to wish she paid more attention to Branch's warnings about EVERYTHING! But no time to dwell on that now.
Looking up at a sunny sky so shiny and blue and there's a butterfly
Well, isn't that a super fantastic sign?
It's gonna be a fantastic day
Such marvelousness it's gonna bring
Got a pocket full of songs that I'm gonna sing
And I'm ready to take on anything Hooray!
Poppy was choosing to look on the bright side of this adventure because that is what this was an adventure with the end result of seeing her friends and father. Sure it could be dangerous but what's life without a little danger? Right? Right?
Some super fun surprise around each corner
Just riding on a rainbow I'm gonna be okay
Hey! I'm not giving up today
There's nothing getting in my way
And if you knock, knock me over I will get back up again
Oh! If something goes a little wrong
Well, you can go ahead and bring it on
'Cause if you knock, knock me over I will get back up again
Get back up again
Poppy knew that she got this under control and could handle anything that came her way. So what if Branch didn't come with? So what if she could lose the last bit of family she has. She could do this. She can do this.
I'm marching along I've got confidence
I'm cooler than a pack of peppermints
And I haven't been this excited
Since I can't remember when
Ok. So she was facing some harsh weather, scary creatures, and was falling off or into a lot of things, but all she had to do was keep going. Things were sure to get better. Eventually. Hopefully.
I'm off on this remarkable adventure
Just riding on a rainbow
But what if it's all a big mistake?
What if it's more than I can take?
No, I can't think that way
She needed to shake any of those bad thoughts out of her head; they were not going to help her in any way shape or form. And she fell into a spider's nest, great. Just great.
'Cause I know that I'm really, really, really gonna be okay
Hey! I'm not giving up today
There's nothing getting in my way
And if you knock, knock me over I will get back up again
If something goes a little wrong well, you can go ahead and bring it on
'Cause if you knock, knock me over I will get back up again
Get back up again
I'm okay!
And now she was tangled in their webs. But things were still gonna work out. She just knew it. Because she had no other choice but to hope that that was the case.
And if you knock, knock me over you knock, knock me over
I will get back up again
Get back!
And she was done. Nap time. At this point the spiders had wrapped the pink princess in a web cocoon and were about to eat her when a black hair whip snapped at them taking their meal. Branch was wearing his backpack and was fighting off the three big spiders into the mouth of another beast using his hair like a lion tamer's whip. Once the spiders were taken care of, Branch looked back at Poppy and saw she was not conscious. "Oh, no! Poppy? Hang on!" Branch quickly cut her out of her cocoon and used two glow bugs to zap some life back into her. "Get back up again, Branch, my man!" Poppy said, jolting up from the shock of electricity. She then looked over at Branch who did not have an amused expression on his face. "You are right on time." Branch held a hand out to help her up. "Oh, right. Like you knew I was coming." Poppy turned to him and started to giggle. "Yes! I figured after the third hug time. Getting eaten by a Bergen wouldn't seem so bad." She said in a matter of fact tone. "And I figured there was no way you could do this by yourself." Branch retorted. "Guess we were both right." Poppy said positively, making Branch groan a little as he followed her. "All right. Let's do this! Sooner we get to Bergen Town, sooner we can rescue everybody. And make it home safely." Branch then realied something. "Wait, wait, wait. What's your plan?" Poppy then just turned back to him with a serious expression on her face. "I just told you. To rescue everyone and make it home safely." No, no, no, no, no. This was not going to do Branch thought to himself. "Okay. That's not a plan. That's a wish list." Poppy then looked unassuming at him. "Oh ok! I suppose you have a plan." She said in a mocking tone. Branch just jumped in front of her getting ready to explain his thoughts. "First, we get to the edge of Bergen Town without being spotted. Then, we get inside by sneaking through the old escape tunnels. Which will then lead us to the Troll tree. Right before we get caught, and suffer a miserable death. At the hands of a horrible, bloodthirsty Bergen! Hold on a second, are you scrapbooking my plan?" He asked a little confused as to what she was doing? "Yeah. Almost. Done!" She showed Branch very proud of her hadny work. "We did it!" It sang as it shot Branch with a huge blast of rainbow glitter similar to how his invitation the day before had gotten him. "There will be no more. Scrapbooking." Branch said unamused as he was blowing glitter out of his nose.
Branch tried to keep his cool but he was already really out of his comfort zone and was being over stimed he did not need Poppy's singing to add to it, especially if it meant it alerted predators to their positions. "Do you have to sing?" He aske cruidly. "I always sing when I'm in a good mood." She snapped back. Even though they were not getting along great now she did hope that this adventure would bring them close together again. Maybe not like how it was but some better to how it is now. "Do you have to be in a good mood?" Branch asked back, annoyed as he continued to trudge along. "Why wouldn't I be? By this time tomorrow, I'll be with all my friends! I wonder what they're doing right now." Poppy said, genuinely curious as if nothing back could possibly be happening to any of the captives. "Probably being digested." Branch however did not share the same sentiment to her. "They're alive, Branch. I know it!" Poppy said a little angrily.
"You don't know anything, Poppy. And I can't wait to see the look on your face. When you realize the world isn't all cupcakes and rainbows. 'Cause it isn't. Bad things happen. And there's nothing you can do about it." Branch said bitterly. Thinking back to his gramma and family. Poppy realized what Branch must be thinking. "Hey, I know it's not all cupcakes and rainbows. But I'd rather go through life thinking that it mostly is. Instead of being like you. Being consumed with the past you don't live your life because you're too afraid to hope for a future. You don't sing, you don't dance. So grey all the time!" Poppy ended up shouting back. Truth was she loved his grey. She felt bad for saying that last part but she just couldn't help it. Branch was not the only one mad here so was she and she was also scared out of her mind about losing her father but she just could't think like that. Why couldn't Branch understand that? "You said you liked my grey." Branch mumbled to himself, but Poppy heard him. "What was that?" Branch then realized he had said that out loud and tried to cover up his mistake. "Nothing. Shush." He then acted all serious as if he just heard something. "A Bergen?" Poppy whispered, looking around for the predator. "Maybe." Branch said back to her still not moving. "There's no Bergen, is there? You just said that so I'd stop talking." Poppy said in her normal voice. Not thrilled at the prank he had just played on her. "Maybe." Branch said starting to move again. But Poppy could not help but notice a slight smirk on Branch's face when he said maybe for a second time.
Before the couple knew it the sky grew dark and the two made camp. Branch figured that Poppy being her impulsive self didn't think to bring any provisions, so he had packed an extra set of everything for her. They set up camp. Branch collected the firewood and Poppy spread out the sleeping bags and got things ready for them to go to sleep and made a small dinner out of berries, nuts, and seeds that Branch had brought. Once they were finished the two went to their respective sleeping areas. Poppy and Branch wished they could both go back to that night on the sofa when they had fallin asleep with each other;s arms. But things were strained now and it would probably be best to not act on feelings when trying to face your lifelong enemy. Poppy missed everyone so much she looked up at the night sky. "Good night dad. Good night everyone." Poppy said to herself before turning to look at Branch. "Good night, Branch." No response, maybe he didn't hear her. "Good night, Branch. Good night, Branch. Goodnight." Branch then turned ove rto look at her. "And good night, Poppy." Then Poppy's hug time bracelet went off and she looked back at Branch who was trying to sleep. "Don't even think about it." Poppy could not sleep. She was looking at the stars and could not help herself but to start singing. Again.
Stars shining bright above you
Branch could nto handle this. "Really? Seriously? More singing?" He snapped. "Yes, seriously! Singing helps me relax. Maybe you ought to try it." Ok maybe Poppy was not only trying to calm herself but also annoy Branch as well. He was poking fun at her as well. So what's the harm? "I don't sing, and I don't relax. This is the way I am, and I like it. I also like a little silence." Ok right now we all know that that statement is not totally true but for the most part he meant what he said. He wanted silence. So that's exactly what Poppy was going to give him.
Hello, darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
She started to sing with her ukulele and the creature of the forest much to Branch's dismay. Was she really doing this? Yes. Was it to spite him? Possible. Did he respect her for it? Yes, but he would NEVER tell her that.
Hello.
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound...
Of silence
With that she finished the song and the critters went to bed themselves. Branch then got up and held out his hands and with a kind smile on his face said. "May I?" Poppy of course handed him her ukulele and he just tossed it in the fire and went back to his sleeping bag to go to sleep. He will get her a new one when this is all over and if they are still alive but before they all did die a horrible and painful death he just wanted some sleep. It had indeed been a really long day. A long day that was quickly catching up with Poppy because she was asleep the moment her head rested on the ground. Soon the two were fast asleep but little did they know that they were slowly gravitating towards one another to cuddle and provide warmth and comfort to one another as they slept the night away. Consumed with their slumber to notice the action that had taken place between them At least not until morning.
