Disclaimer:
I do not own Trolls or these songs. I have been inspired with new stories and more chapters to write. My posting will be once a week since I do have other stories and life going on as well. I have so many new songs to add! I have looked at all the song requests in the comment section in Lone Concert and I will do what I can to not only add those songs but maybe even more. Hope y'all enjoy!
It has been a week since the proposal and Branch and Poppy have been keeping it a seret until Val and John had gotten back from their honeymoon. The two had been spending a few days alone for more than one reason; one is that they were planning a big surprise engagement party for their family and the Snack Pakc to join, also Poppy was still extremely embarrassed about what had happened about the situation that shall not be named. To piggyback off of that Clay has also been avoiding the bunker like the plague too afraid about what he might run into. So he had been staying with Suki, her sister, and niece for the past few days. CJ has just loved having Uncle Clay there; she has taken to calling him that since he spends so much time with her Aunt Suki. During this time Poppy has been putting together a pod for the two since Branch and her were now engaged; she figured that she would be the one to move into the bunker, Branch also figured that too. You know since he was the one to build the whole thing. So Branch and Poppy had readied a pod for Clay and made sure to fill it with a ton of sad and tragic books for him to read or reread.
The day finally came for the party, Branch and Poppy had finally finished setting everything up. Since it was all set right outside of the bunker the family had assumed that it was just a welcome home party for John and Val. Yes most of them had known that Branch was planning on proposing but they had thought that they had ruined the evening with the not so little incident. Poppy went out to invite all the Extended Snack Pack and her parents to the party. Everyone had arrived roughly fifteen minutes before John and Val had finally come home from their honeymoon. They were surprised by the party and excited to see everyone, but they needed to drop their stuff off in their pod. Val recognized her pod and led the way, John being a good husband grabbed more bags than he could carry and tried to make it to the pod. Branch ended up helping him.
When Val and John entered the pod their hearts swelled up. Among one of the first things that they saw was the first photo of them. "Bud, you didn't have to do this. I thought you wanted this?" John said, touched at the actions of his son. "I wanted to do something special for you. Plus I made a copy that's still in the bunker." Branch explained. John didn't know what to say. He really was blessed to have Branch as his kid, he could not hold himself back any longer he hugged the younger troll. Who much to his surprise hugged him back. John had to calm himself before he broke down into tears. Soon the three returned to the party where Branch made his way to Poppy.
Poppy looked at her fiance feeling so giddy getting to call him that. Branch was her fiance and she was his. When Branch saw her look at him he knew that it was time, so he cleared his throat grabbing everyone's attention. "Ok, so we set this up not only to welcome back my parents, but to also share some news. We were waiting till everyone was here to share it and now that everyone is." Branch started off, but Poppy was so charged with energy that she could not wait anymore. She showed them her hand. "We're engaged!" Even though everyone had been expecting Branch to propose sometime soon this still took them by surprise. They all cheered and went to give hugs and congratulations to the couple. "What we leave for a week and you get yourself engaged?" John said jokingly. Val was right next to him feeling extremely happy and went to hug her soon to be daughter. "You didn't need to wait for us. We would have understood." Val said to the couple but Poppy was the one to answer her. "You two are family and a very important part of Branch's life and now mine. We wouldn't do it without you here." This made the parents of the soon to be groom tear up a bit, giving the both a hug and telling them congratulations.
Peppy and Viva made their way to the couple and Viva went rushing into them for a hug. "This is so fantasimazing! I am so happy for you two truly." Poppy felt a little overwhelmed at that statement. She knew that her mom wasn't Branch's biggest fan but she tried for her sake. "You really mean that mom?" Poppy asked, surprised. "I do." Viva confirmed. Poppy could not hold back her tears anymore. "Oh, mom." She said as she pulled her mom into a one-on-one hug with her. She was so relieved and happy to hear that her mom was fully on board with Branch. As the two girls did this Peppy caught Branch's attention and held out his hand. When Branch took it it had taken him off guard with how vibrusly the elder troll was shaking it. "I am so proud of you, my boy. You will make a great king one day I am sure of it." Branch had nearly forgotten that Poppy was royal and that by marrying her he would be king, but for now that was a bag of worries that he would unload another day. For now he would just spend time celebrating with his family and friends and soon-to-be-wife. "Um, thank you. Do you really think so?" Branch asked, a little curious. "Of course. You care about my daughter and the safety and well being of the trolls of this kingdom. You have been a positive influence in Poppy's life as she has been in yours. In my opinion that's all that matters. I honestly can't think of anyone more suited for the position." King Peppy told his future son-in-law. Branch felt so touched that he cautiously went to hug the former king before he was just yanked into a hug by him.
With the news of the upcoming wedding those who were part of the mishap the other night soon forgot their error and were consumed with planning the event. It has been several weeks and with an upcoming royal wedding the entire kingdom spent all of their free time planning this event. Poppy was so excited to tell Bridget about her wedding and had asked her to be her maid of honor. The other bridesmaids that would make up her court would be Suki, Barb, and Holly. She loved that her friends and soon-to-be family were so excited to help her but she was starting to feel overwhelmed. If it wasn't for Branch taking care of the orginizing and helping relieve some of the stress of the whole thing she honestly doesn't know what to do. After one particularly stressful day Poppy entered the bunker and plopped on the sofa feeling extremely tired. She had been taking care of not only her queenly duties, but also all the wedding planning. Poppy was happy to be marrying Branch but she was not starting to understand why John and Val did not want to make such a big deal. She doesn't remember any other wedding being this stressful, but this was also the first royal wedding they had since her parents making this the first royal wedding since they had escaped and made peace with the Bergans. Mading there be a lot to be celebrated.
When Branch came out of the kitchen preparing dinner for Poppy figuring that she had had a long day he was met with her face down on the sofa. He walked over to her and rubbed her back. "I made feta pasta. How did everything go today?" Branch asked knowing full well that it was going to be answered by a very wound up answer delivered by Poppy speaking extremely fast. She started to go off about the flowers, and the cake and the dress, and how everyone is asking everything from her rather it be about the wedding her her duties and she is just feeling liek she is being pulled in million different directions and she is feeling more and more nervous about the big day coming up and by the time she had finished talking she was blue in the face because she had forgotten to breath. "Do you want to eat?" Branch asked. All Poppy did was nod. As they walked to the kitchen Branch told her everything she needed to hear to reassure her that she was now handling it alone. By the time they had finished dinner Poppy had felt better and much to her dismay she had to head out and to her parents' pod. With the wedding being in two days they had wanted to spend a little time with her before everything took off for tomorrow getting the final touches together for setting up for the wedding.
The day has come and everyone was getting the final touches and making sure that everything is in place for the royal wedding of the century and here Poppy thought that it would be Branch worried and stressed but no it was her. She was filled with so much anxiety. Poppy wasn't having second thoughts about the wedding. On the contrary she couldn't have been more ready to marry Branch, but for a moment she had forgotten just how important it meant for her to get married. It's a royal wedding and as soon as they return they will have to get a coronation set up for Branch and she just doesn't want to scare him away. She knows that he will do whatever he can for her, but she never once wants to make Branch feel like he has to do it. As of right Branch and his family are taking care of the food, flowers, and set up along with most of the extended Snack Pack. Poppy had Bridget, Barb, Holly, Suki, her mother Viva, Satin and Chenille helping her with the final touches of her dress. Things were going smoothly with the dress alterations for the most part.
"Poppy you lookso beautiful." Bridget said peeking through the small window as she stood outside; being much too big for the troll pod. "I don't know, I feel like maybe we should have less colorful bows." Poppy said not trying to sound crittickle. But Satin and Chenille had made her this beautiful pantsuit wedding outfit with rainbow bows all over it. She had originally asked them if they could make her dress shorter in the front and a long tail in the back. That's the only input she had given them for what she had wanted for her wedding. She doesn't want to sound like a bridezilla but this was her day not theirs. Suki saw the look on Poppy's face and knew that she didn't like the outfit the twins had chosen. Viva could tell too. Which is why she had brought a back up. "Girls, I was wondering if you could help me with something." Viva said taking the other girls into another room with a large box in hand. Now Poppy was just left with Barb, Holly, and Suki. "What's wrong Popsqueak?" Barb asked, now sitting next to a somewhat distressed bride. "Yeah Sugar, I thought a bride was supposed to be happy on her wedding day." Holly said. "I am but with all the duties of being queen and planning this event. At first I was hoping it could be small like John and Val's but then I was reminded that I am the queen and this was now an event for the entire kingdom to come see." Poppy ranted, putting her face in her hands. Suki felt like there was still more at hand. "There's something else isn't there?" She said, placing a hand on her friend's shoulder. "What if Branch doesn't want to be a part of all this. Just hear me out. I know he will stick by my side through thick and thin but what if he doesn't want to be part of the whole royalty thing?" Poppy asked nerously with a few tears threatening to spill. Poppy could not take the eyes all staring at her anymore and rushed to her bedroom and locked herself behind her. The girls could only hear a thud and Poppy leaned against the door and little sobbing noises came from the other side of the door. Suki also knew one trollthat was going to make Poppy feel better and wasted no time going to get him.
Suki had reached Branch's bunker in record time. She had caught him trying on his father's suit when she ran into Clay. "What's wrong Suki?" She was a little unfocused with her priority being to find Branch. "I need to find Branch." She said not really explaining what for. Branch had heard his name and came out of his normal clothes wondering what was going on. "Suki what happened? Is Poppy ok?" Branch asked, slightly concerned. Suki huffed out an answer that did not really help Branch to understand the situation any better. "Um. Physically yes. She's great. Mentally it could be better. I'm not gonna lie." Branch just looked at her, not amused. The brother however had no clue what was going on. "Look Poppy is a little stressed out and I think she just needs to hear your voice say that it's all going to be ok." Suki explained. Branch nodded understanding. "Wait, you two aren't supposed to see each other the day before the wedding." Spruce said. Suki just looked at him unworried. "Well she has locked herself in her room so as long as Branch stays on the other side of the door it won't be an issue." Suki explained. Spruce thought about it for a moment. "Ok let's go." He said. "What, we're all going?" Branch asked. John just walked up to his son. "We are in this together Bitty B." Branch just smiled at his father before he started to he to the royal pod, where Poppy was.
Suki had got Branch as quickly as she could, he had rushed past the worried girls with his confused brothers and father in tow. Just as he was about to open the door he was stopped by Holly. "Wait, it's bad luck to see one another before the big day." Branch gave a huff before thinking of another way he could approach the situation. He just knocked on the door. "Poppy it's me." He said, concerned. "Branch. I'm sorry." Poppy said worriedly. Branch just sat down on the other side of the door. "You have nothing to feel sorry about." Branch said, trying to confort her. Poppy just started to cry. He knew what was going through her head. He knew her better than most. He also knew how to help her and he started to sing a song that he had been rewriting for Poppy and figured now would be as good a time as any to sing it for her so that is what he did. He started to sing as the Extended Snack Pack, Branch's siblings and parents were watching with anticipation hoping this could work.
I know your favorite song
I hear it every day
Whoever made your smile
Made it to get in my way
And every time you laugh
You make that little sound
It's just the hardest thing
To love you, but not know how
When Poppy heard him sing through the door she recognized the song and was afraid because last he had sung this to her he had ended things, but she was delightfully surprised when she heard that he had changed some of the lyrics. She liked them better now, she thought as she cried silently with tears of love. The others just watched at the scene with awe.
I love that you're perfect, perfect for me
If I knew better, then I would believe
That we were made for each other
And I'd know the truth
You are good for me, I am good for you
And I love that you're perfect
You're perfect for me
I love that you're perfect
You're perfect for me
Poppy knew that Branch loved her and to hear a song that represented one of the most painful moments in their lives and turn it into a reminder that they have faced trials and pain and have gotten through it together filled her with a new hope. She also wanted to share that love and hope and understanding with him as well. That she truly sees him as completely as he sees her.
You always wanted to be hiding
Like no one wants you around
Hold your head a little higher
It's pretty simple
Together now
The bad days are over
'Cause we come together
The bad days are over
'Cause we don't stop
Branch did not know that love Poppy more than he already did but she always had a way of surprising him. He just smiled and closed his eyes as he just listened to his soon-to-be-wife sing through the door. He could not wait to hold her in his arms and be married to her. Tomorrow could not come soon enough.
Looking up, looking up, looking up
Don't need to look around
'Cause I know
I'm in luck, I'm in luck, I'm in luck
'Cause we're together now
Together now, now, now
Together now, now, now
Together now
The two finished singing their love for one another and Poppy was finally able to breathe. "I love you so much, Branch." Poppy said through the door wishing that she could be in his arms right now. "I can't wait to marry you tomorrow." Branch said. With that the others left the two alone for a bit to continue to talk in private. Branch had told her what her father had said the day the announced their engagement, about him being king. He was nervous about taking on the role, but he knew that he could do it with her by his side. Poppy really wished at that moment that she could hug him. The two stayed like that for a while until they started to feel drowsy and felt it was best for them to head to bed. Tomorrow was going to be a big and long day.
At this point in time it has felt like a marathon of writing and I am tired and still have one more chapter to write before I take like a week break because this has wipt me. Sorry I was not planning to take a week off, but I am drained. I know I should take my time and I have been trying but when inspiration and OCD take play it's not always a choice. Well with all of that being said these have also the most anticipated chapters of the whole story since we started back up if I am not wrong. I hope y'all have enoyed yet another chapter as we reach the end and until the next time. Bye-bye.
